This place was a nice surprise. I love Korean bbq style food and these wings had awesome flavor and were super crispy. Even my husband liked and he's pretty particular about wings. The place is casual and a bot carries the food to the table.

The Tteokbokki was spicy and cheesy good. They added 2 veggie potstickers on top. Also had tried the Bulgogi stir fry Udon, which was amazing. Red peppers and bulgogi were in the dish. Great flavors and had the right amount of seasoning. We like the Udon Noodles, so this was a new dish to try for us. Last of all had the chicken katsu on rice and side of Cole slaw. Like that they have robot servers that brings the food to the table. The servers will come by to take the food and place on the table for you.

If you're a fan of crispy, flavorful chicken, Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken is an absolute must-try. The chicken is perfectly fried to a golden. I went for their signature soy garlic flavor and spicy chicken. They both had just the right balance of sweet and savory, with a bit of a kick. The Korean donuts were a perfect finish to the meal. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Overall, Bonchon nails it. Fried chicken and beer? You can't go wrong. Highly recommend!

Bacon Kimchi Rice Bowl

This a good quick fix when it comes to the basics of Korean cuisine. This is my first time trying the fried chicken and it was not bad at all. Next time I hope to enjoy it on location, so it is nice and fresh! We ordered a bunch from this place including fried chicken, corn, pork belly plate that comes with rice, kimchi, and a friend egg. All great. They have a lot on the menu so I hope if I am ever in town or around another chain, I can try more. We got it delivered, and it came on time, and everything was intact and ready to eat.

Chicken Seoul Sampler

I got the Seoul sampler. The food was pretty good. I did order pickup so I didn't realize there was a sign that said due to the bird flu the chickens will be medium size. Korean fried chicken is know for there large and plump drums/wings. If the fried chicken was the original size I would say it's definitely worth coming here to check out! However the chicken pieces I got were pretty small. I would say it's quite overpriced currently. Definitely wait until they go back to the original drum/wing sizes before coming here!

Pork belly buns

Ambiance 4* - simple, modern, spacious, warehouse-feel ceilings, cool light features. Cute robot helps bring out the food. Service 5* - nice guy who answered questions re the menu. He also recommended the pork buns which were to die for!! Refilled drinks without us having to ask. Food 5* - omg... The pok belly buns are a MUST have. The texture of the bun is soft and delicious. I was nervous about the pork belly texture coz of the fat but it had a great fried texture. The sauce was super yum. And the wings... The crispiness of the skin was amazing. And their sauces were so flavorful. The soy garlic sauce was bomb. Order the yum yum sauce if you like spicy. Equally delicious. They bring out the chicken with a cubed picked radish side. Nice pairing with the sweet and spicy sauces. You must eat the chicken with white rice! Takes it to another level. We will be back! Other: lots of mall parking.

Great restaurant! All of the staff were so nice, from the hostess at the door to our server and the food was Delicious! Will definitely be back!

Mixed 6 wings and 3 drums

I got the mixed 6 wings + 3 drums in half & half (soy garlic and Korean BBQ) flavors, plus seasoned fries. This was for takeout. In my experience Korean fried chicken usually holds up well even for delivery/takeout, but in this case the chicken and fries both got soggy. I tried heating them back up in the air fryer, but they still weren't as crispy as I was hoping. The soy garlic and Korean BBQ chicken were very salty and didn't have much else flavor besides that. The seasoned fries were a bit bland (or got overshadowed by the chicken), so they did balance out a bit.

Bulgogi Fries

Had a nice lunch with friends at Bonchon on Sunday and had a pleasant time! We were seated quickly and the food was amazingggg! I highly recommend the bulgogi fries and the wings with Yang Yum sauce! We had the pork buns as well and they were delicious but I wish it had more filling. Our server was so friendly and the restaurant had a chill vibe, would come back again

