Driven past this place a zillion times :) and decided to give it a go, mostly because of favorable reviews here on Yelp. I ordered the #4, Gyros, fries and a drink. Gyro had to be one of the best, generous amounts of meat, tomato, onion and Tzatziki sauce. Pita was nice and fresh, very soft and flavorful. Really, really tasty! Fries done just right and a good helping! My wife ordered the turkey and cheese sub special with a drink. She didn't get chips which were to be included, don't know if it was our fault or theirs but with all the fries I got, we had enough to share. She said the sub was "pretty good" and she really liked the bread, fresh nice and soft. Noting fancy inside, just good comfort food at a real good price. For the above, $16 and change, not bad at all. Take a drive across the street (Rt. 38) to Rathje park and enjoy your food. A really good, tasty place on the west side of town....we'd go back!!! read more

Soo I tried a gyro. Their sauce was bland and horrible I've never had a bland gyro soo it was clumpy and just nasty. Not only that they don't fill the pita with much meat that was weird also. They should change their fries those sucked also. Won't be eating there ever again. I know cost of everything is going up but skimming on meat and not filling a fry bag up is crazy we are paying for it soo it's ok to not be cheap on the meat and fries just saying. read more

I really understand that the food costs have gone way out of control but if something's working you don't really break that situation all these places are changing their food products and substituting with cheaper product and while that may save you money and you can raise the price the customer notices and when the food is inedible that'll be I'm not coming back. Staff and owners are very pleasant and polite. The food is really good! Gyros, Burgers, Greek/Chicken salads, Combo and Italian Beef meals are always my go to's. Each month they have a new special which is a deep discount for one of their main menu items. Last month (September) gyros were only $3.99 and there was no limit! I often pop in to Poor Boy Subs 2 for their fountain drinks because they're so delicious... cantaloupe, cucumber, pineapple, and I think they also have horchata, but I haven't had that one yet. Today I ordered a pepper and egg sandwich that was super delicious... cooked just right, with the right amount of peppers, on a fresh, French bread with a crisp outside and soft inside. I did laugh because the kid who took our order didn't know what hummus was when I asked if they had it on the menu (I thought it was Greek owned but may be wrong!!). I was on this side of town and noticed this place. We went in and tried the hot dogs and gyro platter. The food was spot on. Meat was tender, hot and very tasty, without being overly salty. The fries were hot, not salted. Perfect. Hot dogs are hot dogs. Can't mess those up. The amount of food is good for price. We took home leftovers. The place is small but very clean. Poor Boy 2 is a restaurant serving Chicago Style Food located in Wheaton off of Roosevelt Road. Inside there are a few tables, some stools and a counter to sit on. A large menu board to the left of the order counter showing all of their menu items, and even a few picnic tables outside the door. First off let me go over the Hot Dog served here. The hot dog they serve is a Red Hot Chicago branded dog served on a soft non-poppy seed bun. To my delight the pickle is thinly cut, they use the right amount of onions, relish, mustard and use sport peppers that are neither too hot or too large which properly compliment the dog itself. The relish used is a little sour, and I don't detect any celery salt. But beyond those few flaws this is a good quality Chicago style hot dog. Where Poor Boy's excels even more is at grilling things, their burgers have nice thin well grilled patties with a nice char flavor to them, their chicken sandwich is good as well. Overall Poor Boy 2 is a quality establishment serving traditional Chicago-Style eats. I recommend it! read more

This is as unpretentious as it gets for lunch: a variety of affordable sandwich options with only a few tables. My dad and I both had the Italian beef: thin, crennelated slices of beef on a roll that held up well to a dip in the juice. I wish they had put the fries separately; half of them got waterlogged being on the same tray. Service was fine, food came out quickly, and we got there just before a rush hit so we did get a table. Parking is a bit tight. Overall though, this is a solid lunch choice near downtown Wheaton. read more

Been to this place 3 times this month. The food is exceptional. The best gyro in the area in my opinion. I don't know what they do to that pita, but it's amazing!!!! Everything on the menu has been great. What really makes this place is the people who work there. There's a young man who works the cash register and takes phone orders. He is always so nice and polite. A real pleasure to deal with! I called and put in an order last night 15 mins before they closed. Loved this place for almost ten years. A mere one of eight customers in there wore a mask today. Slovenly. When asked why, staff replied "it's hard to enforce." Ok. Tell that to the elderly, nurses, doctors and caregivers relying on you keeping your place clean. Did you let them know you're not enforcing state policy you're supposed to adhere to? This is definitely a go to sandwich shop in Wheaton IL. I enjoy the convenient location. I ordered a 6 inch poor boy sub and was a bit let down when I saw an overload of lettuce with only about 6 slices of meat. Tasted great but I wish I got a little more bang for my buck. read more

So glad I discovered this place! My kind of spot - variety, inexpensive and good tasting food. Myself and two others came on a Saturday night right before closing - 8:30ish. Service was friendly and fast. The restaurant is small but offers a a few tables, counter and stool seating. The dining area is kept very clean with a steady stream of customers. We dined in and saw what appeared to be regulars getting take out orders. Everyone seemed to know each other. My ribeye steak dinner was delicious! Well seasoned, tender and a nice portion. The pita was hot and soft. My son's meatball sandwich was tasty but on the small side. I think it could of stood at least two more meatballs. The bread to meatball ratio was a little off. French fries were hot and salty, just the way I like them. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the horchata was, very cinnamonany. If that's a word. If you are looking for inexpensive food options, this is awesome. Most meals are under $8 with tax and include fries and a pop. For example, the #1 I always get is $5.98 with tax and includes a large drink, large fries, and (2) hot dogs with all the trimmings! Poor mans dream! The place is always clean, the waitress / cashier girls are very helpful and there is this really cute short / small girl that is always there.
