From the outside it seemed like they would have a lot of new and different frame ideas, but after trying a bunch on I realized there wasn't much that couldn't be had elsewhere. The place has super-trendy eyewear and friendsly sales associates. They weren't snobby and didn't pressure me to buy. The frames are not ridiculously expensive and they are European made. For the past few months, I've been desperately looking for cool half-rimless eyeglass frames. Lencrafters and Pearlevision carry a lot of plastic which I didn't want. I found SEE here on yelp and I wanted to check it out. I drove from the SW side of chi-town just to find eyeglasees! That's how desperate I was. And sweet, when I walked in, the lady showed me shelves of half-rimless frames! YAY! I took a look around, and they had a lot of cute stuff! I left and checked out America's Best and Lenscrafters and nothing...waste of time. So, I came back the next morning and bought an awesome frame. this store is dangerous. every time i walk in i fall in love. sometimes with one, sometimes with many. with irresistible deals and with the broadest range of unique glasses i have ever encountered, i often go home with enough pairs to make a polygamist blush. on top of that they send me a "we think your special" card with a 20% coupon just to follow up on me and make sure im tempted by their new releases and aware of their new deals. they call me to let me know when my splurges are ready and to check up on me and make sure the love lasts. and the love still lingers. read more

Is sipping on mimosa before an eye exam a good thing? Hmmm, I'm not sure, but what I am sure about is that I'll never go back to LensCrafters. I was a bit sad to learn that yesterday was SEE's trunk show and not a regular Saturday - I walked in and there was a DJ spinning, mimosa and a candy counter set up. I think I'd having my eyes examined every Saturday if that were the case anyway. The customer service is amazing here! Everyone was tres friendly and helpful. The Dr. was also great. She actually corrected my prescription and did a very thorough exam AND has a great personality! Definitely my new place for glasses and contacts. read more

If you're looking for trendy and cool lenses but also want affordable prices, See is the place to go. They have fashionable lenses fron Franch and Italy, but since the frames have the See name on them, they're much cheaper than comparable designer labels. I have lived in Chicago for about four years now, but remained loyal to my eye doctor in Indianapolis. She was amazing. Alas, she sold her practice recently, and I figured it was time to find a doctor closer to home. I called SEE because they were close to my work place, and their reviews on Yelp seemed good. Totally true. I don't have insurance, so I was COMPLETELY EXCITED when I was told they were having a buy one pair, get one free sale. Yes, an entire pair of glasses FREE. The two sales women were really helpful, and the one woman helping me brought over at least 10 pairs for me to try on. She was dead-on with all of the shapes. I finally picked two, and she made sure I knew that they came in other colors as well. The doctor was awesome, and gave me a mini lecture/chastising that I was wearing contacts exclusively, since I am legally blind in one eye, and if I were to hurt the other one... it'd be really bad. He advised that I always wear glasses, or at least most days of the week, to help protect and shield that good eye. He's totally right. We had a convo about it, and he ended it by telling one of the sales women to throw in the shatter-proof glass for free. Awesome place. Glasses are cute, and it's good to know that the price tag you see on the glasses includes the lenses. No guesswork. AWESOME. read more

