    Poke Bros - Romeoville

Got food pointing from this location the other day. Not necessarily from this location, but I'm…read morestarting find many other reviews from various other locations regarding food poisoning. It seems this chain needs to have better procedures for food safety. My guess is because these places aren't super busy, the food like raw fish sits out for hours and isn't being replaced which is a high risk for food borne illness.

YOU CAN TUNA POKE (BUT YOU CAN'T TUNA PIANO)…read more The fishy hits just keep on coming at Poke Bros. On nights when my wife and I want something fresh and flavorful but aren't feeling sushi per se, we'll grab a poke bowl.  This location is the fourth one we've ordered pickup from, and though it's fine overall, Romeoville isn't the best of the bunch. Unless you opt for chicken ($11.25), bowls start at $12.75 for salmon/tuna/shrimp/squid salad and you can choose between regular or spicy proteins.  Of note is that Romeoville's prices are $0.75 MORE than any other location in the Chicago suburbs.  I have zero idea as to why. There's lots of ingredients & toppings to pick from (although not as many as Poke Burrito....just saying), including carrots, corn, cucumber, edamame, ginger, green onion, jalapeno, pineapple and tofu.  Avocado, seaweed salad, crab stick, and masago are a $1 upcharge. I'm bummed they wiped miso soup from the menu.  We would always get that along with our poke bowl, and suddenly it vanished without warning.  Poke Burrito, on the other hand, still has miso on the menu, along with ramen, gyoza, bulgogi, spring rolls, and bubble tea. Poke Bros' assortment of mochi (ice cream wrapped in rice dough) is substantial.  Each location has slightly different offerings, with most sharing at least 5-6 flavors.  You can get 2 for $4 or 3 for $5.50; I recommend espresso, toasted coconut, salted caramel, passion fruit, and cake batter. FYI, the Poke Bros mobile app is utterly useless--it does nothing, has no rewards system or any incentive to use it, really.  It exists merely to take up space on your phone.  If you have an internet connection, just order from their damn website. * TL;DR * I'm surprised the Romeoville Poke Bros charges higher prices than any others in the area (that seems distinctly Napervillian). So is an extra 75¢ the end of the world?  Heck no.  Does it bother me enough to go back to the Poke Bros on Route 59?  Perhaps, but what bothers me more is that miso soup is no longer available, not to mention the competition has better ingredients & sides to pick from. Poke Bros has tasty customizable rice bowls, a great variety of mochi, and a worthless app.
