It's noon!

This strip mall in the CP could turn out to be a foodie gold mine. There is Sushi Moto at one corner and Ecuadorian Chocolate at the other end and almost next door sits Los Reyes. With the abundance of Mexican restaurants in the area, Los Reyes can easily be overlooked but not anymore for us. We stopped by for breakfast and it's an easy 4 plus star review. Plus one ordered her favorite carne guisada with brown gravy. Do not try and serve her red gravy! Her review "this tastes just like my moms". And yes, her mom was a great cook. My huevos rancheros was one of the best this side of the Rio Grande. My eggs were perfect over easy but the star was the potatoes. Cooked perfectly with just the right amount of spice. Speaking of spice the salsa is legit thick and with a bit of a kick. I left full and was good to go until dinner time. Service was wonderful, period. We are looking forward to returning for dinner and Marghies!

Grabbed carry out from Los Reyes over the weekend, very happy with it! Simple order... caldo de pollo and el mexican plate with fajita chicken and barbacoa. When picking up, I needed one more hand, so one of the waiters followed me out to my car with the rest of the order! That was nice... the restaurant itself is larger than you'd like from the outside. It's in the corner of a strip mall, and opens up in a wedge shape when you walk in. The caldo de pollo was probably one of the best we've had in ATX! Delicious! The single order of the soup came with three whole chicken thighs, skin on... a good clue as to why the soup is so good! Whole bone-in chicken thighs, with skin, a great base for the soup. The meats in the plate were good. The barbacoa was a bit on the salty side, likely from cooking down a bit on the stove, still tasty though. The beans and rice were good too! A complimentary bag of chips with salsa was not requested but was included in the order. Another nice touch! We'll try Los Reyes again soon. Recommend you do too...!

We absolutely love this family owned business. We go 2 to 3 times a week. Great service. Awesome food. And great drinks. So totally thumbs up all the way around.

Feels like eating in grandmas kitchen good food Good service and a pleasant warm environment Spot on Will be back

Worlds Best Chipotle Chicken Tortilla Soup

Roads are clear but the weather is still cold. Immediately I think of Los Reyes and Mike's special Chipotle Chicken Soup. It's kind of like tortilla soup but 10 times better. I've been eating at Los Reyes since Mike and his family opened it 20 plus years ago. The menu selection and quality of food has consistently gotten better. Los Reyes remains on 'My Keepers List'.

I've actually been here a few times and always get lost in the food and company that I forget to take pictures and write reviews. Well not this time. However , it was a small order but the food was perfect. I don't push how amazing the meal is here ,but the service is always fantastic. Typically high school or early college kids as well. So, it's fun and fast. The food is vast. So much. So good. This time I ordered the papsitos nachos with chicken and since it was cinco de Mayo - a mango margarita. When I do decide to eat Mexican away from my home this is my go to spot every time.

Chicken Monterrey

Ordered Chicken Monterrey Black beans were really good Chicken looks like crap, seems like it was boiled and not sautéed. Onions and greens peppers the same. It's supposed to be grilled.

Chicken Enchiladas

The waiter was very nice so this review is not a reflection of him but the food was really not good at all. The chicken enchiladas I order were simply the worst I've had and the rice was so bland. I tried just picking at the chicken in the enchiladas so I could avoid the soup of cheese but the chicken was too bland. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the food here and will not be returning.

I had the most amazing server last night. I didn't get his name, but mentioned to him how amazing his service was. He got my family of six seated fairly quickly he checked on us frequently he was just so amazing all around. The food was amazing. My kids usually never finish all their food but they did.. Definitely will be back. (found out his name was Quan)

The rice is white with peas and carrots, like they do in the interior. The pepper is more likely to be chipotle. There are some excellent fish (usually black drum) and shrimp dishes. And IMO the portion sizes are perfect, not demanding the carry out box every single time. The bar is also good, and if you're going to treat yourself, yes, they'll use Clase Azul tequila and do it well. The interior has been redone a bit, mostly in the tables, since we were last there, and it's an improvement. They still have the garage-style roll-up doors for opening up to the patio in good weather. (Not today, thanks, too hot out.) The mole enchiladas had good flavor, but they could have benefited from a little more mole sauce and a thinner tortilla to better complement the dish. I also ordered the Tacos Del Mar with beef, and unfortunately they seemed a bit light on the meat. On a positive note, the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive throughout the meal, frequently checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Our drinks were always refilled before we had a chance to ask, and our glasses never sat empty. The outstanding service definitely made the dining experience more enjoyable.

I did ask to try aleida's sauce, which many people liked on yelp, but we liked their green sauce the most! Overall, very cute and colorful restaurant; loved all the decor. The outdoor patio, where we sat, was covered and nice, until it started pouring hard outside. Not a super authentic latin restaurant. No complimentary chips and salsa. My taco wasn't worth more than $5, tbh, and we paid close to $9..given it was shrimp, but we've had much better shrimp tacos elsewhere for less. I should've reacted to my first impulse when I walked in. Leave! Now! The booming, loud and annoying music was almost unbearable. I stayed and ordered the #3 lunch combination. The chips were good, but I much prefer a thinner white corn chip. The red salsa was very good; the creamy stuff was bland. The rice and beans were above average. The guacamole was a mess. It was bland, and the whole tostada--with guacamole, lettuce and chopped tomatoes--was slathered in something sweet and weird. I just pushed it aside. Excellent crispy taco shell, but the carne molida was dry, overcooked and disappointing. The cheese enchilada was awful. Wrong cheese. I prefer (correct) American, not cheddar. But it was good quality cheddar and not that stringy, bubble gum consistency stuff I run into occasionally. There was only a trace of what I assumed was supposed to be the chili con carne gravy (per the menu) so I requested more gravy which was thin, bland and somewhat tomato tasting, not chili con carne sauce. I ate the rice, beans, taco and a couple bites of enchilada--and left hungry. The service was outstanding.
