Underwhelming. My wife and I stopped today for lunch prior to seeing a play at the Paramount. First, the table we were given wobbled badly. So we moved to another table and it also wobbled. I propped a folded napkin to steady the table. Our server was friendly and respectful, but slow. We ordered a Fried Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer. They were nice and crispy, but lacked seasoning -- salt, for example -- none! My wife ordered the strip steak. It was loaded with gristle; she had no choice but to leave partly chewed beef on her plate; gross, but necessary. I ordered the fish tacos. There was so much salad on these tacos, it rendered the fish non-existent; literally, I couldn't taste, or even find the fish. We finished with a slice of Creme Brûlée Cheesecake that was amazing!! Delicious! While Two Brother's beer is generally exceptional, and the atmosphere at the Roundhouse is quite interesting, their food sucks. They need a new chef!! read more

New Years Eve Party Don't waste your money on this type of event. The food was bearable, appetizers were sub part, seating was terrible and the open bar only offered Two Brothers liquor. I ordered a Bacardi and diet coke with a lime and was told that they only served TB rum. Their rum was terrible. Plus you had to pay for mixed drinks. I've been to Abbington's NYE, it was $50 more but you get a hell more. Never will I go to Two Brothers for any meal or event. If there was a minus star for this even they got it. read more

Ambiance and food were great but service could use some improvements. The building is super spacious and fun. I've heard it's super fun to come in the summer when the courtyard is open. It was a bit too chilly when we came so we sat inside. We were able to choose our table so we picked a spot right in front of the fireplace. Everything on the menu sounded great! We started with an appetizer off the specials menu (crawfish dip) and then I had the brisket grilled cheese as my meal. The sandwich was great and the fries were some of the best I've ever had. The service could use some work. It felt like it took a long time for our waitress to wait on us and for our food to arrive. We were long overview to check out the Two Brothers Roundhouse and the crazy long lines at the Christkindle market gave us the push we needed. It's nice. Bar area is first come first seated. We went in a busy day and sat right away. Servers were a bit overwhelmed but were upbeat and on game. The beer was fine. Nothing amazing but not bad. I think many people have heard about and probably been to the Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora. I however had passed by before but this was my first time and I was really looking forward to finally going. Walking in you notice that it's a huge building. I did see noted on the menu that it's the largest Roundhouse in the United States. The layout almost seems a little confusing. The bar is up there, there's a coffee shop over there, the courtyard and hostess stand is right in front of you. Although I did notice a sign that said something about a cover charge to sit outside. I'm not sure what that was about. Could that of been accurate? Although this was a Saturday afternoon at 130. Maybe that's for when there's music? I would have liked to have sat outside but I didn't see any TV's outside so we sat inside. Several minutes had gone by before the bartender had taken our drink order let alone even acknowledge us. It took so long to even be acknowledged or given menus that I grabbed menus that were next to the register at the bar. I grabbed two paper menus and then a menu that was covered in a plastic cover. I think that was the wrong menu though because when the bartender finally did come over to us she hastily took that menu back, so I assume that was the wrong menu? I wouldn't know though she didn't say anything and I didn't get a chance to look at it. There was a game on the TV and the place was rather not busy. However the one bartender was also taking care of a party of at least a dozen at a few nearby tables that were pushed together. There definitely should have been another bartender or server. Although I did see several food runners. We ordered the