Don't book here for Easter brunch. We had a reservation and still weren't seated until an hour and ten minutes later. We arrived on time, only to find at least 50 people crammed into the lobby with barely any room to move. When we finally made it to check-in, the hostess casually mentioned they were running 30 minutes behind. We continued checking in and were repeatedly told we were "close," which clearly wasn't the case. I really wish they had been upfront about the actual wait time, we would have left instead of standing there for over an hour. For a restaurant that's been around this long, it's disappointing to see this level of overbooking and lack of organization, especially for a major holiday where people don't have many other options for food due to many other places being closed. read more

I've known about this place for years but just tried it the other day. I've been missing out! First, it is such a beautiful setting on the golf course. The tavern itself is a bit dark but a lovely place. The service was top notch and we were well served. And the food? Amazing! A great menu with unique options. All thoughtfully curated and made fresh. Great soups selections too. Cocktails were great. They also have an excellent scotch selection worth checking out. Time to update! My parents and I used to come here rather often when they lived nearby and I missed McWethy's, so when my boyfriend and I had an errand to run in Romeoville I suggested we eat dinner here. Happy to say it's still as good as it used to be! Everything we ate (including pretzels nuggets with pimento cheese, steak potato soup, hot bacon caprese salad and buffalo chicken sandwich) were delicious! Our servers (one was training) were friendly and on the ball. The only slight negative I can mention was that the water in both our glasses tasted rather soapy to me; maybe the glasses weren't fully rinsed? We didn't have a reservation, so there was a brief wait, but it wasn't bad, and the hostesses were working hard to figure out when the tables would turn over and where to put people next. They asked if we preferred a high top or if we wanted to be seated in "the nook," a cozy corner of booths off the bar area; high tops are difficult with my cane so we opted for the nook, which was a good choice. I have always loved the ambiance of this restaurant, with windows overlooking the golf course (if you're here at sunset or "the blue hour" it's particularly nice), pressed tin ceilings and dark wood. We stopped in for dinner and had no expectations. The waitress was very nice and stopped often at our table. The drink and beer list was lengthy and one of the fall drink specials sounded tasty. As you read in the past, I RAVE about this joint!! I'm tellin ya, Top Notch!! But my last visit I ordered the Reuben and at best it was fair. I did not return it, but will never order it again. I should have asked if pastrami or corned beef is used which is very important. Corned beef can be fatty and if not cut properly will be tough and chewy leaving you to fight with every bite. And this was just the case. Otherwise, our server was Exceptional, the reason for my not returning my meal. We came at 11am before the lunch rush and it was very pleasant as I made a reservation last minute and the staff was very accommodating! Always a warm and friendly ambiance! We went once and had another server and let me tell you ,we said no hurry. After a bad experience here for my birthday 2 years ago. I decided to come back to celebrate my birthday here on yesterday; August 7, 2025. Everything was FANTASTIC. The food. The server, Allie was so attentive and extremely nice and gave us great recommendations. Assistant General Manager Jon made sure we were comfortable and didn't charge me for my meal. He apologized for my previous experience and made sure we were comfortable before he left. Assistant Manager Sara; stopped by our table to make sure we were satisfied with everything. The restaurant is part of a golf course and the ambiance here is really quite exceptional. I loved looking out on the greens through the large glass walled dining room. First the good notes on the food. I had the bees knees cocktail and really enjoyed their house made gin and honey simple syrup. Our table shared the garlic parm fries and I thought they were great. I ordered the king salmon and I have to say it was not my favorite. I did not like feta cheese with my fish as I didn't think it complimented the dish well. Overall I wasn't quite thrilled with it although it looked better than I thought it tasted. As far as service goes, our server was decent but lacked any sort of personality and I wasn't overly pleased with her attentiveness. For instance, they brought me the wrong soup (which I ate) but when I mentioned it to her, she did not say anything about the mistake. I might try McWethys again to see if anything else is as good as I hope it'll be, however, it might not be soon. read more

