Ordered a full slab rib dinner for delivery. What I got: 1. Ribs overcooked with a leather like consistency 2. Cole slaw that tasted like eating grass 3. Baked beans (pretty good) 4. Corn muffin with huge chunks in it. Only ate the beans and 2 ribs and threw everything else in garbage. Basically, I paid $51 for the baked beans and the aggravation! And $8 for a delivery that took one and a half hours! Talked to manager. Refused to give me a refund. What a bunch of scamming jerks! read more

Great local place for some bbq. They have plenty of indoor seating. They also offer carryout and catering. Of the meats of theirs that I have tried, my favorite is the pulled chicken. The pulled pork is decent, but I was disappointed in the turkey. (The turkey also had an upcharge which made it disappointing). For sides, I recommend the mashed potatoes or fries. I've had a love/hate relationship with BBQ for some time now, Learning that I really don't like the taste of smoke when it's overwhelming. Also food that's TOO fatty gives me what I call the "Queasies". Thirdsome, I REALLY get a case of the red-ass when I have to dish out money for a feed I absolutely did not enjoy. We used to go to Uncle Bub's here often, but there wasn't enough to make us keep patronizing. Something put us off it, I can't recall what. Wife had heard/seen something that caught her eye and wanted to give it another shake, and I am usually amenable to that decision. We both swung with Combo plates-Ribs/Pulled Pork/Rib Tips/Brisket and Quarter Chix (Dark for me /White for Wife). I also had the Chili for starters. The Chili was pretty good-not spicy, and not bold in flavor, but a hearty bowl. Next time I'll ask for some crushed red to add. Moving on, My notes say the Ribs were hard and dry, not strong in taste, and not too fatty-that may have been the problem. The Pulled Pork was OK, but a bit adipose in consistency. The Tips were too fatty (as rib tips are supposed to be--what did I expect?) and I left them on the place after one small bite (To say I at least tried them) Brisket was ok, but I'm not a fan of brisket in general. I was beginning to think "Why in hell did I order a plate with stuff I know I don't enjoy in the first place?"--idiocy abounds! Now, the Chicken was another story-Moist and tasty, especially with the good selection of sauces on the table. Wife was full and did not finish most of her chix breast, and it wound up on my tray. I don't normally like chicken breast (I say it's food for people who don't like to eat), but surprisingly it was moist and yum. Really Yum with the house BBQ sauce applied. The star of the show, folks. The corn bread fell apart, and was pretty useless. The Greenie Beanies were edible, but not fabulous. Wife did not like ColeSlaw, but I did. The throw on the soft drinks was very good. If we come back it will be for the Chicken. I'll try the ribs again, 'cos like I said they were neither oversmoked or fatty. Epilogue: Wife ordered 2 smoked Turkey Breasts for Thanksgiving. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything special. Especially at $118 apiece! We've been to most of the nearby BBQ restaurants. We've never been here, until now! Before you go into downtown Westmont, coming off 55th, it's on your left. They have convenient signs that guide you to the cashiers. This place is actually fairly large. The staff is super friendly, and you get a large portion for the price. I got pork and chicken, macaroni and cheese, fries, and a corn bread. The chicken was a little dry, so I preferred the pork. Overall, good experience. read more

I am glad I gave this local restaurant another try ever since my mediocre 2017 experience. In recent years, we have revisited for a quick family dinner and larger group meals. What we have tried and enjoyed are the following: 1) Rib tips, large 2) Pig picklin' pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides 3) Carri Lee's southern fried chicken dinner with 2 sides & cornbread 4) Pitmaster bologna sandwich 5) The everything platter I have always been a huge sucker for gourmet bologna sandwiches and this one definitely won me over. The smoked bologna was thick-cut and flavorful. Paired with the pulled pork, pepper jack cheese, and Carolina sauce, it was a finger-licking delicacy. We almost always order the rib tips because it's our young girls' favorite. Depending on our group size, we would either order the small or large appetizer because we want more of the rib tips. The dinner portion has less rib tips but it comes with two side dishes. Two other things to highlight: I really appreciate their vegetarian options such as vegetarian burger and sandwich. Most barbecue restaurants do not have this option outside of the side dishes. tried this restaurant for the first time for their restaurant week deal. We got the everything platter which comes out to $40 (with $17 savings). The bbq was good the sauces were delicious, but it's not out of this world, mainly because the food wasn't hot. It came warm and became cold fast, which led to some of the meat being a little tough. I did enjoy the ribs and the sauce that it came with. I LOVED the atmosphere. Everything was clean and the decor in there was so cute. I even saw some merchandise so I assume they have a lot of regulars. I also applaud their service. Many of the employees came to check in on us and offered to clear the table. Since our party ordered 2 of the everything platters, we had to move to a bigger table and the server was so helpful in getting us there. This is a casual, homestyle BBQ spot. We ordered the Sampler Platter and Mac Daddy on our first visit to try and get a good sense of the options. While the Chicago Burbs aren't known as a BBQ mecca, Uncle Bub's did a great