calamari, which for $17 seemed like a small portion for a high price and a couple of beers. I did notice that when the beers were poured, not only ours but most of the beers I saw being poured from the tap seemed like there was something wrong with the tap. A lot of beer was being wasted. The reason I noticed is when after ordering my drink I looked to see which beers were on tap. I noticed that there was a lot of foam when beers were being poured. Too bad so much was being wasted because Two Brothers has a solid selection of beers and I hate to see any being wasted. There was a wedding party that was there and several of the guests had asked for coffee at the bar. The bartender however made it seem like such a hassle and that she didn't know why coffee wasn't available for them in the area they were set up at. She had to leave the bar a few times to give the check to a member of the wedding party or maybe have something added to their bill? Apparently the coffee was in the back because she left the bar for several minutes to return with coffee. There definitely was some frustration with the bartender she seemed to be constantly busy. Between tending bar and bussing tables, it was apparent they were definitely short staffed. I asked for a glass of water and then another drink. I was excited to try a seasonal offering and after only three sips of beer, it happened. My friend noticed something crawling across the bar right in front of us. I managed to take a few pics and showed a closeup picture of what it was to my friend. It was what we thought it was. A cockroach. I pushed back my chair away from the bar because I was ready to go. The bartender had just walked up to the register when my friend said to her that there was a bug under her register. She lifted it up and claimed she didn't see anything. We said it was a cockroach, she finished at the register and walked away. He asked for for bill and we left. As much as I wanted to finish that beer because it was good I was completely put off by the fact that she was so nonchalant about it. I don't know what I expected her to do but I think at least say that she'll tell the manager about it would of been a reasonable expectation of a response. She clearly couldn't have cared less and because of the lack of giving a hoot, I won't return. Which is too bad because it looks like Two Brothers Roundhouse can be a fun place but I'll never know because I won't come back. Even now looking at the pictures I took seeing how dirty the register area is only supports that there is a lack of cleanliness at Two Brothers Roundhouse. The highlight was a server who had been walking past us when we first entered as we were trying to decide if we wanted to sit at the bar or outside. She stopped to tell us the bar was seat yourself or we could see the hostess for a table. That server, I didn't catch their name was short in height, that I remember and was the saving grace for this place otherwise I would have given no stars. At least one employee seems to care. To whoever you were, thanks. I'll keep you on staff and replace everyone else when I buy Two Brothers Roundhouse because I'll add a brother and do a better job. We had a great time at Two Brothers. Such a unique building of a former train turn-around. Our large group started w/appetizers, my favorite being the roasted brussel sprouts. Had the pasta Bolognese which was very good. The best part of the evening was enjoying the performance of Cadillac Groove in the performance venue. Two Brothers Roundhouse has been a destination in Downtown Aurora for many years! The inside is large as the accommodate a bar area, dining area, banquet hall, and central courtyard. I've dined here a couple of times, mostly for lunch, and leave feeling content but never blown away by their food/beers. This time, I ordered the Roadhouse Burger. The burger was definitely juicy but ended up leaving my lower bun soggy. The fries are perfectly crispy and ranch is homemade (try it!). Our server was wonderful this visit! The price range of menu items felt fair to slightly high for being in Aurora. Overall, I don't mind when someone suggests coming to Two Brothers but never select this restaurant as a go to myself. read more

