Buffalo wings are a sports bar classic. If you want these a great place to go is to this one in Oswego. Anchor Bar is based off the original one that has this hot appetizer. Of course it's not really an appetizer if someone has a whole bunch of these watching a game. There's also a meatless version for those looking for plant based hotness. A big place along with a chaotic feeling. It's got options if not wanting to stay. There's a separate entrance for takeout. Of course many come here to watch games. There's tons of TVs on the walls. Also beers. It's $9 for the Anchor Bar Lager. This comes in a big ass glass though. A lot of levels of spiciness for the wings allowing for all preferences. It's about $15 to get the Meatless Wings. Kind of small but there's a good amount. Then choose how hot to get these. Famous brand that has a few locations across the country. It's got plenty of extreme spiciness. They even have versions okay for vegetarians. read more

Bone-in wings are not my meal of choice but I was excited to see they had Beef on Weck having lived in Buffalo. The sandwich was good but a little dry since was expecting version where the meat is dipped in au jus before put on bun similar to the version that had fairly regularly from Swiston's Beef & Keg. The fries were very good and the service was excellent but will not likely return. read more

Same back again and asked for Nicole to be our server 11 out of 10 service! Beef on Weck was on point, pizza log app was very good. Also my wife's chicken wrap was greatly enjoyed. Nice rotation on the craft beers. If you're in the area or local great place to grab food and catch a game. Plenty of TV's read more

My boyfriend and I had wanted to come here for a while because we love wings and the original Anchor Bar is the home of the original buffalo wing! Well, they have buffalo wings but so many more flavors: we had to try a bunch! We got the original (medium buffalo sauce), garlic Parmesan, loganberry chipotle, and hot bacon pepper jam. Overall, they were all amazing! My least favorite was the garlic Parmesan just because it was a little more garlic than I would like (overwhelmed the Parm) but my boyfriend liked them. The original were good but tasted... just like a buffalo wing, which I guess is the point! My favorites were the loganberry chipotle and the hot bacon pepper jam, and if I had to choose I would pick the loganberry: nice blend of sweet and smoky. We also had pretzel bread sticks with queso as an appetizer which were yummy. Our waiter was busy but kept a good eye on us and answered our various questions. The place is on the noisier side, which isn't my favorite restaurant vibe, but it was worth it in this case! Will be back! read more

I'll be quick... Wings sucked... High hopes going in though.... 2 stars as the server was great.

We LOVE Anchor Bar. The boneless wings are juicy and the sauces are refreshing. Pro tip: go for lunch during the week. Wings, fries and a soda for $12. Can't be beat! read more

We went here for the first time today as part of our "6 dates for 6 years" tour. We brought the munchkins with because our oldest has been wanting to try it. We went on a Sunday at noon and it was near empty. No complaints about that. It was very fast to get a seat. They sat us at one of those round booths with the squishy seats. The kids loved it. They had a kids placemat snd crayons. Theres a kids menu as well. Kids got spaghetti and mac and cheese and liked it so much the oldest said they want to eat there for every meal forever. Hubs and I had a hard time choosing as there were so many good sounding options! In the end we both got the buffalo chicken wrap - Mine mild, his with the medium. I very much enjoyed it. I wanted the buffalo flavor without the heat (nailed it) and he loved the medium but said it didnt seem to have as much heat as hed expected so if you're a mild gal like me you could handle the medium here! I got tater tots (crunchy, well seasoned, took what was left to go!), he got fries (hubs and kid approved). My only complaint was that the floor was very sticky, which, I get it's also a bar but it was near opening time so I didn't expect the floors to feel that way had they been washed at close. Our waitress was kind, fun, and friendly! Great service! Bonus: All the specials for the week sounded appealing but- Since kids eat for free Tuesdays ($7 margaritas too!) we will be back... obviously 9/10 highly recommended! read more

Meh. I've been in search of a place that serves that upstate NY specialty, "Beef on a Weck" and lo and behold, the inventor of chicken wings, the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY has started expanded, and there's one in the distant suburbs of Chicago. An hour's drive for me, but we went, and ordered the beef sandwich, really nothing like the NY ones other than the bun. In NY, it's freshly cut rare roast beef. This one was more like Arby's. Tasty enough, and comes with a side and a complimentary wing, but not worth the money or the drive. Great service. Good bloody mary cocktail. read more

