Carrie always provides us great service and had good suggestions off the menu. This visit we started with the cheese curds, they were delicious! Got some drinks and food from this Irish pub in Aurora. It seems like food is an afterthought but they still have a full menu. McBride's North is one of several locations so you can check out and compare these. Certainly seems like a place to come for a gathering. There's plenty of tables as well as TVs for watching games and whatever kinds of sports. Beers and other alcoholic beverages are why you come to an Irish pub of course. It's got a few deals going on. There's of course the Guinness on tap. Can't go wrong with it. Saturdays it's $6 a pint. As for the food, it's basic. It's $7 to get a few of the Pretzel Sticks. Could be the healthiest food here. These are topped with garlic butter and salt, and served with bistro sauce and nacho cheese, but I got mine without the butter and had mustard. Have to say it's a lot better than expected. I like this place! It has a cozy feel to it and they bring out complimentary chips and cheese dip-strong start. The soft pretzel sticks were great and I enjoyed my paddy melt and mashed potatoes- the gravy was great! The issue is charging a "$1 Saturday import surcharge" ( itemized as such on the bill) for a non alcoholic import that's already $5 a bottle. Tariff gauging? Ridiculous pricing. read more

Well my first visit was memorable, as I had a coupon for a free Italian beef with drink purchase. My folks won it on bingo Wednesdays. Wasn't aware of the complimentary chips and queso, that would have been a meal alone. The sandwich came with cheese, I also smeared some queso on a couple bites. Great crinkle cut fries nice and crispy. Disappointed the tea isn't fresh brewed, but out of a gun. They have a nice patio, which I took advantage of on a 80° day on 10/29/24. I stopped by last Saturday night to watch the performer play. I was there for about thirty minutes at least and not once did the female server ask if I wanted anything. She passed by me numerous times. She even dropped off some drinks at my table that were for the performer who happened to be my friend. No excuse for not bothering to ask if I at least wanted a drink. read more

Had a great visit at Gene and Jude's last night. It was more of a "destination" type dinner since we probably spent more on gas than our dinner actually cost but it was worth it. I sat in my car and people watched and was proud/excited to see the traditions of patronage being passed down to younger generations. I say this because I saw a small bunch of men bringing their kids last night. They lined the kids up at the counter and they all ate. From my window seat, I saw tops of little heads with little hands reaching up for fries as proud papas watched them eat. It truly was a classic moment. No, I did not take pics of that moment, that's a bit creepy but it would have been cute to share. :) read more

The food is tasteless, seems that is not seasoned at all. The portions are decent but is just the lack of flavor.

Disappointed because we loved this bar but are not going to return. We didn't receive the free chips and queso per usual and service was slow. No silverware or napkins given with our food and it was at least 5 minutes before we were checked on to receive the silverware. We came on trivia night and hoped to have a good time. The worst part is the fact that one of the questions used the term "illegal alien" as it asked the nickname for people who harbor them coming from Mexico. We left immediately. My fiancée is distraught as this outdated and xenophobic language is not acceptable in this tumultuous time. You are either on the right side of history or you're not! Even if the questions are outdated enough for that term to be acceptable, I am appalled the reader didn't have the decency to swap the words out. Have you ever read a book to a child before? Same idea. Would be saving you a customer who is willing to look past the slow service for the food. Unfortunately, they don't seem to care that they're in Aurora, a place where immigrants matter! I can tell by the fact that almost every customer I've ever seen in your establishment is white. It definitely seems like an exclusive club and this REALLY doesn't help the case. read more

We love McBride's! We have gotten takeout many times before and have eaten inside a few times before. We are always so happy with the food, drinks and service. We went on Wednesday Bingo night which was an absolute blast and had some really great prizes! Anything from a cute decorative lamp up to a 1000$ jackpot, they have several normal gifts cards as prizes as well. There were at least half a dozen winners when we played. The hostess of the game was perfect as well and made it more fun. Food wise, everything was absolutely phenomenal and the portions are insane. The photos provided are was was leftover, easily two meals in one so expect to have leftovers! All the drinks were fantastic as well. Always nice when a place makes decent cocktails. Yesterday we phoned in an order because we wanted to support a local business impacted by the Governors ban on indoor dining. Imagine our surprise when we found the business still operating and ignoring the order. My first reaction was to not go in and pick up our order, however we didn't think that would be the right thing to do. So, I'm lowering my previous review by two stars with an explanation. I truly understand the impact of what and how government mandated order can impact small businesses. My family was in the Service Station and Car Wash Industry during the Arab Oil Embargo during the Arab Oil Embargo that began in 1973 until 1974. The government stepped in and allocated fuel , forced "recommendations" to close on Saturday and Sunday. Rationing the amount of fuel sold to each customer to keep employees working and people driving. Once the fuel allocation ran out, stations had to close and employees were left without an income. Including owners that too had a business and family themselves to support. There were some that ignored the orders, purchased fuel through black market sources and thrived. My father didn't operate that way. He was part of the WWII Greatest Generation, all too familiar with the rationing that was enacted for the Allies to win the war. So, I do understand firsthand the difficulties a small business faces during these COVID times. I'm not too sure when this is over, if we will ever be customers again. I know that might not seem fair, because a small business is trying to stay open. What really isn't fair is that my wife, and nieces all in healthcare have been working nonstop since this outbreak caring for sick and dying patients. Imagine if during WWII, more people ignored rationing.... didn't sacrifice for the greater good. They are remembered as the Greatest Generation, what will we be remembered as? read more

