AYCE Korean BBQ AND hot pot? What a novel concept! I was leery of this combo, but count me as a believer! You can choose to get two different broths or just single for hot pot, and there's a nice variety of proteins, veg, and noodles to choose from. They have a pho broth, but it's slightly salty. I preferred the tomato broth, which had actual tomatoes in it. The KBBQ was a real treat. The cuts of short rib were so big! Loved that you could also get fried chicken on the side, which was crisp and juicy. The fried rice was dry so I'll get regular rice next time. Like the hot pot menu, the KBBQ menu had variety in meats, seafood, and veg. I'll add Wabi Q to the rotation of KBBQ places, but I wish their exhaust was stronger. Your clothes will definitely smell like your food at the end of the day, but maybe that's a good thing!

Regular Price for AYCE Korean BBQ (Dinner, Weekends, Holidays) is now $32.99/person as of 9/28/2025. To be honest, I had a bit of a low expectation going in due to the mixed reviews, but it turned out to be a pretty great experience! Some of their meats were actually great. Best / what to order: - Short Ribs: this is one of their best meats. Period. Was quite surprised to be honest (in a good way). - Pork Belly (Spicy / Regular) - Black Pepper Beef - Beef Slices - Garlic Shrimp - Fried Rice - Decent sauce selection What we didn't like/enjoy: - Beef Tongue: this was way too tough. Hard to chew. Go to Gyu-kaku instead if you want real good beef tongue. - Ribeye Steak: also very tough. Price is quite similar/consistent with other AYCE Korean BBQ places you'd find in the Northern/North-west Suburbs. Place/vibe is so-so. The bathrooms definitely could use a bit more cleaning. But this is definitely your best bet in the Bolingbrook area.

Pretty bad service. Will not be coming back. Three things: 1. The sweet potatoes was spoiled and had a sour taste 2. Got a huge portion of beef tripe and was told they will need to charge me extra for the left over portion. I told them I only ordered 1 beef tripe and ate 6-7 pieces but that the portion size was too big 3. Came in when there were only 2 tables and requested a window seat which was declined. There were about 6 window tables.

Love the food, the people and the experience! You really get a bang for your buck! Just wish they didn't get rid of the ice cream at the end. I loved the green tea ice cream they served. Otherwise this place is certainly an awesome place to take family and friends!

Came for Mothers' day before. 5 of us sat relatively comfortably at a table. We asked them to explain the process being first timers. We weren't really given clear instructions. She basically just pointed at the menu. When we finally found the sauce station, I noticed the yum yum sauce was bottled store bought sauce still in the bottle! Some of the items pictured, like the trumpet mushrooms, weren't what was pictured. Fried rice was cold. It took a very long time to cook the grilled meat. Asparagus is mostly Woody stems. The regular hotpot broth had no flavor. Water was served in red solo cups. Meat wasn't great quality, leaving a swimming pool of grease under the grill area well. We were afraid to order more meat in case the grease caught fire. No kimchi, which is pictured on the website. No bubble tea, which is pictured even outside on the restaurant!!!!! Needless to say, we were not impressed, unfortunately. Mom wanted Andy's custard afterward if that says anything.

I was a little skeptical of trying this place because of all the negative reviews but decided to give it a try anyways, and I'm glad I did. Cooking on parchment paper was fine. They oil the grill before putting the parchment paper on and replace it when it chars too much. The meats still got char lines and were crispy. The grill was hot and food was fast to cook. As long as you don't overcrowd your grill and group similar foods together, you shouldn't have any issues. The marinated meats were good. I would recommend the non-spicy pork, marinated beef, and short ribs. I thought the black pepper beef had too much marinade. Because the vegetables are non-marinaded, you can dip it in sauces from the sauce bar. If you need a tip on sauces, you should get a soy sauce based one and add things like green onions or sesame oil and get another sauce that's heavier like sesame, hot sauce, or satay/sa cha. I suspect that the reviews about food not being flavorful is probably because people didn't do the sauce right. Also, this is clearly not Korean bbq, so I'm not sure why others commented on the lack of banchan. I thought service was good. They were friendly and more importantly, fast. Tabletop bbq and hot pot is supposed to be about the experience of eating with the people you are with. Why would you want to talk to the servers other than asking for more food, etc. I think some people have unfair expectations of service for bbq and hotpot.