When we stopped here, we had no idea this was connected to the one out east. The Bloody Mary was good and it came with a complimentary wing. They have a cocktail menu so I had the Appletini. It was good. We split the 5 piece pizza rolls. Unique and good. The sauce and cheese really stood out for me. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. read more

Our first time..... first impressions super clean and promptly greeted and seated. Our server Brittanie was fantastic! Soon after we were seated, she gave us menus, told us about beers on tap, took our drink order.... quick as a flash two cold beers. We started with 10 wings w/the Bourbon BBQ sauce....They arrived piping hot and huge! They were excellent! We spilt the BBQ bacon burger.... it arrived medium as ordered and the fries were crispy too! Even with splitting a burger and wings, we still had food to take home. They have a rewards club that on your birthday gives you a $15.00 credit on a meal and $10.00 in Rewards for every $100.00 spent. read more

Talk about a Buffalo NY find in the burbs! Greeted immediately by a friendly smiling host. The building is a that "home" feel of the original in downtown Buffalo. We had the Buffalo Wings which were on point. Then we went to the Beef On Weck, beef is good. The bun didn't quite hold up to the way they do in Buffalo & North Tonawanda NY area. Was nice to have Labatt on tap. We sat in the bar area itself great views of the Buffalo Bills game, plenty of Bills Mafia there!! Our server/bar tender was super sweet. Overall, it's nice to have a place not too far (555 miles , a 9 hour drive give or take) away to feel at "home" great vibes all the way around. Definitely will be back. read more

First visit to this location. (Been to the original in BUF many times). The service at this location is terrible. Host was short & rude. Server was overworked, short, & in-personable. Food was pretty good, but based on the service received today, I couldn't recommend dining here. read more

Staff is wonderful, owners are GREAT, and food is amazing!!!!! What more could you want! 10/10 love this place

We came in with a group of 8 on a Friday night! It was busy but we were able to be seated right away which was nice. Very casual bar ambiance. The restaurant is brand new so I think they are still finding their footing. Everything felt new and clean. They had some slot machines in the corner as well! TONS of televisions and plenty of seating. Service was very friendly! We tried the cheese curds and pizza logs for appetizers. The cheese curds were decent, pizza logs were unique. They were pretty much egg rolls with pizza cheese and pepperoni inside. It was your average bar food. The fries were underwhelming. Loved the tots though!! The burger and chicken tenders were just okay. The others at our table that ordered wings liked them a lot too! Overall, I think given time this restaurant will be pretty good and move up to a four star status. For now probably just three! Very much what you expect for sports bar food. read more

A buddy and I came here a couple years ago. Cold beer, and great food. The people were great, fast service and they were fun to hang out with. He's since passed on, 87 years on this planet was too long for him. I came back a last week and relived it all thanks to Anchor Bar. read more

The Wings our boys loved them sauces were on point! Service excellent! Waiter was great! He was busy! Didn't nag! The place was busy, yet everyone in the kitchen who ran food out and even manager came over to ask us if we liked it very friendly seems like they liked us! We will be back! read more

Gave this place a few chances. Even after firing the last manager it hasn't improved much. Something always comes out cold food wise, wings are tiny and not great. Happy hour deals are a joke.. don't waste your time read more

The chicken wings ARE SO GOOD. They are in my top 2 favorite wing places and that's an achievement. The fries are good and I like the pretzels as an appetizer. The pizza is better than most pizza places too. It has pretty good service and the waiters are good at their job. There are a lot of TVs and its always a good experience. read more

A friend of mine told me this is the original Buffalo chicken wings so had to try! We went with four types: medium (what they're known for) , dry rub lemon pepper, spicy bbq, and spicy garlic Parmesan. So we really liked the lemon pepper and spicy bbq. Not so much with the other two. All were good but nothing to drive all the way to Oswego when we have Buffalo Wild Wings. The place is a little loud with music and all the TV's-at least they're muted. read more

Anchor Bar - Oswego - Traditional Wings - Chicken Wings Near Me - Oswego, Illinois

Great food, great service, and an outstanding place to watch the Buffalo Bills! Looking forward to going back real soon!

