The Family Pack was priced fairly. $34 for 1lb. Of pulled pork. Large coleslaw,Large MAC & cheese,4 buns with sauce. The pulled pork was very dry and was like warm at best. Did not taste any smoke or grill on the pork. Sauce was decent but not traditional,...more like a North Carolina mustard sauce. Macaroni and cheese was so so...coleslaw was swimming in juice, I ain't making this up. Had not been here in years, food was great back then. This was one of the best smokehouses around. They then sold a couple of years ago. Usually when someone's sells it goes down, but this went from a cramped space with styrofoam plates and plastic forks to a place that knocked out a wall and has more seating. The food is just as good, but now with real silverware and trays to eat on. The staff is friendly and the food is great. They are one of the best smokehouses around. Still have pride and care about their food, but also updated. Great place that's hidden. read more

I live 20 minutes from this location. This is the best barbecue in Chicago in my opinion. I lived in Texas for half my life and Barbeque is an art down there. I got the pulled chicken- no bun with fries which were a mountain- see picture and drink special. I think it was $10.95 plus $4.95 but the chicken was moist and flavorful while the fries were yummy and you get a ton of fries on the side. Choice of BBQ sauce too. Mild and Hot. Both were good. This is in a little strip mall with some seating inside. Nothing fancy but oh the food !!! Tried the pulled pork moist and super yummy, chicken (which was a bit dry) and rib tips that were not too fatty and deliciously burnt. You also need to try the cucumber salad. Oh my goodness it is so good !! Coleslaw was pretty tasty with a hint of what I thought tasted like marshmallow. Only side that I was not overly impressed with was the red potato salad. It was good. Just not as good as the other two that I tried. And to top it all off fresh brewed iced tea !! The regular bbq sauce is delish and the hot is well kinda hot. You have to try this place. My friend and I decided to order for delivery while trying some beer at a local brewery. We decided on the 3 meat sampler with pulled chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. Our favorite was the pulled chicken. I'm not sure if it was due to the delivery, but the pork was a little dry. It came with 2 sides. We got so many fries with the order. We also tried the green beans that were great. We decided to add on some corn bread which was also delicious. The sauce was on the side and it was a little sweet. This is one of my current favorite BBQ places in Illinois. The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches are excellent. Sausages have a great flavor to them as well. So 2025 is here and new beginning right all is in the past right? So here I am sent for BBQ BabyBack my choice. I remember that I was not at all satisfied with my last visit. So, Sorry to say that nothing has changed. I ordered brisket combo X2 sides. Brisket was so dry very disappointed the amount seemed less than my many visits in the last 20 years. Coleslaw was off not as sweet very pasty texture the beans have a new taste no smoke or very little brisket if any it had a red color to it maybe a new seasoning to compensate for lack brisket. Very disappointed with my order. My wife ordered mild links and brisket and her portion of brisket was on the lean side again very dry links were satisfactory. When the cashier totaled everything up it came out to $35 and change. When he totaled it up after the computer asked for a tip my wife declined and it still tacked on a 20% tip my wife asked why this happened and cashier said that it does because of a default in settings. This is not a honest practice. Our total came out to $42 and change for two meals! This my friends is my last visit to what I had once believed to be the best bbq spot in will county. read more

This has been my favorite rib place for years. I live an hour away, so I'm not here often. But whenever I'm on I-55 and passing exit 257 during business hours, I have to stop for ribs and fries. My criteria for a great rib place includes the ribs, the sauce, and the fries...and the value. I was there 2-days ago, and I think some things changed in subtle ways. It was great, but my memory of the sauce was it used to be more flavorful and the ribs had more fat trimmed off and the meat had more texture (not falling off the bone with no effort). Fries remained great. As with everything 'food', it got pricier. They're at the threshold of my personal price tolerance for a slab, 2-sides, and a drink, meaning I'm not complaining, yet. I will continue to go there every time I'm in the area. But they're now tied with what used to be my 2nd place in the 'City' where I live. I'll now call them my "top 2", with an asterisk. If you've never tried them, I'd still recommend that you try them. They're still very good. read more

