If you're looking for burgers, mac and cheese, and whiskey, The Burger Social is the spot for you! Located on Hale Street, it's located in the heart of Downtown Wheaton. The inside is very industrial with the same layout of a large bar and dining area on both the first and second floor. The second floor also features a small patio area. When I visited, i ordered The Pitmaster burger. The burger was stacked high with toppings and the meat was juicy. I also highly recommend getting a side of their ranch for fries. Most of their burgers come with pretzel buns but they also have potato buns. I love the variety of burgers they offer and enjoy seeing what monthly burger, cocktail, taco, and shake they have. I visited during a Sunday during football season where they had additional wings, beer, and an old fashioned special. The only drawback to the experience was the service level. There were a couple of instances where drinks lingered coming to the table and requested refills weren't given. While our server was present, there were very long timespans in between check-ins. I can understand if it was a very busy day but crowd was minimal till around when we finished dining.

Had a great time at Cantigny, wanted a good place to have a fun meal(s). Son's girlfriend recommended The Burger Social! Arrived without a reservation, but they were quite accommodating for party of 7! Had a sports Bar feel with an upscale vibe. We were asked if we would be fine sitting upstairs & outside with a roof. Was a great spot. Preferred having filtered Water, instead of alcohol although one of us ordered a spin on the Moscow Mule. Appetizers consisted of: Wings, Cauliflower Tots, Onion Rings. Main dishes were: Social burger, Wagyu Burger, Smash Burger (2), Yoga Flame, Naan Burger, Wild Mushroom Burger. Btw, our Server was Ghia, who was outstanding and amusing. When in the Wheaton area highly recommend this fine spot. Cheers & Mangia!

Great food and awesome atmosphere! The service was a little slow, and my burger came out wrong. It was supposed to have bacon, but they put brisket on it instead. Luckily, I like brisket and it ended up being delicious, so it wasn't a big deal. The mac and cheese, which you can customize with toppings, was probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant. We added chicken tenders, jalapeños, and bacon. The tenders were juicy and full of flavor. We sat outside, and I loved the vibe. I've never really eaten in downtown Wheaton before, and the open outdoor dining area was such a nice surprise. Plenty of seating and a great space. I definitely want to come back!

We really liked this place! My mom has been here a few times and recommended it for us for lunch today. 4 adults, 2 toddlers. Waitress was fantastic! Ended up ordering like 3 cheese curd apps because the peach sauce it came with was ridiculously delicious. Hubs had a draft pale ale Art History, and shared a lamb burger with Opa; I shared a peppermint milkshake and wagu burger; my mom got the Texas burger and kids each got grilled cheese with side of Mac. For all of us was about $130 total before tip. Only food note was the fries were way too seasoned; everything else was top notch. Extra points for being truly family friendly with a changing table in the men's room. Will be back!

I came here to eat on a Thursday with a friend, and we did not need a reservation and were seated within a few minutes. We started off with the fried pickles which were 10/10! We shared the wagyu smash burger and the barbacoa grilled cheese with truffle fries and onion rings. The burger was juicy and I liked the pretzel bun! The egg white was slightly raw on half the burger which wasn't ideal. The barbacoa grilled cheese was good as a sandwich, but it didn't really satisfy as a grilled cheese. Definitely a generous portion of meat! All of the sides were really good and everything came out quickly. Their specialty burgers are all super intriguing and I would definitely come back to try more!

We don't come to downtown Wheaton often but I wanted to try the burgers here. We came on a Wednesday night, we sat at the bar upstairs since they didn't have any tables open. It was a little weird since we saw open tables upstairs for the whole time we were there. That's okay because the bartenders were great and attentive. The burgers do take some time, so if you're starving you'll need an appetizer. We ordered the naan burger with truffle fries and the shrimp burger with macaroni and cheese. Prices were fair for the portions received. -naan burger with truffle fries 4.5 - lamb was cooked well. It practically melted in my mouth, great texture. Truffle fries had a strong truffle flavor which is what I wanted. Fries were crispy not soggy. -shrimp burger with macaroni and cheese 3.5 - I wished there was more shrimp taste, it was okay. Not something I would order again. The macaroni and cheese however made up for the lack of disappointment. It was cheesy and the noodles were soft.

The service here was really great and they were helpful in giving recommendations! The food was all delicious, this was my first time here but I would definitely recommend it for a great burger

The Burger Social is an awesome burger joint in downtown Wheaton! My friend and I met up for dinner and because of the nice weather, we sat outside under the large tented common space that all the restaurants use. I ordered the Chili Relleno Burger and my friend ordered the Barbacoa Burger. Overall the Chili Relleno Burger was good, except the chorizo tasted more like seasoned taco meat. Other than that, it was a good burger. I had a taste of the Barbacoa Burger and that was super flavorful and delicious. And the fries had a good crunch to them. If you're in Wheaton and looking for a good burger, then swing on down to The Burger Social!

Delicious giant onion rings but burger slightly burnt.

Love love love, one star knocked off for my aunts burger being over cooked. ... she loved the onion rings though! My drink of the month was some deliciously good whisky old fashioned that had cognac in it. .. this was a beautiful day in Illinois and we were able to sit by the open window/door despite only being a party of two. I ordered a pear salmon salad which did not disappoint.

