After a disappointing experience at another spot, I decided to stop in here after reading some reviews and taking a chance. The service was on point, Sobia didn't not hesitate to greet and take my order. The jalapeño burger was absolutely off the chain -- perfectly grilled, juicy, and packed with flavor. The fries were cooked just right and complemented the meal perfectly. Finally, a meal that actually felt worth paying for today, even if it was "just bar food." Black Door Pub is the closest thing in Aurora to a club. Features covers and DJs along with too many people. It seems to be most popular among Latinos and they play mostly music for them. Hey, this music is often pretty danceable. The bar is kind of small so it's hard to move around inside. Feels more like a club than a pub, as there's mainly just drinks and not really any food. It would be too hard to eat in here. Things seem like they would take forever to come out because it's too crowded, and it's so hard to hear anything so it's easy to mess up. Female bartenders wear butt hugging onesies. There's armed security. It's about $7 for an average cocktail. That's still a lot cheaper than inner city clubs so it's comparatively okay. Gets most action on weekends mostly because it seems like other times it's alway closed. It always has a DJ so there's usually a cover whenever they are open. The bar isn't that big so it's not a good idea bringing a large group with you so only keep it to a few and you'll have good times. read more

Music is so horrible and the new DJ isn't playing music to the tastes of their audience and plays music which is not relevant to the patrons that frequent the bar. I ask the management to find a better DJ that reflective of its audience. Please get a better DJ because I will not be returning on the weekends if this type of music is being played at your establishment. read more

Went expecting the typical night life scene and I ran into this. The bathrooms are disgusting. The place is shoulder to shoulder crowded and the scene is just not my cup of tea. But I will say... it lives up to its reputation if that's what you're into. read more

Me and a few friends wanted to go out without actually traveling to Chicago, and decided to try this place out. There's no coverage charge besides $5 on Saturdays and I heard their food was really good (especially the nachos). The place isn't that big and was a bit crowded, it was a bit hard to navigate through but then again what club isn't!? They have these security guards that are pretty armed, they're even wearing bullet proof vests (or at least that's what they look like). One can either find this very comforting and reassuring in regard to their sense of safety, or find it a bit unnerving. I was somewhere in the middle. The dance floor is nice and there is seating available as well, the ladies that worked there gave my friends and I a free shot and some gifts. We got this pendulum, and a portable charger! That was thoughtful and nice on the staff's behalf! I think it is important to note that this place plays 98% Latin music! I honestly would consider it a Latin night club based off the music alone, if you're someone who enjoys pop,rap,hip-hop, electro, etc you probably won't find much of that here! We still had a great time though. This place definitely closes earlier than most clubs in Chicago (obviously) at about 2:00 A.M. so that's helpful to know, not everyone wants to party until 4-5 A.M. anyways! I don't know how soon I'll be back to this place and the security guards are a bit pushy when it's time to leave. However, if you are stranded in the humble city of Aurora this place could be your quick fix for a decent night. It may not be a Chicago night club, but it will do. read more

Stopped in on a Tuesday night. Much better than the bar that looked like a house a mile away. Bartender was nice and friendly. She introduced herself right away. Black Door Pub exceeded my expectations. On the outside, it looks like an ordinary dive bar in a strip mall, sometimes with shady characters hanging out smoking in front of the building. On the inside, my first impression was that it was an ordinary (but clean) sports bar, mostly populated with neighborhood folks - and some old borrachos playing pool who, through squinted eyes and inbetween swigging Modelos, tried to buy my friend & I our drinks. No thanks, I'll pass. The crowd is predominately men, varying in age. Women began to come in after 9:00 p.m., once the DJ started playing. The bartenders are friendly and attentive and can sometimes be seen doing shots with the patrons. I'm not too keen on that, but it did not affect my experience here. Even my vodka soda was on point. Like I said, I didn't expect much from this bar. There's a full bar, a few beers on draft, even a few bottles of Sutter Home (eeek!) behind the bar. They looked a little dusty though. The food menu is host to typical bar food including burgers, sandwiches, and fried appetizers of all kinds. The mozzarella sticks were terrible, but the Poblano bites were amazing, better than any jalapeno poppers. This place is huge. There are pool tables, casino gaming, darts, and a sea of tables. There's a corner with an elevated DJ booth and a spacious dance floor. The DJ started playing around 9pm on Friday night, and that was a game changer for me. Not many people were dancing, but the DJ played some decent EDM/house and phased into some Latin beats closer to 10pm, when we were on our way out. That's when the borrachas started to come in, dressed to impress in cheap polyester shirts, too tight pants, and bad manicures. For some reason, there are security guards here. Their presence reminded me of skeezy clubs I used to hang out at when I turned 21 and chugged down jager bombs. I'm not sure if the security guard (they added a second one later in the night) is supposed to make me feel more safe or lead me to believe that a fight or two might break out here. Since Black Door Pub opened in the spring of 2013, it has slowly grown into a pretty darn good local bar. You enter the establishment through a big ol' black door (makes sense, right?) To your right is a small room with a pool table, straight in front of you is the bar, and to your left is the dining room, a small dance floor, and a stage. The room feels surprisingly spacious, probably because of the lack of walls separating the different sections and the high ceiling. They have a row of flatscreens above the bar, and a few in more in other spots - more than enough to see whatever game you'd like to watch without seeming like an assault on your senses. Tables, chairs, restrooms, etc are clean and well maintained. The food at Black Door is solid. I've had a few of the sandwiches as well as a turkey wrap, and they were all good, but I really enjoyed the pork taco plate (which came with fries, which seemed weird at first but was actually very enjoyable!) They're set up well for entertainment - plenty of room for a band or a DJ. I've seen people gettin' down on the dance floor a number of times... Oh, and did I forget to mention that they have a large parking lot with plenty of close parking? I kinda like Black Door Pub - give it a try, and I think you will too! read more

