For me, this was a mixed experience. I love the entire concept of this spot from the decor to the backstory to the different food options available. Prices aren't super unreasonable for BBQ and portion sizes aren't too bad either. The sweet tea and lemonade options are also delicious and service is very friendly overall. The food was only alright for me. The meats while tender weren't overly flavorful for me, in terms of smoking and in terms of seasoning. I found that I needed to use a good amount of BBQ sauces to really get enough flavoring, of which the BBQ sauces were varied and fairly good. I like how there was a wide variety of everything from sweet to spicy, from vinegar to tomato based. These were all fairly well balanced and generally bold that matched well with the meats. The sides were a bit mixed - like the cornbread was done fairly well, with a good level of sweetness and texture. The fries were fairly flavorful and lightly crisp, generally enjoyable. The mac and cheese was not super flavorful for me and thought the pasta was a bit softer than it should've been. Overall, it's an alright choice for BBQ. The overall experience is enjoyable though it doesn't stand out too much for me as I find the food fairly similar to competitors in the same price range.

Mission BBQ is a military themed restaurant. Their commitment to honor our heroes is obvious. There are memorabilia, pictures, flags, and more everywhere. Plus, every day at 12:00 they stop serving and play the national anthem. My husband and some friends went there looking for some good barbecue. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich macaroni and cheese and the cheeseburger with French fries. The food was very underwhelming. Only when you add sauces did get any flavor. The pork was dry, the cheeseburger was undercooked, and the macaroni and cheese was forgettable. The best part of the meal was the French fries. There is an employee who wakes around to the tables and checks on the customers and their experience, which I appreciated. There are better barbecue restaurants.

Treated myself to lunch today at Mission BBQ in Downers Grove and used a free sandwich birthday coupon. Wonderful patriotic place that also supports law-enforcement. Food is fabulous. My only regret is it's 30 minutes from my house and there's no closer location. But it's definitely worth the drive.

Hands down my favorite Bbq restaurant. The food is amazing. You can smell the bbq from the parking lot. Upon walking in you're greeted with upbeat staff and amazingly decorated walls of patriotism! . The pulled chicken was flavorful and moist, the Mac and cheese was velvety, creamy, and delicious, the green beans were on point and I kept going back for another bite! The manager stopped by our table to enquire about our meals and make sure that we were completely satisfied. Excellent all around!

First time here. Great experience. Super friendly staff, clean and great ambiance. Had the moist brisket, corn bread and coleslaw. Very good. The ice tea was great too. This is a great bbq spot. Go there. You will agree.

First the meaning of this place is enough to make you go check it out. When we got out of the car you could smell the great BBQ! We walked in to a very friendly staff, who continued the rest of the night to go beyond as a friendly staff- and last but not least the food was very, very good! The ribs were great, the chopped brisket was out of this world, and make sure you get the brisket chopped. Everything about this location was excellent & kudos to the staff! We will be returning to this location & other Mission BBQ-

Had a taste for some barbecue, checking out my local options keep it brief on my stop down by Blackwood barbecue that doesn't take cash and I was kind of looked at as if I were the dumb one for not having a card payment point of this review is on Mission barbecue happy I got sent down here Service and employee attitudes were great. First time in a great stop, especially on this particular holiday not knowing the interior theme is service related and a memorial to the many people they gave up their freedoms for ours. Many different sauces to choose from and the meats were done with a good smoked flavor. I will stop in to try things on the menu soon.

    Greeted in the lot!

Great atmosphere, excellent customer service. Great selection, brisket was a little dry but the sauces made up for it.

They have convenient signs that guide you to the cashiers. This place is actually fairly large. The staff is super friendly, and you get a large portion for the price. I got pork and chicken, macaroni and cheese, fries, and a corn bread. The chicken was a little dry, so I preferred the pork. Overall, good experience.

