I travel for work and so I have the opportunity to try many different places. I try to frequent local places and base my reviews heavily on service, then food. Today was a good experience. I just worked out and called to ask about the dress code. No dress code, I'll be right there! I walked in and was greeted immediately and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and gave me time to decide without feeling rushed even as I changed my mind a couple times. I ordered the salmon and Mad Rose to drink. The drink has a lot going on and wasn't for me. It reminded me of a cinnamon orange tea, citrus and spicy. For dinner, I waffled on a couple fish dishes, but went with the salmon. It has a nice, crunchy glaze on it with some nice citrus flavors that weren't overbearing. I wasn't sure how the risotto would taste with the orange, but it worked. I was asked several times how I was doing and how my drinks and food were. Dining solo, I get ignored at times with subpar service. Not tonight access I appreciate that. The branzino was easily one of the best seasoned I have ever eaten and have certainly eaten a fair amount of fish in my life . We were sat immediately and drinks were ordered right away. Our server had great communication and attentiveness. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the drinks but they both were good. One was a raspberry drink special, and mine was like a smoked old fashion. Both were fantastic. For dinner we ordered calamari and deviled eggs. The devil eggs were good but the bacon and maple syrup overpowered the egg flavor. They were still tasty. The calamari... omg! This calamari has a different twist and it is some of the most phenomenal calamari I have ever had. The reading is crispy but not over cooked. The sauce is not generic marinara sauce. It's a basil oil with chili sauce mixed. Wow!!!! You gotta try it. For dinner, we ordered a side of Brussels sprouts. And Long Island strip wagyu and stone axe wagyu. 2 of us ordered medium rare and my wife selected medium. All three were slightly overcooked. My wife wanted to send hers back and they absolutely did everything to make it right. And they were also fast at doing so. The Brussels spouts were very good. Crispy, bacon, mmmmm. Anthony Vai and his staff were top notch from start to finish. We started with the calamari, spicy tuna crispy rice, and spring rolls, then moved on to the halibut special, steak frites, vodka pasta, and white fish. Every dish was excellent. And Sandy's white wine remains our favorite dessert ever. We couldn't be happier. The Vais (Michael, Anthony, and Nick) and their partners, Sandy and Pete, hold a special place in our hearts. Stopped here on a whim (Thursday evening) and it happened to be during the carnival. Was able to sit outside immediately with no reservation. Our server was friendly and attentive. The drink was very refreshing and pretty. The beef stroganoff was good but too much rosemary in it. It overpowered the dish. The lamb chops were also good but way too much char and too much rosemary in this dish too. My suggestion would be to put a little pile or sprig on the dish so people can take it off if they don't like it. read more

Great food. The mix of unique flavors was amazing. We stopped for a late lunch. Had the deviled egg and Brussel sprouts appetizers. Sounds odd but the sweetness gave a unique experience to the traditional deviled egg. Brussels sprouts were fairly traditional and good if you're a fan. Entrees were the Delmonico Ribeye and Pistachio crusted whitefish. Both were amazing. I felt like Remy in Ratatouille enjoying the blend of colorful flavors. Finished off with Key Lime Pie, another great choice. The food does not disappoint. The atmosphere was nice and upscale but not overly fancy. Great music played in background at a volume able to be heard and allowed for conversation. The server was great with balancing ensuring we had full water glasses and next phases/courses of our experience. The food courses were spaced out and giving time to enjoy each equally. I know this place is relatively new so they may be trying to find their grove still but our server forgot to place our drink order and was not as attentive. I would definitely come back to try more of their small plates (which aren't small at all LOL) so it's a good size for the price you get- especially if you come for happy hour. Some of our favorites were the calamari, deviled eggs, and the shrimp and grits. We also liked their drinks, so we have to come back. Definitely looking to get the old fashioned, probably for the presentation haha. While we enjoyed the food, the service wasn't the best. Once we were seated, it took a while until our server had come over to our table, so we were mainly waiting. During the meal it went better, but we ordered a second round of drinks and after quite a bit of waiting, they realized that our order wasn't put in... in full transparency, we were given a complimentary small plate upon return because of the wait, which does help a bit, but that did add to the overall experience. The drawback of Entourage - and why it took us so long to go there - is that they don't take reservations. We were able to call ahead and get on a priority list, but not ideal if you're meeting another couple there. It is a small restuarant - only 19 tables - and little room to wait. The intimacy of the restaurant was nice - and our service was excellent. They do have outside seating during the summer - next to the train - but still anything that has outside seating is a plus. I've always thought it was primarily a steakhouse, but I disagree with that assumption in that there were several other dishes on the menu that I would recommend. For example - we started with the spicy shrimp and grits and it was the best thing we had. Lovely spice and just very delicious. For entrees - I got the filet - adding a horseradish topping and my husband got the lobster and shrimp rigatoni. My steak came with a potato side, sun dried tomatoes and pickled onions. I ordered the steak medium, but it was more than medium. Thankfully, I had the horseradish / tomatoes / onions to top it with b/c otherwise, the steak was a little dry. The potato side was also bland. Not the best steak I've had before - that's for sure. On the other hand, my husband loved his dish and would highly recommend it. We also got the banana cream pie for dessert - off the advice of a friend. However - not sure I would recommend it - or she just built it up in our mind. read more

