First time coming and I'd have to give it maybe 3 stars. We were greeted nearly immediately upon entering, only one other table of patrons when we arrived. No music or any background sound so it was kind of an awkward setting to sit and eat. Too quiet really. Staff was kind and attentive, although the food was just meh. We happened to come in on a special night for buy one, get one entrees so that certainly helped as the price was a bit on the steep side especially considering what you're paying for. Mozzarella sticks for example were $12 which, I dunno, kinda seems high for a simple appetizer. We ended up splitting a burger, a buffalo chicken wrap, and some chicken pasta between the three of us. The burger definitely began as a frozen patty without much flavor and certainly nothing to get overly excited about. The wrap had just a small handful of buffalo chicken in it, as I found myself literally searching for it as it was eaten. Paid an extra $2 for sweet potato fries and they all tasted burnt. And the noodles just tasted like butter noodles with processed chicken breast. So... I don't know. I'd like to say we'd go again but I'm not too sure. read more

Great potential. Horrible food. Server was nice. Ordered a taco salad. Menu stated it came in a taco shell, black beans , tortilla strips, & southwest dressing, and spinach. We had our wedding ceremony and reception here at Pearces on 09/20/20, amidst a global pandemic, and I could not recommend them more for ANY event you need! Alan and Chris (the owners) were absolute pleasures to work with. They were seriously on top of everything!We opted to have a small wedding and reception of about 50 people due to Covid-19, and we decided to have a very short engagement of only 4 months to race before the virus got really bad. I was in a crunch to find a venue that wasn't my parents backyard, and I had looked at legitimately 300 places before I found Pearces. I reached out to inquire for more info, and Chris got back to me ASAP and had me out there to show me the grounds and talk prices with me very last minute. Their grounds are beautiful; the golf course is very well maintained and their patio/deck has a great feel. We had our ceremony on the golf grounds and had several areas and options to chose, and our sit-down dinner reception in their large tented area in the back by the ceremony area. They took covid protocols seriously as well. The tent was beautiful, clean and huge! Their communication was excellent; I had several questions/concerns as a bride who is trying to plan a short notice wedding with covid restrictions, so needless to say I was a little crazy. They took the time to respond and answer all of my questions, and made me feel very at ease. The venue situation was the least of my worries during the entire 4 months of planning! The price for the venue was OUTSTANDING and the food options and packages were amazing. We chose the chicken and salmon food package and my guests continue to tell me how good the food was! We drew up a simple and easy contract and paying for everything was simple.We had a large bridal party of 22 people, not including parents and our bridal parties spouses. When trying to plan the rehearsal dinner, Chris and Alan sat down with me and my family and talked about what we could do with food and how to arrange things. We ended up having quite a few extra people than expected at the rehearsal dinner, and it got quite tight, but Chris and Alan and the staff did an amazing job at making us feel as though we were the most important party there, kept up with the new high demand, and was very attentive to all of the orders, drinks and needs during the rehearsal dinner. I was insanely impressed as it turned out 45 people had ended up coming in total. (Sorry about that again, Alan and Chris!) The actual wedding went without a hinge. They let my family in early to start decorating early, and were very flexible and accommodating to requests we had for the actual wedding.The staff and owners at Pearces made me feel as though my wedding was the most important event to them and they took it personally to provide a great time! The servers and bar were awesome during the sit down dinner, and they were constantly helping me throughout the whole night with different things I needed. We had gone a few times to eat dinner there before the wedding and every time the staff was excellent. Pleasant, attentive and personable. We had an AMAZING experience and I could not recommend them enough for any event you're wanting to host!Thank you all to the Pearces staff for making our wedding day such an incredible and amazing experience. Beautiful sunny day, no one eating in the restaurant. Tried a simple bar food Nacho's. They did not use any real cheese it was all cheese whiz. The chicken was cold definitely refrigerated and not cooked today. We have tried this place three times over the past three years as it always seems to change ownership and it's not getting any better. Wait staff was not wearing masks during covet. Overall don't waste your money seems like the ownership doesn't care. read more

3 Star food, 5 Star service. Pearce's used to have a steak salad with avocado which is amazing. They replaced it with chicken (boring). Last time I went I was really craving steak and mashed potatoes. They don't make mashed potatoes but our amazing server Morgan brought out a baked potato, butter, and a bowl with a little milk so I could make my own mashed potatoes. 5 star service for the extra effort and friendly personality. The steak was unfortunately not good. We ordered medium and the kitchen sent out well done. We were too hungry to turn it away but it was also bland and chewy. Yuck. Potato skins appetizer was decent but the potato skins were dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. read more