I've had a love/hate relationship with BBQ for some time now, Learning that I really don't like…read morethe taste of smoke when it's overwhelming. Also food that's TOO fatty gives me what I call the "Queasies". Thirdsome, I REALLY get a case of the red-ass when I have to dish out money for a feed I absolutely did not enjoy. We used to go to Uncle Bub's here often, but there wasn't enough to make us keep patronizing. Something put us off it, I can't recall what. Wife had heard/seen something that caught her eye and wanted to give it another shake, and I am usually amenable to that decision. We both swung with Combo plates-Ribs/Pulled Pork/Rib Tips/Brisket and Quarter Chix (Dark for me /White for Wife). I also had the Chili for starters. The Chili was pretty good-not spicy, and not bold in flavor, but a hearty bowl. Next time I'll ask for some crushed red to add. Moving on, My notes say the Ribs were hard and dry, not strong in taste, and not too fatty-that may have been the problem. The Pulled Pork was OK, but a bit adipose in consistency. The Tips were too fatty (as rib tips are supposed to be--what did I expect?) and I left them on the place after one small bite (To say I at least tried them) Brisket was ok, but I'm not a fan of brisket in general. I was beginning to think "Why in hell did I order a plate with stuff I know I don't enjoy in the first place?"--idiocy abounds! Now, the Chicken was another story-Moist and tasty, especially with the good selection of sauces on the table. Wife was full and did not finish most of her chix breast, and it wound up on my tray. I don't normally like chicken breast (I say it's food for people who don't like to eat), but surprisingly it was moist and yum. Really Yum with the house BBQ sauce applied. The star of the show, folks. The corn bread fell apart, and was pretty useless. The Greenie Beanies were edible, but not fabulous. Wife did not like ColeSlaw, but I did. The throw on the soft drinks was very good. If we come back it will be for the Chicken. I'll try the ribs again, 'cos like I said they were neither oversmoked or fatty. Epilogue: Wife ordered 2 smoked Turkey Breasts for Thanksgiving. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything special. Especially at $118 apiece! Slicing them the next day for sandwiches, the taste wasn't much better than the version I get at Mariano's for much less money. AAArrrrrgh! Caveat Emptor!

Stopped in on Fat Tuesday to take advantage of their Mardi Gras specials. They offer several…read moreCajun-inspired dishes year-round, and for the holiday they expanded the lineup even more. They also feature an extensive craft beer selection. I went with the seasonal Abita Bad Mother Shucker Stout, which was a fun nod to Mardi Gras and a solid stout choice for the occasion. For my entrée, I ordered the Mardi Gras Platter ($32.99). It included: * Choice of soup (I chose the seafood chowder) * Shrimp Creole * Jambalaya * Chicken Étouffée * Crawfish & Shrimp Monica * Broccoli The restaurant was busy, which is understandable for Fat Tuesday, but our food took quite a while to arrive. The soup was delivered at the same time as the platter. In my opinion, the soup should have come out first. Ironically, the seafood chowder ended up being the highlight of the meal--rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. Unfortunately, by the time I finished the soup and moved on to the platter, most of it was only room temperature. The items were layered and grouped together in a way that made it unclear what paired with what. The chicken was noticeably overcooked and lacked depth of flavor. It tasted as though Cajun seasoning had simply been sprinkled on top rather than developed into the dish. Overall, the platter lacked the bold, authentic Cajun flavor profile I was expecting. The Crawfish & Shrimp Monica was advertised as coming in a bowl but was served in what amounted to a cup-sized portion. The menu description listed Cajun Alfredo sauce, crawfish, crab, blackened shrimp, pasta, Parmesan cheese, and broccoli. After mixing in the Parmesan, I searched for the seafood components and found none--no visible crab, crawfish, or blackened shrimp in the pasta. I mentioned this to the bartender, who said they would bring some out to add in. A few minutes later, three Cajun shrimp were delivered. There was still no crab or crawfish. While the Alfredo sauce and pasta themselves were very good, the absence of the advertised proteins significantly hurt the dish. Had I ordered the Crawfish & Shrimp Monica on its own for $24.99 and received the same portion and lack of seafood, I would have been extremely disappointed. Overall, while the concept and menu sounded promising for Mardi Gras, the execution--especially at that price point--left a lot to be desired.

This place has gone through a number of makeovers over the years but it is decidedly a sports bar vibe where you enter the space and traditional restaurant in the back area. Overall a very casual and lively vibe. We waited about 15 minutes with a packed house and were seated in the restaurant portion in a very spacious booth. Our server was prompt, courteous, pleasant, and efficient--attentive but not overly so. The food was excellent with very ample portions at reasonable pricing with many options under $20. I will say they could skip the bread basket before your meal comes out and just put it into giving you a side with the sandwiches versus charging you $2 for each side added. That being said the food came out promptly, was warm, and very satisfying. Hopefully Chuck's keeps value for customers' hard earned buck in mind and they will continue to do well.