Let me start by saying, I lived in Buffalo for a year and the Anchor bar is by far the best wings ever. So, I was excited to see there was one here. I wish they weren't. The owner, by the lack of responses to any social media comments I've looked at before leaving this review, clearly doesn't care. This is the most honest and hardest revue I have left. This place is sad. There's a great prideful location in Buffalo, and then this place that doesn't care about anything except buying the name. Just go there, you'll see. We went on a weekend, we had 20 wings and a beer each. With tax and tip it was over 70 dollars. That's ok, this is the anchor bar, just wait until you get your food, it's going to be great. Nope, the wings came with hardly any sauce. I'm being nice, they were basically plain. I found out on my next visit, this is common when busy. I was told, the cooks don't care when it's busy and they just send things out as fast as possible. Ok, that's fine, but not if you're charging almost two dollars a wing. We didn't complain, just asked for more sauce. It took at least ten minutes to get a little cup. The wings weren't even warm, so we just took them back to reheat and eat later. As you can see in the pictures, after we sauced them, still no sauce really. But everyone has a bad day. So, I went back for lunch. While there, the owner was walking around drinking something and the server said, I never call off. But two days ago I woke up and was puking everywhere. I called and said, I can't come in. Then yesterday, I got up, tried chicken broth, threw it up, then tried yogurt after sleeping, threw it right up. Then I had some apple sauce, that stayed in. But today, I'm feeling great. This wasn't something we asked about, nor cared to hear. Completely out of nowhere. So, the wings did have sauce on them, but who wants to eat while their server is talking about throwing up the day before in detail. I really wanted to like this place, they have my favorite wings in Buffalo. But the owner doesn't care. You can tell, no pride in the food, nor the service. Do not go. Please read more

We had eaten here a few times when it first opened. As my original review said it wasn't good. After a year away and hearing good things, we tried it again 10-4-'25. The hostess made sure to seat us where we could watch the game of our choice. Our waitress Madison was very busy but never let our drinks run dry. The fries and 4 flavors of wings we ordered were all fantastic as was our overall experience. I'm so happy to be able to update my past review and will now highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Anchor Bar is the classic, the original, THE place to get buffalo wings. If you like wings then you must try this spot. Granted, I think they are still working out some new-opening kinks but we had an enjoyable time. A small (6 people) group of us went for a late-dinner/snack one night and had our sights set on one thing: wings. Well, beer too. After meeting our waitress and placing our drink orders we quickly decided that we were going big: a Bucket (50 wings). Naturally we had a majority flavored with buffalo (medium) but, honestly, we all agreed that we'd go a step hotter next time. We also had the Honey Bourbon BBQ and come char-grilled. The BBQ was good but the char-grilled is the way to go! Everyone agreed they were the most tasty. Overall it was a pretty smooth operation. It didn't feel like it was firing on all cylinders but we did not experience near any of the service problems that other's wrote about in their reviews. All-in I'd say it was a pretty good experience. In fact, I can't wait to return again for more wings as they make them well here! read more

Great Wings, and Fettuccine was good. Pizza not so much as the crust was ok but the sauce was subpar.

A plate of food came out with a white face hair melted in the cheese. Ok... asked for another. The second came out this time with a black curly hair. The chef and I say that lightly gave is straigh to my 12 yr old daughter. This time we asked for the manager. The manager came out with a attitude right away. Then said no on in his kitchen has that hair. Umm you severed it straight to my 12 yr old daughter. She doesn't have that hair. He then mouths my 12 yr old saying we put the hair in it. And tells us to leave. What a jerk. Do your job. The manager shouldn't be working with people. I should get a lawyer by way speaking to a minor. read more

Wings are always solid. The pizza continues to disappoint. It was great when Anchor Bar first opened and was very similar to the pizza in Buffalo but now it's nowhere close. Having family in Buffalo, we were excited to see a Buffalo joint so close to us. We stopped in for wing and beef on weck. The wings were good, though toned toned down from typical wings you'd get in Buffalo. In buffalo medium wings are hot, here medium wings are on the milder side, still good flavor and the blue cheese is excellent. The beef on weck is ok at best. The beef was dry and it was not on a true weck roll. We ordered the chicken tenders for our kids and those were over cooked. read more
