Checked out this unassuming bar. Danny's Pub is one of the few actual casual bars in Naperville. It has old time favorites as well as the more trendy kind of stuff. A dank looking place that is pretty chill. They have crazier weekends that include live music. Basic looking from the outside and isn't anything impressive. It's one of those bars in a strip plaza. The plaza itself isn't anything special looking either so it fits there. Has a few deals going on. It's $5 vodkas on Thursdays. Cool. Food includes the expected fried stuff. There's a few healthier options. It's about $15 for a burger and fries. The Veggie Burger is made with a black bean patty. For sure it's better than expected. It's located on Route 59 in Pebblewood Plaza. They're open later on the weekends for live music and fun times. read more

My son and I were looking for a place to eat and we were deciding on either Wendy's or Jimmy John's. In between the two, we saw Danny's pub and Grill and figured why not. We were greeted by a nice gentleman who took her order. His wife was Danny who made Spell fantastic sandwiches, and the most delicious potato fries, sweet potatoes it was reasonably priced and definitely a hole in the wall the character. First time here and it will be my LAST. I don't mind dive bars if food /service/ prices are good. Only one server for the entire place..so when band started and more people arrived, service was poor... but not the fault of the ONE server who hussled all night. There's absolutely nothing you can do to improve. Or actually, GET A NEW OWNER! One that's less of a fat shamer and an asshole. I frequented this bar for the last month as I recently moved right by it. At first, super nice, good food, and decent company. I actually enjoyed the owners as I thought they were kind individuals who were super welcoming. Well that all changed when I found out they hosted my name in their system as "Big Girl Sam". I'm appalled, insulted, and entirely turned off by such blatant assholes. I don't need a low life Harley owner to tell me that I'm overweight. Thanks but no thanks. Seriously bad location: hidden and only accessible from northbound Route 59. Good burger, though. If u have $15, u can get a tasty burger and a beer. I added grilled onions and 'shrooms, and cleaned my plate. The place is really a local's bar: sports' tvs, a long bar, one pool table, electronic darts, and a meager menu. The 5-stars is because a) the food was tasty and b) Holly, the waitress/bartender is a superstar sweetie with old school charm. I would definitely come here again if I wanted simple food. read more

Awful experience! Waited an hour just to have my food order taken. Had to wait at the bar to get my own drink. One lovely waitress who is new, I might add, hustling her ass off while the owner sits here in the restaurant doing NOTHING for the customers. If you are hungry or looking for a great place it's not here! I really dislike being THAT customer who doesn't understand an off day. But the owner was being pointed out by other patrons to me. I never saw him get up to help the waitresses who were way overloaded. From what I understand his wife was in the kitchen helping. A great looking sports bar and table grill. I like the rural bar look and surprisingly this large chicago suburb still has alot of bars such as this . I like the various kitchen bars and tjis place has one pool table various small diner restaurants seating . Due to the global bastard they set up tables and chairs in the parking lot and it's nice. They now have seating indoors but I only went outside. The breakaway burger was great. A group of eight of us were able to eat somewhat together (Naperville only allows tables of six so we had separate tables and talked loud. The waitress was really awesome. As I've gotten older, I've grown to appreciate dive bars. Sure, the "trendy" spots are fun when you're newly 21 and dressed to impress people you don't even know. But those days are long gone, and now the thought of going somewhere for a drink in jeans, a sweater, and no makeup on New Years Day is pretty exciting. Before our annual NYD dinner, the bf suggested we stop here for a Bloody Mary, which sounded fabulous. We made our way through the unplowed streets and inside the bar. Once inside, we felt silly sitting at a booth since food was not on our agenda, so we took the last two open seats at the bar, opposite of the three youngsters (compared to us) slamming shots. The bartender came over to us immediately to take our older. The bf told her we'd like some Bloody Mary's. She asked if we wanted regular or spicy; of course we picked spicy and she proceeded to make the drinks right in front of us. These Bloody's were garnished with three green olives, a large pickle spear, and of course a stick of celery. The Bloody was delicious, and the bartender certainly did a great job of making it spicy. I finished mine long before the bf was halfway through his. We probably would have stuck around for another, except for the fact that obnoxious rap music was playing (thanks to the young kids who kept feeding their money into the music player), which ruined the atmosphere. This wasn't your usual hip-hop/rap you hear on the radio and know some of the lyrics to, but gangsta rap, which leaves you wanting to kick a dog in the ass for no reason. Feeling agitated from the music, I couldn't wait to get out of there. We paid our tab and left to go grab dinner. We'll probably go back, as this is the only bar within walking distance (something to consider for warmer months). I've heard their food is pretty decent, so I'll probably give something a try next time. I just hope there's a nicer mix of music being played. read more