SEE is an outstanding business on all fronts. I won't both to replicate all of the details in other reviews other than to offer the following from my experience within the last 4 weeks/2 hours: - Went in 4 weeks ago and Michelle was extremely easy to work with and helped me pick out some frames that I loved...but I wasn't ready to buy at that moment (wanted to do a bit more comparison shopping). - Went back this afternoon and when I spoke to her she almost instantly remembered me and the exact frames. Still, she had me try on a few new styles to make 100% sure that the original choice was still the best. - The entire staff is cool, easy going, super friendly and not pushy/salesy in any way. They're clearly good at what they do, interested in helping customers and understand that rational people care about price and might want to comparison shop their styles against those offered from competitors. - When I called back to offer my insurance info to purchase my glasses, Michelle let me know that if I just wait a few more weeks, my annual insurance premium for lenses would renew and even more of the total cost of my purchase would be covered. How awesome is that? She looked up my plan and counseled me on the best way to save money. As to the few negative comments about the actual quality of the frames, I think that it's obvious that some of these are not quite as high end as some of the exceptionally luxe stuff out there. So what. Their prices are super-reasonable, they offer unique frame shapes that no one else has, and their customer service kicks ass. I could easily have paid 2-3X as much at a place down the street (this is not an exaggeration: I literally priced out a similar offering 1 hour prior to going to SEE). If you're looking for some cool glasses, definitely stop in and consider these frames. If nothing else, you'll give yourself a very high watermark to compare all of SEE's competitors to...so you'll feel like a well-informed shopper. IMHO, that's important when you're making a rather expensive purchase for something that you may wear every single day for years. read more

They were friendly & helpful but I felt that the contact fitting was not the best and the selection of glasses was fun but ok. The prices are still moderately high with a groupon. I stopped in on visit to Chicago. The two staff people , one was the manager Vanessa ( and I think Susan), could not have been nicer! So patient and they made the entire visit so much fun! I ended up buying two pairs and as I had my presription, they were able to process them and have them sent to a See store closer to me in San Francisco. I had a wonderful experience here! Upon breaking my old glasses clean in half during a fit of work-related frustration (if you have a demanding job, chances are, you understand), I realized immediately it was an expensive form of release. And the next day, although my friends had a good laugh about it, I hated myself for having to buy new ones. However, upon wandering upon SEE right off the streets and noticing their unique selections, I didn't regret my moment of meltdown so much after all. :) Michelle was extremely kind and helpful. She laughed along with me when I admitted why I was replacing my glasses, and although the place looks like an eyeglass museum... the atmosphere is very personable, and we had a blast trying on all sorts of frames. She immediately suggested a frame that worked well with my face (while still encouraging me to try on tons of other styles and giving honest feedback). Her original suggestion for frames was spot on, and I wanted EVERY color! I finally limited myself to hot pink, which admittedly, is a bit of a drastic change from my old black frames. But if you read the first part of this review, you already know I operate on impulse. They allowed me to have my prescription faxed over from Neirman's Vision Center, and I expect to have the frames in about 7-10 business days. If I remember, I'll post an update on the product itself, but this review is for Michelle and her expertise. I appreciated her great attitude and her patience in helping me try on glasses. I had an appointment here yesterday and had a great experience. I was greeted right away by Adam who offered me a water and helped me get checked in. I was about 15 minutes early so I browsed around for some glasses. Dr. Novak then called me back for my appointment which was a breeze. She explained everything she was doing and was very friendly. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is after I received the eye drops to dilate my eyes I was sent back into the waiting room for 20 minutes to allow the drops to kick in. I've been wearing glasses and going to the eye doctor every year since I was 8 and can't recall ever having to do this. It seemed like a waste of time because my eyes were clearly dilated within a few minutes and then I had to sit there with sunglasses on because everything was so bright that I could barely see! The one positive part about it was Jonathan (another employee) kept me company while I waited. After going back in with Dr. Novak I then finished up all my paperwork and ordered my glasses and contacts through Jonathan. I just switched my insurance and he was beyond helpeful with all of the annoying questions I had and helped me decide on which lens to get. Fantastic customer service all around and I'll definitely be back! read more

Glasses are really cute and reasonably priced, considering that the lenses are included in the cost. Most places charge $200-$400 for frames and an additional $100+ for the lenses. Here, what you see is what you get - the price on the tag is your total. The doctor was very nice and extremely helpful. They could have charged me for an eye exam today, but the doctor told me that my glasses prescription was actually valid for 2 years (not just 1 like I thought). I got my prescription faxed in from my old doctor in CA and got my glasses! How cool is that? I thought it was awesome that they didn't try to jerk me around and actually saved me money! read more

