I came to this space on my lunch break. The lady at the front a Hispanic lady gave attitude told me it would be 5 minutes I sit here and wait as I sit . I see that other people are walking up and getting sat. After I noticed I walked up and spoke to the manager to advise that hey I have been sitting here waiting to get a table as and other are being seated. I just wanted to walk out but let him be aware he advised that I do apologize but please allow me to make it up . I stated I don't even feel comfortable because I know now that I have complained I won't be give the best service. He sat me down and took my order . This was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences we've had. We called to place a to-go order and the employee who answered asked us to hold. She set the phone down and never came back. We stayed on hold for over 15 minutes while we could clearly hear dishes in the background. No one ever returned to the phone. After waiting that long, we walked into the restaurant while still on hold. As expected, the place wasn't busy at all. The same employee who left us on hold then took our order. What made the situation worse was the response from management. A man who said he was one of the managers approached us and we calmly explained what had happened. Instead of apologizing or being concerned, he immediately became defensive and confrontational. It was surprising to see a manager respond that way rather than take responsibility for the situation. Leaving customers on hold for 15+ minutes and then responding with disrespect when it's brought to your attention is unacceptable. Very disappointing experience. read more

The crew is almost always friendly and attentive (there's been a few that were not the best, but all good). The bar is always hoppin (yes, there is a HH) and they have a great margarita flight - so good and not weak at all! Anytime I need a real good Tex-Mex fix, this is my spot! We decided to try this place again, we had a much better time, our server was fast, friendly, and checked in with us. They were not gone for long periods of time, nor did they follow up every 2 minuties. The food was pretty good, the drinks were well made and the decor was fun. The place was pretty full but we never felt like we waited on anything for too long. Glad we gave it another shot, my fajitas were good, as is the case with most single orders anywhere I wish it had 2 to 3 more chicken pieces but still it worked well. Texican Café Lakeline is located off Pecan Park Blvd and Research Blvd. The restaurant offers a "El Paso Style Mexican Food" ...not sure what means as the food was traditional Mexican to me. However, the name implies that it is Mexican with some type of Texan twist. OMG Texican Café is an enigma. Normally, when I go to a Mexican restaurant there usually a few tried and true interior themes: Traditional - Colorful Saltillo tiles, Papel picado, mariachi, cultural murals. Fiesta/Cantina - Bold colors, tequila & margarita focus. Rustic Hacienda - Warm earth tones, wood, wrought iron. Modern - Sleek, minimalist, artistic, trendy vibe. Street-Style Taqueria - Casual, graffiti/chalkboard menus. Cultural - Day of the Dead, regional Mexican crafts. Texican was none of these. I felt like I had walked into a sci-fi movie with colorful abstract fixtures, bold in your face colors, 3-D dimensions of wall art...it was an artistic haven. With this somewhat jolting and simultaneously welcoming interior, I absolutely did not know what to expect. While I was at business lunch, my sensory glands were on alert and working overtime. We ordered enchiladas, and hard-shell taco plates (chicken and beef), which came with refried beans (not my favorite in general...prefer charro beans) and Spanish rice. The food taste was traditional in nature and not greasy at all. The meal came with chips and salsa. Surprisingly, the chips were the standout with a Frito and tortilla chip combined texture...these fresh and crunchy chips were quite addicting. Our chip bowls emptied fast. The salsa also had a kick to it. Our servers were extremely attentive first bringing our drink orders - tea and water in large 32-ounce glasses and replacing those glasses a second time before the end of the meal. I met my daily water intake requirement at lunch...for sure! Texican has indoor seating and outdoor seating with a covered patio, where you can smoke outside. I had not seen a sign on the door promoting smoking in quite in some time. Also, there is ample parking as the restaurant as it is in a strip mall area.'' We were a bit disappointed last night when we decided to sit on the patio since it was a beautiful evening and soon smelled cigarette smoke. Two ladies had lit up and the smell of course wafted through the patio. We were surprised smoking is still even allowed in restaurants. Was not the best experience due to this. All patrons should be able to enjoy the outside patio without being exposed to second hand smoke! Eating here was the perfect end to a day of shopping at the nearby mall. The waitress was super friendly and a delightful person in general. I went to this restaurant for the first time today. It is near the Lakeline mall. We went