My friends and I decided to reserve an igloo outside. The outside igloo dining experience was so fun! Each igloo had a different theme. We had the Christmas theme igloo. It was decorated super cute for Christmas and it was warm inside with the space heater. Our server was very attentive, prompt and friendly. The food came out quick, hot and tasty! We all ordered different drinks. I ordered the Cranbery Sangria and it was perfect. Definitely reccomend! For appetizers, we got the spinach and artichoke dip with chips and fried ravioli. Both appetizers were delicious! I liked them both so much and can't pick a favorite because they were equally satisfying my taste buds. For our main course, we ordered a traditional thin crust pepperoni pizza and a gluten free sausage pizza. Both pizzas had nice perfectly cooked crispy crust. The gluten free crust was just as good as the traditional crust. The pepperoni was flavorful and had a spicy kick to it, which I enjoyed. The sausage on the gluten free pizza tasted like it was homemade and fantastic! The sauce was a little sweet for my liking but not bad by any means. I just prefer less sweet pizza sauce on my pizza. I would definitely return again whether in their igloo dining in the winter or anytime through the year on their patio or inside. Highly reccomend! read more

We had a super disappointing experience here. We got the nachos and boneless wings. The nachos hardly had any toppings on them, it's a disgrace to even call them nachos. 90% of the chips had nothing on them and they gave us a big side of sour cream as if that would make up for the lack of other toppings. Oh, by the way, it took 40 minutes for them to bring these out....service was very slow. We also got the boneless wings and they were half breading, we honestly couldn't tell if there was any chicken in there. Would not recommend. This food was awful. read more

I like the ambiance and that it's dog friendly! We came for brunch and loved the fact they had someone playing a guitar. Instantly makes it more fun. Service was good. We were seated immediately and asked often if we had what we needed / wanted. In terms of food....I had the Italian sub and was kinda basic. I think because I had a sub at a local deli recently I was expecting more so perhaps that's on me. Maybe don't order a sub unless you're at a true deli haha. My nephew got the Mac and cheese....which I would go back and get and order as an app for the whole table haha. We all kept wanting to eat it. And it's a really large portion. We also ordered the pizza. I didn't try it but those that ordered it gobbled it down. We also got the mozzarella sticks and ravioli as an app and both were good. Can you dig it? Digs On Canal is one of the local restaurants in downtown Lemont. It has a casual rustic feel if you can say that. Has a lot of barbecue and brisket kind of stuff on the menu. This doesn't sound like it's vegetarian friendly and it's not, but there's a few things like drinks and salads. Awhile ago I checked it out with a female friend. It was pretty quiet even at that time. This was in the early evening on a weekend. A majority of the menu is meaty stuff such as brisket. It also has burgers as well as macaroni and cheese. The most unfortunate thing is that even the macaroni and cheese comes with meat on it. Hard to find anything plant based. There's sangria. It's $8 for a glass. This was made with red wine the last time. Food choices for us were poor. We got the Garden Salad. It's $4.95 for a small one. This has cucumbers, garlic croutons, romaine, and tomatoes. Entrees all were some kind of meat like beef and chicken. The macaroni and cheese even had meat so basically it was on everything, so this place hasn't caught up to some others around it. Good stuff for what we could eat. It wasn't much in this case but we liked it. The prices on many things are pretty good considering many places around here charge lots more than this. read more

Another update because I'm a glutton for punishment: Thought I would recommend Digs to my brother and his family to introduce them to the Lemont area. Big mistake. They went with the chicken egg rolls to start. I should have read the other reviews prior. No chicken to be found in any of the 6 mini egg rolls. So disappointing for them to experience that for the money. It took FOREVER for the food to come. When it did, I was so bummed. Whomever ordered tator tots(myself and my nephew) had a connected grease blob on our plates. I tried one and it was nasty. When our waitress came by and inquired how everything was I told her the tots were not good and could I PLEASE SEND THEM BACK AND RECEIVE A SIDE SALAD FOR THE ORIGINAL UPCHARGE OF $1 WITH MY MEAL. I then received romaine lettuce end chunks with two cucumber pieces, four croutons, and some tomatoes in a small bowl. Enh, it's a side salad. The problem I encountered was when the check came. Apparently the waitress was confused when I told her to put my two children on my check and so she added my brother's meal and drinks. This was cleared up, but I can tell you what was not: a $7 charge for a sad "side salad.". Since I was inside clearing up the check the owner Jennifer was inside and overheard. She loudly informed me she was the owner and that the side salad was the correct price. She said once I ordered the tots I gave up the ability to get my $1 upsell for a side salad. Whattttt?!?! Is that truly how this business operates? I then informed her I was asked by the waitress how our food was and reiterated the convo I had. She said that's not how it should work, but whatever. She would "allow" me to get away with this. However, since they had to throw the tots away it was like she gave two sides away for $1. Wtf? She then proceeded to loudly berate me in front of existing customers as well as staff running her mouth about how this transaction wasn't accurate and patrons only have the ability to get the $1 upcharge when placing the original order. At this time I shut my mouth since I was getting what I wanted, but really? As an owner this is how you want patrons to perceive you? This after my brother dropped $131 on his bill. So unprofessional and unwarranted. I have met the original owners before, I am assuming those are Jennifer's parents. The mother is a RN like myself and we have had interesting conversations on past visits. They are kind and caring. Jennifer is not. Long story short, if you do choose to visit, just order drinks on the patio. Jennifer does not deserve any of your hard earned money with an attitude like hers. I'm embarrassed I took my brother and his family there. I won't even touch up on their terrible experience as my interaction with Jennifer was what made such a lasting impression. read more