This is a beautiful and huge place, with a tons of history. There are some really fun areas to look around and explore as well. We didn't order any food, but what we saw looked really good. Prices are reasonable too, but not cheap. The beer selection was good, and they have a full bar, including various hard alcohols of their own brand. There was a wedding happening while we were there, so service was chaotic. But once that died down, the service was great. This is a spectacular spot for a couple relaxed drinks in any season. read more

We haven't been here in years, but we were going to see Frozen at Paramount Theater and decided to stop in here for an early dinner before the show. It's winter and it was 4pm on a Sunday so it wasn't super lively. It was however pretty busy in the dinning area (full of people also going to Frozen). We were promptly seated and our waitress was pretty attentive. Good came out fairly quick, which was also good. I wasn't super hungry because it was 4pm. The outside of the wings were crispy but almost overdone and tough. My husband has a Caesar wrap, which he said was good. The kids had kids meals and they didn't complain. The bathroom has always been kind of icky there. Mirrors are cracked etc. chairs in the dinning room had gashes in the seat cushion. I didn't have a chair when we got to our table and they brought over some random chair that didn't go with the table. It was hard, uncomfortable and had arm rests on it. My husband wants to come back in the summer months when it's a little more fun. read more

There are no beer flights available which seems weird for a brewery. But we did have a few samples to figure out which to order. There is to-go beer. Menu online has different beers than what are available in house. My husband and I ordered the pretzel as a starter. The pretzel was delicious by itself. The mustard was way too zingy. The cheese was gritty. The burgers were just ok, nothing exciting and the fries tasted like fish. Husband received the unidentifiable fryer turd on his plate. Someone didn't look over the plate very well before sending it out, and someone needs to clean the fryer. Our server didn't check on us after our food was brought out, only when we were done and to bring the check. We had to ask someone else for ketchup and mustard, which was empty. Food is brought out runners. The Christmas lights were nice, but that's not an all year thing. Lots of space at the tables. Overall, not super impressive. This was the worst food I've had in a very long time. There was a piss poor excuses for a ribeye sandwich. It was thinner than the hostess' patience. On the contrary, the chicken parm sandwich was thicker than a bicycle seat. But somehow still wet? Thank God that the fries were decent. We recently visited this place with a small group. There is plenty of seating inside and out, plus they have a room for events (and they had some kind of a reunion while we were there with a band that sounded like they were killing small animals), and I think they have like a coffee and pastry nook. The first view we have of this place is the parking. Not living in the area, we pulled into the main lot and there was only Valet Parking which was complimentary, but wasn't roped off well, so people can drive up various aisles to get to the valet and diners were cutting people off as they raced through the lot to get to the valet. It was a dangerous and stupid set up. Had I known there was additional parking on the other side of the place, I would have parked there and avoided the valet altogether. And I'll comment here on getting my car at the end. One valet grabbed my ticket, grabbed a key fob out of the valet case of keys and handed it to another valet. That valet drove up with someone else's pickup (not my car). I had an immediate flashback to another place that had valet that "lost" my keys because the dopes put them in a drawer and not in the case. The valet looked at my puzzled face and asked, "not yours?" I said no and that it was not a white pickup but a green Ford SUV. He said, 'that other guy is a complete moron" and went to get my car. Good to know that two of the three guys working there aren't complete morons. So we get inside, sit down and talk. The sound level isn't bad for such a big place, but if someone in. your group talks softly, you won't hear them. Our table got their drinks and ordered a couple appetizers. The brussel sprouts (ick!) and Beer Brezen (jumbo soft pretzels). The pretzels were good and my wife ordered the soup of the day which she said was good. I ordered the Classic Burger and she got the "New" Fall Salad. The burger was good. To me, you have to be able to taste the meat, and you could. I ordered it medium rare and it came medium rare. There was a lot of stuff on the burger though, so I ended up deconstructing it, which is not a turnoff to me. Other people ordered The Roundhouse Burger, the fish tacos, classic burger, and a chopped salad. They were all good. Overall, the food was good. Not fabulous, just good. The service was good. It wasn't that packed, but our server didn't come check on us or refill drinks until we were basically don'e with our meals. However, after they brought the check, then they were attentive a lot waiting for us to pay (though there wasn't a line to get in, so why try to rush us out?) It's a pretty decent place to go for a sandwich or salad and a drink, but if the band is the same, skip that part (seriously, the singer needed to get some singing lessons) and park on the other side of the building as the valet wasn't set up well. read more

The inside is huge with lots of seating indoor and outdoor, looked interesting. Will probably need to visit on a weekend when it's busy. We ordered a lot of food for our table, appetizers and mains. All the apps tasted good. I got an old fashioned, which was quite strong, I enjoyed it. Our group ordered different beers - heard all tasted great! I got the blackened chicken sandwich, which was alright, nothing special. I really liked the smoked chicken penne, the sauce was yummy! I also tasted the pasta ratatouille, not that great. I'm a fan. Domaine DuPage is a favorite. I will go and try coffee Sunday morning at the car show. The restaurant, bar and facility is big. On weekends they have bands - it is a fun place. Throwing a party in the smaller bar is a deal. Great date place - if Your date doesn't like the place, ditch 'em or call a Uber for them and stay... Now, for my only criticism: I wish the menu was more simple and less expensive. Give me a happy hour special or an $8 sandwich and I'm in. read more

For my son's birthday we decided to hop on the train from our DuPage locale and ride out to Aurora for a birthday lunch at Two Brother's. You can't go wrong with a train ride and train themed experience with two little boys! I hadn't been to the Round House yet and was really impressed with the historic building and the transformation into a brew pub. The beer garden is HUGE! Which I loved. The gazebo hosts bands on certain nights. Inside you have a large bar and restaurant on one side, a coffee house on the other (appropriate as this is a train station) and a little retail section in the middle. Yes we did grab some beer on the way out! But let's talk about the food. I got the walleye with potato pancakes which was excellent. We had the garlic cheese curds and soft pretzel for appetizers and both had a gourmet touch, definitely not from freezer to frier like you get sometimes! However, the soup was really awesome. It was a chickpea with andouille sausage which was smoky, salty, delicious. I really want to come back for a dinner and enjoy this place as a live music venue. I feel like we didn't get the full experience because this place has much to offer. If you're looking for a train station venue that's both family friendly and fun for adults, historic, and safe, forget Union Station. Head west to Aurora. We had a lovely day! read more

