I reallllllllly love Bonchon food. I do not like the atmosphere of the restaurant or the service. And yet, I return time and time again. That's gotta say something. Firstly, if you go here, do not leave without trying the fried chicken - that's not debatable. Other items that make me come back is the chicken katsu, Sotteok Sotteok and Bao Buns. They also have a Korean hot dog that's pretty decent with the soy garlic sauce. My favorite go-to is the chicken katsu, it's not the absolute best I've had but it's very close and this a hard dish to find. Grilled meat not as good as fried meat here. Beef is kinda tasteless. Sotteok Sotteok is chewy rice cakes and sausage if you've never tried it, it's like $4 - give it ago. Bringing me to my next point, this place is super affordable. If you're unfamiliar with Korean food this is an awesome place to experiment and try new things. To elaborate on my complaints, I must start with service here is very hit or miss. More than half of my visits the employees seem clueless about their responsibilities and very rarely come to check if you need anything. The little robot is cool, but you can't ask it for a refill or napkins. All is kind of funny, because you place your order at a counter so servers are really not responsible for much. Secondly, the restaurant is just so blah. Barely decorated walls, a really gross bathroom, corners/moldings are dirty. It gives hospital cafeteria, which is completely different than their hip, vibrant advertisements. Came with a friend Sunday evening around 7 pm. Parking was really easy to find because the restaurant is attached to a mall. We were greeted and seated right away. This place is known for their Korean chicken wings but we got the bulgogi fries and tteokbokki because that's what sounded good to us at the time. There could have been more bulgogi on the fries but the fries themselves were cooked perfectly. The tteokbokki had a good kick to it but the flavor was great. It came with two gyozas on top as well. I got the Seoul sampler. The food was pretty good. I did order pickup so I didn't realize there was a sign that said due to the bird flu the chickens will be medium size. Korean fried chicken is know for there large and plump drums/wings. If the fried chicken was the original size I would say it's definitely worth coming here to check out! This a good quick fix when it comes to the basics of Korean cuisine. This is my first time trying the fried chicken and it was not bad at all. I live less than 10 minutes away from the restaurant and our food tasted as if it had been sitting for a while. It wasn't even lukewarm. Big disappointment, especially for the price! I got the mixed 6 wings + 3 drums in half & half (soy garlic and Korean BBQ) flavors, plus seasoned fries. This was for takeout. In my experience Korean fried chicken usually holds up well even for delivery/takeout, but in this case the chicken and fries both got soggy. I tried heating them back up in the air fryer, but they still weren't as crispy as I was hoping. The soy garlic and Korean BBQ chicken were very salty and didn't have much else flavor besides that. The seasoned fries were a bit bland (or got overshadowed by the chicken), so they did balance out a bit. read more

Service was horrible. Waited for 10 minutes to order and there were only 2 people in the restaurant. Once I ordered, the meal I ordered came out piece mail. They sent my bulgogi fries and My wife's meal came out and she was almost done with her meal. This is the worst Korean fried chicken I have ever had. Just go to bbq.chicken in Hmart or Kogi Kogi express or choongman chicken in park to shop. All 3 options are 10x better. Now I know why it is never crowded and why no actual Koreans are ever there. Expensive and poor quality. Value (D) It's expensive and not a good value. With tip and tax I paid around $14 for a few small pieces of chicken and some pickled radish. The total food cost might have been around $1.50. You all can check out the pic and tell me if this a lunch special you would pay for. This place would be a total ripoff during non lunch special hours.. Quality (C) The chicken was okay and the yum yum sauce wasn't bad - but the garlic soy tasted weird. Note I have had KFC numerous times and the taste was off. I don't know if they messed up the sauce or burnt it but it was weird. Service (B) They were nice enough there and the food didn't take too long to come out. But some of the other tables had clearly been waiting for a long time. I think they are understaffed. My recommendation would be to skip this place and not waste your time. So many better alternatives that won't have you feeling screwed. They don't really care about serving good food. I really wanted this place to be good as it is close to my office and I could introduce my coworkers. But not happening. Other similar places that I think will go out of business, close locations or dramatically slow expansion are Kura revolving sushi, crumbl cookies, five guys and Bombay Eats. My daughter got the popcorn shrimp which came with fries. They were good. Nothing spectacular, but exactly what you would expect from popcorn shrimp. The spicy comes HOT, even for me who is used to eating spicy foods so I will find a good balance between half and half of soy and spicy. Didn't want traditional chicken so we opted for the chicken strips or tenders which actually come as tenderized pieces of chicken breast so more like thin patties. I opted for the spicy sauce & it was great. I typically prefer spicier wings & it reminded me of the mango habanero flavored heat that other places offer but with an Asian zing. They also serve beer & I had the large (22oz) Sapporo which I've known to like previously. Service was prompt & attentive. The ambiance was a modern fast food feel & the place was very clean. The yangnyeom sauce was delicious and the chicken traveled well on the way home. My husband said the spicy was definitely spicy: it kicks in a little late. I also ordered soy garlic chicken tacos. They were tasty and filling. The pork buns were good. The seasoned fries were good but a little soggy after traveling home. We ended up getting the drumsticks, Potstickers, chicken fried rice, and a couple of other main dishes. And what I like is that they give everyone small plates in case you want to share. And also with certain dishes like the chicken and Potstickers, there are 3 different flavors to choose from. And I will say the spicy dishes and flavors can get spicy! Even my bf couldn't handle some of the spice, lol. But at the time we went, it was pretty casual seating, and when they bring out the food, they use a cute little robot which my daughter loved.