Kipper was amazing!!!! He was so sweet, and not pushy at all, asked if he could pick out some frames for me, then we talked about ones I liked, and if I could pull the look off. When I said I had to think about it, he didn't flip me any attitude at all, just smiled, and when I returned four days later, to go ahead with it, he remembered me, and was just a doll about everything. The Doctor was great, she listened when I talked, and it was a pleasant experience. Highly recommend this place. The entire vibe and people there were all lovely. And I've been wearing glasses for twenty years, and have been to optometrist all over the world. But loved my experience here. They weren't pushing, didn't try and up sell, mentioned the options, and that just showed me, how much they cared ( I had mentioned I was on a tight budget). So huge thumbs up from me. read more

Had a great experience here. I came in with a groupon and left with some glasses I love. The frame selection is very trendy but there's something for everyone. The staff is very helpful, honest and friendly, I wish I could remember the names of the women who helped me but I want to thank them for their honest opinions! My glasses came in even sooner than promised, which was a pleasant surprise. While i was checking out the lens popped out of the sunglasses I had worn there and they even fixed them for me, even though they were just a pair of glasses I already had! I have been wearing glasses for the past fifteen years, and I would rate SEE as my best eyewear experience to date. The store has a hand-picked selection of hip and classic styles. The staff is amazing: helpful, knowledgeable and thorough. I've never had my eyewear properly fitted, and realized this today when the store manager, Michelle, took the time to measure my pupil height to ensure the best fit possible. Do Not Set foot in this store. I have complained so many times about my glasses. I have spent so much money through out the years. I've never had a problem til this year. I cannot see!!! I've complained that I walk into Walls and when I drive I tend to go over the curb(again because I can't SEE)!!! All they have to say is, Well..., yeah.., that's what happens when your eyes get bad. The previous glasses I had were great. The only reason I got new ones was because my anti scratch on my lenses were scratched to hell. Since my prescription was almost expired they insisted I get an exam. My contacts are perfect. My glasses now give me migraines. I can't wear contacts 15 hours a day. I need my glasses. Every time I've gone to try to fix this problem I just get is angry. The very first time I went in to get an adjustment I asked that the manager (who looks like miss piggy on crack!! You can't miss her!) to bend one of the arms slightly. That was the only thing wrong with them. She proceeded to get all rubic cube on my frames. I eventually got new frames. That cost another $250 more. And now my problem is even worse. I walk by that store all the time and have to keep myself from walking in there and going off on miss piggy on crack. I'm not in the mood to be arrested. Every time I've gone in the store every-other phone call her response has been, " Call corporate, here's the number!" I don't have another 800 bucks to spend on another pair of glasses. I guess I'll have to wait til next year. Meanwhile, if I walk past you on the street, and don't say Hi, Sorry!! SEE has trendy frames that look good but their designer frames and lenses are very VERY expensive thus I purchased the SEE brand frames which still were not cheap. After one year the frames have turned colors and the lenses are scratched and peeling. Yes peeling - a layer of the lenses are peeling off. I have worn glasses for 23 years and this has never happened to me before. These were by far the cheapest quality frames ive ever had...i shouldve stuck with lense crafters and pearle vision. Dont waste your money...SEE looks good and trendy on the surface, but the quality of their frames and lenses is awful read more

service is horrible. i went to the one on lincoln park on a thursday night and the girl that was there were on her cell phone texting the whole time. then, there was a boy came to see her. they were chatting non-stop at the cashier area and paid no attention to me. however, there were 3 more customers came in and the sales girl came to her senses and put on some black glasses and started to do her job. the funny thing is that the guy that came talked to her, pretended that he was a customer too and start trying on glasses! After seeing such high reviews, I was excited to give this place a try. When I first walked into the store, the sales associate seemed friendly and picked out some frames for me to try but then seemed to lose interest and disappeared into the back of the store. None of the other associates so much as said hello to me yet were loudly talking amongst themselves about what was going on outside of the store. It just gave the impression that they literally cared more about what was going on outside of the store than about helping me. I left without buying anything or even finding anything I liked. The visit just rubbed me the wrong way and I don't think I'll be back. read more

