Honestly, I think four stars is generous. We had a big group and most of us enjoyed our food so four stars it is. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was very friendly. For the most part, she was very attentive as well. There was a point when she disappeared for a while whether on her break or something else I don't know. Nothing else was timely: the drinks, the food , the check, etc. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my meal. The minestrone soup was OK. It came in this tiny banquet hall sized cup. The overall flavor of the chicken cacciatore was good, but it was extremely salty. Half of my chicken was,sadly dry. Sauce can only make up for so much. The atmosphere was fine. It was typical of a contemporary Italian restaurant. It did not feel cramped as the ceilings were high and the tables were spread out well. Everything seemed to be in good working order and clean. Typically, this would be the type of place I would give a second chance. Unfortunately, the people who invited us to dinner did make the comment that this restaurant wasn't what it used to be. The food times and quality were not up to previous standards. So what do I say about this place? I think they do try but the kitchen is their Achilles heel. While I cannot in good conscience Recommend them; it might end up being worth giving them a try when they are a little less busy. read more

Arrived around 4pm on a Saturday. Parking is ample. You are greeted by the hostess when you walk in. The place had a funeral get together in the restaurant area. We had to be seated in the bar with only high-tops only available. A very noisy environment. You couldn't hear any music. Our waitress was promptly at our table. The menu is laid out very well. A very good selection of Italian foods with good prices for the portions. They serve secondary soft drinks. No Coke. You can't be number one if you don't serve number one. Melissa took our orders and the food was served promptly and hot. She was very attentive, polite and was on top of everything. 8 TV's. One not on. Two others with stagnant pictures. The place I clean. The washroom is big enough for the restaurant. Lacking in paper towels. Only cold water for washing your hands. Not good if you have dirty hands. Over all a 7. I have to say I was very satisfied with Papa Joe's. I ordered minestrone soup which was delicious. I ordered the chicken limone which comes with either a side salad or soup, I chose both . I got my soup first and I chose minestrone which I love. Next I got the side salad but it had a lot of Kalamata olives, which I don't like but I didn't know that they put it on the salad or otherwise I would have said not to put them in. Finally came my main food chicken limone, 2 chicken breast sautéed with mushrooms and onions with Marsala wine and angel hair pasta. It normally comes with linguini pasta but I don't care for linguini. The waitress was very nice and good. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

Took the family to dinner last night. Total of 4 people. Place was not busy however the service was so slow. We only got 1 drink refill because 1/2 the time we couldn't find the waitress. Good quality has gone down. The clams in the pasta were sour. Chicken tasted weird. It came with the best side salad I've had. The bread that's served with the dinner was warm and fresh. The beef sandwich my hubby got was great as well. We loved it! This was our first time here. Three of us met here for dinner on a Sunday night. We were seated promptly and Sydney took our drink and appetizer order right away. With our drinks, we shared an order of Calamari. It was decent. Had it been a bit crispier and a bit more drained, it would have been amazing. I had the Spaghetti with Mushroom Sauce and an Italian Sausage. Wow - this was a large dish and was really good. My wife had the Chicken Chantel. Also a huge meal and she said it was excellent. Our friend ordered the Pork Chops and said they were very tender. For the cost, level of service and food quality, this place gets 5 stars from me. We order Papa Joe's every year for Christmas Day catering We placed the order ahead of time and it delivers to us on Christmas Eve, then we put in oven on Christmas Day Quick and easy they still have all your info from the previous year, which makes the ordering process a breeze The delivery driver this year was super pleasant. Made sure we had everything we needed & left the cooking instructions for us. If you've never done their catering, I highly suggest it. (There was 6 of us) The portions for half pans feed about 10 to 12 people which is a lot more than normal catering options in my opinion. And you can't beat the price for the amount of food & the food is always phenomenal. I think we've been ordering here for about 5 years Run down of our order this year: Half pan of baked broccoli (feeds 10-12) Half pan of Vesuvio potatoes (feeds 10-12) Half pan of boneless Italian baked chicken (feeds 10-12) Half pan of stuffed shells (feeds 8-10). Our guests loved the food: sausage and peppers, breaded boneless chicken, fettuccine alfredo, Caesar salad, glazed carrots. Ordered a beef sandwich from here. I asked the young lady that answered the phone how big is your beef sandwich. She tells me it's a pretty good size one. So I order it. I asked for it dry and the juice on the side. I asked for 2 and I got 1. My husband opens up his sandwich and could not beleive the size of it. I literally got out a ruler and it was a 5 inch sandwich. A 5 inch sandwich. I paid 12.70 for that, unreal. Any place else in town you get a bigger sandwich. what a pleasant surprise. Papa Joe's is a great place for lunch or dinner. We stopped in for lunch today My wife had a sandwich that she really enjoyed and I had the ribeye steak sandwich. It was much better than I had expected. Done medium rare with onion,mushrooms and Provolone cheese. I have eaten here for years and gave a 5 star. Nope. Please is dead as a door nail. I can see why. The food was good. The night we were there it was bitter cold so my hubby ordered the minestrone soup, he said it was great, but he'd have liked a larger portion in the bowl. We also ordered the baked clams which were OK. I wanted to eat light so ordered a chopped Italian salad. When it arrived, it was enormous. Layered with delicious Italian meats and cheeses it was very flavorful! Since it was so large, (and we had ordered appetizers too) I had to take some home & the meats & cheeses provided me with 2 more meals! Since the pandemic, I've been interested in trying new restaurants this was suggested to me by a close friend. I ordered a Cobb salad and my friend ordered the chicken Limone. Was warmly greeted with "Papa Joes, hold". I held for 7 minutes. Some girl finally got on the phone and said "Hello, were no longer accepting orders tonight". She put me BACK ON HOLD and then said "I talked to the cook and we can still accept your order but cannot do any pizza or chicken" IS THIS A JOKE? I asked for her name one last time and SHE PUT ME ON HOLD AGAIN. Then some guy Jerry got on the phone who by the way has ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS and says they can now take my order but it can't be a stuffed pizza or chicken. I told him I just wanted their names to call back and speak to the owner as this was ridiculous. His reply was "ok, are you going to order?" I understand it was late but give me a break this was pathetic. I have lived in the area 7years and tried this place on a snowy day for delivery. They were quick and the food was amazing. It's hard to find calamari that is not rubbery. The pizza by far is better than any in Romeoville. Thin and crispy is my jam (in this case pie) and amazing sauce. I didn't take a pic because it was that good. Next time I'll try and remember!