Two hazy IPAs and a burger/fries combo

My friends and I were out in the burbs for a cancer walk nearby and afterwards were looking to grab a bite and beer. Found this place on Yelp and came by. We were here on a Saturday and the entire front street was blocked off with canopy tents and seating so it appears they were having a festival of some sort. The Burger Social was fairly busy when we arrived and continued to get busier as time went out. They have TVs for sports fans, however we didn't partake in that and we were also sat in a high top 4 seater by the window which was perfect anyways. Our server was VERY friendly and fairly prompt our entire time. Getting the check paid was the only time it took a while. We all got some hazy IPAs (which are my favorite in general) and I really enjoyed the Noon Whistle Frozen FX. Highly recommend! My friends both got other hazy IPAs and we all were meh about it. While I didn't eat any of the burger, I had some of my friend's fries and they were pretty good! Overall - would recommend!

We decided to give this place another try and that was before I knew of the new ownership. I say this because the staff is new when we went this past Wed. We ordered Texas jalapeño double, onion rings, Cajun fries, and chicken wings. Everything was made fresh. She made my burger like how I wanted it, it was juicy. The burger is much bigger than it looks in the picture btw for a double. You can order a single patty. The jalapeño poppers gave it a nice taste, it wasn't spicy at all. The onion rings were okay, I think I'll skip that next time. The Cajun fries were tasty, not too salty. The chicken wings were flavorful on the outside and I love how these wings are meaty. These are not those tiny ones. There was only one woman that ran everything and she was very kind. Prices were reasonable. This is about a 4.5 out of 5.

I had the single cheeseburger and it lived up to the hype. I learned that the single burger is actually a double and the double is actually a triple. I was recommended to add an egg and bacon to the burger and I'm glad I did. Each bite was a glorious burst of flavor. The bacon is epic. Thick juicy slices. The cheeseburger was perfect. I didn't need additional condiments and that never happens for me. The fries were good too and came with a delicious aioli. For beverages, I loved my Arnold Palmer. I also tried a cocktail--the Long Island Iced Coffee. It was pretty strong. I added a shot of bourbon cream to it and that sweetened it up and made it perfect for me. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for dessert. Cute restaurant. Cozy inside. They have an outdoor patio as well. If you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait. Excellent food. The process of getting seated through a busy period, and the service throughout was excellent. But as often happens with me, the food didn't live up to the hype. My wife and I were picking up my brother and his son from O'Hare at around 10 am on a Saturday. We had dinner plans with our uncle, but had not planned anything in between. The flight came in on time, and once confirmed we all had the time, my brother suggested going to Chicago to try Au Cheval. He knew about their location LV, but none of us had tried their original location in Chicago. So we drove into Chicago, arriving at the restaurant at 11 (it opens at 10am). There was a check-in stand set-up outside, where someone was taking names/phone numbers to put on the waiting list. We were quoted a 45 minute wait, and got the text to hurry back after about 30 minutes. There was a line to put your name down on the list, so we skipped that by going right in. The friendly hostess seated us in a booth, with a nice view of the kitchen where they were making the burgers in mass. The waitress explained that a single burger meant two patties (each patty is 4 oz, so basically a half pound burger), and a double meaning three. My brother and his son both ordered a double cheeseburger ($19.99 each), and I got a single with added sunny side up egg ($21.48). I wanted my wife to be able to take a bite, so asked for everything to be on the side (sauce, dill pickle slices, and grilled onion bits). We also ordered french fries ($8.99), cooked in duck fat. In the meanwhile, followed a fellow yelpers suggestion and got two Allagash Whites ($9 each) for me and my nephew. It's a really good beer that I've had many times during happy hour, and goes great with rich, greasy food. My wife got something else: the General Janes Chicken, which is their version of Korean Fried Chicken ($24.98). She enjoyed it (the coating was still crispy, and the sauce had that pronounced kochujang flavor that we like). Everything is a la carte here (except for the complementary pickle spear with burgers), so she shared in the ordered fries. Food came out together and was served hot. There is a mandatory 3.25% surcharge, and payment is taken at the table. As mentioned, service was excellent throughout. To be honest, I'm not the right person to judge a burger like this (I like it backyard style, with a lot of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles...and mayo/ketchup). But my brother and nephew are (they have tried many, many burgers all across the world, and don't like too much toppings on their burger), and they said the burger was just OK for them. I liked the frites (cooked in duck fat)...very light in color, but still crispy on the outside. However, nobody else really ate them, saying they weren't great. It's unusual for me to be the least critical after dining, but I'm sure it had something to do with the observation that I didn't have to pay for it (since it was my brother's treat).

Today we ordered a maple bacon milkshake, peanut butter milkshake, 1/4 pound grilled cheese burger on toast, 1/2 pound New Orleans burger and a shareable basket of parmesan truffle fries. Let's start with the positives, the shakes were well made and not overwhelmingly sweet and we liked that a lot. My husband's 1/2 pound burger seemed a little small and my grilled cheese burger said it would be on Texas toast but it seemed like it was sourdough bread and not really thick cut like Texas toast should be. I was looking forward to eating here because the pictures of the fries online looked long and thick cut, the basket of fries we got didn't look like that at all and lacked Parmesan cheese. The negative experience was the fact the water tasted weird. I took one sip and tasted a weird chemical taste but my husband and I didn't complain, we just paid and left. I don't know if it was the water or the cup but it definitely had a weird taste. Overall, the experience was ok. I think we had higher expectations seeing all the pictures online.
