I decided to go through the drive thru and try something I usually don't get. I got a steak torta instead of getting my usual chicken . The meat is flavorful but the sandwhich overall was a bit dry . The sandwhich is huge, but the meat was dry and the had too much guac for the amount of meat. This sandwhich end up being hard to eat and it was very messy. Never again! . This place has pretty good chicken. Although, if they did not have all of the sauce choices, the chicken would just be mediocre. I love the family combos, it comes with great sides. They have some of the best Horchata I've ever tried, It's more of a milky flavor. I used to go here all the time because I worked close by. I was excited when I drove by and saw this place was opening. I had been to one many years ago when they had a location off Research and Ohlen Rd, it was very good. I stopped by after reading some reviews on Yelp and I was very disappointed when I actually received my order. First, the chicken is no longer grilled but baked. There is no grill taste which is what gave it its special unique taste. This leads to skin not being charred or crispy. I did not like the taste of this new baked chicken. The sides were horrible, mushy overcooked rice and tasteless, bland charro beans. The only good thing was the baked onion. The salsa bar looked good at first glance but after trying every type of sauce I was disappointed yet again. I remember their green sauce being particularly good, not this time around, the taste was just not the same. Their other salsas were not tasty as well. I do like the pickled onions and that was about it. I usually get my fix for mexican grilled chicken at pollo rico which fortunately still grills their chicken. Their rice and charro beans are far better than what I got at Pollo Regio. I hope they go back to grilling their chicken and improve their sides, until then, I won't be going back. read more

I was kinda sad bc they took off the menu a seasonal item, the chilaquiles they were my absolute favorite in the city Hoping they would bring those back. Ok, I have delayed going here due to seeing mixed reviews. Today I decided to go at lunch. It was busy inside, the inside was clean, and the service was friendly. I got the 1/2 chicken to-go. I have been to a restaurant in San Antonio that cooks chicken like this and that place is off the charts good with a flavor to their charro beans and rice I can't put a finger on, but everything in my meal was good. The chicken was very good and I liked the taste of the salsa verde. The wait for my food was not very long; I ordered inside so I could look the menu over. Ordered the regio platter and the portion was small. I called the restaurant because it looked like an order for one person. The employee and manager confirmed that the amount advertised was for 10 oz of meat for two people. I weighed it and it was 5.6 oz. When I told them this the manager became rude and said he did not believe me and that even if it was he could not do anything. He blamed his employees saying that they were new and that they had a lot of orders. Don't call it a plater and say that its for two when its not. Might as well order the tacos which is less expensive. Be ware when ordering from here because it looks like they like to scam people out of what they paid for. It is GREAT ... I would always go to the Berkman location in Austin. but this one is here in Pflugerville where the old Papa Murphys used to be. I just ordered the number One.
