Okay I love this place, service has been a miss the past few times I've been. And food. By the time we got salsa and plates our nachos were cold (which everyone else sitting at the bar top had chips and salsa when they got there we were sitting there staring at a plate of nachos we ordered wondering if the bartender was hand washing plates or something for us and we almost got up to get our own salsa bc it was sitting in an uncovered container by the bar) I'll still go back... but could really use some work on service. The time before this we were seated and 20 minutes later after asking more than once we left. I understand places are short staffed right now but when you have all of 10 people in the restaurant dining and a bartender and 2-3 servers...? I've been a server, bartender and a manager before and there's really no excuse to have that many people working and such poor service. read more

We've been passing this place for years and have always talked about trying it out but usually end up at another tex mex restaurant across the street. Today their patio was closed so my mom and I decided to finally try out Serrano's. The patio was nice and covered (it was raining,) and we were sat right away for lunch. Our waitress was friendly and brought out our drinks right away, as well as answered all our questions about the items on the menu and sauces. The food was...meh. Salsa was good (spicy-which I like!) but the chips were nothing special and didn't seem too fresh. We both ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga which looks beautiful, but was highly underwhelming. It was filled with mostly rice and a bit of chicken. I am a chimichanga fanatic and would have appreciated it to be stuffed with cheese, green chilies, onion...anything else. But nope, it was mostly rice in a fried tortilla. The sauce and refried beans were good and maybe we just didn't order the right thing, but I don't think I would choose to come back over some Tex-Mex competitors. read more

Worst "Mexican" food I have ever had and I have had some really bad Mexican food. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer since I had just seen a lady send back a Margarita, get a replacement and wasn't happy with that one either. The bartender waiting on her was none too friendly so the lady kept the replacement. Service was sloooow as the bartender appeared incapable of waiting on more than one person at a time. I ordered a Chimichanga. What I received was more of an Asian Chimichanga. It was filled with rice and little else. Took one bite. Then I tried their "refried" beans, so disgusting. Asked for the tab and left. The manager wanted to replace the meal but I wasn't optimistic and left. read more

For the amount I paid, the portion size was incredibly small. Service was subpar in top of that.

YOU LETTUCE DOWN, SERRANO'S, AND I WANT TO TACO BOUT IT. If you want to spend $13.00 for a plate of lettuce then order the Taco Salad. I'm not kidding - it was literally JUST A PLATE OF LETTUCE with a light sprinkling of cheese and a few triangles of an inedible tortilla as garnish. (They even screwed up the tortilla!) But for only $2.00 more you can have a couple strips of chicken! I called our server over and he had the decency to be embarrassed. He kindly brought me a little plate of fajita veggies with some chicken so I didn't have to stop at Taco Bell on the way home. (Would have been one star but for the friendly server. ) read more

I had been to Serranos way back when I first came to Texas. The only thing I remember about it was, it was expensive. This was prior to my Yelp days so thought I would try them again. Online I found they had a lower priced lunch menu. Headed over for lunch today. There is no easy way to get into their parking lot unless you come in from 183 up Lakeline. So I had to drive out of the way to get in. Walked to the front door and it was locked at 11:15. Walked to side of building thinking I have wrong door. Nope. Back to first set of doors and now they're open. Hostesses seat me immediately in a booth. Waiter is there within ten seconds. All I wanted was water. Decided on choose your own lunch. Chicken enchilada with verde sauce, charro beans, and salad with cilantro lime dressing. Two minutes and the salad is here, another minute and chips and salsa, three more minutes and hot dish with entrée arrives. Salad was a nice mix of greens, cheery tomatoes and carrots but unfortunately was topped with cheese. Poured the dressing over and it needs seasoning. Once salt and pepper added, it is good. Charro beans were okay. Eatable but not amazing. The enchilada was only 6 inches long, skimpy. It tasted like heat. That was all, just hot burning in my mouth. There was music playing the entire time, all in Spanish. The place is very loud. I did not think I got value for the money so I won't be back read more

We used Serrano's for catering and the food was fresh, tasty, and the tortillas were so yummy! Freshly made flour and also corn tortillas melt in your mouth! Gabriel delivered our food and he was early and the presentation of the food was also top notch! We will order from Serrano's again!! read more

I was disappointed with this. This was my first time ever dining at this restaurant after being recommended to go many times. Received a dirty glass with a red lipstick stain. Did not notice it until I put my straw in and drank from it for a while (while twisting the drink). Other than that the service and food was okay. read more