Probably go here an average of once every other month. Usually we are there in the summer time when we can sit in their large outdoor area that has concrete picnic tables. Very fun to stay out there in the nice weather. Artificial turf on the ground makes it especially pleasant and reduces the insects most likely. In the summer, the trains that race by are quite the show. Tonight we decided to go inside and dine. There are igloos out on the green area outside that can be reserved online. Definitely going to try that in the next month or two. The inside is fairly small but the food comes quickly and the menu is made for quick meals and fast turnover of tables. Cons Limited table seating inside About a seven out of 10 on the loudness scale Not really a con to me, but the menu isn't pages and pages. To me, it is smartly designed, but some may see it as limited. I do not. As we sat at one of the furthest-in tables, you can feel the cold air coming through the front door, but it wasn't too bad. Not sure if a breezeway would be a potential solution to help alleviate this. The signature drink was extremely heavy on ice that diluted its taste It may seem trivial, but the dollar off the signature cocktail was not reflected on the bill. This may not seem like a big deal, but business is all about paying attention to all the million little small things. That said, I'm really nitpicking on an overall great experience. Pros The staff greet you right away Once seated, the server comes at a perfect amount of time to take drink orders and ask about appetizers. We have had quite a variety on the menu over our visits that we have had here. The burger never disappoints me and I feel like I am extremely critical on burgers. The sautéed mushrooms are an upcharge, However, I felt the amount given was adequate for the charge of only $1.25. The barbecue was Smokey and good and the fries or cooked perfectly with a light coating. The tater tots were crispy And delicious. The chicken sandwich is a favorite. It is enormous and it is loaded with delicious cheese and came with a side of jalapeño ranch. Never had this sauce before and it is fantastic. Kudos. They have a rewards program, which is very generous, and much appreciated. One last comment on the menu. The family associated with this restaurant also owns a nearby pizza place and the pizza is on their menu and it looks and smells delicious. I have not had the pleasure of trying it yet but I plan to very soon. This place is owned by a clearly talented entrepreneur who has a terrific passion for not just food but the community. This is quickly becoming a favorite of people even in my community that is 25 or 30 minutes away. Parking is fairly easy around the area with just a short walk from one of the side streets if you can't nab a close spot. I'm going to state the obvious about the servers. They are all very much on the younger side. I think a lot of servers with more experience would be pleasantly surprised and impressed by how kind energetic and attentive they are. We went to Digs because we wanted some awesome Mac and cheese, we got there while it was pretty busy and were told we would have to wait about 20 minutes to be seated and we were totally fine with that, there was only 3 of us and I had my 2yr old. We waited and then were told we could pick a table outside, we picked our table and were given menus. We waited over a half hour and watched 5 other tables not only get their order taken but they also already got their food. I told one of the girls that we still haven't even met our waitress. After waiting another 15 minutes there were 2 lady's seated and immediately got their orders taken, so we decided to just leave. The whole time while we waited we watched multiple waitresses clean tables and look at us over and over again, no one once came to see if we needed anything or needed our orders taken. This is my first time at Dig's and I'm loving it! Right now it's decorated for Christmas and it feels very homey. The food is simple, good ol' fashioned comfort food with little updates. The Reuben sandwich is a panini and you get to choose from three different combinations of cheeses when you order the mac & cheese. I chose Alpine, which is a combination of Gruyère and white cheddar. I definitely want to try the mac & cheese made with beer cheese! There are several side sauces one can add to the beef and pork sliders, we chose dragon fire to add to the pork bbq sliders and my partner said it was a perfect addition. Finally, the coffee was the best cup I've had in a long while. It's not trying to be Starbuck's, it's just a great cup of coffee to finish the meal. Dig's isn't a fancy place. It's more like an old diner and that's what I like about it. Good food at a fair price. And, our waiter was kind and helpful, too! read more

It had no real liquid content. It appeared like dog food from a can looks like. One spice too heavy maybe coriander? Also tasted too much like tomato paste. I go to several chili cook offs and have entered some. This would fair very poorly. Service and drinks were good. read more

We've tried a few different things on the menu and it's similar quality to high school cafeteria food. My son got a pizza off the kids menu - it claims it's from Gels, but I swear it was a microwaved mini pizza. He ate it anyway. But he's 3. I had the mozz chix sandwich and it was so dry and flavorless you could barely eat it and the fries were super bland. When I walked by, the small indoor seating area was packed, so I took that as a good sign. We had reservations elsewhere but the menu was more varied at DIgs, so I cancelled the other place. Service was lousy. Took ten minutes for the drink order, and another five to deliver 2 bottled beers. We saw our server was working two other table, so we planned to order all at once - apps and mains. I had questions, but the server was already confused based on an earlier question, so I went with our second choices. Buffalo chicken eggs rolls were tasty - but mostly filler, not chicken. Our order came out after the table of 7, which arrived after our drinks (15 mins) had their drinks and their chicken egg rolls. I suspect their faster server grabbed our order. I had an underwhelming burger - no way it started at 1/2 lb as advertised - and too thin for it to be anything but well done, despite the question about how I wanted it done when I ordered. Wife had mac and cheese - really excited when the HUGE bowl arrived. What little white cheddar sauce was on it was thin and mostly water. We almost sent it back for lack of sauce before she dug around. The added buffalo chicken as a large, tasteless and sauceless thin chicken fillet. With more than 75% left in the bowl, we didn't take the leftovers - and rookie server mistake - he didn't even ask why she ate so little and wanted none to leave with us. So many nice restaurants and other options within a block or two, that not visiting Digs ever again won't be an issue.