job. Interestingly, the brisket in the Mac Daddy wasn't quite as good as the brisket in the Sampler Platter, and we did have some highs and lows with the meat options in terms of our favorites. I usually love brisket, but that wasn't where Uncle Bub's really shined. The Mac and cheese on its own was quite a hit, as were the garlic green beans. The baked beans were good, but nothing special. Finally was able to give Uncle Bub's BBQ a try after driving past countless times. My wife and I came here on a Sunday evening and it was empty so we had our pick of seats. We had comfortable booth seats and the inside of the restaurant was cozy but spacious. Since it was our first time we decided to share the sample platter with the garlic green bean & baked bean sides. The Mac Daddy (Mac and cheese with brisket) sounded good so we also ordered that to split. The platter was plenty of food for two people - we couldn't finish the beans but it was very good. The pulled pork, brisket and ribs were good, the rib tips were okay but the chicken stole the show. The right flavor of crispy but very moist chicken - I would order just chicken for my next visit. The Mac and cheese was just okay and most likely would skip ordering in the future. At each table there are different sauces to try - my personal favs are the spicy and bold gold. I love the dining room the booths are so comfortable and the atmosphere makes you feel like your eating outside. There are lights on the walls and the buffalo plaid tablecloths are a nice touch. A neighbor recommended this place for the ribs so we decided to try it out. My husband and I decided to get two sampler platters which was WAYYY too much food. We could have gotten away with just sharing one sampler platter between 2 people. The ribs were my favorite followed by the bbq chicken. I normally don't care for bbq chicken, but their chicken was super moist, smokey and tasty. The sides were okay and the cornbread was very good. They have a variety of bbq sauces to use, but I prefer their original bbq sauce. There is a small parking lot in front of the building, Sunday around 3:30 pm not a problem, not sure what is the parking like on Friday or Saturday night. The garlic green beans were true to their name; I enjoyed the unique approach verse the standard green beans. The Cole slaw was tangy and creamy. The restaurant has a rustic vibe to it, the staff were friendly and efficient. Surprisingly their to-go menu has no prices on it. My burnt-ends Hoagie was $18.Ribs were $20 for half, $33 for full. Chicken dinners start at $17, burgers start at $16, signature sandwiches start at $12 and ho up to $17. Burgers, sandwiches and dinners include two sides. We got the smoked turkey this year for Thanksgiving along with the stuffing, gravy and cornbread (we try to do a little of our own cooking!) It was all amazing! The stuffing tasted like it was cooked inside of the birds, moist and flavorful, not dry and crusty. The smoked turkey was a huge hit, everyone was raving about the flavor. They have options for catering the entire meal or mix and match if you have some dishes you're famous for making but need some professional help to complete the meal. Decided to have lunch at Uncle Bub's yesterday and it was a total mess. First of all it was 2:30 in the afternoon, place was empty, and it took a good 10 minutes to have someone wait on us. Received our order and noticed that we ordered the dinner but wanted the sandwich, so asked if I could get a bun, the waitress said yes but will take awhile. It was taking too long so went up to get it myself and the buns were just sitting in the counter. So by that time our bbq meat got cold, the buns were microwaved too long and got hard. I believe this is the best BBQ spot in the area. The best BBQ chicken I have ever had. Very tender and falls off the bone unlike any chicken I have ever had. Also have great pulled pork and brisket as well as generous sides. The BBQ sauce is also very good and they have other unique sauces for variety. The service and ambiance is very good, but if you are looking for something fancy this is not the place for you. The only criticism I would have is the inconsistency of their ribs. I have had ribs from uncle bubs that are tender, juicy and fall off the bone, but I have also had ribs that were very dry. I knew that Bub's had a chicken pot pie special tonight. My wife and I both ordered it. The dish was amazing. It is absolutely the best pot pie we've ever had. The crust was soft and not crumbly. The chicken was abundant and smoked. The vegetables were plentiful. To top it off, we got the pumpkin bread pudding to go. I think it's the best bread pudding I've ever eaten. Hadn't been here in some time, but the same bbq fan and I came back for more while on that side of town today. If you can find your way back to the counter (helped by all the arrows on the floor), you'll be faced with their huge menu. The clerk was patient, and they actually have two ordering stations, which is nice if the line is growing. I got the pulled pork with sides of fried mac and cheese (not sure what possessed me; as my companion put it, it was basically "the carbiest carb that ever carbed") and sweet potato fries (upcharge but worth it!); also comes with a teeny loaf of cornbread, which isn't the best or worst cornbread you'll ever eat. Himself got several meats (fave was brisket; he wasn't wowed by chicken) plus garlic green beans and mini corncobs (particularly enjoyed the latter). Atmosphere here is, well, bbq joint. There was some pretty wangy-twang music when we first arrived; he wondered aloud why bbq and country music has to go together -- maybe someone heard him because after that the music changed to oldies, which was better.