We LOVE this place. It's close to home, the food is always delicious, and the service is always gracious. When my in-laws were in town and wanted to take my parents, my husband and our 2 girls ages 5 & 7 out to dinner, I chose Pearce's and it was perfect. There was something for everyone and it was just the right atmosphere to relax and enjoy a casual meal. The salads are always delicious; one of my favorites is a steak and bleu cheese entree salad. Their fish dishes are also prepared well, and feature tasty -- if not a little too much -- sauce. We love the "cottage fries" a homemade potato chip with a lemon juice and oregano seasoning (gotta try them for an appetizer!). For kids the macaroni & cheese is HUGE-- so we get one order of it and have the kitchen split it into two dishes. Dessert is included for the kids, brownie bites with chocolate sauce and ice cream. If you live in or near Oswego, this is a great spot, even if you didn't play golf at Fox Bend! read more

Never again. Four of us went to dinner here Sat night. We asked if there were any drink specials. Server said martini's we're on special for $5 so 3 of us ordered a martini. Food was ok. When the check came they had charged us $9 each (regular price) for the martini's. We inquired with the server and she said the martini's we ordered weren't on special. We were not told that only some martini's were $5. Menu said Martini's $5 for Saturday. They proceeded to give us a run around but finally agreed to redo the check and charge $5 each for the martini's. Manager Judi accused us of making the server cry. Baloney. We requested the server to change the check to $5 for the martini's civilly and politely. The manager redid the check but then sat in the bar area intentionally making us wait to get the final revised check and return my credit card. One of our group had to go find her to ask her to bring out the check so we could settle up and leave. read more

Whenever we have visiting family, a visit here for a meal always seems to be at the top of their lists. The menu offers a decent selection in a variety of prices. Not sure about other drinks, but the wine is priced reasonably. The biggest hits with the family have been the burgers and salads, particularly the steak salad. It's kind of a minor thing I know but I like that they offer a good variety side choices with their burgers/sandwiches, no fuss or extra charge. I'm pretty accustomed to paying extra when I want I trade my fries for a side salad when I go out, so it's a small but welcome little perk. The atmosphere felt very relaxed and casual. The servers have always been friendly and helpful. Generally prompt as well - I can think of one time where it was a little slow and our server had to divide his time between the people eating inside and those outside, but we weren't in any hurry anyway. read more

After driving by this place many times and always saying we wanted to try it, I found it on Restaurant.com yesterday and decided to finally try it out. We arrived during the late afternoon. There were several cars in the parking lot, but that was quite misleading. We walked in, and were a little disappointed to see that the entire restaurant is a very small lounge area, with maybe 10 or so tables. We asked the gentleman there if that was the entire restaurant, and he stated that they recently had undergone a "renovation," which apparently involved them no longer using the main dining room. When we were seated, there were maybe 2 other tables with patrons seated. Not busy at all for dinnertime. The gentleman at the door was apparently also a waiter and possibly a manager. He was very helpful and provided us with lots of recommendations. We started out with the steak bites. These are supposed to be cuts of filet mignon in an A-1 type sauce. We requested that they be prepared medium. They weren't bad. They looked tasty, and the meat was tender enough, but after having to spit out a couple of pieces of fat - I determined that they must have been a pretty low grade filet. Also, they were cooked medium well or maybe even well done, with the exception of one "bite" which just appeared to be plain ol' raw in the middle. Yuck. For an entrée, I ordered the steak fajitas. I asked the waiter how the steak was, and he said it was high quality. Not true! When the steak fajitas came, the meat was about as high quality as Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (only not as good and much more expensive - around $12.95). They were very tough, and almost every piece had fat on it. Also, these were definitely not fajitas, it was more like a pepper steak. The meat, onions, and peppers were cooked together with stewed tomatoes in a tomato-y sauce. They came with pinto beans (which were very undercooked and hard). My partner had the grilled tilapia, which she said was pretty good. It came with vegetables, and the carrots were almost not even cooked at all. After reading some reviews on here, it sounds like this place has been known to have good food - but I suspect that they are on their way out. They may be struggling, and really just decided to cheapen things up a bit. It was very disappointing. I was really hoping that we would enjoy ourselves and want to return, but it just wasn't up to par. read more