I took V to Entourage to celebrate his birthday, and it turned out to be a fantastic evening from start to finish. We arrived on a Friday night just before 9:00 PM and had no trouble finding street parking--always a win. We were greeted by our waitress, Jennifer, who was absolutely amazing. She let us know about their late-night perk: half-price small plates and select drinks on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 PM until close, which is such a great incentive for heading out later in the evening. Jennifer was attentive without being intrusive--our water glasses were always full, she checked in after every course, and her recommendations for both food and drinks were spot-on. We started with a Mad Rose for V and a Chameleon for me. Both cocktails were delicious, and after finishing his Mad Rose, V definitely felt the celebratory spirit kicking in. For appetizers, we shared the Vietnamese Summer Rolls and Sweet Chili Calamari. The summer rolls were light, fresh, and nicely accented with mint. The calamari was sweet with a surprisingly spicy finish--delicious, though the heat was just a bit much for V. I'd happily order both again. For my main course, I had the Wagyu Beef Stroganoff, and wow--hands down the best stroganoff I've ever had. The beef was incredibly tender, and the sauce was perfectly balanced with the noodles. It even paired beautifully with my Chameleon, with subtle lemon notes that complemented each other surprisingly well. V ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop, cooked medium well and absolutely perfect. He loved every bite. It came with a risotto that he enjoyed, even if it wasn't the standout of the dish. Dessert sealed the deal. We finished with Sandy's White Wine Cake--which reminded me of a carrot cake in the best way--and the Banana Cream Pie, which was easily the best banana cream pie I've ever had. Truly a WOW moment. Between the excellent food, thoughtful service, and great late-night specials, Entourage made V's birthday celebration one to remember. We'll definitely be back. After a long final day of a conference in the Chicago suburbs, I really did not feel like dealing with traffic or going out to dine solo, so tonight called for delivery. I ordered from Entourage Downers Grove and was honestly impressed with how well everything held up for delivery. The standout for me was the lobster bisque. It arrived at the perfect temperature, which is pretty impressive for delivery. The bisque was rich and luscious without feeling overly heavy, and the basil oil added a nice brightness that balanced the creaminess beautifully. It also had a generous amount of lobster, including several large chunks, and was a very solid portion overall. The filet mignon sliders were another highlight. Each slider had a substantial piece of filet mignon topped with pickled onions, microgreens, and horseradish cream on brioche buns. The onions and horseradish added enough acidity and bite to balance the richness of the beef without overpowering it. I also tried the Vietnamese summer rolls, filled with roasted shiitake mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles, served with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. Everything tasted very fresh, and the sauces complemented the generously stuffed rolls nicely. My only small critique is that cutting them in half made for a prettier presentation, but made them a little awkward to dip and eat. Entourage is one of the most popular restaurants in downtown Downers Grove. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead for priority seating, which does not reserve but reduces the wait time. We have tried to do walk-in and were turned away before so highly recommend calling ahead. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The cocktails, food, and service were all wonderful. I would note that the seafood pasta, which I don't recall the menu name of, was a bit watered down and bland. The shrimp and grits was very flavorful and delicious! I had lunch at Entourage on a cold gray day, so wanted something warm and spicy. This pasta dish was it! The shrimp were large enough to cut in half, with fresh spinach leaves, grilled jalapeño slices and tiny tomatoes over the pasta and cream sauce. Two pieces of garlic bread came on the side, which get extra points for having fresh garlic and rosemary in them. The service was very attentive and friendly, with a soothing ambiance created by dark wall colors and high ceilings. Decided to try a new place in downtown Downers, I saw there was lobster bisque in the menu, and I'm a sucker for lobster bisque. The restaurant itself was very welcoming, clean, and trendy looking. We really enjoyed the ambiance. My husband got the steak and eggs, his steak was okay, cooked to the right temp, just not our favorite cut. My salad was good, the dressing needed a touch more acid, almost as good as Gibson's lobster salad, which they sadly don't have on the menu anymore. The lobster bisque was thick and rich, my husband really liked it, but I felt like I was drinking cream. I love cream, but expected something different from this.