We actually stopped in on the 31st and everything was closing early due the freezing weather but we got so lucky finding this hidden gem! I believe our servers name was Robyn, she was very polite and took great care of us! The coke and runs were perfect, I had a ham and bacon chicken wrap that was AMAZING! I was able to save half and eat it for breakfast haha! My Prince Charming had what I think was a the Philly cheese and he ate every bite - not all the fries but they kind of remind me of white caste fries. The service here was terrible, I was sat in the back corner where all the waitress staff congregate, I was left sitting there forever. I glared at what appeared to be the waitress manager and she told one of the ladies to take care of me. That person never came back and another waitress came back and said they are busy right now and asked what I wanted to drink and I also told her I wanted the fish fry they had. But never brought me a drink and never came back. Then another couple came in and sat in front of me which looked to be regulars. They were sitting three minutes and the waitress immediately brought cheese dip and chips, complimentary and I said what about me I have been sitting here which now had been 15 minutes. They gave the dip to me and brought the other table some more but then brought plates napkins and silverware and glasses of water to them. by then 25 minutes went by and i got up and left apparently I must have been invisible. This place sucks, I will never go there again and I would not recommend to anyone. You do not treat customers this way. They can keep their staff and their regulars. Disappointing at best. read more

This place has gone down hill fast. Not sure if it is related to post Covid staffing issues or cost cutting measures. Menu consists of anything they can deep fry. Fish and chips were terrible. Fish was probably in their freezer for weeks. Don't risk going with the shepherds pie either. Has cubes of the worst grade steak you have ever tried. It's a shame. read more

We live really close to McBride's North, so like many of our neighbors we end up coming here a lot. Everything is normally pretty good and they're consistent. We used to come for Wednesday Bingo which was always packed and fun. It definitely has a neighborhood feel to it. Lately, we've been coming and enjoying a quick bite and drinks on their patio. They expanded their outdoor space by sectioning off part of the parking lot. They're also dog friendly and provide water bowls if you bring your pups. They are now doing the thing we've being seeing at other restaurants during the coronavirus pandemic where you scan a QR code that links you to the menu. Sanitary and environmentally friendly! The food, while nothing special, has always been good and the portions are a nice size. They have tasty wing sauces. They also keep their beer list updated on Untappd, so if you like craft beer you can check it out before you go. read more

Extremely average, weird vibe. Last night, with maybe 10 people in the place, I tried to buy a drink for some family friends and their daughter on her 21st birthday. The waitress wouldn't serve her because she didn't get a "horizontal license", even though she had a valid ID, could confirm her birthday and was with her freaking parents - they refused to serve her a beer. There is a letter of the law and spirit of the law, just be cool and understand the situation. You don't have to take your inch of power and make things difficult, it's pathetic. They were going to meet 20+ people there but got up and left, great business and common sense decision making!! When I asked to speak to a manager, she told me they didn't have one. read more

Was here on a Tuesday afternoon and came for drinks. There was quite a few people sitting at the bar which was surprising. The bar is new and looks very nice, lots of TVs. I ordered a chocolate chip martini which was so delicious that I proceeded to have 2 more! My drink was amazing, the service was good, and lots of friendly people at the bar. I used to come here a few times after working out next door... (I know I know). I was taking my friend's Zumba class and we would spend some time catching up here after. When we went, they were usually having a trivia night, although we never participated in that. It seemed fun though. The questions were interesting and the person asking the questions was pretty entertaining. When we went, we sat ourselves and the waitress brought us chips and queso. It was ok, but the queso was kind of cold. It was free so we never really minded. The food is typical bar food, with some pretty large portions. I've had the salad and the ingredients were fresher than I was anticipating, but I am never a fan of deli meat on the salad. Their sandwiches are have been pretty good and their fries are warm and crispy. Also, service has been prompt and the waitresses have been very nice. It is a nice, staple bar for the area. read more