I place an online order. The order taker became frustrated over an entree versus a plate. I mean he works there. He kept asking me "What Else" as I placed my order. He kept cutting me off when I was speaking. He would not repeat the order back to me by saying I heard what you said. When the order was ready it was incorrect. The manager stated that it was probably my fault. And I thought he was a cool manager until today. I told him what happened and then he defended his guy by saying that he was overwhelmed and I needed to be more patient. I really dislike it when people try to play the victim. They remade the incorrect portion of the order while the rest of the order sat there and got cold. They showed little to no remorse for a mistake that they made. It did not have to happen if the phone guy showed any type of professionalism. I thought this would be a place to start eating again after the pandemic, but the service remains a major issue. read more

I remember coming to Serrano's as a kid and it was always so good. The last time I ate here I was so looking forward to a walk down memory lane and was disappointed. The chile relleno was so oily it was nearly inedible. I ate a few bites and couldn't stomach the rest. So greasy and soggy. No shape or flavor to it other than the oil it was fried in. I had a bite of enchilada and it was okay, nothing spectacular. The chips and salsa were disappointing as well. All of the servers were teenagers who weren't the most attentive or friendly. I don't think we got water refills the entire time we were there. Overall it was a disappointing experience I wish had gone differently. read more

We stopped into Serranos for dinner at about 6pm on a Thursday evening, and they were about to begin their dinner rush. Food: Chile con queso came out with two side plates under the plate holding the con queso, and both plates were wet and one had a hair on it. When we noted it to the waiter, he apologized, but didn't bring us new plates. The Chile Relleno with chicken had shredded chicken stuffed inside the pepper. Batter was so-so, and I opted for the creamy tomatillo sauce, served with Spanish rice and refried beans. The beef in the fajitas was overcooked. The only plus point was the homemade flour tortillas served alongside it. Service: Half-hearted. We had to continually ask for refills for the drinks. No refills were offered for the chips. Towards the end of our meal, my plate was cleared but my husband was still eating, and our server brought out the check with the credit card machine. Cost: Beef fajitas were $20! Our meal ran us $43.59 before tax. Overall: Our first impression was with the short and curly on a plate, and the rest of the experience followed suit. Our waiter didn't even attempt to offer us clean new plates, or even a discount for the hair, yet was proactive enough to bring us the check without us asking for it. We try to support local businesses as much as we can, but I can't say we'll be back any time soon to Serranos. read more

Happy Hour Review So me and my +1 have popped in here a few times for their HH. It seems every time that we are heading home my car is drawn into Serranos. You know you are a regular when the bartender says "Hey back again!". Cripes I need a new hobby. Any who, they have a great deal on beers and well drinks and I believe HH starts @3 and goes till 7PM. Daniel usually tends the bar and he is a personable bloke who makes sure your drinks are always full and you never want for chips or salsa. If you are in the area and want to pop in for a HH adult beverage or two this is a good option. Someday I will order food and update my review. Cheers! read more

We have only gotten delivery from this restaurant. The delivery always takes a while (through Ubereats), but the food has always arrived warm and okay. It's not as long as some other restaurants' wait times, it normally takes 40-50minutes and we live within 5 miles of this location. There are some vegetarian / vegan options, but you really have to double check. If you have a lot of food allergies or restrictions, make sure you check the order when it arrives. And be aware, it's likely to have had contact with everything / cross contamination. That being said, my husband loves the food. We have ordered a lot of different things from the menu, and they've all been quite good. It tastes like they make most of it from scratch. I like that they give us the chips & salsa as if we were there for a sit-down experience. The price is okay. It seems good to me for the amount of food & quality. I think the servings were pretty good. It isn't the cheapest, but that is fine. I like the food. I feel like they could work on labeling things already on their menu as veggie / vegan & how many calories it is. A lot of their food already on the menu is possible to make vegetarian (vegan if without cheese). It's just more effort to go through what you can eat if you have allergies / specific diet restrictions. Who knows, maybe it is just their online menu that is wonky with labels. Perhaps they can also add more vegetarian options in the future, and make the delivery process go faster. They could make the takeout / delivery packaging more eco friendly as well. When Covid-19 is over, perhaps we will visit for dine in. Overall 4**** stars. read more

Serranos is my favorite chain Mexican Restaurant. No they not as good as mom and pop. But they have consistent taste and quality so whatever dish you like it will be consistent. I like there cheese enchiladas with Chile con carne and there Tacos are great. I personally do not like there authentic Mexican fajitas but try them out decide for yourself. Food is good, prices are reasonable. They were able to fit big parties and food came out quick.

Great food. FAST SERVICE! The new decor looks nice but we really enjoyed the old look. Still a nice place to eat.

