Surprisingly great taste for fast food place. Had some carry out of fried chicken wings. This time we came for the udon soup and bibimbap. My kid was thrilled with a little serving robot carrying our food over, who specifically mentioned to me that the beef udon was exactly what he wanted. My bibimbap was severed in a hot clay pot. The best one the a little browned up crispy rice on the bottom. Enjoyed it very much. Services were wonderful. Will visit again when craving the food. read more

I reallllllllly love Bonchon food. I do not like the atmosphere of the restaurant or the service. And yet, I return time and time again. That's gotta say something. Firstly, if you go here, do not leave without trying the fried chicken - that's not debatable. Other items that make me come back is the chicken katsu, Sotteok Sotteok and Bao Buns. They also have a Korean hot dog that's pretty decent with the soy garlic sauce. My favorite go-to is the chicken katsu, it's not the absolute best I've had but it's very close and this a hard dish to find. Grilled meat not as good as fried meat here. Beef is kinda tasteless. Sotteok Sotteok is chewy rice cakes and sausage if you've never tried it, it's like $4 - give it ago. Bringing me to my next point, this place is super affordable. If you're unfamiliar with Korean food this is an awesome place to experiment and try new things. To elaborate on my complaints, I must start with service here is very hit or miss. More than half of my visits the employees seem clueless about their responsibilities and very rarely come to check if you need anything. The little robot is cool, but you can't ask it for a refill or napkins. All is kind of funny, because you place your order at a counter so servers are really not responsible for much. Secondly, the restaurant is just so blah. Barely decorated walls, a really gross bathroom, corners/moldings are dirty. It gives hospital cafeteria, which is completely different than their hip, vibrant advertisements. All in all, I'm a fan for life but this place could use a little investment to step it up a notch. read more

I tried the bulgogi bibimbop & I really love it so much more from H Mart's Korean Food court. Most people love this restaurant. So I'll have to try it again, when I am next door at Bass Pro Shops and I will try something different on their menu. What should I try instead? read more

Decided to stop in for lunch today to get the lunch special...it was good but I got the Korean again I forgot they I like the soy better lol, for a lunch special it was a LOT of food... very fresh and delicious, the fries were so good and you could tell that they were freshly made. Bonchon Bolingbrook - Chicken Combo 4 Wings 2 Drumsticks with kimchi - Korean Near Me - Bolingbrook, Illinois

Casual dining fried chicken place, but several other Korean dish options. Staff is friendly and quick. Clean dining area. I love the sweet and spicy fried chicken. The skin is fried in such a way that it's almost separated from the meat, it's really yummy. We also got some fried rice with bulgolgi that was good, but a little greasy. Definitely fast food. We also got the corn dog type thing that was filled with cheese. Pretty yummy, but heavy. Good food, but for a cheat day. read more

Came with a friend Sunday evening around 7 pm. Parking was really easy to find because the restaurant is attached to a mall. We were greeted and seated right away. This place is known for their Korean chicken wings but we got the bulgogi fries and tteokbokki because that's what sounded good to us at the time. There could have been more bulgogi on the fries but the fries themselves were cooked perfectly. The tteokbokki had a good kick to it but the flavor was great. It came with two gyozas on top as well. Would recommend! read more

Small fast food place - good wings but that's it - if looking for a Korean food this is not the place - the only thing good was the steam rice and kimchi- case in point- not good other than the wings read more

The Tteokbokki was spicy and cheesy good. They added 2 veggie potstickers on top. Also had tried the Bulgogi stir fry Udon, which was amazing. Red peppers and bulgogi were in the dish. Great flavors and had the right amount of seasoning. We like the Udon Noodles, so this was a new dish to try for us. Last of all had the chicken katsu on rice and side of Cole slaw. Like that they have robot servers that brings the food to the table. The servers will come by to take the food and place on the table for you. read more

Everything was fantastic! The service, the food was excellent and the place was cool. It was comical to see and hear the robots bringing the food. A new and neat concept. We had the chicken wings plain and Korean bbq both were to die for then my husband had the undon soup which he liked but said next time he'd get meat in it. I got the bulgogi which was delicious and the meat was nice and tender. We will go back very soon and will keep it in our regular rotation. read more

I got the Seoul sampler. The food was pretty good. I did order pickup so I didn't realize there was a sign that said due to the bird flu the chickens will be medium size. Korean fried chicken is know for there large and plump drums/wings. If the fried chicken was the original size I would say it's definitely worth coming here to check out! However the chicken pieces I got were pretty small. I would say it's quite overpriced currently. Definitely wait until they go back to the original drum/wing sizes before coming here! read more

This place is solid for a lunch or dinner, but nothing super special. It's never busy inside, but it seems they do quite a bit of take out orders. Food is good, and service is just okay. Skip the French fries - they are not worth it in the slightest and honestly super disappointing. read more

