Buona was impressive! Being from California I wanted to draw my own conclusions on Portillo's vs Buona and honestly I think Portillo's barely wins. I do think Buona had more meat and better meat texture/presentation, especially with how they wrapped it. If you're a first timer on the app, you can also get a whole free italian beef, which is pretty unbeatable. The flavor is decent as well. I tried their strawberry salad which comes pre-dressed. I used a coupon for a free cheese fry and got a water. So the only purchase I made was a large Italian beef with mozzarella and sweet peppers. It was 14 dollars. I almost died. I thought the cheese fry coupon didn't work at first. I do have to say that the Italian beef was pretty big and could probably be 2 modest size meals. If I had gotten fries and drink I imagine it would have been 20 bucks. That's a lot of dough for a meal. Service: 5/5 I've been here a few times and the staff are excellent. Place is always clean. I love the beef at most of the Buona Beef's in Chicagoland. The service is usually to the point and efficient if not friendly. And the spaces are clean enough to feel comfortable in. Every once in a while you might get a dry sandwich but those times are few and far between. read more

The cashier was so friendly and greeted me with a wonderful smile. I didn't have to wait long for my order. This location is fairly large with lots of seating. Very disappointed in the quality. I had a friend in from out of town. He wanted to go to portillos for a beef , I talked him into Buona instead saying that the beef was better, (I haven't been to bueno in a couple years) .. call it inflation, shrinkflation or just plain corporate greed but. $32 for 2 number 1 meals and there was sooo little beef on the sandwiches.. It was a Sunday night and a lot of restaurants were already closed when I was trying to find a late night meal. This place, however, was still open, so I went inside wanting to try an Italian Beef Sandwich, because when in Chicago, right? Upon entering the restaurant, the interior was clean and quite spacious. Very few people were inside when I walked in - but that didn't take away from what was a delicious sandwich. Wow! I can't believe it took me so long to find Buona. It is better in every single way compared to Portillos. The beef is better, the bread is better, the giardinera is hotter, the fries are better, the lemonade is better, the music is better, the service is better. The only thing I had to get used to is that there are no garbage cans anywhere. They don't expect customers to clean up after themselves like 99% of other restaurants. I came to the buona drive thru tonight to order and a worker named Mitch was there. Previously I had a bad experience with Mitch, and gave a one star review because of him being disrespectful and rude in the past whilst messing up my order. The issue was resolved by the manager, who called and apologized for the inconvenience and offered a gift card. However, when I was going through the drive-thru tonight and ordering food, Mitch accused me of trying to exploit my points for free food and accused me of being rude in our previous interaction. He even identified me as the person who gave him a one-star review, creating an uncomfortable scene infront of everyone with disrespectful behavior, all while a line of cars waited in the drive-thru. He was angry and mentioned to the other workers that im the one that gave him a 1 star review and denied the fact that he was previously being rude and disrespectful. This time, I am going to report Mitch's behavior to to the corporate office. I'm seeking an apology for Mitch's behavior to achieve resolution. Additionally, I request that the team members involved exhibit respectful behavior. It's important to note that I'm not seeking free food as a resolution to this situation. Furthermore, if Mitch is going to accuse me of "exploiting" points for free food and exhibit disrespectful behavior towards customers using points, it raises questions about the purpose of the restaurant's point/reward system. By the way, I opted not to utilize my points and paid the full price, as I didn't want to face disrespect for using the reward system, despite still having over 2100 points.