Very disappointed in this establishment. We ordered chicken, brisket, and pork. The chicken and the pork were fine, but the brisket was not slow cooked. That sucker was boiled til tender and then finished off on the smoker. You can tell despite there being a nice black bark to disguise it. We paid extra for brisket, and it's not cheap. Do better. The food was exceptional! My son just moved to Plainfield so we picked up food for lunch. BRISKET!!!! PULLED PORK!!!! Let's not even talk about how many different side choices! Used to come here years ago. Stopped coming when they changed the bbq sauce. We were in the area and decided to stop back in. Pulled pork was still good. Sauce was better this time. Cucumber salad was really good. Ordered chicken tenders because our kids don't eat bbq. They couldn't cook them. They did and they were burnt. Said they would put another order in and cook it in less time. Still was burnt. They had mentioned that they were new style chicken tenders and that's how they were cooking. Our kids were starving. Just told them to give us the sides we ordered and refund us accordingly. Mac n cheese was just okay, my son didn't really eat it. My kids ate some fries and then we headed to the nearest Chick-Fil-A. While I understand this is a bbq place, they did have chicken tenders on the menu which was why we went there anyways, since we could feed our kids as well. Kinda disappointed in that. They did partially refund us $10. Being in the service industry for many years, they should've refunded us for both orders of chicken tenders fully, in my opinion. Would we go here again? Probably not. Would we recommend this place? Only if you're ordering bbq and don't have picky kids...so maybe not a fully kid/family friendly restaurant to go to. Definitely recommend this spot if you are in the mood for some good smoked Ribs. We love the flavor of the ribs and their sauces to go with are amazing. They have a mild and Spicy sauce as well. We personally get both and mix it up. The ribs have a lot of meat compare to other places I have gone to. Their spicy Hot link is way too good! Spicy that's for sure. Now only negative thing about this place, I have to say their sides are not that great. They are pretty dry tbh. So we stop getting them. But we still go for the ribs, we like them a lot! read more

Paid $92.00, and not even a thank you. Never again. This place is history. My favorite BBQ joint, for many many years, even going back to their previous (albeit farther away) location. This time, I placed my order online. And although it seemed much more expensive than what I paid in the past, that's happening everywhere these days (we can thank Brandon for that). I even threw in a 15% tip. Way too much for carryout, which should be 0% IMHO, but I was in a good mood (it was Friday and I was soon to have ribs from my favorite BBQ joint). But when I got there, there were 3 guys behind the counter. One at the register, and 2 further down near the food. I told the register guy that I was there for a pre-pay pickup and gave my name. He nodded to the other two, who pushed my two bags forward without a word. They seemed creepy. It seemed something like how a drug deal might go down (though I have no experience with that). No smile, no "Thank you," no "Have a good day." I used to work at a restaurant and ALWAYS said thank you. And if anybody would have tipped me 15% for a carryout (of course, that never happened, but I'm going back 45 years), I'd have even thrown in a polite "sir" and a genuine smile. So been coming to this location since 2001. It was by far my favorite BBQ and I would compare all other competitors to here. Fast forward and haven't been here in 5 plus years. Extremely extremely disappointed. Let's start with price: definitely went up but that's expected, but what I didn't expect is the original smoking deal came with two sides. Now you must pay for each side. Kind of bogus but I get it. Pulled pork sandwich was on the small side and honestly a little dry and underwhelming smoke flavor. I got the Mac and cheese for one of my sides and it was AWFUL. Tasted like complete MUSH. I honestly would of rather givin this visit a 1 star review but for nostalgic purposes I went with a 2. Consistently good BBQ. The beef brisket is tender and juicy. The coleslaw is weird to me. It is so sweet it tastes like marshmallows, hard to describe. The pork and sausage is really good along with the mac & cheese. What also makes this place is the BBQ sauce. Not vinegary. Just tasty! The guys working here are super friendly and quick service. We grabbed lunch today (Saturday) to go after the lunch rush. I've never been there & my bf hadn't been there in 13 yrs or so. We read recent reviews & figured we'd get something smaller to try & see for ourselves. It was fairly quick to get our food, so can't speak on busier times. It smelled so good when we walked in as rockabilly music played overhead. The young man who took our order was friendly. I got a small brisket sandwich & my bf got a large pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides. Our sandwiches were delicious. Good amount of meat, very flavorful. The buns were so soft & tasty as well. They give you sauce of choice for each sandwich. Hot/spicy bbq or regular mild sauce. Both great. There's also self serve canisters of onions, jalapeños & pickles where you can add them to your sandwiches or food if you like on the side. My bf's pinto beans were okay, he probably wouldn't get them again. He said he used to get them from there long ago & they were just pinto beans & pulled pork with some seasonings so they used to be delicious. Now they mix in chunks of potato & they are somewhat watery & lack flavor. The cornbread was more like a sweet cake, the size of a small biscuit. He said it was tasty, but not very traditional cornbread, like he had expected. We were going to sit & eat, but most tables were taken & the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming. The food was good though & we would definitely get food to go with the sandwiches/meat again & try different sides to see if they were better. The rib tips were a tad dry but it was probably just part of the portion that selected for my plate. The fries were fresh, hand cut, and you get a generous amount. The coleslaw was fresh long cut cabbage, with a sweet creamy dressing. They have both hot and sweet bbq sauce. There is a spicy and sweet vinegar like sauce in there too. I will be passing through there for lunch once in a while so I plan on becoming a regular. Get in there and try it out! read more