If you're a fan of crispy, flavorful chicken, Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken is an absolute must-try. The chicken is perfectly fried to a golden. I went for their signature soy garlic flavor and spicy chicken. They both had just the right balance of sweet and savory, with a bit of a kick. The Korean donuts were a perfect finish to the meal. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Overall, Bonchon nails it. Fried chicken and beer? You can't go wrong. Highly recommend! read more

I have been coming here since it first opened couple years ago , their chicken kastsu is bomb I LOVE the spicy chicken friend rice although it's much less spicier now than I remember (someone prob complained ) their service is great we've never had an issue with our service before their bathroom needs a little work but overall delicious food read more

Ambiance 4* - simple, modern, spacious, warehouse-feel ceilings, cool light features. Cute robot helps bring out the food. Service 5* - nice guy who answered questions re the menu. He also recommended the pork buns which were to die for!! Refilled drinks without us having to ask. Food 5* - omg... The pok belly buns are a MUST have. The texture of the bun is soft and delicious. I was nervous about the pork belly texture coz of the fat but it had a great fried texture. The sauce was super yum. And the wings... The crispiness of the skin was amazing. And their sauces were so flavorful. The soy garlic sauce was bomb. Order the yum yum sauce if you like spicy. Equally delicious. They bring out the chicken with a cubed picked radish side. Nice pairing with the sweet and spicy sauces. You must eat the chicken with white rice! Takes it to another level. We will be back! Other: lots of mall parking. read more

This a good quick fix when it comes to the basics of Korean cuisine. This is my first time trying the fried chicken and it was not bad at all. Next time I hope to enjoy it on location, so it is nice and fresh! We ordered a bunch from this place including fried chicken, corn, pork belly plate that comes with rice, kimchi, and a friend egg. All great. They have a lot on the menu so I hope if I am ever in town or around another chain, I can try more. We got it delivered, and it came on time, and everything was intact and ready to eat. read more

Had a nice lunch with friends at Bonchon on Sunday and had a pleasant time! We were seated quickly and the food was amazingggg! I highly recommend the bulgogi fries and the wings with Yang Yum sauce! Good spot for a date. The food is simple but packed with flavor. The anime vibe was a bit much, but otherwise great service.

I ordered takeout online. Got to the restaurant way before the order was scheduled to be ready. I live less than 10 minutes away from the restaurant and our food tasted as if it had been sitting for a while. It wasn't even lukewarm. Big disappointment, especially for the price! Also, they had a steady flow of customers, so you would think the food would be hot. I ordered two orders of the potstickers (half & half sauce) and two orders of the shrimp shumai, one fried and one steamed. I won't be back anytime soon or at all. read more

I got the mixed 6 wings + 3 drums in half & half (soy garlic and Korean BBQ) flavors, plus seasoned fries. This was for takeout. In my experience Korean fried chicken usually holds up well even for delivery/takeout, but in this case the chicken and fries both got soggy. I tried heating them back up in the air fryer, but they still weren't as crispy as I was hoping. The soy garlic and Korean BBQ chicken were very salty and didn't have much else flavor besides that. The seasoned fries were a bit bland (or got overshadowed by the chicken), so they did balance out a bit. read more

Service was horrible. Waited for 10 minutes to order and there were only 2 people in the restaurant. Once I ordered, the meal I ordered came out piece mail. They sent my bulgogi fries and My wife's meal came out and she was almost done with her meal. He kept giving me an excuse that the drumsticks had to be remade and that everyone else was also waiting for the drumsticks. By the time my meal made it to the table my fries were cold. Only one server handling the entire floor and the rest of the staff didn't seem concerned about the customers or the experience. read more

Overall (C) Just your average over priced small portion chain trying to corner the market on Korean fried chicken but serving an inferior product while chasing profit margins. This is the worst Korean fried chicken I have ever had. Just go to bbq.chicken in Hmart or Kogi Kogi express or choongman chicken in park to shop. All 3 options are 10x better. Now I know why it is never crowded and why no actual Koreans are ever there. Expensive and poor quality. Value (D) It's expensive and not a good value. With tip and tax I paid around $14 for a few small pieces of chicken and some pickled radish. The total food cost might have been around $1.50. You all can check out the pic and tell me if this a lunch special you would pay for. This place would be a total ripoff during non lunch special hours.. Quality (C) The chicken was okay and the yum yum sauce wasn't bad - but the garlic soy tasted weird. Note I have had KFC numerous times and the taste was off. I don't know if they messed up the sauce or burnt it but it was weird. Service (B) They were nice enough there and the food didn't take too long to come out. But some of the other tables had clearly been waiting for a long time. I think they are understaffed. My recommendation would be to skip this place and not waste your time. So many better alternatives that won't have you feeling screwed. They don't really care about serving good food. I really wanted this place to be good as it is close to my office and I could introduce my coworkers. But not happening. Other similar places that I think will go out of business, close locations or dramatically slow expansion are Kura revolving sushi, crumbl cookies, five guys and Bombay Eats. They all are similar - 1. Poorly trained staff 2. Over priced items 3. Too much bad marketing - lots of hype but little follow through 4. Not enough food - small portion sizes or unavailable items 5. Skimping on quality 6. Trying to maximize price on every item and offering little differentiated value 7. Defensive and tone deaf to feedback 8: lack of repeat visits 9. Managing by excel and not actually in the locations 10. Absent management or lack of invested owners All the positive reviews should be prefaced with "I have never been to a real Korean fried chicken place...so I think this place is good, because...." read more

