I can't believe this is my first time at Hizemans! I stopped in late night to watch a NBA game and have some dinner. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how vast the menu is. It made choosing what to eat pretty difficult. I ended up going with the shrimp tacos and they were perfection! I don't know what I enjoyed more, the sauce on the shrimp or the slaw on top. My husband had a burger and he said it was quite delicious as well. We also ordered a couple of cocktails. I can't remember what they were called, but they were pretty tasty. The bartender was really nice and helped me choose my cocktail. She also made some modifications to fit my taste. I have to say this has to be one of the cutest sports bars I've been to. Pretty cool spot, they are the same group that owns Empire which is also in DT Naperville. Very lively spot to catch sport games, fun atmosphere with large TVs and well lit. We went there on a Sat to catch the football game and it was busy but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Food was alright and they had a good beer and drink selection. We ordered the shrimp tacos, great size, but the sauce on it was a bit too heavy and spicy for me (some people may like that though). We also had the shishito philly - it was ok, but didn't have a ton of flavor. My husband had to ask for some sauce for it, if you feel the same - get the Hizeman sauce they make inhouse, it was pretty good with that added to it. There is a bar on wide side of the restaurant with TVs along the wall so you won't have to worry about not being able to watch the game. We decided to go for drinks Friday night here. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to sit our party of 8 right away around 8:30 pm. By 9, they started to remove the center tables and seats at the bar to open the dance floor up, and the dj came. Luckily, since our table was to the back, we did have a seat the whole time. My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday at around 6:30pm. We had originally come just for dinner, but stayed for some dancing (because apparently it turns into a mini club after 9. Who knew?!).. We were seated right away to eat. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. We didn't feel rushed at all. For appetizers we ordered the pork fries and the mac n cheese donuts. The pork fries were amazing! The pork was salty and sweet, cooked tender and just melted in your mouth. The fancy sauce was creamy. I tried the mac n cheese donuts even though I typically wouldn't eat anything like this. I am not a huge fan of hot cheetos, but this was actually pretty good. There was a nice kick without putting my mouth on fire. The ranch really elevated the flavor as well. For my entree, I got the california chopper which is a grilled chicken salad with bacon, avocado, egg, and tomato topped with a creamy avocado dressing. I did not get this to be "healthy", but really wanted something fresh. The grilled chicken was charred and super flavorful. Everything was very fresh and delicious. I was very happy with my choice. For my drink, I got the la palma, a special. I was a bit disappointed. Mine was filled only halfway up the glass even though everyone else's drinks were filled to the top. It tasted ok, but wasn't too bad. I ended up getting hard seltzers the rest of the night. If we had ended the night here, it would have been an easy 5 stars for me. However, we ended up staying for the "club" portion which made me give them a 4. We saw staff moving tables and wondered what was happening. Apparently they turn into a "club" after 8 or 9 pm. This saturday they had a DJ. We decided to stay a bit after we paid for our food to check it out. First, they move all the tables in the middle of the restaurant to the back and just kind of stack them. Then, they move all the chairs at the bar so the only places to sit are the booths. The bar is just standing. I didn't see them asking anyone to move, so they let you take your time to finish before moving the tables and bar stools. It was weird how they just stacked everything though. This took up valuable standing room which may have allowed for more dancing. Also, which didn't make any sense to me, was they used the largest portion of the space to stack these chairs and tables. This would have been a much better place for the dance floor. Instead, the dance floor was closer to the front and a bit small. This meant everyone was packed like sardines and bumping into each other. They had to constantly move people away from the DJ since no one was honoring the barrier. Its hard to blame them though since the tables and chairs were taking up so much space, there wasn't much room for them to go. It was nice they had a big TV on the wall playing music videos of all the music they were playing. Overall, I will probably come back for the food, but not the dancing. read more

This place is a championship winner! We were just there this past Tuesday which was our 2nd visit this month. The ambiance is bright and vibrant. The TVs are huge and high quality and there is not a bad seat in the house if you want to catch a game. The music is modern and the place is clean and inviting. With both visits our servers were bubbly, nice and extremely attentive. 2 separate managers also checked in with our table and were genuinely interested with our experience. So far we have ordered wings in the Buffalo and Honey Siracha. They were cooked really well and were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They come 3 huge pieces to an order for $14 but they are the entire wing with tip, flat and drum attached. My wife has had the California Chopper Salad and Buffalo Salad and she was really happy with both of them. I have had the Shishito Philly and the Shrimpo sandwich. I got the waffle fries for my side and they were great. The Shishito Philly was delicious and the there is a surprise smear of cream cheese added for some richness. The Shrimpo aka shrimp po-boy came with a lot of large and nicely breaded and fried shrimp. The slaw on top added a nice citrus to help add extra texture. I'd say the amount of slaw was a little heavy handed but it was easy to take some off myself. Do yourself a favor and end the meal with the Funnel Fries! They are heavily dusted in a sugar coating and served with warm dark chocolate. As for Covid measures, everybody in the front area of the dining/bar area were always masked up. The tables were not seated to where everybody was crammed near one another. The only one negative which is a peeve of ours is when drinks come with a lime that are past there prime.
