The Seafood ramen
Candice H.

I came here with my boyfriend since we had a craving for a nice ramen place. It seems like the restaurant main dishes are rolls and ramen. The seating inside is small, but quiet. We came around 7ish and there was enough seating for the two of us without waiting. Between us, the bill was about $120 with two bottles of sake, ramen, three rolls and two beers. It is definitely a nice low-key kind of place without the fuss of loud music and a large menu. The service was good too! Very attentive.

Accidentally came in 45 minutes before closing (I messed up closing time when looking when they closed) and they still took us in and served us. Very clean place and the food was absolutely delicious! Serves were extremely kind. Will definitely come back. If they see this I want to say I'm really sorry, and thank you once again.

I had a taste for Ramen, and this place appealed to me based on the Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint!!! I ordered to go but when I went to pick up my order I realized I had made a big mistake and I should have dined in. The restaurant was, modern, open, clean and inviting. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles, egg rolls and pot stickers. The Dan Dan noodles were amazing, with much flavor coming from the stir fried ground pork, with the hot chilies, sesame sauce, and scallions. The eggrolls were light and airy. They were actually the spring rolls, deep-fried. Yummy to my palate! The potstickers I didn't eat until the next day, but they were bursting with flavor. This place gets 4 thumbs up! Excellent food and great ambience I will return for the dining experience so I can give a critique on the service.

Shrimp tempura udon

It was my first time at Ichiban ramen and since my friend is a pescatarian, we decided to omit meat for our lunch. Atmosphere is so pretty and staff was nice and friendly. Since I speak Mandarin, we were able to communicate and they were so nice. We ordered the Agedashi tofu appetizer and it was so delicious with the house sauce. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce was light and savory. I got the vegetarian ramen and tuna roll and both was fresh and delicious. My friend loved her shrimp tempura udon. I will definitely go back again just for their 1/2 ramen + 1 sushi roll lunch special. If you're in the neighborhood and crave ramen, I highly recommend Ichiban for both the food and the atmosphere. I hope to bring my hubby there so he can also try their sushi and ramen. I'm sure he will love it as well!

Nice little place with excellent sushi & shrimp/veggie tempura. The Spicy Angel Roll is to die for but all the rolls we have had were lovely and fresh. Wasn't crazy About the fried squid; it was not light & crispy like their lovely tempura but more traditional breading, bit overcooked. Ramen is fine; the pork isn't as luscious at some other places nor is the broth so I focus on other items. My friend had chicken yakitori which was a little different; I guess usually it's thinner slices on skewers and this was big generous chunks but I liked the one I tasted. The owner is super nice and all the servers are too.

Service was a little slow at the beginning but honestly the team was so kind and attentive, just a small team at a busy time. Food was great and we all enjoyed our dishes and drink! 2 of the 4 of us voted the beef yaki udon as our favorite. We also got seafood ramen, beef noodle, and dan dan noodles. The dan dan noodles at Ichiban are very brothy. Still good, just different from the way other places might make it. Not pictures are the takoyaki and crab rangoons. The takoyaki wasn't our favorite but that was just preference. We demolished the rangoons! My mom ordered the Thai iced tea and liked it. If we lived closer we'd for sure come back!

Afters months of searching for a new sushi spot, I somehow ended up ordering from here, I'm glad I did! Placed a takeout order, the food was almost ready in 20 minutes. All of the food was fresh, boxed nicely. I couldn't believe the quality when I got home. After several horrible recent sushi experiences, this place has set the bar high! The Yakisoba Noodle with chicken was delicious. The crab ragoons were giant compared to many places. The sushi rolls were awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better takeout experience. I'd highly recommend checking this place out. I will definitley be coming back very soon. Compliments to the Chef, great food!

Miso Ramen

My partner and I stumbled upon this spot on a cold and snowy December evening and were soooo impressed! Having moved from the city with ample ramen options, we had been on the hunt for a solid ramen joint in the south suburbs. We came on a Thursday evening and were seated and waited on immediately. While we were there, there was one other couple eating, and about a dozen to go orders processed -- we were pleased to see them busy. The food was phenomenal. We started with the crab rangoons, which were cooked/fried to perfection and were a tremendous serving size. We then both had ramen. I had the Miso Ramen (with meat) and my partner had the Yakisoba Ramen with fried chicken. Both were very good and again, generous serving size. We threw some spice in there, and it was delicious. Given the size of the portions we found the prices to be spot on. If you ever find yourself in the area, be sure to stop in! We hope to be back soon.