Came here on April 28,2018 for a family birthday party. Everything was going good we were all having a good time. Around midnight I use the restroom by myself. A bunch of girls are in line waiting to use. A group of 4-6 girls came up to me started drama and poured there drinks on me and also start to fight me. Security comes and only comes after me while I have 4-6 girls on me . They only have me kicked out . The other girls somehow get away from "security" and comes after me again while I'm outside. Some of the girls were saying that "security " were there family members of the girls who jumped at me. The security held me down allowing the girls to fight me. I get mace pepper sprayed up close to my eyes by security and he also grabbed my face and started to spray inside of my mouth and my arms. At that point my face was burning and couldn't not see anything. I had foam coming out my mouth and I couldn't breathe . The affect of the mace caused my eyes to be really puffy and red and also my arms are burned from the mace. I just want everyone to know that if you want to feel safe don't go to black door. They will not keep you safe I never felt this way in my life. I wish I could put zero stars if it was an option . Went around 10pm on a Thursday night which might explain the fact that it was relatively empty. The DJ played lots of 1990s-2000 jams and folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. Dance floor is a reasonable size however it was empty the whole time I was there. Drinks were on the cheap side. Gin and tonic for $6.50. No cover charge. Verdict: an alright place to hang out. Black Door Pub is a great place to go hang out and drink. The food is amazing! my favorite is the $1.50 tacos on Wednesdays, all the bar tenders are friendly and courteous. If you're looking for a casual eat/drink on the weekdays this is the place to be. Tuesday's you can request your favorite music, Wednesday's you can get the best tacos in Aurora! If you come on the weekend be ready to dance it gets like a small nightclub close to home I recommend it! Never had a problem there! read more

This place has good music but the bartenders try to rob you. Please pay attention to what you are charged. I left my tab open and at the end of the night had drinks on my tab that I had not ordered. They expect people to be drunk and not notice but since I was the designated driver I didn't drink and gave my drinks to my friends so I noticed right away when my tab was off. When I disputed my tab the bartender tried to deny her error but ended up correcting after some time but still ended up giving me an attitude even though she should apologize for her mistake. My only regret was not getting her name so I could report her to her manager. Please be careful I'm sure they do this to drunk people all the time and they get taken advantage. read more

Great dance atmosphere and music but it takes 20 minutes to get one drink because the bartenders go to who they know every time. I stood at the bar for a solid 15 minutes before my boyfriend had to ask a manager to get us a drink. It was ridiculous. They are always super packed which is great but they need to hire more bartenders or get faster ones. Bathrooms are also awful, toilets are crooked and there's a hole in the floor! I have been coming here for a few years now. I always have an amazing time with friends. Yes the service is slow. Yes bartender usually tend to their friends or male customer before anyone else. But overall, I am able to have a great time with my friends. But my opinion has changed after my experience last night. I have had one other experience like this in the years that I have been. When I first started going I had a tab running. At the end of the night I went to close out and came find a $150+ bill. In which I was expecting only about $40 MAX. I asked to see the description of my tab and had seen they had been putting someone else's drinks on my tab. I argued for about 30 minutes, but they had already closed out my tab and would do nothing for me. I called my bank and they were happy to dispute the charge. From that day, I decided I would not have a tab open. Until last night.... It was PACKED. The bar lines were extremely long so I decided it'd be easier to keep a tab open. At the end of the night I went to close out my tab. I handed the "bartender" (if that's what you want to call her) my ID so she could verify my name, but she said my tab was closed already. So I asked "where is my card?". In which she replied "your tabs closed, which means you have your card." Which I didn't. I told her she needed to check again. She came back and said they didn't have it. So I proceeded to ask her how they could just give my card to just anyone. We kept going back and fourth and she finally said "I have other customers so what do you want me to do?". First thing, I shouldn't of even had to have been fighting with her in the first place. Secondly, how dare you ask ME to come up with a solution for YOUR mistake. I was speechless. And she just walked away. And refused to get her manager. This place was a joke. Came here for a coworkers birthday and was unable to be served for at least 20 minutes! They had a good sized crowd but that wasn't why I waited. Visited Black Door recently for the 1st time and was pleasantly surprised. The place is conveniently located right off Indian Trail. This was formerly an Irish bar but you would never tell. It's been completely re-done. To be honest, it's probably one of the more underrated bars in the area, and I've been to all of them. You'll be surprised to find how nice and spacious it is inside. Bar area is really cool with nice quality wood and it has a nice pool table to pass time and plenty of televisions to watch the game. Food was good and better than most bar food I've had. The chicken wings are served with perfectly seasoned fresh cut fries. Nachos are huge but could use a bit more veggies. Excellent beer selection at more than reasonable prices. They have weekly specials that can't be beat. Bartenders were very nice and friendly. It started getting busy later in evening as it appeared they were getting ready for live music. This place should do well once people start finding out about it. Looking forward to going back late at night or during football season!! read more
