Been eyeing this place for a while. All in all, it was pretty good! Food was tasty, well packaged. Only couple things they could have done better: fries were not crispy (even though I ordered them that way) and the burger patties were not well seasoned and a bit over done. I ordered two Italian beef sandwiches as part of the Beef Bundle and specifically asked for both sandwiches to be dipped. Unfortunately, both sandwiches were very dry and did not appear to have been dipped as requested. I asked my server, Alexis H., for a small cup of Italian beef juice so I could add it to my sandwich since it was so dry. She informed me that I would have to purchase the juice for an additional 25 cents. I explained that I did not feel I should have to pay extra because the sandwich was not prepared the way I requested. She insisted that the sandwich had been dipped and that I would still have to pay for the juice. I then spoke with the manager and showed her the sandwich so she could see how dry it was. Rather than acknowledging my concern or offering to correct the problem, she also told me that Alexis had already dipped the sandwich and that I would have to pay the additional 25 cents for the juice. Ultimately, I paid the 27 cents after tax, but the cost was not the issue. What disappointed me was the way the situation was handled. Neither the server nor the manager apologized, acknowledged that I was dissatisfied with my meal, or made any attempt to correct the problem. I was not asking for anything unreasonable or trying to get something extra for free. In fact, I could have asked for both sandwiches to be remade, but instead I simply asked for a small amount of beef juice so I could enjoy the meal I had already purchased. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I understand that mistakes happen. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. Charging a regular customer 25 cents rather than making a simple effort to resolve a legitimate concern was extremely disappointing and demonstrated very poor customer service. I have been a loyal customer and visited this location regularly, but this experience has made me seriously reconsider returning. I hope management reviews this situation and uses it as an opportunity to improve how customer concerns are handled in the future. read more

Out of the last five visits to the Oswego Beef Shack, the service was unsatisfactory for three of them. My husband and I are retired and watch our money carefully. On one visit, my husband ordered 3 Chicago-style hotdogs with everything, brought them home, and found that none of the hotdogs had any toppings. On another visit, he ordered three hotdogs on a Tuesday, $1 hotdog day. The cashier said she could sell him only two. My husband begged that his wife was in the car, and that's why he needed three. The cashier CRANED HER NECK TO PEER INTO THE PARKING LOT so that she could confirm he was telling the truth. (She ultimately did sell him the 3rd hotdog.) Then today, cashier named Danielle D, sold us two hotdogs for the price of three. That's right; my husband should've checked the bag to make sure there were indeed three hotdogs in it, so I guess it's his fault for trusting Beef Shack to get the order right. We live in Montgomery, so we're not about to get back in our car to drive over and fight with these people. The food is fine--if you can get it!! Quick Review: It's a Chicago Sandwich joint. Their featured "Cheezy Beef" is great, BETTER than Portillo's. Their Italian Sausage, too is better than Portillos, but not as good as Buona. The HotDog is meh-skip it. They have the fresh-cut Fries and if you like this style, get 'em! (they'll need salt and plenty of it). They offer a huge hunk of "Cheezy Garlic Bread" and it is fab. Might be the best thing on the menu. One cool thing about this place is they offer "Mini" versions of some of their Sarnies. Good if you want to try a few things, or if you're just not that hungry. read more

My family decided to check this location on a whim. We were on our way to Jewel and went in for dinner The parking lot is on the smaller side but you shouldn't have too much issue finding a spot. A few dedicated spots for their drive thru and some for the IVF joint. I wonder if the IVF closes early too which will help with parking Inside does have a good amount of chairs and tables. The menu is nicely laid out for you with a soda fountain which has some unique flavor like a berry crème soda (or something similar to that) I ordered the full Cheezy Beef on Garlic. Full and mini sizes were confusing. I think it should be large and regular since full did fill me up. Fries and a side of cheese The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. But it was piping hot. I arrived at around 430 and all the tables were taken The beef had good flavor. But it was very dry for my tastes. Wonder if I can get it dipped like other places or not. I was very excited about the Italian beef ON GARLIC BREAD and BOY DID IT NOT DISAPPOINT. The bread was had the perfect amount of toast on it and the garlic butter just elevated that beef. The giardinera was really good and the fries are the best fresh cut fries I've had. Crispy and not soggy. We went in on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly busy but didn't take too long. I'm already craving another beef from Beef Shack! read more

I actually came here on the recommendation of a hairstylist next-door. I wasn't planning on eating lunch here, but she mentioned it was brand new and apparently it was all the rave. The recommended item was the beef sandwich on garlic bread, so naturally that's the direction I went. I'll say that it was certainly tasty, but really nothing beyond what I would have expected. The entire sandwich was pretty sticky and falling apart, but I suppose that's to be expected. Hand cut fries were good, and extra salty, which I'm cool with. All in all I'd say it's a pretty solid place to stop and grab a bite but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

