    Delicious wagyu strip steak.
    Mark K.

The best meat market in the area. Everything is outstanding. Most recently I picked up a wagyu NY strip steak. Pricey. Most definitely. Worth it? Absolutely!! What a beautiful piece of meat. Cooked medium rare it was like eating butter. Seriously. Tender, melt in your mouth. And the flavor. Splurge. Picture doesn't do it justice.

    Reams in downtown Elburn...

Warmer weather is upon us and if you and your significant other is looking for a destination for a sojourn into the country take a drive to Elburn, Illinois. Reams meat market is a small country market that has been discovered by the masses. Situated on Route 47 in the heart of the downtown district, it's a little store that became more popular to the point of moving several doors down from the original location to just south of the tracks into a much bigger store. For me my highlight is the homemade ham salad. If you like ham salad this is where the buck stops. Pork steaks custom cut for me are almost 2 inches thick just wonderful grilled fried or cooked in the air fryer. Ribeye steaks you say? They will melt in your mouth. Homemade chicken Kyiv is absolutely marvelous. So call ahead for custom cuts. The butcher shop closes early so they have time to clean up. Call the store for hours of operations. I love this place. Quality and fair prices will bring you back al

Have heard about Ream's for years now but was never able to make it out so I was happily surprised to come across it while taking the scenic route home from DeKalb this past weekend. Although the prices are definitely a step up from regular grocery store butchers I can see how the quality of the products and especially meat being offered justifies the expense. Even the ready made sandwiches in the deli case looked really good. The jerky in particular is a must try if you're a fan. We got the Bloody Mary, Biltong and Spicy and they all were delicious. You get the real sense that you're in a specialty grocer while walking around Reams. While you will find a few everyday options and brands that are available in pretty much any other store it's the large selection of in-house prepared frozen and fresh food options as well as items such as candies and pastries from third-party vendors that you'll probably be more drawn towards. The workers are friendly and efficient which is nice considering just how busy the store was and it is also worth noting that the interior is noticeably clean and well taken care of despite the heavy traffic.

This immaculately clean butcher shop offers an extensive selection of meats, freshly baked bread, a wide assortment of cheeses, flavorful sauces, pickled delicacies & some store brand merch. We are regular customers primarily because of their diverse range of bacon, beef jerky& succulent ribeye steak. Their prices are within acceptable range. The products are consistently fresh & exceptionally well-seasoned. Staff members are consistently courteous and helpful.

I could go on for days. One of the best meat markets in the Chicago area. Outstanding cuts of beef, top shelf deli sandwiches, vacuum packed ground beef, and a marinated tri-tip that my kids love. The hidden gem of Elburn.

Well... finally we made it to Ream's and, even though is a good market with a great variety of deli meats and other items, homemade quiches, and an impressive butcher area, we were disappointed because they do not carry grass fed beef. We left disheartened and stopped by the Wheaton Meat Company for our regular prime cut bone-in ribeye and top sirloin.

The quality of the meats are second to none. If I want the very best steaks, lunch meats or sausages I make a trip to Reams.

Picked up a sandwich - it was $10 - bread was hard - barely any condiments on - totally not worth $10! Sticking to just sticks there

They also have pork but I didn't order any. They're very friendly and easy to buy from. Just call first to make an appointment and drive out to the ranch. Most meat is sold by the pound. When I got home I cut the frozen sirloin into 3-4oz pieces and seared in a cast iron skillet (which I think is a more pure way to cook a steak, avoiding any extra flavors which are imparted from cooking over fire). The steak was extremely flavorful. I also minced a piece to have as traditional steak tartare (see picture above). The beef flavor was bright and full -- and the color was amazing. From the Q7 Ranch website: "Quarter Circle Seven Ranch is an Illinois family owned and operated all natural, grass fed beef cattle ranch based in Marengo, Illinois. Blessed with an abundance of natural vegetation and water; our ranches provide over 400 acres of native grass pastures in Marengo, Poplar Grove and Virginia, Illinois with our home pasture being only 58 miles northwest of the Chicago loop. Our husbandry and pasture management practices meet all of the All Natural/Grass Fed requirements that our clients want...locally produced and locally processed. No growth hormone implants or additives. No fed antibiotics. No herbicides applied to our pastures. No pesticides applied to the cattle. Plenty of natural grasses, shade and clean flowing water. Our processing, packaging and pricing is intended to allow for the maximum in client choice. You can purchase one steak, one whole beef or any amount in between or split a purchase with family or friends. We believe that buying locally leaves a smaller carbon footprint by saving energy and therefore should cost less. Our prices are market based, applying discounts of 10% to 33% to the prices of the largest internet based providers. Our mission is to provide Chicagoland families a high quality, locally produced, and affordable choice in grass fed beef. Living "Green" is critical. It is also inconvenient when compared with a trip to the local supermarket. We try to help with that by offering delivery service to your home or business. Although, we have more fun when you visit the ranch to pick up your order and take a look around."

We have also purchased some of their Beef at the Butcher and the Larder and love it. It is nice to have a free range grass fed alternative to the regular store beef.
