Learned about The Corned Beef Hideout while at the dentist office Monday. Ed and I decided to drive to Romeoville today to try it out. This place is off the beaten path; I can only imagine the traffic it would have if it was on Weber Rd or I-59. Ed ordered the Jerk Corned Beef Sandwich and some sweet heat wings. This hidden Gem is amazing!!! I see why it's called "hideout". It's literally hidden away in a community. Seems like you are driving to a house but then you see it hidden in a community center. So glad we heard about this place and decided to try it out. Corned beef was so delicious!! We got 1 original with brown mustard and 1 jerk. Both on original bread. They had so much flavor and the jerk was spicy. But enjoyable to us. They were packed with meat. Can't wait to go back and try the other corned beef sandwiches. Definitely didn't disappoint. Excellent Sandwich. I had the two face jerk. I have to say it was a really good sandwich and the jerk sauce had a nice bit of heat. I also had a side of coleslaw with was reminiscent of KFC. great place for corned beef and pastrami, together it's called two faced. Comes with chips and a few slices of pickle in a little container. The sandwich , side of slaw and a bottle of water is just over $25.00 there is a lot of meat on it for the price. i did not try the Filberts line of soda they carry. Filberts is from the south side of chicago. I hear the root beer was very good. Trying to find this place is another matter, tucked back in like an apartment/duplex subdivision. Not many lunch places open right at noon, but this is one does.not a Minute before. Set in a clubhouse of an apartment complex, across from the gym and down from the mailroom. Parking is plentiful across the street. Food was decent, but the star of the show, the corned beef was very dry. Sandwich was well made and pulled high, but couldn't eat much through the dryness. The meat was very thin sliced and steamed which just drains meat like this. If you want a sandwich that will change your life, get the hand carved corned beef at Santa Anita racetrack. The pictures alone made us want to try this place. My husband got the Original with yellow mustard and I got the Jerk. We split them so we could try each. They were delicious! I know some people like thicker corned beef slices but thin and lean is my choice and they delivered. We were there late in the day so we missed out on the cole slaw. I found this place off Yelp. It's located in a building between a gym and post office. I wasn't planning on staying too long so I parked in that big lot to the left of the building. I took a picture of it. Prices for the sandwiches range from $13.50 - 16.50. That's without tax. The sandwiches come with a bag of chips and some pickles. I ordered a side of macaroni salad for $3 and a bottle of water for $1. It's about $20 for all of this. $22 after taxes. You can blame Romeoville and Illinois for the extra taxes. I believe it's like 1 lb of meat. It was convenient for me since I ate half before the gym and the other half afterwards along with the sides. The only downside is coming here if you're coming from afar due to all of those semi trucks slowing down traffic on the tollway. Other than that, I ordered the two faced - corned beef and pastrami. The meat was freshly sliced and prepared. It wasn't dry, very moist. The yellow mustard amplified the taste. There are plenty of seating inside and outside. Service was friendly. You have to fill out your order on a piece of paper then hand it to them. Next time, if I'm in the mood for a good pastrami sandwich I'll come back. I stopped by The Corned Beef Hideout today and am I ever happy I did! I ordered a turkey sandwich, a classic corned beef and a jerked corned beef sandwich. The sandwiches came with chips and pickle slices and we sided it up with cole slaw and macaroni salad. OMG! I have NEVER had a jerked corned beef sandwich but it will not be my last, and only from this location. The service was wonderful, the location is quaint, and the food is absolutely delicious. I walked in and requested a jerk corned beef. You order, then pay after you eat or when it's ready to take out. There was only 1 worker, maybe owner, that takes your order, prepares, and then cashes you out. Issue is, it took 30mins or more and I was on lunch. The sauce they use makes it jerk, a spicy mayo jerk sauce which im not a fan of mayo. I should've just ordered a regular with yellow mustard. It was just ok. I only ate half, gave the other half to my hubby. He didn't like it. I don't live out this way, so I wouldn't make the trek back. But I wish them much success! read more

Have put off trying this place after seeing all the great reviews but so sorry I did. Not salty or greasy at all & made fresh while you wait. I ordered the two faced which was enough meat for 2 sandwiches. Meat is super tender. Was eyeballing the Jerk but was concerned would be too spicy, will be definitely ordering that next time to try as I heard it is the best sandwich there. Beignets were not mine but took one to try from my sister & it was good, never had one before so I had nothing to compare it to.
