Pleasantly surprised by Umaka, (Coming from someone picky about broth) they serve Japanese and Chinese dishes. Everything had a substantial depth of flavor. I ordered their teriyaki skewers, agedashi tofu, and tan tan ramen. Sibling ordered the beef noodle soup. Ambiance is cozy, extremely large booths for family style seating or with friend groups. Tan Tan Ramen: Large portion, quite spicy for someone that can handle very mild spice (so ask for less if they can do it). Flavor is superb, something I'd definitely order again. Came with ground pork, bean sprout, veggies, and half a boiled egg. Teriyaki skewer: Not your traditional Japanese teriyaki flavor, however equally delicious. Tender chicken pieces glazed and seasoned. Agedashi tofu: Gave lots of pieces, I wanna say 8 or 6 pieces. Crunchy exterior, powdered with shichimi togarashi chili powder. Comes with agedashi sauce which is authentic to its flavor. (Very surprised because I've come across lots of restaurants that mess this up). Overall a positive experience, good food and ambiance. Have yet to try their Japanese menu items like tonkatsu ramen, but all my recs above are a safe bet! read more

Becoming one of my regular since they started introducing rice noodles In addition of the Raman noodles choices. Raman noodles are decent too but there are other choices of Raman place. The rice noodles with Hunan style are unique at our suburban areas. Another choice to make to the China town in the City. We have tried almost all flavored rice noodles soup. My favorites are Xiao chao Xiang and spicy ribs. Xiao chao Xiang can pair up with rice as well. Both delicious. Services are always quick and friendly. They have only 6 tables and a few bar seats. This was a pretty decent spot for ramen considering there are not a whole lot in the Lisle area. There is shared parking. They have a decent amount of seating, I don't think they get super busy. They also have a special Chinese menu so I guess this is a good Chinese and Japanese place. I'll have to return to try their Chinese dishes. We ordered gyoza, kaarage shoyu ramen, and tonkotsu ramen. The broths were well seasoned. The kaarage chicken was very juicy in the middle and crispy on the outside. The chashu was very tender and little chew. Gyozas were tasty. This is the third time I have tried rice noodles after it reopened. The first two time I ordered hongshao beef rice noodles 红烧牛肉粉 and beef ribs rice noodles牛排牛肉粉。Today I tried the Mala rice noodles 麻辣牛肉粉。All three were very delicious and authentic. If you like beef soft, I recommend beef ribs one, the Hongshao one. The beef in Mala one is a little hard, and I asked the boss Ms. Abu and she said that's a specialty in Hunan (a Chinese province famous for spicy food) style. Definitely worth trying all three if you like authentic Chinese food, I guarantee you will love them! I will come and try the stir fry rice noodles too. I forgot to take photos for the first two. Stopped in for a quick lunch and got the tempura udon. The vegetable tempura sides include sweet potato and onion rings; slightly on the greasy side, but the udon had a great texture and the soup is umami while not being too salty. You can also ask the server to mix and match soup based with the ramen/toppings (eg. Tantanmen soup based with tonkatsu toppings)! Friendly and great service. They knew without asking me to serve me warm water and my husband cold water. Now that's pretty amazing. My husband got the Tonkotsu ramen with extra noodles and egg (which is half an egg). Pretty decent size bowl with a good amount of toppings. Got the spicy beef ramen. Very spicy and were cooked perfectly. Not soggy. Had lots of meat and bok chocolate (not just one stalk) Also got the tempura combination as an appetizer, but it came after we were halfway through our ramen. There were 2 pieces of each vegetable and shrimp. They were delicious and crunchy. It was very warm inside. They only had booths that can seat up to 4ppl. Lots of parking space available. Definitely will have to try coming back to try the fried rice or rice bowl. read more

Not worth the money! Ordered $30 worth of food and received less than $10 worth to make! I ordered udon noodles thinking it was a soup, but they just gave me some really dry udon noodles in a bowl without any soup!? Not even given a free rice to eat with tempura ordered. Came for lunch since we live nearby and I was very satisfied! They actually offer a few different kinds of noodles which is nice. It's still in the soft opening phase, but I ordered the tantan ramen and shared the tempura combo appetizer with my family. I liked that their broth is not too salty or thick, and the noodles were bouncy, and the tantan specifically had a little bit of a kick which was really nice in the winter. I really loved their tempura -- it was super fresh and crispy and it was a great portion size for the price! The vibe inside was cozy and relaxed with calming piano music playing in the background. We were one of a couple customers there at a time so service was fast. Our waiter forgot to give us napkins and utensils when the tempura came but we just asked for it later. This was my first time eating at Umaka and it was absolutely delicious! My sister and I came in for a late dinner around 9pm when they usually close, but they stayed open late for us so we could dine in! The restaurant was so clean with a relaxing and fun ambiance, the employee who helped us was so kind and thoughtful, and the food was incredible! We ordered a brown sugar bubble tea, chicken ramen, and crab rangoons. Everything was outstanding and we even received this delicious candy cookie at the end of our meal. We absolutely loved our experience at Umaka and highly recommend dining here! We can't wait to go again soon read more
