Often times it's just easier to order in and grab the food from downstairs. Again didn't want anything heavy, so went with the beet salad. You don't get very much for $15 beside the greens, about three beats, just a couple of candied walnuts, and a cup of Italian dressing. Credit to the salad because it was fresh. I'm not disappointed in the taste of the food, but more in the quantity. I did add some protein to it. I went with salmon again. My go to protein. Credit to the salmon it was a good size cut and it was very tasty. Not fishy. The Italian dressing leaves a lot to be desired. You would think strawberry vinaigrette might be more apropos. read more

This was our first time back at B. Restaurant at the Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort since the pandemic. We went on a random Thursday night so there were not many people in the hotel or the restaurant. We grabbed a hightop near the bar as there were sports playing on the TVs. There were a couple of guys and a couple eating dinner at the bar, but it wasn't too loud at all. It took a little while to get service since there was only one bartender serving the bar area, but it was fine - just an observation. The bartender was super nice and accommodating. She's great! The entire menu has changed since our last visit. No more pot au feu. No more honey ricotta bread. No more mozzarella sticks. We really liked those from prior visits, but we ended up trying new items which were pretty good. And although the menu prices have gone up a bit from before, they were not astronomical, especially for hotel food. The best things on the new menu are the appetizers. We had the wings, the calamari, ahi tuna, french onion soup, and cream of asparagus. All were delicious. For entrees, I think my best advice is to skip the steak and short rib. Both were a bit tough and chewy. The scallops with risotto was really good. Mac and cheese was great if you like a more swiss cheese base (not so much cheddar). Truffle fries were outstanding. Desserts were a bit hit or miss. The chocolate cake was nice and rich. The kids sundae was good. The seasonal creme brulee was peppermint, but unfortunately the combination did not work well together, so this was a miss for us. Overall, I think this is a solid 4.5 star restaurant with the potential to be 5 star if they tweak some of their food offerings. read more

We enjoyed some delicious vegetarian dishes including the Moroccan soup, watermelon mozzarella basil tomato salad, and fried rice before the grilled Mahi Mahi with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We finished with the (homemade daily) bread pudding and vanilla cheesecake from Oat Mill Bakery. The servers were very attentive- our water glass would never get below 70% full. Hotel bars/ restaurants are a toss up but I liked this place. Service was good and staff were friendly. Food- ordered the wings dry and asked for sauce on the side. Wings were really good and at least 10 in my order. Also ordered a side of asparagus which in the end was a good call. Liked the sweetness from the balsamic glaze. This might become a go to side for me with wings. Drinks- had a white wine and can't complain. Overall enjoyed the experience and if you're at the resort then suggest you give it a GO. read more

