Sandwiched between a liquor store and a poster store, this joint is your typical late night diner. Any place that has a "Deep from our Fryer" section in their menu means business. (Fried mushrooms, cheese sticks, poppers, pizza puffs...) We ordered the turkey with mayo ($4.45). Didn't expect much but was surprised by a delicious sub on soft chewy Turano bread. They went a little heavy on the mayo, so make sure to tell them to take it easy. Staff here was incredibly friendly. When we ordered the fried mushrooms ($2.25) that comes with a side of ranch they gladly substituted marinara sauce for us. Then when I made a face after eating a shroom, one of the guys behind the counter asked if I wanted the ranch instead. I said no thanks, I just burned my mouth with the fried mushroom. read more

Power went out as soon as we ordered, it was horribly hot. They tired to tell me that my sandwich was warmed up in an oven that had no electricity. It was dirty too. Bread is fresh daily, meats are sliced constantly, veggies are prepped in the crisper and the oil is clean and hot in the fryer. Came here for the first time. The lady at the register had no personality. I ordered a king combo and and cheese fry(minus the hair). I took the fries to the counter and told her there was a hair and she grabbed them and tossed them. Didn't say a word! From the same batch of fries she gave me another order and tossed them on the counter. I will not be coming back here. Maybe next time the city needs to come out check up making sure the employees have their hair in a net vs hanging out of a hat. read more

I just ate there with my boyfriend and we had our baby asleep in the car seat with us. I don't know if the manager (possibly the owner?) got angry that we had the car seat on top of a table or something, because he was rude from the get go. Did not say hello or even make eye contact when we came in, he just acted annoyed that we stopped him doing whatever he was doing. From the table I heard him being extremely rude to my boyfriend who was ordering for us. So I don't think I'll go back there anytime soon. Each Submarine City I visit (other than the Joliet location) seems to be worse than the last. This one was no exception. The meat on the sub was minimal and the mayo tasted funny. What's worse, my Girlfriend ordered her sub "hot". When it didn't come that way, they just took the whole sub, lettuce, tomato, and all and shoved it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. mmmmmmm, wilted lettuce. Disgusting! read more
