The Rico bowl used to be delicious! But, where is the pico de gallo and the sour cream? They also wanted to charge me for green sauce and a lime slice, which they never did before and then charged me $10.50 for this...? Rice is cheap! Look at all that rice! Do me a favor please go somewhere else.

Decided to get take-out dinner at a different place than we normally patronize. Decided on El pollo Rico, because it's close and the menu was interesting. When I arrived around 7 pm, the store was not busy. I wondered how good the food was b/c I expected some business due to the time. Ordering was easy. I ordered at the counter, but they have a kiosk too, if you are people adverse . The food came out to me very quickly under 5 min. When I got home, we were surprised at the portion size. Very hearty portions. We could have order a single item and our hunger would have been satisfied. Had the Papa Asada and the Burrito. The food was fine. Not overly seasoned and had flavor. Would we come back. Yes. Would I seek this place out? It didn't provide us with the wow impression. Posted an updated menu with prices.

Not sure why it's taken so long to do this review... perhaps it's because we have El Pollo Rico so often! Usually 2-3x per month. We generally get the same thing... a whole chicken with the sides (beans, rice, onions, salsas). The food is simply good! Our "go to" for a last minute meal. We've also had the Caldo de Pollo (chicken soup), which is also good. Easy dinner via the drive thru lane! Recommend El Pollo Rico, give them a try!

We haven't been to El Pollo Rico in years but we always love their food. Stopped by at this location since we were in the area and it was mind blowing! I have never seen an El Pollo Rico this big and the best of all...they have a drive-thru!! SERVICE (DRIVE-THRU ONLY): We jumped into the drive-thru line and it moved pretty fast. They have a huge menu board for the customers to clearly see everything, but we already knew what we were going to order. The lady who took our order was good and efficient; speaking loudly and asking questions to confirm our order! FOOD: We got their WHOLE CHICKEN MEAL (comes with grilled half onion, corn or flour tortillas, lime(s), green sauce, salsa, and two sides which we picked refried beans and plantains), and TAQUITOS with beef. Their whole chicken was as fresh and delicious as we remember. We love this SPICY GREEN SAUCE (I don't mind drinking that thing with a straw), and grilled onion!!! We also got an extra order of PLANTAINs which was SO GOOD! I don't care much for their TAQUITOS because the beef was too dry for my liking. VERDICT: All-in-all, this location is by far the best (we have been to one on Lamar Blvd and one right off of highway 79 and Mays St), so if we happen to crave charcoal grilled chicken again, we will definitely come to this location!

The last time I visited this El Pollo Rico was prior to the pandemic. The chicken is still great. We enjoyed everything that we got. I did notice that the bar that they had in there before has been all but dismantled. I'm sure it's one of the results of the decline in business during the pandemic. The chicken was cooked perfectly - - moist and delicious. We absolutely loved the generous amount of fillings on the nachos and the baked potato with the chopped chicken was delicious! I certainly will be back more often!

The food is always very good but those soda machines are never working. The owner needs to get them replaced at the front and back.

Aleida's is a hidden treasure in a strip center near Summer Moon Coffee. The interior is lush with greenery and large wall length colorful mural. Today I noticed two walls of photos and paintings highlighting the Latin culture. This is a family owned business and it shows. The food feels like a its made with love. The flavors and presentation are personal. I ordered plantain (of course!), a corn breakfast taco with chicken and some Venezuelan flan. All were exceptional. My server was super personable and Texas friendly. He pleasantly persuaded me to try the Venezuelan flan because it was made by his mom. It does not take much for me to get weak at knees for dessert. The eggs Benedict that I had to pay 13 for was cold and plastic like on dry sourdough bread. I went for Mother's Day for a nice day out with some friends and I'm not a mother yet but good Lord I felt second hand embarrassment for the staff here if this is what Mother's get for their sacrifice. A hostess actually said "you should have told me" about where we sat. It was ridiculous. We literally waited 45 minutes. I could have and should have driven home in that time. It was so stupid. Seriously not good. Don't go. BleCh. Wish I could leave no stars. Negative!!!

She set the phone down and never came back. We stayed on hold for over 15 minutes while we could clearly hear dishes in the background. No one ever returned to the phone. After waiting that long, we walked into the restaurant while still on hold. As expected, the place wasn't busy at all. The same employee who left us on hold then took our order. What made the situation worse was the response from management. A man who said he was one of the managers approached us and we calmly explained what had happened. Instead of apologizing or being concerned, he immediately became defensive and confrontational. It was surprising to see a manager respond that way rather than take responsibility for the situation. Leaving customers on hold for 15+ minutes and then responding with disrespect when it's brought to your attention is unacceptable. Very disappointing experience.

Grandsons were out of the country for Christmas and we wanted to give them their gift and take them to lunch. I gave them several options based on yelp recommendations and they decided they wanted to try Venezuelan food. Great choice boys!!! This property is smallish but quaint with adequate seating for lucky diners who have experienced the food and have come back or for first timers like our party. Wilson who took care of us provided exceptional service, and made excellent suggestion as to what we should try. All of us had had empanadas before, but that was the extent of our knowledge of their delicious menu. We did indeed get the Empanada Sampler which had four different mini empanadas. Combo of fried corn dough stuffed with ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, and cheese with cilantro, and garlic aioli. We cut them up so that everybody could experience them. Best ever! Cooked perfectly, golden brown, and delicious! We also tried a beef & cheese stuffed Arepa. It was huge and also stellar! Based on Wilson's advice two of us tried the Pabello Criolla :Shredded beef accompanied with rice, black beans, fried sweet plantains, avocado, fried cheese and a fried egg on top. It was so tasty!!! My grandson that's a pasta lover tried the Fosforera Linguini -Seafood linguini Venezuelan style. He enjoyed it. The serving size is more than adequate so we all took part of our meal home to enjoy for dinner that night. The one diner that was not open to trying non-familiar food really enjoyed his Bacon Cheeseburger with all the toppings and properly salted home-made fries. He rarely if ever compliments food but said it was the best burger he's had in quite some time and he really liked the fries too so there is SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE at FOGONERO. I also have to add that every one of our dishes was seasoned to perfection and I'm sure that added to our enjoyment of them. I would highly recommend that you travel to Cedar Park (from near and far) and give this delightful restaurant a try!!

If you haven't tried it and are worried about it being packed come during the weekday at lunch.

Went on Sunday after Easter service because we were craving something a friend brought us during a…read morerecent meal train but felt it a bit lacking. First, the menu needs a rewrite for content and clarity. For example, buying fajitas doesn't list guacamole and based on size, single, for two and family you get more sides of rice or beans. There's no definition of how much actual meat you get and our server couldn't provide that information beyond a rough estimate. Second, the fajitas we got of family size and for two portions for 7 were not consistently cooked. We asked for medium rare and got about 25% at that with the ones in the center at a more well done. Again, the multiple tiny sides were more obnoxious than anything as it's legit beans and rice unless you want to upcharge. The cilantro lime rice tastes like nothing so skip that and go for abuelita rice which has a hint of flavor. Overall, the butter/gravy that go on the fajitas is the real winner but again a menu where you overbuy and misunderstand (that doesn't even list extras like guacamole or a simple small queso) was beyond frustrating. I would stick to them for one to possibly get a better cook.
