Honestly the charge for every small thing and I get that, that's the business side of things but it does feel very nickel and diming you. We have been craving great Mexican food since moving to Texas and (don't hate me!) have been disappointed. Stumbled on this place while headed to Hoody's and it was packed so we popped in. Seat yourself - nothing fancy. The vibe here is local Mexican restaurant. The server was nice but became more engaged when I spoke Spanish to her. She greeted us with chips and two warm bowls of charro beans, which were absolutely delicious. My husband had a Cuban-style torta which was huge and he inhaled. It's not a Cubano - it's a traditional torta with ham and cheese added. He had fajita steak in his and said it was phenomenal. Honestly we could have split this and both been full. I have the taquitos plate. I went with chicken breast and al pastor (2 of each). Came with optional cilantro and onions (don't skip) and grilled onions/pepper plus a side. I couldn't finish it. The chicken was soooo good - very flavorful and not dry, some of the best chicken breast I've had in a while. This place has some pretty good tex-mex. I'm from San Antonio and we have a Mexican restaurant on every corner, so I know good Tex-Mex food. The food is good. I've had the Enchilada Plate 8/10, Pozole 9/10, and Menudo 9/10. Service here is always great and comes with a smile. The wait staff are very attentive and sure you haver what you need. Taquerias Arandias (TA) came highly recommended from a friend. The restaurant was touted as having authentic Mexican food with no bells and whistles. Having grown up in San Antonio where there is amazing Mexican food, I have a very high bar. The menu was in both Spanish and English with traditional Mexican dishes you might expect like enchiladas, tortas, and fajitas. The food was hot and flavored well. I met a friend for brunch at TA. She ordered a taco, and I ordered the breakfast plate. The meal came with complementary chips and salsa. We both liked our dishes. The red salsa was tasty and bit spicey at the same time. Overall, the food was good. We had two servers Jose and Mary. Jose primarily told "knock, knock" jokes to keep us entertained. Mary was our primary food server. Both individuals were very friendly. Once again this place doesn't disappoint!! The tortilla soup was excellent perfect temperature and I got it without the tortilla strips cause the chips and green salsa is the BEST!! Got a unsweet tea with it! It's soooo good! I've been coming here for years and through the price increases and staff changes... it's still excellent!! Its a hole in the wall place but I highly recommend it! I was giving it 5 stars but when I went to pay... I couldn't figure out why I was getting an upcharge of $2 the tortilla soup was $12.99 and they added $2 then the amount for the ice tea then they wanted a tip all before they knew if I was paying by card or cash. Unfortunately I have to downgrade my previous experience due to portion, price and quality of the food does not math. I do come to this location quite often but the price have been sneaking up and the selections to mix and match have been limited. The quality is not improving so it could be better. Last week we noticed that the physical menu has change and the waitress even admitted that the menu is the same but the price change. We get inflation but when price go up, we didn't expect the portion size to come down for profit. After a long, exhausting day of traversing the United States to get to Austin I needed to find some late night eats. I came with two culinary goals in mind during my stay, get good BBQ and authentic Mexican food. I found many Mexican establishments close to where I'm staying, however several were closed, but then I saw Taquerias Arandinas. They are open late and had many good reviews online. I went and am so glad I did. Upon entry, I was warmly greeted and told to sit where I like. Within a minute or two I had a menu in hand and complimentary chips and two salsas. The chips were warm, which is always a detail I appreciate when received at the table. In addition to the chips and salsas, a complimentary bowl of charro beans were served. The menu has a lot of items, and while I had a difficult time narrowing my choice down to one, I ultimately ordered four tacos: two barbacoa and two barbacoa adobada seasoned. I also ordered a side of guacamole and agua de Jamaica. I noticed a few things while waiting for my food. The interior is clean and decorated like the home of an abuela. Mexican music is played loudly while the servers moved with efficiency and accuracy, delivering hot and fresh orders as the kitchen rips them out. Also, during my dining experience I'd guess that the customer base remained at a 95+% the entire time. It's always a good sign when customers of the same ethnicity as the type of food being served patronize an establishment. It felt good being here. The food arrived and I dug in. Everything I ate out a smile on my face, from the complimentary chips, salsas, guacamole and tacos. The atmosphere is what I did not expect but is