A HIVE OF ACTIVITY Sustainable. Daring. Exceptional. This contemporary farm-to-table restaurant in the lobby of the Hilton Chicago Oak Brook Hills is the best kept secret in the suburbs (shhhhhh!) I'd have never known 'B' even existed were it not for the Yelp event here several months ago. I recall the experience being a very positive one and was delighted to discover that the quality of food and service held up following a separate visit. As with all of my reviews from late 2016 going forward, the header is a clever play on the business' model or theme. In this instance, it's the multitude of on-property beehives tended to by the hotel resort staff. Many of the dishes incorporate their in-house honey to some extent. Everything from the strikingly attractive menu, to the names of some dishes, and even the restaurant title itself reference its origins in locally-owned beehives. I can't not think about G.O.B's ill-advised bee business from Arrested Development ("beads." "bees?" "bees!?!" "yeah gob's not on board") My mom and I were sat around 7pm on a weeknight and snagged a table by the window. Our server took solid care of us overall, a bit impassive but polite and thorough. The ambient music here is SO GOOD: lounge-ish, kinda clubby with a hint of deep house and electro funk. Very tasteful. Time for the food breakdown. I'll try and keep this under the maximum character limit..... ¤ 'pot au feu' ($6) : this delicious beef broth soup consisted of slagel farms oxtail and seasonal carrots with a large piece of bone marrow. Although I'm told there was a small amount of gelatin added as filler, the bone marrow was still great. You'd easily pay triple this price anywhere in the city. ¤ 'b.autumn' living salad ($9) : this colorful starter course was made with pepper lettuce, pickled squash, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), and a light honey squash vinaigrette. It was refreshing but looked better than it tasted. ¤ 'augustus' living salad ($10) : essentially their take on a classic caesar salad (hence the name), it was bibb lettuce, honey crumble, shaved romaina cheese and creamy garlic dressing. Mi madre said it was good, I believe her. ¤ pork fritters ($9) : breaded & fried ground pork meatballs with chorizo spices, pickled veggies and a WONDERFUL parsnip turmeric sauce that evoked memories of some of my favorite Indo-pak curries. Very good. ¤ winter risotto ($7) : a filling but flavorful dish fashioned with parmagiana, truffle butter, diced granny smith apple and dried celery root. Rich and decadent. ¤ duck pizza ($14) : a terrific thin crust pie featuring a cherry glaze base (i.e. the red sauce), topped with onions, fennel, sweet potato purée and maple leaf duck confit. It was just as incredible as it sounds. ¤ 'milk n honey' ($6) : a whimsical tres leches cake with a tremendous buttermilk panna cotta, topped with dehydrated milk foam, honey oatmeal crumble, and decorated with white chocolate shards. Along with the other dessert, the plating and taste of this course absolutely blew us away. ¤ ' kickin smores tart' ($6) : a series of toasted meringue dollops highlighted this "campfire nouveau" dish with graham cracker dust, chocolate phyllo slices, and an avant-garde chocolate marquis that was enriched with jerk seasoning. A very bold move on their part and it paid off BIG TIME. I would be remiss not to mention that in lieu of the boilerplate rolls & butter, 'B' serves sweet bread with whipped ricotta cheese and homemade honey. So there's that awesomeness. Bread = 5+ Circuses = 4.5 *TL;DR* Just go ahead and award executive chef Sean Patrick Curry and his staff a Michelin star. Seriously, the dishes were on-par with something you'd receive at Dusek's, Longman & Eagle, or The Purple Pig, and cost only fraction as much. Plate presentation and attention to detail were simply STELLAR. 'B' is a true hidden gem, and part of me wants it to stay that way. As much as I enjoy the food at trendy places like Girl & the Goat, Parachute, and Roister, it can become impossible to snag a table at those spots which makes me less inclined to take someone there. I foresee -- and pray for -- a long and successful future for these guys. If 'B' can manage to attract new customers and continue to produce consistently spectacular menu items, then they'll avoid "colony collapse disorder" and make a "whole lotta honey" in the process. read more

The restaurant week's menu only have noodle bowl options. Regular menu has bowls and pizza choices. I'm really not a fan for pizza so naturally chose the short rib bowl. Picked salad as a starter which looked beautiful and tasted great. Short rib bowl was served in an unique way. The noodles and toppings were put in a bowl and served first. Then broth was added to the bowl. All beautiful and special. The only thing is that my buckwheat noodles were totally over cooked. Beef was tender and soft. Broth was good. The kimchi in the noodles were a little off. Was not impressed at all. Desert was decent and very oriental. A few soup my friends tried were pretty good. Maybe come back and try those out. read more

It was convenient for my husband and I to get breakfast in the restaurant the two mornings we were there for the annual FamilyLife "A Weekend to Remember" marriage retreats. When you get there, be sure to check in on Yelp. A 20% off coupon should pop up. It's good towards the whole check! The breakfast buffet was pretty good. Definitely better than most hotel breakfasts...probably because it's not complimentary. It is $15/person. Last year they had a man behind the counter who would make you an omelet. I didn't check for that this year. The buffet has eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, fruit, delicious roasted potatoes, cereals, danishes, toast and more. We grabbed our food and choose a table by the window, with a view of the pond. Nice and bright. We'll be back if we are at this hotel again. Convenient and suits our needs. read more

Totally lovely dining experience at B. Restaurant. Our server, Angelika, was personable, efficient and had flawless skin (okay, okay, off topic but still noteworthy). The open concept dining space offers a calming view of manicured green spaces adorned with vibrant flowers. The clientele on our Thursday night visit consisted mostly of men dining alone and dressed in typical business casual clothes. The scene, although classy, left a little energy to be desired. My girlfriend and I ordered a couple of glasses of wine along with the following three plates to share: roasted beet salad, roasted Brussels sprouts, and pizza with brie and pancetta. All three dishes were absolutely delicious and more than enough for the two of us. I would definitely return to try more impressive dishes at B. Restaurant. It was the perfect spot to grab dinner and drinks before heading five minutes down the road to an outdoor performance of "As You Like It" with First Folio Theatre. read more