We were shopping around the Bolingbrook area and wanted to eat a late lunch. We found this place with "bbq" and "hot pot" together in the sign, so we were interested in trying it out. After looking around menus, we decided on table top bbq all-you-can-eat. There is a counter where you can get a lot of different types of sauces and herbs. There were basic items like soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili oil and sesame sauce, but also unfamiliar Chinese miso based sauce and etc. My favorite was mixture of sesame oil, soy, oyster sauce, garlic and green onions. It matched with every food we ordered! Our orders: Black pepper beef Marinated beef Spicy pork belly Curry chicken Mussels Zucchini Trumpet mushroom Taro Sweet potato Asparagus Fried rice Show Quoted Content Black pepper beef Marinated beef Spicy pork belly Curry chicken Mussels Zucchini Trumpet mushroom Taro Sweet potato Asparagus Fried rice On the menu, they say how long we are supposed to cook each item, so you know at least it cooked. But I did cook everything at least 30 seconds longer than those set times, just because I like them more crispy. My favorite item was spicy pork belly. It definitely offered more flavor than spiciness. It matched well with Chinese miso dipping sauce. The pork was more on the fatty side, so I recommend to cook them until they get a good singe mark. My second favorite was marinated beef. They prepared meat pretty well. It was tender, easy to chew, and already seasoned well without any sauce. I usually don't eat beef in regular life, but I did enjoy them and did not get sick at all. Third favorite was curry chicken. I liked the flavor, but I feel a little too strongly seasoned, so lost a little fun to dip into other sauces. On the vegetable side, I liked taro and trumpet mushroom. Fairly rare to try them, and I liked their natural sweetness. If I talk about cons, sweet potatoes were cut too curly so tough to cook evenly on the heat. Some of asparagus were missing heads and only thick stem parts. Fried rice was flavorless. And they could not offer different ice cream flavors but vanilla ice cream. But they are all minor complaints from me. I still enjoyed the whole time, got very very full in the end. So, we did not try hot pot menus at all this time. But this BBQ experience kept our expectation pretty high for it. I would recommend ordering simply flavored items first and enjoy with various dipping sauces from the counter.

Disappointed in the portions, photos show the portion for 9 people. Don't recommend if you hungry and your in a big group

Overall, everything was great! We did the hotpot and the KBBQ. They let you order as much as you want. But just be mindful of what you'll actually eat because they can charge you extra if you waste a lot of food. They also have a sauce bar, which I'd recommend you go there before the first round comes out. With the exception of a couple of items, the food does not come seasoned--just raw meats and veggies. So you will want to add the sauces before you cook it or to dip in after. The service was good as well. They were attentive and changed out the grill multiple times so it never had charred debris on it. They were constantly clearing empty plates. I came with a group of teens and they loved it. We will be back for sure!

Tan Tan Ramen: Large portion, quite spicy for someone that can handle very mild spice (so ask for less if they can do it). Flavor is superb, something I'd definitely order again. Came with ground pork, bean sprout, veggies, and half a boiled egg. Teriyaki skewer: Not your traditional Japanese teriyaki flavor, however equally delicious. Tender chicken pieces glazed and seasoned. Agedashi tofu: Gave lots of pieces, I wanna say 8 or 6 pieces. Crunchy exterior, powdered with shichimi togarashi chili powder. Comes with agedashi sauce which is authentic to its flavor. (Very surprised because I've come across lots of restaurants that mess this up). Overall a positive experience, good food and ambiance. In my experience, this signifies either the place was going to be a shithole to pass up, or it was a serious place to eat, then get out and go somewhere with an atmosphere. Happy to say J's (IMHO) is a serious place to eat. No-nonsense, direct and to the point. When I walked in, all those common chairs I mentioned were stacked upside down on the tables in the way that places do when they are closed. The taciturn fellow who worked there assured me they were indeed open, and explained they had just finish washing the floor. Please dont read any of this as negative-the best Chinese places I've ever been have looked like this-and if you've paid attention to the Travel/Food shows on the TeeVee, the joints in China itself are pretty much the same. On to the food, know this place is a Serious REAL-DEAL Chinese resto. I didn't notice if there were "Occidental" Chinese-type dishes on the carte, (primarily 'cos I wasn't looking for them). What I saw looked yum, and had a hard time making choices, even though I had read the menu multiple times and thought I know what I was going to order in advance. Confessionately, this is a chief feature for my tortured dining self-It's a wonder I even get fed in restaurants (especially the great ethnic ones), due to option anxiety. I zeroed in on "Street Noodles" for starters-wouldn't you? Then went to "Cold Beef Shank" for entreé. The Noodles were fab as was the Shank. The noodles were in a broth. with some hunks of bok choy and ground meat on top. Hearty, still light. The shank had a thin sauce complimenting but not obscuring the beefiness. One bugaboo: the Shank needed a bit of seasoning, and I wasn't going to use soy sauce, as I believed that would have marred the subtle flavors of the Beef. I asked for a salt shaker. It arrived, and I was a little taken back, 'cos it appeared it hadn't been washed in a while, and the salt inside was caked. It occurred to me this condition was present due to the non-use of said shaker. I don't think I've ever asked for a salt shaker in a Chinese resto. I pulled a toothpick out of my "Murse" and broke up the caked NaCl. Applying same to the pieces of Shank, the flavor bloomed and I was a happy boy. Bring some salt packets along when you visit "J's", maybe. The fellow who was waiter and cashier was a "western" fellow, whom I engaged and turned out to be quite an experienced foodie. some pleasant conversation indeed.