Since I'm not cruel I gave it 2 stars, because we never found out how the food was. We were at NN High School for a competition our kids were involved in and during a break a group of parents decided to get a couple of drinks and some grub. A parent in the group googled best burgers in Naperville and this place came up. Navigated there and at firsts because it was in a strip mall we could not find it, so we called only to find that their sign wasn't on. Oops! We were ten people mostly some drinks, so here is where it goes bad. Our kids were scheduled to perform at 10pm and we explained that to the server, we walked it at 8:15. She was using a tablet to take orders, and there was a band setting up with a few people in there. Our order was 4 sandwiches which came with tater tots and one xtra order of tater tots. A burger and a patty melt, a Ruben's and pulled chicken sandwich. Got our drinks and waited... and waited... and waited. 9pm asked server food coming out soon ? ... waited, 9:15 please bring a check now so we can figure Check between us to save time, so we could eat. 9:25, ok I can wolf it down and get back to the show before they close the doors. 9:30 just bring it out even piece meal but bring boxes because it really getting tight on the time. 9:40 basically paid for drinks and left. No reason to ever go back. And Yelp needs to review that last three 5 stars they have received the last month, one even claim to be a 20 year friend. read more

I've been on a quest to find the best fish fry around. I really like the idea here that you can have a single serving order or the AYCE. I find myself never eating more than they give on a single serving, so to save a couple bucks never hurts. I also really enjoyed the "chips" instead of fries. They're roughly sliced potato chips that are chunky and unique. You can get fries too if you prefer. They have cod in filet form. I prefer the log style, as the filet got lost in the batter and was almost too thin in spots and had no texture. The batter has a great flavor and is super puffy and crispy. Nice homemade flavor in the tarter and the coleslaw is off the hook. As Katie my wonderful waitress said... she can eat bowls of it. I concur and they give you a fair serving, but a monkey dish size is always a good thing, when it tastes this good. I've been in over the years for their great lunch specials and a few years back even made it in for Tina's Karaoke Night. I don't drink, so the real lure of this spot doesn't shine. Never made it in for the live music either, so I have no real input there. As stated , my server Katie could not have been sweeter. Not sure how this place qualifies as a "dive bar"; It's way too nice, nobody sleeping at the bar, nobody selling crack out of the bathroom (that I know of), no mystery stains on whatever's left of the carpet etc. Somehow people think if it's a non-corporate business with food they make from scratch (they do) and affordable booze (they have that too) it's a dive bar? Noooooo..... But they have great cooked-to-temp burgers, Friday fish fry and a lot of other reasons to visit - even if it you think it's a dive bar. read more

We so wanted this to be a good experience - this is so close to home for us- but we had nachos with beef and it was literally awful. The smell of the burned beef and the stale chips - still washing it off my hands. I know you can do better! Dive bars are some of the best kinds of bars. Well, at least my 28 year old self thinks so. I've definitely come to appreciate a good dive bar, so I was happy to have stumbled across Danny's Pub last weekend with my husband and parents. We spent the afternoon hopping around a couple places for drinks and as the day turned into night, we were looking for someplace chill to go hangout. Our go-to dive is typically The Lantern downtown Naperville, but that place is actually pretty packed on a Saturday night. Plus, I'm always in the mood to try somewhere new. Luckily, my Yelp app led me to Danny's! The decor of this place is everything you can imagine a local pub to be. Nothing fancy, mix of tables, long bar, pool table... pretty standard. Our waitress was super nice and let us know of the domestic bucket special which was too cheap to pass up. We mixed and matched the 5 beers with Budweiser and Michelob Ultra and ended up sticking around for probably 3 buckets. My husband ended up ordering some wings which he seemed to enjoy. We had a fun time hanging out and drinking at Danny's (without breaking the bank!). On a Saturday night it was lively, but not overly busy which was nice because we could actually sit down and hear each other talk! I will definitely be putting this pub in my bar repertoire moving forward. read more

They have changed owners since my original review, and I now have to recommend them for something very very good: Their homemade (not pre-packed) bar food, including burgers (cooked to order - unlike the well-done-only Five Guys lame-o chain), Friday Fish Fry and homemade soup. First, anyone who knows me (or reads my reviews) can easily tell that I love exploring non-corporate, non-chain franchises and out-of-the-way places. While I am definitely a foodie, I am not a "snobbie." And therein lies my issue with the girl tending bar I encountered during the day last week. I saw a sign saying "Burger Heaven" out front, so I wandered in, sat at the bar and got some info from the bartender about their burger deal. After I told her I was a foodie, she says "Oh no - you're a snob! You're going to find a flaw with whatever we serve you." After I tell her I'm not a snob, she says "Oh, I think you are." And then: "You can leave for all I care." Which I immediately did. I'm guessing the bartender is not the owner - I wonder what they would think about her speaking to/pissing off new customers like that? Well Danny's, here's your dubious honor: I have never encountered anything like this in all my travels (here or abroad), and I'm sharing this story about your place and your ridiculous bartender in the "you won't believe this one" category. read more

