I was very hesitant to try this place due to all the negative reviews. I finally tried this place since it's really close to home and I'm glad I did. I called in my order for a whole chicken (8 pieces) about 30 minutes in advance and picked it up on the way home from work during the work week. The restaurant wasn't full but they seemed busy fulfilling takeout orders. My order was ready and packaged up when I arrived. I was a little concerned my food would be getting cold, but it was surprisingly very warm/hot in the packaging when I got home. The grilled chicken is heavily marinated and tender. The flavor is similar/same as chicken shawarma or kebabs I've had at Mediterranean restaurants, but even more intense. It's very flavorful and a good healthier option than fried. I didn't have any sides, so I can't comment on that. Prices are a little expensive, but I'm assuming/hoping it's better quality. The restaurant was very clean and the employees were friendly. Parking lot is a little tight and small.

Food was delicious. The chicken was nicely roasted, but not dry. The potatoes were also very flavorful. The place was clean and the service was very friendly.

Great chicken, well grilled and sides are good as well. In business for a long time. Different flavor and type from common fried chicken.

Service is prompt and friendly…read more We ordered the sample platter which was plenty of food to split between three people and still have leftovers. YMMV depending on your party's appetite. Brisket - not the best I've had, but definitely good Pork Belly Burnt Ends - delicious! The sticky sweet sauce they come in is amazing. Pulled Pork - good Sausage link - meh Mac & Cheese - better than many places, but I'd probably try a different side next time Tater Tots - sooo good! Texas Twinkie - perfect flavor and jalapeno poppers and not usually my thing Pickles and pickled onions - so good! Pecan pie - took this home to eat later and it was one of the best pies I've ever had The BBQ sauce at a place can make it or break it. I didn't care for the vinegar based one, but their honey bbq sauce is delicious. I appreciated that they gave me a cup of it automatically when I asked for a to go container.

Been coming here since before they had fries on the menu. Last 2 times I've gone they've been out of ribs so I've had to substitute. So I've gotten the burnt ends and a brisket slider. The brisket is decent. Very tender. With the honey sauce it's quite good. The first time I got the burnt ends they were a little fatty to be expected but honestly delicious. But this most recent time I got them I'm talking almost 80% fat. I had a huge chunk of nothing but fat no meat to be seen. I was so unsatisfied I came here to write this review. I also don't like the 1 refill with my sodas before they start charging me for refills Matt's is one of the 3 good spots in the walkable area with barrel and vine and the Mexican spot being the other 2 good spots. Hoping the next time I can update this review for the better but highly disappointed tonight.

This place has gone through a number of makeovers over the years but it is decidedly a sports bar vibe where you enter the space and traditional restaurant in the back area. Overall a very casual and lively vibe. We waited about 15 minutes with a packed house and were seated in the restaurant portion in a very spacious booth. Our server was prompt, courteous, pleasant, and efficient--attentive but not overly so. The food was excellent with very ample portions at reasonable pricing with many options under $20. I will say they could skip the bread basket before your meal comes out and just put it into giving you a side with the sandwiches versus charging you $2 for each side added. That being said the food came out promptly, was warm, and very satisfying. Hopefully Chuck's keeps value for customers' hard earned buck in mind and they will continue to do well.

They also feature an extensive craft beer selection. I went with the seasonal Abita Bad Mother Shucker Stout, which was a fun nod to Mardi Gras and a solid stout choice for the occasion. For my entrée, I ordered the Mardi Gras Platter ($32.99). It included: * Choice of soup (I chose the seafood chowder) * Shrimp Creole * Jambalaya * Chicken Étouffée * Crawfish & Shrimp Monica * Broccoli The restaurant was busy, which is understandable for Fat Tuesday, but our food took quite a while to arrive. The soup was delivered at the same time as the platter. In my opinion, the soup should have come out first. Ironically, the seafood chowder ended up being the highlight of the meal--rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. Unfortunately, by the time I finished the soup and moved on to the platter, most of it was only room temperature. The items were layered and grouped together in a way that made it unclear what paired with what. The chicken was noticeably overcooked and lacked depth of flavor. It tasted as though Cajun seasoning had simply been sprinkled on top rather than developed into the dish. Overall, the platter lacked the bold, authentic Cajun flavor profile I was expecting. The Crawfish & Shrimp Monica was advertised as coming in a bowl but was served in what amounted to a cup-sized portion. The menu description listed Cajun Alfredo sauce, crawfish, crab, blackened shrimp, pasta, Parmesan cheese, and broccoli. After mixing in the Parmesan, I searched for the seafood components and found none--no visible crab, crawfish, or blackened shrimp in the pasta. I mentioned this to the bartender, who said they would bring some out to add in. A few minutes later, three Cajun shrimp were delivered. There was still no crab or crawfish. While the Alfredo sauce and pasta themselves were very good, the absence of the advertised proteins significantly hurt the dish. Had I ordered the Crawfish & Shrimp Monica on its own for $24.99 and received the same portion and lack of seafood, I would have been extremely disappointed. Overall, while the concept and menu sounded promising for Mardi Gras, the execution--especially at that price point--left a lot to be desired.