for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant, it is extremely authentic, Mexican, including the music and bright colors. I could smell the fresh chips as I stood in the lobby. I was greeted promptly and brought to a booth. I was then greeted promptly by a server and served freshly made chips and salsa, which was quite tasty. The menu is extensive. They seem to have just about everything one could want. This restaurant is Mexican not Tex-Mex. It is really really good. I got crunchy tacos with rice and beans. My husband got beef fajitas. Both of us were extremely pleased with our meal. They have a special lunch menu from 1 to 4 during the week and a brunch menu on the weekend. Their prices are quite reasonable even without special menus. The price of my dish was $12.95. I will definitely be back the next time I visit the Lakeline Mall! We've lived down the road for the past 6 years, but finally made our way over. From the outside, this place reminds me of the many chain steak houses (probably why we never gave it a try), but when you walk in, you are welcomed by friendly faces and a well kept interior. We ordered the beef fajitas (1lb) to go and absolutely loved our dish. It was more than enough food for 4 servings. The steak felt like a flavor bomb in your mouth, the fresh made flour tortillas were cooked to perfection, and the extra extra crispy chips and salsa were the cherry on top. We also ordered a kids quesadilla with ground beef, which ended up being this monster of a cheesy beef taco that he had to eat over two meals. Honestly, I would have been happy with that alone. I have loved the Texican for over 27 years! And their queso à la paria is one of my "must haves" when I am in Austin or nearby towns. Surface is always friendly and quick (as long as they are not super busy). The outdoor seating is covered and very pleasant as long as it is not freezing cold in the winter or over 100 in the summer. Ordered a taco salad for lunch.paid $2 extra for fajita chicken. Was so excited for this lunch. Got back to work to enjoy my food and was so disappointed i ate less than half and threw the rest away. By far, Texican Cafe is my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant to visit. Why, because everything is better. Chips are rich and thick and crispy. I ordered their Tortilla soup which the wait staff carefully pours the broth over the soup ingredients in the bowl and bountiful beautifully garnished with bright green avocado slices and lots of shredded white chicken. Served with cheese and pico on the side. Perfectly seasoned and an awesome 4min ticket time for this appetizer. I ordered a house salad. Fresh. The only negative is too many carrots as carrots are old school and no cheese. Would like to see chunk cheese like goat. Next up I ordered both the stuffed chicken avocados and the sour cream enchiladas. Avocados were awesome and had plenty of leftover. The sour cream enchiladas had excellent seasoned chicken and rice and beans awesome too. I try not to review drinks but if you sit at the bar, the bar tenders are the most multitasking humans on the planet and make a stiff top shelf while also handling your food order. Nice job. I haven't eaten here in years. The food used to be good. I ordered a chimichanga. Soggy tortilla wrapped around a lump of canned chicken. That's right, canned chicken, dry and tasteless, tasted like the cheapest canned chicken you can buy at a grocery store. That was all that was in it, despite what the menu said, it had nothing else inside. Covered with what appeared to be salsa verde, which was more like green vinegar, sour and revoltingly inedible. Rice was bland, also tasteless, like something from a a huge vat of generic plain orange rice. Beans was more like bean puree, almost a liquid, technically pinto beans but more like mashed bean flavored goo. The food was cheap, cheaply prepared and very cheap ingredients. The booths are a bit small, especially with all the food you will get but maybe the tables are larger. Speaking of food, there were generous portions and the food was not overly spicy. For those that can't do gluten, they have corn tortillas and lettuce as well. This was nice. There was a large supply of toppings as well. The flan was really good as well. I highly recommend it. Tex-Mex is another favorite cuisine of mine and from recommendations of friends, I was very much looking forward to my visit to the Texican Cafe. With several local outlets, the Texican Cafe has a pretty varied but traditional menu. The restaurant is casual and comfortable with friendly service. Beyond that however, I didn't find the food to be exceptional in any manner. Chips were fresh but the salsa was unremarkable other than leaning toward the hot side. Queso was greasy and didn't even look very appetizing. Dinner entree portions are generous but just didn't stand out to me and tasted like they were freshly thawed. My tacos Del Mar were cooked but the tortillas quickly became wet and fell apart as I picked them up to eat. Frankly, for a mid-market offering, the prices were on the high side. In terms of taste and value, I would much prefer to go to Trudy's which has similar menu offerings but executed better and a little less expensive. read more