Used to love this place, the food used to me awesome and 'just hanging out' was great. The just hanging out is still awesome, but the food is nowhere near what it used to be. During the summer, I asked the waiter what happened, that there is a very noticeable difference in the food and not for the better. He said that they let go of their chef. That was disappointing to hear, my wife and I used to VERY MUCH look forward to dinner and some drinks once a week there, but now that's gone. Neither one of us will go back for dinner, we had a real bad experience after years of good experiences and since the waiter said they let go of the chef, I don't think it was a rare bad experience. This place is good!!! Even the 11 year old "Princess Precious" (and everyone knows that "precious" is the latin word for "Pain and Eternal Misery") found it to be a worthwhile experience. The food is well prepared, the menu is pretty good for a golf coursie type place. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We sat in the lounge area and had a nice panorama of the golf course and there were 4 tv's to watch as well. The beer was cold, so basically, there is something for everyone. Had an awful experience after golf today. Ordered a fried chicken sandwich and received a piece of chicken that was definitely left in the fryer too long. The manager took the sandwich back but I never received a replacement. On top of that I had to pay for the sandwich. Pretty disappointed as this place used to be great. Props to Gabby for great service, not her fault the sandwich was trash. I'll be back for drinks but definitely won't waste my time eating here again. read more

This place rocks. I've been there a couple of times and each time was delicious. I have tried the Cottage Fries and Artichoke Bacon Dip to start. Man, were those great choices - so good. I've also tried the Buffalo Chicken Salad and the Blue Cheese Burger. Each was very good and the burger was done just right. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. We wanted to try something new for lunch and decided to give this place a shot. When we walked in, there was two other tables and it was not busy at all. Still, it took awhile for the waitress to come to our table to get our order. Our family has food allergies but most restaurants we go to are accommodating. When the first person ordered with the order modifications (nothing demanding) the waitress was taken aback and rude and said "Well, I can check if they can do that" and then suggested she order a different item of the menu. Really? Usually when I have gone to a restaurant, they bend over backwards to accommodate a "special" situation even as far as to make the original dish as close as possible to the allergen free dish. Some places even *gasp* have a special menu! Not only was the waitress rude about taking our orders but our orders weren't even right when they came out. She was too lazy to write down the modifications and gave us the original suggestion she told the first person. Aside from being rude about order modifications, she couldn't remember our drink orders and it took an HOUR to get our food for LUNCH. Then again, it was pretty busy rush period with the two other tables finishing up and all.. If i could give no stars, I would. I just think with this day in age with as much knowledge as there is on food allergies/intolerances that restaurants need to be on top of their game with being sensitive to this issue. Especially since so many people have them. And even if you don't know a lot about them, it is completely unnecessary to treat a customer like that. read more

This review is for their Friday fish fry which we tried a few days ago. Dining area is in a bar and very few tables available. Mostly hightops and bar seating. We had a high top which was fine for us. Choice of lake perch or walleye with either fries or potato pancakes. So we tried one of each. Lightly breaded perch were very good. Fries were seasoned and crispy. Potato pancakes were not that crispy but tasty and well seasoned. Came with coleslaw and applesauce, a nice touch. Service was good. Not sure how long the fish special will last, but well worth it in my opinion. read more

We went to dinner on a Tuesday night to celebrate birthdays. We are outside on the deck since it was a beautiful evening. Our waitress was friendly and made sure our drinks were refilled. I heard the burgers were real good, so I ordered one. Ingredients were fresh and the burger was juicy. Good size too. I took off a star for not having a dessert menu. Food was good. But our waitress rushed us out the door. Her final words to us were " are you done with your waters?" It was only 6:45.

We went there this Easter for brunch. They are now run by the Park District and had the first brunch in a very long time this year. They used to serve brunch in a very nice room inside that had a stone fireplace and nice tables and chairs. Not so this year, it was in a tent outside and had no signage inside letting us know this so we had too look around. It was very chilly at 10:30 in the morning and we were fighting off bugs. The tables were patio furniture with table cloths over them and the chairs were folding chairs. Due to the temperature by the time you got back to your table and started too eat the food was mostly cold. Most of the food was very bland and lacked any kind of seasoning. They were serving Mimosa's in the same plastic cup as the orange juice at tables with kids. Have we learned nothing from what's been in the news of kids being "accidentally" served alcohol? Perhaps the restaurant inside is better, but for 25 $/adults 12 $/kids I didn't like eating cold food in a tent on patio furniture. read more

