10 piece Chicken Wings and cheese burger meal
    Jalena D.

Abd's Diner is a great a great "hole in a wall" type of restaurant. Unless you reside in Bolingbrook, IL, you really would not be too familiar with the place. It's family owned, ran by three brothers. They're all super friendly and make you feel welcome upon entering the restaurant. When I come here, I usually order the Philly steak or Italian beef sandwich, which is always good. However, this time I decided to go with their cheeseburger. The burger was super juicy and flavorful, and it pretty big. They had run out of tomatoes, but it wasn't too big of a deal. We also got a 10 piece chicken wing dinner and catfish nugget dinner. Their chicken wings never disappoint. I was told that they always use new grease for each chicken wing dinner. Their chicken is always golden brown, crispy, super flavorful (somebody knows how to season food) and hot. This chicken is delicious! This was the first time having their catfish nuggets, but they were on sale point as well, no disappointment. You get a side of fries with all of their meals, which are always cooked the way I like, crunchy. They also have a mild and hot sauce that you can add on your food. I have to add that this restaurant is always clean, and the bathroom is usually clean as well. If you're in Bolingbrook, and looking to for a good, quality and affordable food, I would definitely recommend this Abd's Diner.

Abd Diner made me speechless multiple times, amazing customer service i come here often and i receive the same experience every time. Foods amazing. I love how you can add your own mild sauce and lemon pepper.

We ordered a cheeseburger with the garlic fries and the chicken sandwich with the fried mushrooms.

This place is legit. The food was delicious, very juicy and flavorful. The portions are big. I'm completely stuffed. The price is decent. The place is super clean and the staff was extremely friendly. I'm so happy this place is so close to home. It was our first time here and they even gave us a little discount since it was our first time which was really nice. We will definitely be back soon.

When we entered we were well greeted by two of the staff. Very friendly and professional people. And although the outside of the business is somewhat plain the inside is really nice. Well lit with a nice layout and atmosphere. I nice mural on the wall as well. My wife ordered the 2 pc white chicken and waffle. For some reason they consider a wing as white meat? Anyhow, you get a wing and a huge breast with a waffle. The chicken is fried and the batter has a nice taste to it. The breast was way over cooked and dry however. But overall it was good at a price of $8.99. I had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Its served on a regular hamburger bun and the chicken was extremely small. Most of the sandwich was the bun. It was good well and tasted delicious. It comes with a small amount of fries all for $10.99. This item is way over priced and not at all worth the cost. I would value this at $7-$8. Both of our orders were extremely fresh. Cooked to order. It took 30 minutes from order time to get the food which is too long. Neither of us will order these items again but we will return to try other menu items. And the key here is to call in and order ahead.

Based on food, that 2-star above would be a "4". It's a family-run establishment, and therein lies the reason for the 2-star mark. They have rules. Oboy, do they have rules. When you order the chicken, they bring it out "family style", and only the folks who order the chicken can sup from the bowls. They put out relishes and yummy corn fritters, but don't think you're going to get to take them along in the doggie bag. You can rent a seat for $10.41, if you don't order a full dinner; and your kids can rent their seats for $5.20, if THEY don't order a dinner. There's a "Lettuce salad" for $8.63, but only at that price if you order WITHOUT croutons. Apparently the WFF folks didn't swing when the crouton futures were favorable. For the record, "croutons" are nowhere on the menu...at any price. There was a scowling manager who reminded me of Basil Fawlty (q.v.). It seemed she was annoyed by the customers. Their policy is NO SPLIT CHECKS. That's okay, we have calculators on our fones. We were a party of four, a regular dining quartet, and it is our custom that no one picks up the entire check. Sometimes one or more of us pays cash for their portion and others have a card. We'll say: "charge each card $40, and here's $50 in cash". Round numbers, easy peasy. (which actually results in a bonus for the server 'cos the tip turns out to be greater than normal) We've never encountered a problem at any resto (who accepts credit cards) when it came to giving them payment in this fashion. O, but there was a problem here. One of our 4 didnt have any cash and needed to pay with his card, but was told "No, you can't!" The fellow with the Card was so offended, he said he was going to skip dinner, and just have a Diet Coke. But that would trigger the $10.41 "I ain't eatin'" fee. Well. It stupefies me that ANY establishment would kick back at customers wanting to pay their bill. The waitress was adamant that we could not proffer varied payments for our bill. We asked for a manager, and Ms. Fawlty sidled up to our table. They kept insisting there was "NO SPLIT CHECK", but we weren't ASKING for a split check. The ask was on the SUM TOTAL (with generous tip added). We even made the ask in "round numbers" They didn't have to do any math. I thought I was going to have to pull up an Esperanto translator to get her to understand we weren't asking to SPLIT the check. After some sprightly conversation, the loose wire in the old bag's noggin hit the right contact and then she grokked what we were proposing. I thought I saw sparks coming from her right ear, but it might have been a trick of the light. Luckily, the guy with the card could now eat. The aggregate service was fine, with the above exception, and as I said above, the food IS top-notch. Even beyond Chicken-- the Steak here is very good. My carping here nonetheless, it's a fun place to go, and you are guaranteed a fine feed. But if you're in mixed company, work out who is going to grab the tab before you sit down...