Overall (C) Just your average over priced small portion chain trying to corner the market on Korean fried chicken but serving an inferior product while chasing profit margins. This is the worst Korean fried chicken I have ever had. Just go to bbq.chicken in Hmart or Kogi Kogi express or choongman chicken in park to shop. All 3 options are 10x better. Now I know why it is never crowded and why no actual Koreans are ever there. Expensive and poor quality. Value (D) It's expensive and not a good value. With tip and tax I paid around $14 for a few small pieces of chicken and some pickled radish. The total food cost might have been around $1.50. You all can check out the pic and tell me if this a lunch special you would pay for. This place would be a total ripoff during non lunch special hours.. Quality (C) The chicken was okay and the yum yum sauce wasn't bad - but the garlic soy tasted weird. Note I have had KFC numerous times and the taste was off. I don't know if they messed up the sauce or burnt it but it was weird. Service (B) They were nice enough there and the food didn't take too long to come out. But some of the other tables had clearly been waiting for a long time. I think they are understaffed. My recommendation would be to skip this place and not waste your time. So many better alternatives that won't have you feeling screwed. They don't really care about serving good food. I really wanted this place to be good as it is close to my office and I could introduce my coworkers. But not happening. Other similar places that I think will go out of business, close locations or dramatically slow expansion are Kura revolving sushi, crumbl cookies, five guys and Bombay Eats. They all are similar - 1. Poorly trained staff 2. Over priced items 3. Too much bad marketing - lots of hype but little follow through 4. Not enough food - small portion sizes or unavailable items 5. Skimping on quality 6. Trying to maximize price on every item and offering little differentiated value 7. Defensive and tone deaf to feedback 8: lack of repeat visits 9. Managing by excel and not actually in the locations 10. Absent management or lack of invested owners All the positive reviews should be prefaced with "I have never been to a real Korean fried chicken place...so I think this place is good, because...."

I came to Bonchon for the lunch special this past week during work for a pickup order! The service was super quick and the food was all fresh. I ordered the fried rice, the wings, and the bonchon wrap. The fried rice and wrap were quite average - but if you're looking for the true crispy fried Korean chicken experience I'd get the wings (bone or boneless). I always opt for the half and half flavor of soy garlic and Korean spicy.

Are the wings breaded?

Yes! There's a light crispy, crunchy breading on the wings. It's one of my favorite parts about them!

We shared the kimchi pancake, which was flavorful and satisfying, and each ordered our own bowls. My husband and I had ramen-based soup bowls, while our friends ordered the hot pots with rice. We all chose tofu except for my husband, who tried the mushroom option - he found it a bit tough and "meaty," but still enjoyed the overall dish. The food was very flavorful, portions were huge, and the prices were excellent. We even had leftovers to take home. Overall, a solid spot for a casual, satisfying meal, especially if you're looking for good vegetarian options and great service.

In my experience, this signifies either the place was going to be a shithole to pass up, or it was a serious place to eat, then get out and go somewhere with an atmosphere. Happy to say J's (IMHO) is a serious place to eat. No-nonsense, direct and to the point. When I walked in, all those common chairs I mentioned were stacked upside down on the tables in the way that places do when they are closed. The taciturn fellow who worked there assured me they were indeed open, and explained they had just finish washing the floor. Please dont read any of this as negative-the best Chinese places I've ever been have looked like this-and if you've paid attention to the Travel/Food shows on the TeeVee, the joints in China itself are pretty much the same. On to the food, know this place is a Serious REAL-DEAL Chinese resto. I didn't notice if there were "Occidental" Chinese-type dishes on the carte, (primarily 'cos I wasn't looking for them). What I saw looked yum, and had a hard time making choices, even though I had read the menu multiple times and thought I know what I was going to order in advance. Confessionately, this is a chief feature for my tortured dining self-It's a wonder I even get fed in restaurants (especially the great ethnic ones), due to option anxiety. I zeroed in on "Street Noodles" for starters-wouldn't you? Then went to "Cold Beef Shank" for entreé. The Noodles were fab as was the Shank. The noodles were in a broth. with some hunks of bok choy and ground meat on top. Hearty, still light. The shank had a thin sauce complimenting but not obscuring the beefiness. One bugaboo: the Shank needed a bit of seasoning, and I wasn't going to use soy sauce, as I believed that would have marred the subtle flavors of the Beef. I asked for a salt shaker. It arrived, and I was a little taken back, 'cos it appeared it hadn't been washed in a while, and the salt inside was caked. It occurred to me this condition was present due to the non-use of said shaker. I don't think I've ever asked for a salt shaker in a Chinese resto. I pulled a toothpick out of my "Murse" and broke up the caked NaCl. Applying same to the pieces of Shank, the flavor bloomed and I was a happy boy. Bring some salt packets along when you visit "J's", maybe. The fellow who was waiter and cashier was a "western" fellow, whom I engaged and turned out to be quite an experienced foodie. some pleasant conversation indeed.