Firstly, if you go here, do not leave without trying the fried chicken - that's not debatable. Other items that make me come back is the chicken katsu, Sotteok Sotteok and Bao Buns. They also have a Korean hot dog that's pretty decent with the soy garlic sauce. My favorite go-to is the chicken katsu, it's not the absolute best I've had but it's very close and this a hard dish to find. Grilled meat not as good as fried meat here. Beef is kinda tasteless. Sotteok Sotteok is chewy rice cakes and sausage if you've never tried it, it's like $4 - give it ago. Bringing me to my next point, this place is super affordable. If you're unfamiliar with Korean food this is an awesome place to experiment and try new things. To elaborate on my complaints, I must start with service here is very hit or miss. More than half of my visits the employees seem clueless about their responsibilities and very rarely come to check if you need anything. The little robot is cool, but you can't ask it for a refill or napkins. All is kind of funny, because you place your order at a counter so servers are really not responsible for much. Secondly, the restaurant is just so blah. Barely decorated walls, a really gross bathroom, corners/moldings are dirty. It gives hospital cafeteria, which is completely different than their hip, vibrant advertisements. All in all, I'm a fan for life but this place could use a little investment to step it up a notch.

Based on food, that 2-star above would be a "4". It's a family-run establishment, and therein lies the reason for the 2-star mark. They have rules. Oboy, do they have rules. When you order the chicken, they bring it out "family style", and only the folks who order the chicken can sup from the bowls. They put out relishes and yummy corn fritters, but don't think you're going to get to take them along in the doggie bag. You can rent a seat for $10.41, if you don't order a full dinner; and your kids can rent their seats for $5.20, if THEY don't order a dinner. There's a "Lettuce salad" for $8.63, but only at that price if you order WITHOUT croutons. Apparently the WFF folks didn't swing when the crouton futures were favorable. For the record, "croutons" are nowhere on the menu...at any price. There was a scowling manager who reminded me of Basil Fawlty (q.v.). It seemed she was annoyed by the customers. Their policy is NO SPLIT CHECKS. That's okay, we have calculators on our fones. We were a party of four, a regular dining quartet, and it is our custom that no one picks up the entire check. Sometimes one or more of us pays cash for their portion and others have a card. We'll say: "charge each card $40, and here's $50 in cash". Round numbers, easy peasy. (which actually results in a bonus for the server 'cos the tip turns out to be greater than normal) We've never encountered a problem at any resto (who accepts credit cards) when it came to giving them payment in this fashion. O, but there was a problem here. One of our 4 didnt have any cash and needed to pay with his card, but was told "No, you can't!" The fellow with the Card was so offended, he said he was going to skip dinner, and just have a Diet Coke. But that would trigger the $10.41 "I ain't eatin'" fee. Well. It stupefies me that ANY establishment would kick back at customers wanting to pay their bill. The waitress was adamant that we could not proffer varied payments for our bill. We asked for a manager, and Ms. Fawlty sidled up to our table. They kept insisting there was "NO SPLIT CHECK", but we weren't ASKING for a split check. The ask was on the SUM TOTAL (with generous tip added). We even made the ask in "round numbers" They didn't have to do any math. I thought I was going to have to pull up an Esperanto translator to get her to understand we weren't asking to SPLIT the check. After some sprightly conversation, the loose wire in the old bag's noggin hit the right contact and then she grokked what we were proposing. I thought I saw sparks coming from her right ear, but it might have been a trick of the light. Luckily, the guy with the card could now eat. The aggregate service was fine, with the above exception, and as I said above, the food IS top-notch. Even beyond Chicken-- the Steak here is very good. My carping here nonetheless, it's a fun place to go, and you are guaranteed a fine feed. But if you're in mixed company, work out who is going to grab the tab before you sit down...