On the 20th of May a group of friends went to a late lunch here. I ordered chicken salad sandwiches for myself n my spouse at 2:30pm we did not get our food until after 3:18pm. There was one waitress for two large tables of customers with at least 12 people at the table, another two tables of six and another table of atleast eight. What kind of a manager does that to a server!?! Not a very good one! Everyone had gotten their food except us and the table behind us. They table behind us got to the restaurant after us AND got their food BEFORE us. Didn't get our food til I complained twice or we'd probably still be waiting for our food!!! Ask to speak to the manager as I felt we waited way to long for chicken salad. The manager came to our table with an arrogant attitude n was NOT about to do anything except a flip "I'm sorry." I in return I said "That's it!?!" N he said "Yes, I can't compensate u, I wouldn't make any money." I said "ok" n he kept talking n I quit listening! I WILL NEZvER EVER GO BACK, EVER! I will tell everyone I know how unprofessional, discourteous, arrogant this guy was. Not sure his name was a tall skinny "I'm all that type!" Never ever again!!! A big thanks is in order to restaurant.com for having Pearce's as one of their restaurants because if it wasn't for getting a 25 dollar certificate for less than 5 dollars we would have never gone out to Pearce's. Within a months time my mother and I have been there twice and both times were an experience worth writing a positive review over. The first time was great, great weather (100 degrees), great service, great eye candy (golfers...ow.ow.) and great food. We chose to sit outside but because it was so incredibly hot we were the only ones sitting on the deck, which overlooks the beautiful golf course. We ordered BBQ pineapple salmon along with the skirt steak...There wasn't much conversation after our food came out...Amazing..nom. nom. The second trip out was just as good. We decided to introduce Pearce's to another family member...my Nana. My mother and Nana both ordered the coconut crusted tilapia while I ordered once again, the bbq pineapple salmon and again, it was delicious. Terrible service on a Friday night. I was excited to get out with my husband & young son to catch a band starting at 7:30. We got there before 6:30! There were tables clearing on the patio, so I figured we could score one. All the staff seemed frazzled. I was told by one waitress there was actually 4 people waiting in front of us for the patio seating, yet no one else appeared in front of us at that time! We waited 20 mins while 3 tables sat empty and unfilled. Even other guests were telling us they felt bad & we should just sit down! When I casually asked the server about the empty tables and who was in front of us, and if we were still 5th in line, she acted unsure and literally shrugged her shoulders at me! Like she didn't know, or care!! Eventually I got irritated enough to complain, then we were given one of the empty tables after 20+ mins! By that time they seated us out of view for the band and another waiting table (after us) got better seats. I was upset enough to decide not to eat there, so we left. But the time before that, we tried it, I wasn't overly pleased anyways. I was going mainly for a fun night out with live music & they ruined that for me! read more

Short staffed. Waited ten minutes for Someone to come to our table to give us water and i had to flag someone down for ketchup. They seemed extremely unorganized and my waitress was frazzled. I wish I could tell you how the food was. Unfortunately, we were never served. After a day of disasters ending with no dinner, I checked numerous websites looking for a food place that was open at 9pm on a Saturday night. Pearce's website said that they were open until 11pm, and the kitchen closed an hour before. Using deft mathematical calculations, I determined that at 9pm they would still be serving dinner. Hurray! Weary and bedraggled, we arrived at 9:07pm. And waited. There were three customers at the bar, and two outdoor tables of 4 people each. Using those handy math skills once more, that meant there were 11 customers besides us. Handling these customers were four or five staff that looked extremely busy, which seemed strange considering that there was one staff for every 2.2 customers or two servers per table besides the bar (ah, those math skills!). We waited for quite a while until we finally caught someone and asked if we could go ahead and seat ourselves, and they said yes, but to let them know where we were sitting. We chose a nice table outside -- I can't fault them for the mosquitoes, because it had rained for the last two days. And once again we waited. Finally someone noticed us and asked if anyone had taken our drink order. When we said no, they promised to send someone. A little bit later, someone did arrive and took our drink order. When we starvingly said we were ready to order our food also, we were told that the kitchen was only serving appetizers now. At that point we gave up and politely but hungrily hopped in the car and found someplace else to eat. I am giving two stars instead of one because we had gone here once before about a year ago and enjoyed a nice, simple light lunch. If I recall correctly, at that time there was one waitress handling about five or six tables, and we didn't have a problem at all. I don't think we'll try this place again. read more