I came to Bonchon for the lunch special this past week during work for a pickup order! The service was super quick and the food was all fresh. I ordered the fried rice, the wings, and the bonchon wrap. The fried rice and wrap were quite average - but if you're looking for the true crispy fried Korean chicken experience I'd get the wings (bone or boneless). I always opt for the half and half flavor of soy garlic and Korean spicy. read more

This fast food Korean fried chicken chain is one of my favorites and we're incredibly lucky to have gotten one so close to our home! They primarily serve plain, soy, or spicy marinated fried chicken wings, however, there are some seasonal additions to the menu or if they're debuting new sauces. The spicy comes HOT, even for me who is used to eating spicy foods so I will find a good balance between half and half of soy and spicy. Every meal comes with your choice of white radish cubes or coleslaw which is a nice way to cleanse the palette. They have a variety of other great menu items I would recommend trying, including the buns, katsu, and kimchi fries. Overall, it's always a solid and delicious meal and will guarantee that you will not be disappointed if you're looking for hot, crispy fried chicken! Best, Charlie read more

We ordered take out from here, so I don't' have experience eating inside. The food was ready on time and it was quick to pick up. Everyone got something a little different. My daughter got the popcorn shrimp which came with fries. They were good. Nothing spectacular, but exactly what you would expect from popcorn shrimp. The breading was crisp and the shrimp wasn't overdone. My husband ordered some BAO buns for an appetizer. The flavor and texture was very good. I would highly recommend these if you are ordering from here. I ordered the seafood Bibimbap. It was extremely plain. I have to say I was very disappointed. I started off with the BAO buns and thought the rest was going to be just as flavorful, but this entree was plain. The rice was either over done or not done enough, but it was crispy in an unpleasant way. The lack of flavor is what really was disappointing to me though. I decided to give this place an overall score of 3 stars because it the food was inconsistent. The bao buns were very good, the seafood Bibimbap was bad, and the popcorn shrimp was standard. My brother-in-law got the wings and liked them. Therefore, 3 stars seems to pretty much sum up our experience. Bibimbap (super plain) read more

Met up relatives here for dinner one night. Didn't want traditional chicken so we opted for the chicken strips or tenders which actually come as tenderized pieces of chicken breast so more like thin patties. I opted for the spicy sauce & it was great. I typically prefer spicier wings & it reminded me of the mango habanero flavored heat that other places offer but with an Asian zing. They also serve beer & I had the large (22oz) Sapporo which I've known to like previously. Service was prompt & attentive. The ambiance was a modern fast food feel & the place was very clean. Pricing was a bit high but I think it was well worth it. So delicious, definitely coming back! read more

First time trying this place and glad we did. We had the potstickers, which are a must try! So when my husband and I order potstickers we usually ask for them well done, here we didn't even have to ask, nice crunch to them. Then we got the wing combo and the tacos. Both were amazing! Preferred the wings over the drumsticks tho. Got a side of fries too. They were good, I'd definitely try the seasoned ones next time when we come again. I'm definitely a ranch person though and their ranch was not good. The spicy Mayo was super spicy, little too much for me. read more

Very delicious! I had the tebbokki with shredded beef. We also had bao as an appetizer. Love the robot server.

We recently ordered carry out from here for the first time, and my husband and I were pretty impressed. We got 2 combos of 6 wings & 3 drumsticks. The yangnyeom sauce was delicious and the chicken traveled well on the way home. My husband said the spicy was definitely spicy: it kicks in a little late. I also ordered soy garlic chicken tacos. They were tasty and filling. The pork buns were good. The seasoned fries were good but a little soggy after traveling home. We'd be interested in trying the place again, maybe in person next time. read more

The wings are fabulous! They are crunchy on the outside and not dried out in the inside. The seasoned fries are excellent. They have some sort of light coated breading that makes them taste unique unlike any French fries I've ever had. There are other items on the menu that look good. When we ordered carry out, each time promised was accurate. Seating is spaced out and it is very clean inside. read more