Interesting concept that the B. Restaurant aims for sustainable eating by prioritizing locally grown and in season meats and vegetables for their farm to table menu. We went for lunch on this occasion and a quick glance at their menu and you can see that the menu is pretty simple, highlighting a few starters, soups & salads, main entrees, and sides. Because the restaurant sits inside the hotel, it has an open, airy, and modern vibe to it. Floor to ceiling windows provides natural lighting into the hotel/ restaurant and a view of the hotel property's lush gazebo garden area. We tried the beef brisket with seasoned fries, the B burger with fries, a side of brussel sprouts, a side of mac & cheese, paired with a few drinks. Strauss Beef Brisket & fries: Homemade over roasted beef brisket with herbs and spices, topped with honey peach BBQ, on a French baguette with green onions and smoked paprika aioli and house spiced fries. The wife as not a fan of the honey peach BBQ sauce that was slathered on top of the brisket. The brisket itself was a little tough and on the dry side. It was an open face sandwich, which was a little hard to eat with your hands. She ended up using a fork and knife to chow down. The spice fries were phenomenal. I wish I could have gotten spiced fries with the burger. The wife had an ice tea with it. the B burger with fries : Ground brisket beef patty, bacon, smoked cheese, tomato marmalade, and mustard aioli. I have to admit that I had omitted the tomato marmalade from my burger because I am just not a fan of tomato in general, but the freshness of the ingredients with the seasoning of smoked cheese, bacon, and aioli was good. I wasn't overly impressed with the fries, as I felt that they were your pretty standard fries. I paired the burger with their Honey Hefeweisen beer, which was pretty standard in terms of specialty beer for a wheat ale. Nicole's brussel sprouts: crispy brussel sprouts, pork belly, and harissa honey butter. I generally do not enjoy brussel sprouts, and it does not look appealing in all the pictures. However, the sprouts were charred, the pork belly works, and the honey butter was delectable. It made a vegetable that I found to be inedible under any and all circumstances to be wonderful. It's a must try. Mac & Cheese: shells pasta noodle, 3 cheese garlic cream sauce, garlic bread crumbs, topped with finely chopped chives. This dish was okay. I felt that they could have put more sauce and added more salt it. My son had a $5 organic kids milk with this $5 mac and cheese. read more

Service from Gary was 10/5 stars. Though the hotel front desk messed up twice with their inaccurate info, Gary surely made up for the mishap with his kindness and approachability. For breakfast you MUST get the surf and turf eggs Benedict and blueberry crapes. The surf and turf is by far the best deal. Steak was perfectly cooked when asked for medium rare slightly more rare and the crab cake is made with LEGIT crab and not stuffing or that fake crab garbage. The blueberries were so fresh it blended very well with the cream cheese. Other items were mediocre and especially since they costed the same as the surf and turf. The OJ tastes AMAZING as well! Just had to give 4 stars due to how most items weren't good at all and costed the same amount as the Benedict. To Hilton: Originally wouldn't have visited the hotel again due to the rudeness and false information I received at front desk the night before, luckily the service received from Gary made up for all the mishaps. As a Diamond member would most likely visit again b/c of my experience and as a hotel you're lucky to have such a valuable employee that goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction! read more

Such a delicious, inventive, and locally driven restaurant tucked away in the Oak Brook Hills resort! The ambiance is very chill and lounge-like. They offer high top tables closer to the bar, and more comfortable couch settings in the entry way of the restaurant. To get to B. inside of the Oak Brook Hills resort, just walk through the main doors and take a left and you'll find the host stand. I enjoyed a couple glasses of their red blend wine which was very good. I love that they offer a very unique complimentary bread set up including honey and ricotta. Their whole menu looked delicious and it changes seasonally (obviously I'll be back), so this made it difficult to choose what I wanted to order. I ended up going with their black been burger and a side of chips which was an excellent decision! This black bean burger is out of this world and very unique. There is a ciabatta roll on the bottom, then the black bean patty, then a mushroom risotto cake, sharp provolone, and pesto and tomato to top it all off! Definitely something I had to eat with a fork, but man those flavors were paired perfectly. It comes with fries on the side with your choice of chips or fruit instead, and I opted for the chips. The chips were really good and natural tasting - cut right from potatoes. Service was great and prices are reasonable as well! Can't wait to bring my husband back with me to try B! read more