also exactly what I was looking for. The staff were great, friendly and attentive. I definitely plan on returning during my very short stay in Austin before my departure. Unfortunately, I did not snap any photos of the food because I was so eager to dig in and once I realized I should have taken some photos it was too late. Update: I told a friend about this place, who was also visiting Austin while I was there, who wanted to have authentic Mexican food before he left. This place is tried and true. It smells great and you will most likely smell like the restaurant even after you leave. The food and the service are very consistent which is a plus. It's a small venue and can get a little crowded during lunchtime but I've never had to wait very long. They were accommodating of my stroller which was appreciated. Their daily lunch specials are all good. I'm partial to the chiles rellenos. This past time, I went on a Sunday for lunch so I had the enchiladas with suiza sauce. They were spectacular! When it's time to pay, you will pay at the cash register. So don't forget, like we did, and wait around at the table longer than you have to lol. read more

This is truly my favorite mexican restaurant to eat at with my family! We have been going for years and never once had bad service or food. Everything we have ate over the years has always been hot & delicious. My favorite go to is the mojarra frita. Ive had it at other restaurants in other cities & they just don't compare. I also love that they give you bowls of charro beans with your chips when you first sit. They're so good. We have to try not to get full off them. It is a smaller restaurant definitely but I never feel crowded when sitting even when its full. The waitresses always take care of everyone in a timely manner. Came here for a dinner while on a field trip with my work and overall I'd say it was a pleasant experience. The service was pretty good, the food wasn't bad and the location was fairly convenient. I got the spinach enchiladas and they weren't the best thing I could have gotten but they sounded good especially since this was my first visit so I didn't know what to try first. I came to this restaurant for lunch today with my son. I have never been here before. I was lured into the restaurant because of their claim of authentic Mexican food. In my opinion, that claim is inaccurate. This is not like the food I've had in Mexico. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a mop and bucket, with a very pungent smell of dirty soap water. That was a bit unsettling and stinky. Definitely did not trigger an appetite. It's a seat yourself restaurant. I was greeted promptly by my server, Maria. Maria was very kind and courteous and efficient . I purchased chicken tacos, rice and beans. I also ordered guacamole. The guacamole was good. The chicken tacos, rice and beans were just OK. My son got flautas, he did not care for them. They were about as skinny as your pinky finger. They do not serve beer. We got Mexican Coke to drink. While we were eating, one of the workers proceeded to mop the floor, in the area where we were sitting. This brought more of that smell of dirty soap water. Upon exiting the restaurant, more dirty soap, water smell. To put this in a nutshell, the restaurant was clean, although smelly, the service was fine. The food was just OK. Went there yesterday. I am going to start with what was bad, hoping that since no one else mentioned it it must be a temporary problem. There was a unpleasant odor when I first walked in. Also, when I went to the bathroom at the end of the meal there was a sign that said throw all toilet paper in the trash can. The toilet will clog. Mind you, the bathroom was very clean with no smell. Now on to the most important part; the food! My dining partner and I both ordered the lunch special, which was carne guisada. Chips, two kinds of salsa, and some beans were brought to the table right away. It was all delicious, especially those beans. Our main entree was very good and enough food to bring left overs home. So many places were closed on Labor Day (which is understandable! Everyone needs a holiday!), but this place was open! I was so glad because I was hungry. I don't know if it was the influence of other places being closed, but this place was packed! The line was out the door by the time I got to sit down. A good sign to start off! Our lovely waitress came to get our order and she couldn't speak any English, so we had to just point to the menu items to order. (I guess I should have paid more attention in Spanish class! Haha) I didn't mind this because this usually means the food is authentic. Plus, the customer base here was 90% Hispanic. Another good sign! Almost immediately, they served us a complimentary soup, chips with salsa and queso. OMFG everything was phenomenal right away! The queso was the best I've ever had. They ain't serving Velveeta here! The soup had some beans, a few veggies, and generous amounts of thick-cut bacon. The soup was SO flavorful, and I was loving that deep bacon flavor in the broth. I wish I could tell you what I