Mayneland has been in business for generations. A small local business who gives so much to the community. Their produce is minimally treated and picked fresh and ripe every day. It's not picked "under ripened" and then driven across America in a gas guzzling semi. And best of all, they donate the unsold produce at the end of each business day to "Loaves and Fishes"! Why wouldn't you want to support a local business who does so much for our community? Bring cash or check. Actually, just bring your checkbook; you might see all of the produce and not want to have to keep it below your cash on hand. I am making vegetable soup tonight and every vegetable was still growing as of this morning! Knowing that brings a whole added level to the words "comfort food".

I have gone here for over 20 years, and during most visits I have not been treated well. The ladies have been unhelpful, or closed-mouthed when answering my questions, and just simply unfriendly. Perhaps they are just over-worked or tired. At least that's how I justified their off-handed treatment of me, and my continued patronage over the years. So I put up with a fleeting moment of mistreatment. But today, that same old bad attitude appeared after I asked a simple question during my visit, that could've been answered more directly & easily. I questioned myself why do I even bother, especially when their produce isn't superior to other places I can go, to get farm fresh produce. There are more farmer's markets around, such as McDonald's Farm at Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville. Maybe my visits were wrapped in (wannabe) nostalgia, or due to convenience of location. Whatever, today I hit the top of my tolerance for their rude-ish treatment. This decision should have been made after an earlier visit this summer when a cashier looked at me crazy because I did not leave an electronically-produced request for a tip. For what?? Standing there just doing your job ringing up an order??? And lastly, their produce isn't the tastiest, and is really overpriced in comparison to other places around. I guess I kind of felt sorry & wanted to support the place. But no more. I am finally done. Fed up and moving on. Mayneland Farm is no longer an option for me.

I like the convenient layout of the market where the vendors are pretty much in a couple rows and there are porta potties and plenty of parking close by. The vendors are local and reasonably priced and there were many good made to order vendors for coffee, baked goods, dog treats, and burgers too. It's a pet-friendly market too so it was a treat to see many beautiful, well-behaved dogs. I would love to return when I have more time to walk through the vendor tents.

There was a pierogis vendor, a taco or quesadilla vendor, and a bakery vendor. There's honey, soaps, (which are very monitoring and smell good) as well as very fresh breads and of course lots of veggie and fruit(apples in Fall) choices. I also like that there's a Tues and Sat with Tuesday obviously being less crowded. Usually parking can be found easily if you are not there at too peak of times and it's not too big or small that it feels crowded and takes forever to get in and out of, like some. As I said it's my favorite.

This booth was too hopping not to notice! They were not only whipping out amazing authentic British scones and real Italian roast coffee drinks, but they were passionate and so very genuinely kind. The farm stand is humble, ostensibly operated from a repurposed home, that now functions beautifully as a working farm and twice-weekly (Wed and Sat) market. The parking is limited, but this has never been an issue for me. I recommend ordering ahead, but you can definitely show up during market hours and get in and out with no issues. What can I say -- literally everything is good. The salad mix is fresh and crunchy -- delicious. The tomatoes are the best I've ever had -- if you're lucky enough to get a box of cherry tomatoes, whip up a fresh pasta sauce or add them to a salad. If you're looking to try something new, Josh's stand won't disappoint: he's experimenting with growing new berries, fruit, and vegetables. What I love most about Josh's stand is that he's always friendly and excited to share the fruits of his labor with customers. If I order ahead, my order is always ready to go -- packed up well and kept cool till I arrive. I'm so glad Back To Roots is part of Warrenville.