Great little restaurant inside the Hilton hotel. We can only imagine that travelers that eat here are extremely shocked and happy about how good the place is and how interesting the menu items are. It was a very, very cold day and the restaurant with the floor-to-ceiling windows was a tad cold. We all had our coats draped around us and one of us kept it on the entire meal. Not sure that we have any agreement with previous Yelpers about the ricotta and bread given for free. The ricotta was fine, the honey was fine, the bread lacked salt, and all in all it was OK maybe because it was a weekend night and the restaurant was almost empty we didn't get well toasted or maybe not even fresh bread. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, very tender, with a nice seasoning that complemented the meat without overpowering it. The sausage pizza had a nice crisp crust, and good flavor overall. Our only problem was that it came out for the person who ordered it at least five minutes after everyone else's entrées had arrived. Oops - guess they forgot to start it on time. The half chicken was flavorful, moist and tender. My order was strange as I was looking to taste more than one appetizer for dinner so I tried the chorizo croquettes which were nothing like I expected them to be. They were fine but didn't really have that strong Spanish chorizo flavor I was hoping for them to have. The tatsoi salad with mushrooms and roasted pears was OK too but the dressing and all of the other items in the salad were underneath the lettuce which was laid on top of it. Very strange presentation unless you were really only interested in seeing the little bundles of tatsoi. Their version of the Manhattan was way too sweet, although it did come stirred, not shaking and left the cheery. So it looks nice but wasn't as good as the others. Went on a Saturday night. We had reservations for 7:30. My husband HAD RESERVATIONS though of a different kind! Lol He didn't really want to eat here because 1. It was pretty empty, and 2. He travels A LOT and didn't want to eat at a hotel restaurant. After finding everywhere else was booked, he succumbed to eating here, reluctantly. Well, the food was really delicious! We had the pork fritters (tasty, be warned they have curry/cumin in it), lamb meat balls (yummy) to start. For mains, I had the salmon and scallops. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the skin crispy and delicious. The scallops perfectly seared. My husband had the pork cheeks; they were melt in your mouth succulent. Dessert was the kickin' s'mores; a kind of DIY smores with a earthy, spiced chocolate fudge squares, toasted marshmallow discs, and graham cracker powder. My husband had the pandowdy, which was like a crumble. To drink, we had a lovely organic prosecco. This restaurant really is a hidden gem. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Don't discount it because it's a "hotel restaurant". We will DEFINITELY be coming back, I really want to try the living salad and the duck pizza. read more

I found this place to be average at best. The layout of the restaurant is kind of strange. The food was good overall, but the service was lacking. We stood at the empty host stand for quite some time without acknowledgement. The server we had was nice enough, but disappeared for long periods of time. I had the chicken and it was ok. My wife had the scallops, which were above average. Both my kids had cheeseburgers off the kid's menu and they were bigger than most kid's size burgers. I definitely would not go out of my way to come back here. There are much better options in Oak Brook. read more

I really like the food and atmosphere. Loved the Brussels sprouts. The bartender was so incredibly rude to us that we won't return. It's a shame because it ruined our evening with his passive aggressive way. Best part is there was two of us and he tacked on 18% gratuity. I'm glad I checked the bill because there was the option also left to include the tip and I'm known for tipping big but he didn't deserve anything with his rudeness. B. is everything I've been looking for in a restaurant. It's the type of place I would go downtown to enjoy, but thankfully I can practically walk here. You walk into the restaurant and you're presented with beautiful upscale modern decor and a breathtaking view. But it's the food that makes me want to come back. The farm-to-table menu is filled with awesome things like duck pizza and lamb meatballs, and everything is spectacular. I had the luxury of being able to sample many of the items at a recent event, but yesterday was the first time my wife and I came on our own. Sure, it was the coldest day of the year and there was absolutely nobody else there. I guess on Sunday afternoons the only item available is pizza in the off-hours before they begin serving dinner. But that was absolutely fine with us, because it was the pizza we wanted. With a massive fire-burning oven, we watched our pizzas go in and out in what felt like seconds. They were cooked to perfection and included delicious toppings like duck, brie, sweet potato and bacon. Delicious. Two were actually a bit more than we needed, but we finished every last bite. The server was delightful too. Very friendly and didn't seem at all annoyed by the fact that we were kind of intruding on what was otherwise probably a very quiet afternoon. She was pleasant and as friendly as can be. My wife agreed that we'll both be back and look forward to trying other things on the menu. Wonderfully nice and attentive waitress, classy look/atmosphere, very good live jazz in the background (up until some guys started making requests), and most importantly, great, fresh, unique, local food! B. Restaurant is inside the Hilton, so just walk into the lobby and go left. The food bats way above a hotel restaurant, so don't let that throw you off! The menu was full of uncommon items like lamb meatballs and bone marrow soup. A favorite of ours was the bizarre, but really fun to eat still growing salad. It's essentially a deconstructed salad where the lettuce is a well cleaned cute little planter lettuce still in the dirt pod. They give you little sheers and tongs and you cut your own fresh-as-it-gets lettuce. If that doesn't sound up your alley, they'll gladly bring you the same salad in fully cut, ready to eat form. The burger I had was great. Not the absolute best burger I've had, but the flavors were really full, unique, and delicious and the cook was the proper rare I requested. The fries were clearly made to order - very fresh - well salted with some additional spices, elevating them above just regular fries. The coffee we had after was also pretty good, a pleasant surprise as most after dinner coffee is lacking. I can't say enough good about our waitress. Angelika had seen the OpenTable reservation special requests I made and recalled everything about the reservation the second I said the name. She helpfully explained all of the fresh and unique things on the menu, accommodating my mother's gluten free needs, and continually made sure we had everything we needed all while being friendly and not at all overbearing. It was night, but from what I can tell, the views out the floor to ceiling windows are quite nice in the day, so coming here for a brunch may be in my near future. I highly recommend B. Pot Au Feu soup (oxtail, beef, bone marrow) was very tasty. Salad was fresh. Pizza was good too. Presentation of the food were very pretty and thoughtful. However, noodle bowls were disappointing. We ordered short rib bowl and shrimp bowl. Short rib bowl had buck wheat noodle, Kimchee, tender well cooked short ribs (I have to give them credit for this) in beef broth. I admit that this is a good idea and seems be interesting. However, the noodle were over cooked and lost its texture. The shrimp bowl was no better. It had thin rice noodle (over cooked), shrimp (over cooked), in beef broth(is it suppose to be seafood broth?!) and lacking flavor. I like noodles in general and can imagine these noodle bowl could be very tasty and refreshing. Too bad both dishes were executed poorly. Still recommend this little, clean, contemporary decor-ed place. Just stay away from those noodles. read more