ordered, but I forgot to write it down. It was like a fajita meal with chicken, beef, and shrimp on a hot cast-iron pan. It came with the softest warm corn tortillas, rice, beans, and veggies for the usual fixings. Let me tell you, the portion was out of control! I had to eat it at the restaurant and for two more meals as leftovers!! It was incredible! The amount of meat they give you could be shared by 3 people! And the taste! PHENOMENAL. Everything was just amazing. The rice and beans were well-seasoned and delicious. The meat was not only plentiful, but great quality! No tendons or fat to try to avoid. Absolutely zero complaints. My boyfriend ordered a pechuga arindinas. It was a chicken dish with some cheese. I won't comment much on this because I didn't eat much of it, but this was also fantastic when I asked him for a few bites! Same top notch taste and quality. How does Arandinas have two dollar signs ($$)? 100% a one dollar sign ($) spot. It's so affordable and, more importantly, so consistently good. Seat yourself and remember your table number for when you pay up front later. You get served chips and salsa, and the salsa is always fresh and good. The red has a good amount of Mexican oregano, so it's a little different than other salsas. The green in the squeeze bottle is the blended jalapeño and oil variety, but not spicy. Ask for the tomatillo salsa, which is orange-red, and delicious. They also either serve you (or ask you if you want) a complimentary bowl of charro beans, which are one of the best items they serve. They are rich, creamy, and seasoned (sorry Pollo Rico, I'm looking at you when I am disappointed in charro beans). We come for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's always an option when we are eating out. At this point, I pretty much always get the fajitas Texanas, which are chicken or beef fajitas (or both), well-seasoned, with onions and green peppers that usually have a good char on them. Comes with the usual fixings on the side. The meat is charred, lean, and (again) it's well-seasoned. It's cut thin, so don't come expecting skirt steak strips, At $16.99 for one person, it's a generous amount and we often share it between two people. Though at $24.99 for two, you can't go wrong with a double portion. Service is stellar. Friendly, multilingual, quick. It's a small place, so you can catch your server easily if you need anything. This review is based on the terrible customer service I received yesterday after the restaurant did not get my order correct. I am a frequent at this restaurant and LOVE their tacos. (The tacos are fire y'all) I never have an issue with my order, but yesterday was different. I placed an order of 12 tacos total, 6 beef fajita on corn, 2 beef fajita on flour, and 4 chicken fajita on corn. I got the order, went home and noticed it was wrong. (I should've checked before leaving the restaurant!) I received 10 tacos, 6 steak fajita on corn, 2 chicken fajita on flour (didn't order) and 2 chicken fajita on corn. I immediately called the restaurant back and explained the issue. I was told the kitchen staff made the order correctly. I again explained the order was not made correctly as I don't even have any steak fajita on flour at all and only received 10 out of the 12 paid for. The woman was very argumentative. I offered to send a photo of the incorrect order and come back to the restaurant. I was told if I came back to the restaurant, my order would not be remade fresh and I would only get the missing tacos replaced. I explained I live over 20 minutes away and if I'm being made to come back with the full order my full order needs to be remade as it will be cold. She stated they would not remake the order in full. I asked for a refund and was also denied a refund. Then the woman hung up on me. Wild. I ended up having to just file a claim with the bank due to the terrible customer service and argumentative employees not thinking they could ever make a mistake on an order!! Total turn off and very terrible way to handle a mistake on their end. Photos below of the incorrect order they wanted to argue about. Today I came to this location for lunch and ordered the following items: Carnitas tacos and kid's hamburger and fries. I have been to this location many times, but this is the first time I have been thoroughly disappointed in my meal. Carnitas tacos: The carnitas meat for this dish was dried out and inedible. If I were eating this meal at the restaurant, I would have promptly returned this dish. However, I ordered this to-go and did not want to drive back to return the meal. I do understand that carnitas will vary from "pot roast" consistency to what some consider 'the crusty bits'. What I prize in dishes such as these are intense caramelized flavor; this usually comes from refrying the cooked meat, which also tends to dry it out. Unfortunately, because the meat was burnt and extremely dried out, none of this flavor was there. I ordered this dish with a side of Charro Beans. The beans were cooked perfectly in a broth made from bacon, onions, garlic, chipotle peppers, tomatoes and other spices.
