I get it, to an extent, I also work in the service industry but theres a way to talk to people. Also, I found a charge for a "tall" drink on my bill and when I asked what it was for, I was told "oh we charge when people ask for a tall" and he walked away as if its nothing. Sure, the dollar isn't going to make me or break me but why in the world would the average person want a double drink in a short glass.... This is a place that tries to do many things and none of them too well, It does have a nice location dining room and bar area is nice, some outdoor seating available They don't do well beyond that, I was there on a Saturday evening Not really busy but service was slow the entire evening. Food was food good but not great for the price I was disappointed the craft beer selection. They did not have a nice variety that most other places that serve craft beer have. As a sports bar , there were lots of televisions But staff tended to keep changing channels during several of the games before they were over. The room was very loud, practically give you a headache loud. There was also kerakoe that night I dont have a problem with that but it added to making a less than enjoyable atmosphere in the place between sports on TV and the kerakoe. Anthem Ale House is of course a good place for a beer. For food not as much. It has typical jacked up prices like many of these slick brewpubs in shopping centers seem to. It wasn't busy, which should have told us something after thinking about it. The beer was the star attraction, and basically the only attraction worth paying the advertised price. Has quite a few beers from local breweries. Let's give them credit for that. I had a couple good ones. The best was the Lagunitas Hazy Wonder. It's $7 a pint. This is an IPA that's densely hazy and slightly bitter, and slightly strong. As for the food, fuck. The only decent thing was the Hummus. It's $9 for a bit. This comes with a few hard ass pitas. Final thoughts on the experience. It has lots of good local beers, so it's a good place for sampling a few. The food blows, and the prices are whack. read more

First of all our sever Marlon was very good. We were happy with the service but then everything else went wrong... We ordered wings. Should be good and easy right? But no the food came out very slow I mean very slow when there were probably 4-5 tables. My boyfriend ordered boneless wings. I ordered regular wings both came out dry! Sauces tasted disgusting. Carrots and celeries looked like a month old that my boyfriend wouldn't eat cause he said he didn't wanna get sick. I have never been anywhere and hated the wings as much as this place. We ordered 3 drinks. They were good. These two stars are only for Marlon our server because he helped making things right for us. Money was never a problem but we felt a bit disappointed since we were really excited to try the new place... We used to frequent Tokyo Bay the preceding restaurant at this location quite frequently before it reopened as Anthem. At first we were sad with the closing but Anthem is a worthy followup to its predecessor. We ordered an assortment of Specialty Rolls but the star of the evening where the Philly and Salmon Skin Handrolls. We are looking forward to returning and trying several of the "fan favorites " which looked and smelled delicious as well. Just opened a few weeks ago, so we thought we would give it a try. First looked online for menu but the catering menu was the only menu we could find online. (As a Gluten free diner I always like to loom at menu ahead of time.) this was a sushi restaurant before changing it's name. So the interior looks a lot like a sushi place. Still has the sushi counters & glass, and Asian themed decor items, but now has big screen TV's and wait staff ware Muscle tees & Tank tops instead of traditional sushi robes. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We got there and were seated right away, I asked if they had a Gluten free menu host said "no" and no follow up phrase or discussion. The menu itself is difficult to read as it in not well lit inside, menu is black with white- ish text on it. A variety of choices are available for food and beer / ale, however is is clearly evident they don't prepare and make the food. Food was probably frozen til prepared. Ale's are brand ales, no options for their own brew. Food was basic pub fare but not inexpensive. We were 3 adults quesadillas, philly cheese steak sandwich, and appetizer of grilled tenderloins.( as a dinner for gluten free person) and a kid (ordered mac& cheese from kids menu) bill was $68. No adult beverages just water and 1 Dr pepper. Pricey for "meh" food. The sandwich was more bread and melted cheese than philly steak, the salsa that came with the quesadillas was awful, not sure why either ? Seemed dried out and weird spices to it. The tenderloins were very salty and no other flavor than salt. The kid liked the mac and cheese said it was yummy, but what mac and cheese is not ? Our waiter was friendly, but not attentive for the amount of patrons there at the time. He didn't offer up any suggestions for Gluten free options and didn't seem to be very knowledgable about the menu. 2 meals came out first then 5 minutes later the kids meal and the other adult meal came to the table, we found this a bit odd. My first visit to Anthem Ale House. Kind of a modern/classy vibe, dark gray walls and beautiful wood flooring. Huge full bar and comfortable chairs. Lots of Flat screens to enjoy your favorite game and last night was karaoke. Lots of friendly customers and the staff was very attentive. There is a full glass wall that has a huge folding door that leads out to a beautiful cozy romantic Lanai/seating area with outdoor grills, more flat screens, and ceiling fans to help move that breeze if needed. Great menu choices! We ordered the ribs that were fall-off-the-bone delicious, potstickers and chicken fingers both with amazing dipping sauces! Definitely a return visit is in the works. read more

The staff needs help. I was there on a Sunday, and there just wasn't enough help. I believe they only had the bartender and another server working, and that is unacceptable. TL;DR: So completely disappointing. Longer version: Living in the Aurora/Naperville area, you tend to believe that there are not going to be sub-standard restaurants around, because you just need to be really good to survive. Unfortunately, this is one of those places that you can predict will be gone in a few months if they don't correct their current trajectory. Saturday night at 7:00 and half of the tables were empty--that should have been a red flag. Considering the location, it should have been packed. We should have reconsidered at that moment. Mediocre food (yes, it's generic Sysco fare), greasy, slow service, inattentive server, bad music and quite overpriced. I wouldn't call this an "ale house" at all, either. It's a restaurant that has a bar. We were pretty shocked to have such a low opinion of this place. Even the kids were disappointed. Nothing original or new on that menu, mostly overpriced (probably frozen then deep fried or nuked) yuck with high margins. High margins don't mean a thing if people don't order the food. On the Positive, the sound for the Monday night football game was excellent! Top notch sound system! A lot of places have crappy sound and they just crank the volume up to compensate. The prices for everything are ridiculous for what you get. $9 for chips and salsa that I'm pretty sure they got from the movie theatre across the street (barely any chips to an order and the salsa was pico, not salsa). My daughter's burger was $14 and looked like it had been microwaved, as it was rubbery and cold.