Another brewery that's in Aurora is in the old round brick building. It has a convenient location next to the Metra station. Two Brothers is a surprisingly large bar with lots of room for banquets and big things. Make some events here. You can also come in and knock back a few beers and try some of the okay bar food as well. Came in with a friend to have suds, food, and watch a game. It was quiet so we got a seat at the bar and was able to get served as soon as we got in. They weren't busy even though it was a weekend. It made us wonder what's going on. What could be wrong with this place that it could be as slow as it was. I had a Wizard Staff, a funny name for a beer. It's $6 for a pint. This is a tropical IPA with citrus and tropical fruits while being slightly bitter too. As for the food my options were limited because there's not much vegetarian friendly here. We had the Beer Brazen, a pretzel. It's $8 for a really big one. This comes with premium lager beer cheese, or mustard if you would rather have that. For sure we could make it back here. Day 1: I stopped in for lunch two days in a row on my way from Chicago and on my way back the next day and very pleased that I did. Over the years I'd only stop in for a drink while waiting on the train to the city. I decided I'd try out their menu since I'd be in Aurora a little longer than usual. On my way in I sat at the bar and ordered my usual margarita rocks and salt with a shot of silver tequila on the side. The bartender was great and made good conversation as I sat and ordered my fish tacos. They came out VERY quickly and I wondered how can they be any good. I'm a huge fan of cabbage and their recipe is perfect with pico de gallo for the "zip!". Well, I was wrong they exceeded my expectations, and I'm a bit of a taco snob. I knew I'd be coming back thru the next day and had already decided what I would order. Day 2: I had some time to kill before my train to the city was leaving so I arrived at 11AM sharp and ordered the usual. A margarita rocks and salt with a shot of silver tequila on the side. This time the glass was smaller but the drink was just as good There was a really small young woman working the bar and I say small because she was carrying some mighty heavy food service supplies. Also as friendly as the guy the day before. I ordered the beer battered fish (cod) and chips and was very good as I had expected. Outside a storm was brewing and downtown was getting flooded. There was the NASCAR event and a Cubs game. The train I intended to board was running very late and it would be too crowded or me. Two Brothers Roundhouse is the place to be if you wanna kill time and I had a couple of hours so I went back to the bar, opened my laptop and enjoyed the atmosphere and a couple more drinks. I told a friend it'd be worth a ride out one weekend to try the prime rib. I haven't had a nice prime rib in years, If its anything like what I had this rainy July weekend I know it'll be killer. Though this fascinating place has been in existence for decades, since Sweetness bought and refurbished the building (circa 1856!!) in 1996, we finally ate here. Fascinating, ENORMOUS facility. Restaurant, private rooms, bar, Cafe, courtyard, banquet rooms, entertainment stage, gift/liquor shop were all contained IN the roundhouse. And a tribute area to Walter Payton. Also, an adorable, kid-size Thomas The Tank Engine roundtable. Very nicely refurbished, with high ceilings that would have housed locomotives back in the day. Two Brothers on site brewery has terrific beers. Our meal was very good. Flash fried, crispy Brussels sprouts with sweet chili sauce started off our meal, a huge platter, enough for 4 people. We had a filet & prime rib. Both came with mashed & green beans. Fine quality meats. Good mashed; crisp, bright green beans. Parmesan crust on filet needs a little work, appeared to be plain parm sprinkled & broiled. Coffee was good. Service was above average, but we had to hunt for our server a couple of times. Would recommend, for sure. They do host some events, so check b4 you go. Sign outside indicated antique car shows every Sunday, gets crowded. Save some time to have a walk around. You'll be glad you did. Lots of parking. Pretty close to River Edge Park. Holiday Inn next door. P.s. told the manager that they should sell little trains in the gift shop. Fool me once . . . This is the second bad review I've had to write for the same reason so I won't be going back. The food is decent, the building is phenomenal, but the bus staff is overly aggressive in removing your plates when you still have food on them. This same fellow interrupted us again last evening - as he started to take a plate - so it's doubly annoying. I told him to stop and not come back but it put a damper on the group. No one wants an argument at dinner. If people want a box they'll ask for it, but only when they are done eating. This is restaurant management 101. read more