The setting and food for breakfast is excellent. The problem with this restaurant is that is poorly managed for breakfast service. When the buffet is open it works pretty well. The people get their food and staff provides water and coffee and clears plates. The staff are eager to please. Sometimes there are communication issues. When the buffet is closed the service falls apart. Management staffs the same as if the buffet was open. The staff cannot keep up with the demand. The servers are not assigned stations and nobody knows what is going on. Language barriers cause orders to be screwed up. Management really needs to address these issues with breakfast. This place was phenomenal! We started out with the lamb meatballs and calamari which were out of this world! I had the signature soup with the bone marrow and it was unlike anything I've ever had before. Pizzas were good too. The retaurant is located inside the Hilton hotel in Oakbrook. Its got a very retro chic vibe but lets talk about the food. Absolutely delicious! Love the bread with ricotta and honey, never thought of eating bread this way. The garden salad tastes crisp and fresh and the dressing is light and flavorful The basil and garlic pasta is simple but full of fresh flavors. The black bean burger is scrumptious and the freshly made potato chips that goes with it, is to die for. Grilled asparagus with the slight smoky flavor is one those things that you cant stop eating. We also got the margherita pizza and mashed potatoes which were good. Finally, we got the milk and honey and the choccolate desserts. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was 5 star quality. Definitely going back! My only criticism is that the bussers were in too much of a rush to take our plates away. read more

I went at 11:40 on a Friday for lunch. Usually a restaurant inside of a hotel will have some sort of advertising or signage on the outside but this didn't. Fortunately I read a few Yelp! reviews that said to go in the main door and go left, which I did and it opens into the restaurant, which is not a private space. It's wide open though. There is a hostess stand but no one was there during lunch. I walked around for a few minutes before a guy came out and gave me a menu. I was literally the only person in there so I just sat at the bar because it would have been awkward to sit anywhere else in an open, empty restaurant. Then another guy came and gave me water. He said wait and a server would be out shortly. After a few minutes, the server came, who was actually quite pleasant. I also liked that they offered lemon in the water, and it was fresh lemon (not one that had been out for 4 days). After the initial oddity, the service was good. I just don't know why at least starting at maybe 11:30 they don't have someone outside at the bar or hostess stand. I was actually about to leave when the guy walked out. About 15 minutes later another guy came in and sat at the bar. I didn't hear exactly what he said but it sounded like he ordered a drink. After a few minutes, he called the guy over and said just to forget it. I wasn't sure if he felt it was taking too long or what the issue was. So it was back to just me. Then a group of four came in and sat right behind me. That was the only guests the entire hour or so I was there. The wine markup was pretty substantial. They had Dom for $300; you can get that for $275 at some places downtown so the markup just seemed too high. I got the steak wedge salad and it was decent. The steak was hanger, which is not my favorite cut but they did cook it medium rare. I got the ranch dressing because it already had blue cheese on it and I don't think it's made in house. The ingredients were fresh though and I liked the tomato but I didn't get any egg. If it was added, it was hidden pretty well. I would prefer raw shallot but that is just a personal preference. The shallot was fried crispy. Overall, a bit strange ambiance, good service once it got going and decent food. I would go back but not go out of my way. read more
