SubKO just opened on December 20th in Lisle. It's located in the same spot that Shawarmati used to be in. SubKO offers gourmet sub sandwiches, fries, cheesecake, and lemonade. Oh, and it's halal. It was packed when I went there (a couple days after opening), and it's very small inside. If you plan to go to SubKO, keep in mind that you might have to take it to go. The place was well-lit and service was friendly. Pricing was a bit on the higher side, but it's meant to be a gourmet sandwich shop. I ordered the KO Philly Sub with a side of seasoned fries. The sandwich was very tasty, but it wasn't terribly different from Philly cheesesteaks I've had from other places. However, I was glad that the bread wasn't greasy. The fries, unfortunately, were soggy and some fries were undercooked; they needed a tad more time in the fryer. Overall, glad to have another halal spot in the suburbs. I'm looking forward to trying their meatball sub and chicken parm sub.

I was coming home from work and my son mentioned this place so I asked him what he wanted. I ordered two philly chesse steaks no extras. I thought a little pricey but let's see I don't mind spending the money if it's good. When opened the bag I said too myself alright. Then I got home now you see what I saw when Iopened it. It was good but a little small. Now you no the rest story.

    Garlic truffle fries

The food was very amazing and I really enjoyed their truffle fries and garlic sauce! The workers moved quickly and did very well.

Spicy vodka chicken parm, fries, and chipotle aioli

The spicy chicken parm was incredible - might be the best I've ever had. Garlic aioli and chipotle aiolis were on point too. Will 100% be back asap.

Amazing gyros! The gyros tastes awesome. We love their mozzarella sticks, French fries, and gyros.read more

Wow! This place REALLY surprised us…read more We were looking for something different from the usual burgers, pizza, and tacos routine after my girlfriend mentioned she'd been craving gyros. Naturally, I started searching for places nearby, and while there was no shortage of options, Nicky's immediately stood out. Their photos looked incredibly well presented, with gyro meat piled high and genuinely generous portions. When we arrived just before 7 PM, the parking lot was nearly full, and after our experience, I can absolutely see why. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They could tell it was our first visit and happily walked us through the menu, answering every question with genuine warmth and patience. The food itself was excellent. Everything came out piping hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The gyro meat was tender without being overly fatty or dry. The hand-cut fries were especially impressive, perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. The onion rings and mozzarella sticks were equally well executed. The real showstopper, though, was the imported Greek baklava. I've had baklava from many different regions and styles over the years, and this was easily some of the best I've ever had. Rich, syrupy, incredibly flavorful, with a heavier note of cinnamon layered throughout that made it truly stand out. The menu is expansive, covering all the classic greasy spoon favorites you'd hope for, and the restaurant itself was clean, bright, and bustling with people clearly enjoying themselves. Near the end of our meal, the same staff member who helped us at the counter came by to check on us and ask if we needed anything else, which was a really nice touch. She also mentioned this is the original family-owned location, and honestly, that care and pride really shows. Overall, a fantastic first experience, and we're very glad we decided to stop in. We'll definitely be back soon to try more of the menu.

The sun stretched across the pavement like it had personally returned to remind everyone what happiness felt like. The air was crisp, cinematic almost. I had just finished demolishing a bowl at Chipotle when, in the distance, glowing like a beacon of hope to hungry travelers, I spotted the legendary Scooby's sign. Curiosity took over immediately. I wandered into the establishment in search of Scooby snacks. The atmosphere was charming, nostalgic, and wonderfully chaotic in the best way possible. I asked for a paper menu and a few recommendations for the next time I stopped by. Little did I know destiny would return me there in less than 24 hours. The previous night had been a reckless adventure through the city. Loud music, shots, questionable decisions, the usual. The next morning I awoke slightly dehydrated but not hungover because, quite frankly, I am built different. Starving and operating purely on instinct, I prayed Scooby's would be open. Miraculously, it was. As I approached the restaurant, I could hear the passionate echo of a woman enthusiastically yelling into a microphone at what appeared to be a nearby high school graduation ceremony. I stepped inside and was greeted by a smile that honestly made it difficult to remember I came there for food. I asked for a recommendation and was directed toward the gyro meal with jalapeños on the side. What arrived before me was not merely a gyro. It was a colossal, magnificent monument to human achievement. The thing was enormous. Overflowing with flavor, perfectly seasoned meat, fresh toppings, warm pita, and enough character to deserve its own Netflix special. I have eaten gyros from many places, including spots run by Greeks themselves, and somehow this glorious beast stood above them all. The interior of the restaurant felt oddly familiar, almost like a real-life Krusty Krab tucked away in the suburbs. Naturally, I felt spiritually obligated to order what could only be described as a Krabby Patty equivalent. The hamburger arrived beautifully grilled, juicy, smoky, and crafted with the kind of precision reserved for aircraft engineering. Scooby's is not just a restaurant. It is an experience. A beautiful fever dream fueled by hunger, nostalgia, jalapeños, and exceptional customer service.

Great food and fast service. Always a great spot to walk to with the kids to get some food.read more