If you love boba and ramen, you'll become a regular here! We've been wanting to check out this place for a while, and decided to stop here after a dentist appointment next door :) We ordered the Dan Dan ramen, Hawaiian style poke bowl, and a Thai iced tea with boba. It was all absolutely delicious. The food looked exactly like the picture in the menu, was fresh, rice in the poke bowl was seasoned perfectly, the ramen noodles were chewy and delicious, and the broth was really flavorful (and spicy!). I love this place so much already and we are already planning on when we'll be back. There were a couple to-go orders while we ate. They have a decent indoor dining area - perfect for either a quick lunch or a nice dinner. The menu has enough of a variety without being overwhelming. The bathroom was extremely clean, and the seating area was as well. Service was very friendly. It felt like a lot of love goes into this place - definitely a local gem.

Quick and great service. Delicious food. My new favorite and go to sushi spot. Highly recommend

Hawaii poki bowl. Amazing sauce- full of flavor- easy to tell it's made in house. Fish and veggies very fresh and flavorful.

I liked the Mexican sushi roll with avocado. And crab rangoon. But the Dan Dan ramen stole the show. It's absolutely phenomenal. Delicious.

We recently stopped at Gung Ho. First timers. It's a Japanese eatery specializing in poke bowls,…read morebibimbap and ramen. You order at the counter and you either pick up your food or it will be delivered. The restaurant is very clean, has wooden booths and tables. They also have a cart with games and slso sketchbooks at each table. My husband and I started out sharing the takoyaki, which are octopus balls. My son introduced me to this dish and I am obsessed with it so I was happy to see it on the menu. They didn't disappoint. My husband had a Mongolian udon bowl and I had a poke bowl. Both of us customized our bowls and chose what we wanted in them. I like that we are able to do that. I also had a taro milk tea with tapioca pearls made with almond milk. Everything was delicious and fresh. We'll definitely be going back here again.

AS GOOD AS GOLD The…read moremagical broth at this ramen spot in Bolingbrook is 24K of richness. Gung Ho operates on the northwest corner of Boughton & Weber Rd, next to ALDI and a nail salon. Over the years, we've only had carryout/delivery so I can't comment on the dine-in experience....though I have seen a shelf with various card games on it I'd love to take advantage of. Staff are friendly and orders have always been ready on time. My wife usually gets the Shoyu ramen ($15 w/sliced seaweed, garlic oil, spinach) and I always get the miso ramen ($15), a traditional broth with choice of protein, soft boiled egg, green onion, corn, and bamboo shoots. I devoured everything except the bamboo, 'cause I'm not a panda. The pork chashu (braised pork belly) is some of the BEST I've ever had, marvelously fatty with a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. If you're feeling extra hungry (or are really into anime), you can order the Goku ramen bowl ($22) which includes chashu, shrimp, grilled chicken and fried chicken. Maybe eating it makes you go Super Saiyan?? Their ramen has 4 options for spiciness: a 'little' spice, spicy, spicy ++, or a 'spice bomb' on the side. I've ordered normal spicy and it's been perfect every time; I'm worried anything hotter would work against the delicious flavor profile of the broth, which I do not want to mess with. Gyoza (6 for $8) are tasty, especially when dipped in the garlic ginger-soy sauce. Crab Rangoon (6 for $7.50) come with a sweet peach sauce, another great choice for appetizer. If you're not feeling ramen, Gung Ho also has poke bowls ($13), Mongolian stir fry, and a teriyaki bento box ($14). My wife loves their coconut milk tea ($6), and she insists on getting one every visit. I've tried the banana milk tea and the Thai iced tea, both were tasty. You can add tapioca pearls, popping boba, or fruit jelly (lychee, mango, strawberry) at no extra charge. They also have an "avocado milk crush", whatever the heck that is. * TL;DR * Tanaka Ramen in eastern Bolingbrook was our go-to for several years, but I think Gung Ho edges them out in terms of quality. The miso ramen is an umami explosion and the milk teas are great. Prices are fair with an interior that encourages hanging out (sketch pads and board games provided). Gung Ho offers good vibes and some of the best ramen in the area, I highly recommend them!

We ordered for pickup and the food was ready in just 15 minutes. The inside felt modern and minimal, with limited seating and a steady crowd of diners and takeout customers, which is always a good sign. We tried the shrimp spring rolls, chicken Pad Thai, drunken noodles with chicken, and the chicken pineapple fried rice. First off, those shrimp spring rolls? 10/10. Super fresh, light, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. The Pad Thai--Oy's signature dish--was the highlight. Easily the best I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The drunken noodles were right behind it--loaded with flavor and a sneaky little heat. We went with the normal spice level, but beware: those little red peppers pack a serious punch. (Keep a tissue handy... or a glass of milk. Or both.) The pineapple fried rice was solid. Not quite as bold or savory as Chinese-style fried rice, but still tasty and a nice complement to the spicier mains. Overall, Oy's delivers some of the best Thai food in the south suburbs. The menu is short and sweet, but every dish is cooked to order--and it shows. If you're new to Thai food or just looking to level up your takeout game, this spot is absolutely worth it.