I'm picky about my Italian beef, so when you open a new beef joint just a few miles from where I work, I'm going to take my review very seriously. I've been waiting for this place to open for a while now, but I also wanted to give them a little time to work out the kinks before I popped in. Today I stopped in and ordered my beef/hot dog stand usual. Beef with sweet peppers dipped, hot dog with everything, and fries. The beef is a solid 4 star beef. I believe there are there distinct schools of Italian beefology. 1. Beef forward - usually thicker slices of beef to make the meat the star. Usually light on spice/seasoning. The original Mr. Beef falls into this category. 2. Spice forward. Usually thinner beef, sometimes almost shredded, but heavier on the seasoning to add flavor. I'd put Johnnie's, Portillo's, and Buona all in this category. 3. Al's #1. Some people like Al's, but I don't care for the weird - reddish gravy and the shredded shredded shredded texture of the meat. Beef Shack seems to fall in between types 1 & 2. Very tasty, tender beef. Lots of it in my sandwich. It's a little light on the seasoning for me, not as much flavor as most of the sandwiches I'd put in category 2, but very good. Sometimes a place tries to get cute with an Italian beef and change the formula a bit - garlic, marinara, cheese... not what I want on a classic beef sandwich, but I appreciate a change every now and again. Beef Shack's personal spin on the classic comes with the bread. Instead of an old school Turano or Gonella bread, it's a softer roll - which held up to being dipped really well, and there seems to be a garlic spread on the inside of the bread that added a unique lusciousness. I don't think it would win a Beef Off with some of the big boys because of the diversion from the norm with this bread - but I enjoyed it, and I'd definitely rank it very high in some sort of "other" Italian beef hierarchy. Fries were very good. Hand cut, crispy, a bit undersalted - but next time I'll know that and add some myself. The only real flaw was the hot dog. Perfectly steamed poppy seed bun. Nearly perfect toppings. The dog itself was meh - lacking the snap. I don't know if this one was overdone or sat for too long, but I was missing that crisp snap when I bit into it. Without that, it's just not my kind of hot dog. Service was fantastic. Line moved quickly. Place was impeccably clean. I will be back. read more

Food was great. Make sure to order the fries well done (crispy) or they're kinda soggy. Crispy was perfect. Got the cheesy beef and was thoroughly impressed. Great flavor au jus and very thinly sliced. Hot dogs were on point too. It took a little bit to get the food but that's because they make it to order. 10 mins wasn't so bad a wait at 7:30 pm with no line for great food. Will definitely be coming back. Service was incredibly unorganized, which after I waited for my order which took a total of 15 min to get .I was given an extra order of fry's no charge. The French fry's were under cooked and full of grease . Had to put them in the air fryer to crisp them up Sick . I have been to the one in St Charles which is outstanding, if they own this one they better get down there and fix that mess .Beef was good along with Chicago dog . We've been here twice, but haven't tried too many items on the menu. The beef sandwiches are very good. We like the beef on garlic. A personal preference of mine would be for the fries to not be cooked as well done. Be patient in the drive thru as this is not your typical fast food place. Way too busy. Did The online order. Showed up 25 minutes later and waited 30 minutes in the store. Worker put our bag in the fry line and multiple people came in and ordered, but we literally waited 15 more minutes for hot frys only to get home and my beef and hot dog were room temp. They had 12 workers and for whatever reason they were just overwhelmed. It reminded me of Dick Portillos restaurant with a different sauce / different fry style. This is my new go-to place for Italian beef and fries. I order the cheesy beef on garlic bread with an extra slice of cheese and light hot peppers, juicy. The ingredients are fresh and high quality and oh so tasty. I've started ordering a second sandwich to eat at home. We were excited to finally try beef shack, when we received our cheezy beef, half the meat was missing, we had more cheese, and bread than beef. The fries was extremely huge, and both tastes great. They need to stop being stingy with the beef, because they are over priced, the meat should atleast fill up to the end of the bread. I will not be returning, no time soon. i visited here today and i have been here plenty of times and it's sad to say that every time i come here, something on the receipt is missing. every single time without a doubt. the food is always good which is why i come back but they really need to get their service together because it's very off putting and makes me want to take the hike further up the road to portillo's instead because it's the same price and at least when i order portillos they can remember my peppers and my cheese sauce even though they have 20 more people working in their kitchen. the employees are rude and clearly don't care at all about their jobs. there will be nobody in the drive through or the restaurant and the wait is still 20-30 minutes. it's ridiculous. read more

Let's start out with the cashier didn't even know what au jus was. Look nowadays with prices everyone is paying attention to quality. Beef shack has quality food but their presentation is deceptive. Their fries are full of small overcooked pieces. BEWARE the beef, my full beef was not portioned correctly, slim on the beef and packed with cheese. Plus, be on the lookout as beef shack does not cut their bread fully, they leave a half inch uncut and fill the middle of the bread only. Your 8 inch beef is only 7 inches of beef. It's more of the same inflation scams. Just stop spending money on fast food, they are finding ways to stay in business at your expense. It's defeating. Their burger was terrible at 10 bucks, I ate in and was served a burger that had the most soggy wet bottom bun I've ever been served. What a mess that thing was. Their vanilla shake is well worth the dollar for being flavorless and terrible. read more