A hidden gem! Beautiful inside with a gorgeous view of the golf course. The server was very attentive and timed everything well. The food was delicious with generous portions. This may become one of our favorite restaurants. I am looking forward to trying other items in the menu. read more

My husband and I were in the area today, and we decided to stop here for lunch because of the high reviews. Saying we had a positive experience is an understatement, and we keep talking about how excited we are to drive back here again in the near future, even though it's a bit far from our house. When you park, the restaurant looks like one that would be in a historical small town. It's really pretty. Then, when you walk in, it's very dim-lit and has a big bar with a large dining room with multiple high windows semi-circling the whole room with a panoramic view of the golf course and beautiful water areas. The dining room also had gorgeous chandeliers in it. I have a picture attached! We were in awe by how great it was to be seated right next to the windows. We were able to watch a duck swimming in the large pond, and we even saw a bird diving into the water multiple times and coming up with fish in his beak to eat. Our service during our whole visit was spot-on. I don't remember her name, sadly, but our waitress was so attentive and sweet. She even gave us a water carafe since my husband drinks so much water. We wanted to save her trips to our table just for refills. My cocktail of choice was a sangria twist, and I want to come back even if it's just for this! It was the perfect mix of sweet and sour. I truly loved it! For food, my husband and I shared the cheese curds for an appetizer. The cheese inside was so gooey and stretchable, while the outside breading was flavorful and fluffy. I do wish more came in the order, but it ended up being the perfect amount with our entrées. For lunch, my husband and I both chose to order a "Pick 2" meal for $16, which comes with half a sandwich, chips, and a side to choose from. I ate the reuben and cream of chicken and rice soup as my side. The reuben was delicious, though it had a bit too much sauerkraut so I had to pull some off. It made the bread too soggy, and then my sandwich fell apart. However, it tasted amazing, regardless! AND THE SOUP! DELICIOUS! It had huge pieces of chicken and was so creamy and thick. It had a similar consistency as a chicken pot pie stew. As for my husband's order, he ordered the cheddar beef with the same soup I got. He really enjoyed it, and we both agreed that it was the perfect amount of food for lunch. The prices here aren't too bad for the quality and size, and there is plenty to choose from on the menu. Just an FYI, kids normally eat free! Overall, we can't wait to come back and try some different menu items! We also want to come in the summer so we can sit on the outdoor patio! read more

Booked my Easter brunch reservation THREE MONTHS in advance and after about 35 minutes past my reservation, I politely asked when my table would be ready and was given a response of "I don't know, maybe 30 minutes. We're trying our best." There was no apology and happily cancelled my reservation. Customers walking out stated " It's not worth the wait. Don't waste your time." Will never go back here ever again. Inspired by castles from Scotland... Loved the atmosphere... Our server was named Michelle. She was very nice and very helpful.. we ordered the macaroni and cheese. My opinion. Not a fan.. I can only tell you from what I ordered how I felt about it. The noodles were overcooked. Bringing out a more watery flavor from the macaroni and cheese we did order the tomato soup was more like marinara. I also had the bake french onion which I would give three and a half stars. Longhorn beat out this French onion. I think one of the best friends onion soups I had was at wildfire.. They had half sandwiches and soup for 16 which was nice. We ordered the prime rib sandwich with chips which was delicious and I have to say the bread that the sandwich came on was absolutely amazing. Was fresh! Just went here with our friends last weekend.. it wasn't bad at all. Our server was nice and chill. The vibe was fine. Their spinach & artichoke dip was reallyyyy good. Three of us had a McWethy's burger. My burger was ok. The meat wasn't too flavorful but it wasn't all bad either. Our loud friend got us a free dessert for our anniversary which was very cool. How have u been living near this place for 20 years and never been inside?! We went specifically for the wings. They really are amazing. Love that you can get them grilled.