Yeah, this place is good. Great tender and moist pulled pork sandwich, and the slab had a nice, smoky but not overbearing flavor and fall-off-the-bone tenderness. They have 3 sauces - mild, hot, and Carolina (light and vinegary), and I really liked the mild sauce. Their meats are served sans the sauce, so you add on more or less at your preference, and mine was with a fair amount of the mild sauce. The mac n cheese was ok, but not as rich as you might find at other good rib places. The only real draw back, besides the kinda out of the way location, is that as the nice BBQ smell pervades the place, you also leave with all your clothes smelling the same way unless you choose to eat outside of this corner shop and staring at the parking lot. This is a very casual and laid back place. The patrons we saw reminded me of those I see in a KFC - when there, they are amongst the happiest people in the world because they know what they like, and they're not caring what you think. Same here - the customers know there's good BBQ here and they're seriously enjoying it. So, despite a few of the little negatives, I've got to go with 5 stars for what matters here and that's the BBQ. read more

What happened to this place?? It used to be our favorite place for pulled pork--for years. We hadn't been there for a while, and ordered take-out over the weekend. What a disappointment! The pork sandwich was generously portioned, but the meat was dry and flavorless. No seasoning, no crispy "bark" to be found, no smoke. I was just a large lump of flavorless meat. It's as if they just don't care anymore. I know that I don't care to go there again. Wore a mask in, and the employees did the same. The customers? Well, no social distancing slills there, as some guy was repeatedly up my ass. Sauce was boss and had some kick. Again, at my house , heat is king. Pulled pork, and pulled chicken were decent, not great. Could have used slight moisture but the sauce cured that. Ribs tips were excellent. I should have traded with my son as he ordered that. The beef brisket was tasty, but lacking something. As for the sides? Mixed bag here. Mac & cheese was good but didnt blow us away. Pinto beans good. The coleslaw was completely disappointing and bland, ( mayo anyone?) and the cucumber salad? Dont know if the cucumbers were bad, or they had something weird for a spice additive but they were totally inedible. Spent over $50 for three- two meat platters and a pulled pork sandwich. That felt kind of high. Id like to come back and do the ribs. Everything is dry rub so, you need a kick ass sauce for those who feel its too dry. Which they pull off. I do love their sauce.