I really hope they make it because of all the money that was probably spent to renovate the place, but we will not be going back. SO if the owners care or wonder why people are not coming back here are a few reasons: The inside looks better than it did before, but it pretty much ends there. Went in for lunch and was approached by a man (manager?) who said 2 for lunch? and that's it. No greeting, no welcome to Serrano's, no nothing. He just grabbed a couple of menus and off he went as we followed. The place has the hardest chairs I have ever felt. The music is HORRIBLE. It sounds like you are on a Mexican acid torture trip. I've heard a lot of very beautiful Mexican music in my lifetime, but you will not get it here. It's loud and the singers are screaming at you, not singing. So if you are trying to have a nice meal forget it, your nerves are going to be shot. The food has big enough portions, but the taste is mediocre compared to other places in the area. Flour tortillas were tough and chewy like they had been warmed in a microwave. Service is spotty at best. Server started sweeping the floor and kicking up dust as we and several people were still eating. NOT OK. Man just watched and did not say anything to her. read more

Waiter was very nice and attentive! Got the queso (same as most places and bland). Chips looked and tasted like grocery store brand but the salsa was spicy, fresh and delicious! Got the Shrimp tejanos to start- yummy but $14.50 for only 4. Onto the star which was Pollo Loco. Grilled chicken thighs but sliced thin, almost like breast cutlets. Juicy, smoky and delicious. Served with pico which was very fresh and spicy, charro beans, rice and mixed tortillas. The corn tortillas were homemade, thicker than normal and super flavorful. Perfect to make little tacos with. Would definitely recommend this entree! read more

Good food, good service and good drinks. My friend and I were very happy with our dinner.

Do yourself a favor: eat somewhere else! The incompent host gave our Open Table reservation to someone else. He was very confused about their reservation system. Even though the restaurant was 2/3 empty, he tried to seat us by the bathrooms in a tight corner. When we (party of 2) asked for a decent table he told us we'd have to wait until people arriving were seated. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. This kid should not be delivering newspapers let alone working in a customer service role. Too many better choices available to waste time at Sotos. read more

During covid, we did a lot of takeouts and Serranos was consistently on time, delicious and our order was correct. Just ate there tonight and the food was delicious and the service was great. Favorite things here are Cheese Enchiladas, tacos, salad, tortilla soup, nachos, and tortillas. I find the fajitas could use improvement though. The meat is bland and not very tender. read more

Serranos with its outdoor seating, clean tables and friendly staff is almost always a go to location for the family. It is not too expensive, and the food is always fantastic. Even when they are slightly busy, or even a lot busy, the bar area is filled with chairs and it is quite easy for a family of four to chow down without creating a ruckus or starting the food fight. The staff even does a great job fending off the occasional homeless person who wanders in looking for, well, whatever they look for. Go ahead and go you'll be glad you did. read more

We've come here few times for the enchiladas which I really like. Thursday must have been a really off night, first we had an extensive wait (along with another couple also) for the hostess to even come to acknowledge us standing there. Second issue was my margarita had not one, not two but THREE bugs in it. I showed it to the waiter and he just offered to get me a new one. No apology, no visit from the manager or even to comp something. I feel they need to step up their customer service game considerably not to mention up the level of cleanliness and awareness of what they are serving. read more

We love Serranos in general and recently visited the location by Lakeline Mall. Our experience was all-around enjoyable and the food was absolutely delicious! Ana was our waitress and was fantastic! She had a calm, yet friendly demeaner and was really good about stopping by to check on us regularly. The manager stopped by as well to see if we needed anything. In my opinion, this is always a good sign about how well a restaurant is managed. We made sure to mention to him how wonderful Ana was. The food was so good! I got the shrimp enchiladas and my husband got the chicken fajitas. Our food was hot, which is always a good thing, of course. We are regulars so needless to say, we will be back again and again at this location and also the one on 1431 in Cedar Park. read more

final update: i called the store after being IGNORED by the GM. she said she would call me back but several hours later, nothing. luckily, i talked to Avery and he was VERY helpful, professional and kind!!! thank you Avery for taking responsibility and accountability of your GM and owner, i'm not your boss but you deserve a raise and/or promotion!!! Avery is the best!! our waitress forgot about our drinks until i asked about them, as well as the table next to us. i didn't ask for their drinks lol but they did hear me ask for mine and had told us their drinks were forgotten too! the ground beef nachos were mediocre , it was strange to me having only tomatoes on top but no lettuce or pico de gallo to go along with the nachos. also, the remodel was very underwhelming on the inside, definitely is cleaner but not the same serranos vibe. i called to discuss my experience with the general manager and fortunately she picked up the phone but to my dismay, she was very causal and unapologetic of the problems i had at her establishment. i was very surprised by this as one would think the GM of a store would step and take accountability but my answer was: "you should've told me, i was there that day." how should a customer know when the GM is in the store and not in the store?? that answer was completely unprofessional and biased. will not be coming back here again joshua c, if your the store owner and seeing this, please contact me. read more