This place is alright by me. We came on a Friday night for karaoke and their bucket special. I'm not a big fan of Bud Light, but at $9 per bucket I wasn't feeling to frowny about it. It says they are a grill, but they didn't have food at the time we were there; however, the girl working the bar said we could go grab food anywhere nearby and bring it back. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you're looking for a dark spot to throw back some beers and hang out with the regulars, this spot is the place for you. Not glamorous or fancy, just a gold old fashioned dive bar. Kinda dingy, a little dank. This place isn't the ritz but it does make for a fun night of tipsy people watching. My friend and I came here for Cinco de Mayo. They had live music, cheap beer and tequila, and exceptional prices. We even wandered into the Latin dancing place a few doors down and had a great time. I am a fan of Danny's... The best part is its one of those places where you go if you know everyone. Its like living in the show cheers. I ended up going because someone from work frequents the bar. It might have been strange however if i didnt know a regular. I loved the fact that there were signs that said "NO CURSING" on the wall. Made me think twice until i realized that was a joke to all of the people who had never been in... like me. There is always a drink special so I dont have to worry about breaking the bank on feeling good. A bonus perk... Free pool on the one table during the weekends. I live really close to this place, so its nice to have a bar within walking distance. I also love that this bar is low-key and casual. It's never filled with clubby a-holes, frat boys, or hipsters. I never seem to know when they have food. When they do...their burgers are DELISH. It says they were voted one of the best burger joints in Chicagoland or Naperville or something...I wouldn't doubt it. And they have like 15 different kinds of burgers to boot! But as I was saying...sometimes they aren't serving food. My husband and I went there on a Thursday night, grabbed a couple menus, and sat down at a table. The bartender yelled at us from the bar (which was across the room) "Hey! Our kitchen is closed tonight! If you want food, you can order pizza from a few doors down!" What a bummer! So we got up and left. You can see all kinds of people here for food. I haven't ever seen a family with young children, but I do see senior citizens in here all the time for dinner. I really like this bar. The drinks are cheap, for any standards (not just Naperville standards), and I love going for a draft Guinness at any time of the year. They have live music and karaoke quite a bit too. There's always something fun going on here, and the people/bartenders are friendly. The bartenders remember you, too! St. Patrick's, why not a local pub called Danny's? Because who wants to sit in a dark, dingy bar for over an hour waiting for what was possibly the worst food ever served to us. I got the special, corned beef and cabbage, hubby ordered the Reuben (touted as "the best in the burbs"). After about 45 minutes of waiting (and not seeing our waitress, except at the table of a huge group of people) we see two women walk in, go to the bar, and walk out with 12 take-out containers, we thought about leaving. Looming time for movie tickets we had bought online prevented that move. About 15 minutes later, food comes out, but waitress was going to take it away thinking we ordered 2 specials. So the special was 4, half fat, pieces of of Luke warm corned beef. 2 of the smallest pieces of carrot I had ever seen - hard and cold in spite of the size. 1/2 of the smallest wedge of cabbage ever - also cold and hard. And 5 small cubes of potato. My husband's Rueben - there might have been 1/8 inch of meat. Sauerkraut, cheese and thousand island were almost nonexistent. "Best Ruebens in the burbs" - not even close. I think we will go to Arby's next time. Just an added comment, we got the take-outs 2 years ago. They were great with plentiful quantity of food. So now I wish I would have read the "new owner" comments before we went there for our last time. read more

Well, we had high hopes for this place. Picked it based on food reviews and band playing classic rock. The waitress was very friendly and attentive until it started to get crowded for the band. She was the only waitress for the entire place! Now the place is not large by any means but definitely needed more than one server. Felt bad for her. We ordered the chicken wings to start which were recommended on reviews.... they were not cooked and the breading, although crispy lacked flavor. Our server was very apologetic and brought out a new plate. We then waited an hour ( because there was only one server) before we were able to get our dinner order placed. Our table ordered the Reuben, it was ok, the Cobb salad, again under whelming and the chicken strips and fries, pretty good. Thankfully we were with great friends and the music was good.
