Sides Sandwiches

Was on the hunt for a beef in Glen Ellyn/Wheaton area and found some recommendations for these guys. The beef was delicious and has a hint of heat on its own. I went with the hot giardiniera and it was a good size for me. The special combo price put the beef at around $8.50. Some complained it was short on beef. The cheese sauce for the fries tastes made in house. Extremely friendly staff. The interior is small but very clean. Small bath in back is a tight maneuver if handicapped. Lots of daily specials to choose from too.

I was pleasantly surprised. Great Beef, excellent flavor. Better than Portillos and Buona.

Ribeye steak sandwich

I just recently bookmarked the place like 2mths ago, so I decided to check them out. It's a typical hotdogs, polish, burger fast food joint. The lady that took my order was super friendly. I had a ribeye steak sandwich was fresh and hot. It lacked seasoning a little, hence the 3 stars. The place was packed, so I guess somebody likes it!

I pass this spot everyday so I stopped by and gave it a chance. Inside it was outdated and the floors are cracked and dirty and the tables where all dirty. There was no dining in all to go orders. I tried the ribeye steak sandwich and the smell when I unrolled it from the paper was a burnt char smell. The ribeye is cooked well done and it a thicker cut with grilled onions and chopped salad and mayo. It was lacking flavor so I add salt and some hot sauce. Overall it was okay not the best but not the worst. The hot dog nothing special don't recommend hotdogs here I will be back to try the cold subs and maybe change my rating. There's a lot of people that come in and pick up and the guy working the register is super cool and a lot of there customers are know from coming in a lot.

I've seen a lot of griping from people that they had hoped this spot was more in line with the other restaurants under the Bien Trucha banner but I feel like they did a decent job of setting expectations while letting people know this was going to be a different experience so I wasn't thrown by the new concept. I enjoyed the feel of the place and the ambiance. Felt like a chill bar spot I would have no problem hanging out in while in Wheaton with the added bonus of delicious, affordable Mexican fare that doesn't sacrifice quality. I ordered some tasty shrimp tacos with great seasoning and handmade tortillas. They were topped with what was definitely the best guacamole I've tasted from a fast casual spot. Others at the table tried several different types of tacos as well as enchiladas and everything looked really appetizing. We also sampled a number of their draft cocktails which all tasted wonderful. Sweetchilango can definitely hit the spot if you're looking for an elevated fast casual expierence.

My fiance and I went here for dinner on a Friday night. This restaurant is a recent addition to the…read moreBien Trucha group, but of all the locations I have eaten at (Bien Trucha, Santo Cielo and Quiubo; have not been to Lil Donkey or A Toda Madre) this was the weakest one. Why? - We both thought the corn tortillas were too thick and flabby. These tacos are somewhat bigger than you get at other places, so the support structure needs to be there, but I have seen other places get around this with two thinner tortillas instead. These also barely seemed to have touched a comal: they weren't blistered and still had a doughy quality. - The thick tortillas translated into thick tortilla chips, and neither of us liked the salsa Verde. My fiance liked the house sauce that is in a bottle on the table better. - He got two tacos and a side of esquites (street corn), I got three tacos. We both thought the chicken (in his chicken tinga taco and my pollo pipian taco) tasted gamy. He liked the one better with steak and potato (picadillo), and the esquites was good. I liked the flavor of the rajas con crema quite a bit, with poblano pepper, cheese curds and corn, but it was rather messy to eat. Likewise, my birria taco was very flavorful but just poured grease out of the end...yuck. - For two of us for dinner with no drinks (both got tap water) it was right at $50 (48 and change). That is a LOT for tacos, especially considering that some weren't very good (looking at that chicken here). - A note on accessibility: I was encouraged because there's a ramp going up into the restaurant, but there are only a few regular tables: most are high tops. I wish this trend in restaurants would go away! Everyone can use a regular table; not everyone can use a high top. One accessible thing is that you can either order at the counter, or order from a QR code menu and they'll bring it to your table. So overall, Sweetchilango is only getting a middling grade from me. There are so many other good taco shops in this area that I don't need to break the bank coming here. I'd say it's an optional choice if you're looking for something different, but the inconsistency of the quality of the dishes we had make trying something new a challenge.

Maybe it was just a bad day for them today, but it was less than expected. Went with my wife and son for lunch. The young lady at the counter seemed to be having a bad day, at least I hope she was, because if she's like that every day, she shouldn't be working there. She had attitude and was short with us. It wasn't anything she said, but rather, the abruptness with her questions and overall demeanor. If we ordered anything on the side, or asked for something different than what usually comes on a sandwich, she huffed and eye rolled us. It didn't make us feel very welcome. We got a number and sat down and waited. When our food arrived, we were short one soda and a side of vinegar and oil. No worries there. I was taken back a little that we were charged 50 cents for water, $2.50 for one slice of Gouda cheese, and 50 cents for an oil and vinegar cup. There is also a 3% charge for using a credit card. The actual food was better before. My combo sandwich was somewhat bland. I remember the hot dog being bigger before. It went from a deli hot dog to a regular sized one. My wife thought the turkey burger was bigger before as well. Overall, I remember it being more flavorful in the past. My potato salad was still very good. The cannoli pieces were outstanding. The place was fairly crowded being Mother's Day, and the service was pretty quick. Turkey burgers take a while to cook. It's always lively but quiet in the restaurant which I like. I hope this was a one time dud experience, and I will be back, unless the cashier has another bad day, and the food is lacking taste.

There is something special about this location though... they are FAST! They have very tasty burgers that are of decent size (though I'd recommend at least a double if you have a slightly larger than normal appetite) paired with near-perfectly cooked fries and a menu that will hold it's own against all the other big players. It turned our stomachs and we went to the window to request a refund. The cashier ( a blond lady with glasses and bright red lipstick) gaslighted us and told us that the bun has ALWAYS been this way. No it hasn't lady, why would you like to people who have consumed hundreds of Culver's bugers. Our burgers were remade on sour dough but it wasnt what we wanted in a burger. I ordered $40 worth of food which included the 1 hotdog meal which includes a drink, fries and the hotdog. The drinks have always been in a nice size Styrofoam cup, and today I got this 4 1/4 inch tall plastic child size cup for my 12 oz drink! I don't know when they changed their policy but they did ask me if I wanted it from the fountain or in the can. Since we were eating there, I said the fountain. When I went up to pick up my meal, I was stunned to see this tiny little child size plastic cup and said "what's this?" The Employee at the pick up window said this is a 12 oz drink. I said I don't think -so especially with all the ice you put in it. The employee said well if you didn't want ice, you should've told us no ice or get it in a can. That cup holds 12 oz. Again, I said "I'm sorry, but this isn't 12 oz of drink" and he replied "if you don't like it, you can go somewhere else"!!! I came home and measured it and yes, it holds 12 oz filled absolutely to the top -almost overflowing and NO room for ice. I probably got about 6 ounces of drink. Buyer beware.