My husband said the mild had a very slight kick to it, and was perfect for someone, like him, who doesn't like really spicy food. We ordered their waffle fries, which were delicious. The order was big enough to share. The counter person was very nice, and answered all of our questions. The sandwiches took about 10 minutes. The one major downside to this place was that it was very unkempt. The napkin holders and table tents on the tables were filthy. The windows were covered in smudgy fingerprints. This place has gone through a number of makeovers over the years but it is decidedly a sports bar vibe where you enter the space and traditional restaurant in the back area. Overall a very casual and lively vibe. We waited about 15 minutes with a packed house and were seated in the restaurant portion in a very spacious booth. Our server was prompt, courteous, pleasant, and efficient--attentive but not overly so. The food was excellent with very ample portions at reasonable pricing with many options under $20. I will say they could skip the bread basket before your meal comes out and just put it into giving you a side with the sandwiches versus charging you $2 for each side added. They also feature an extensive craft beer selection. I went with the seasonal Abita Bad Mother Shucker Stout, which was a fun nod to Mardi Gras and a solid stout choice for the occasion. For my entrée, I ordered the Mardi Gras Platter ($32.99). It included: * Choice of soup (I chose the seafood chowder) * Shrimp Creole * Jambalaya * Chicken Étouffée * Crawfish & Shrimp Monica * Broccoli The restaurant was busy, which is understandable for Fat Tuesday, but our food took quite a while to arrive. The soup was delivered at the same time as the platter. In my opinion, the soup should have come out first. Ironically, the seafood chowder ended up being the highlight of the meal--rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. Unfortunately, by the time I finished the soup and moved on to the platter, most of it was only room temperature. The items were layered and grouped together in a way that made it unclear what paired with what. The chicken was noticeably overcooked and lacked depth of flavor. It tasted as though Cajun seasoning had simply been sprinkled on top rather than developed into the dish. Overall, the platter lacked the bold, authentic Cajun flavor profile I was expecting. The Crawfish & Shrimp Monica was advertised as coming in a bowl but was served in what amounted to a cup-sized portion. The menu description listed Cajun Alfredo sauce, crawfish, crab, blackened shrimp, pasta, Parmesan cheese, and broccoli. After mixing in the Parmesan, I searched for the seafood components and found none--no visible crab, crawfish, or blackened shrimp in the pasta. I mentioned this to the bartender, who said they would bring some out to add in. A few minutes later, three Cajun shrimp were delivered. There was still no crab or crawfish. While the Alfredo sauce and pasta themselves were very good, the absence of the advertised proteins significantly hurt the dish. Had I ordered the Crawfish & Shrimp Monica on its own for $24.99 and received the same portion and lack of seafood, I would have been extremely disappointed. Overall, while the concept and menu sounded promising for Mardi Gras, the execution--especially at that price point--left a lot to be desired.