A very unfortunate experience. Obviously the staff is well prepared to be nice when all goes according to plan or does not interrupt their routine. This morning, I had an appt at 10 a.m. for an exam to finish the purchase of a $300 park of glasses I had purchased. My appt was at 10. I wasn't told they only opened at 10 and happened to arrive 5 mintues early. The two gentelmen in the store could not be botherded to acknolwedge me. I was there for an appt, not a random visit, yet no attempt to determine who I was or what I was doing. there. just left outside in the cold. About that time Michelle walked up (the manager I guess) and asked me how I was doing, I told her I thought it was rude that I would be left out in the cold with no explanation so close to opening when I was there for an appointment at their request and told her I would just like a refund. again, no acknowledgement of apology on Michelle's part just a great eagerness to refund my money and get me out as soon as possible. No attempt to find out what had happened. When I asked who the manager was she told me it was her and I guess it made sense. More disturbing, When I called back for a regional manager or corporate number they refused to give me any information. (for those of you who ever need ti it....to go cyberdriveill.com and every business in Illinois is required to register the name of an agent, address and phone number. I will find someone of high authority than Michelle withouht having to deal with the ridiculous recoriding that someone else on this site has already referred to. When I called I talke to Ty. He informed my that htey were counting cash and that I could have been a crazy person they didin't know. He also indicated that if I had come from starbucks I would have plainly seen that he was counting cash and therefore could not let me in. Well, I had not come from starbucks and did not know this. Perhaps a quick 30 second trip to the door, now two minutes prior to opening might have made that clear for me. Nevermind the fact that Michelle walked up opened the door and let me right in while from my perception Ty was still doing the exact same thing. Ty was combative and and rude on the phone and told me to be quiet becuase he was going to talk now. He concludded that there were many aspects of their busineess I should have known that, of course, I have now ay of knowing nor do I really care. I was a customer who arrived a few mintues early for an exam and they were happy to let met styand in the cold with out any acknolwedgement when the store was going to open in 5 mintues. Can someone explain the attitude? They're selling glasses for God's sake. In the end Ty finally, I assume to avoid my willinginess to search out the owner and complain offered myt 50% of my glasses, an offer I don't intend to take him up on after reading many other reviews regarding the quality of their product. Casually went in this store over the summer to browse for some new glasses with my sister. From the second we walked in, Jonathan made us feel welcome and gave us his undivided attention and his honest opinion on my glasses. Picking out glasses is difficult to do on your own and although my sister was a big help, it's crucial to have an associate who will give you his honest opinion about how the frames look and suggest other frames based on what works with one's face shape and the style desired. We were debating between 2 frames and his tie breaking suggestion was the frame I decided to purchase. 6 months later, my glasses are holding up great, I LOVE them and get compliments every time I wear them. Since I do not live locally, I had no issue having them shipped to my VA address and in the store, the associate proactively made sure to adjust the frames to my face shape and lop sided ears. My frames are made in Italy, and I did opt for the extra anti-glare on the lenses and it has made a difference to me. Overall, I was very pleased and will probably return to the Georgetown store for a second pair. read more

I bought a $600 pair of glasses from their Armitage location over 4 weeks ago. The excuse they gave for the extended time was that the glasses were actually made of glass. I finally am told that the glasses are in, and I drive all the way in to get them, only to find that they turned them into sunglasses. The tint was so dark I couldn't even see. The same person who took the order waited on me, and didn't even have the decency to apologize for their error. By the way, I am not convinced that I was given the frames that I chose either. Who knows when their second attempt will come back. I'll never go back to this company again. read more

I just bought my glasses there today and can absolutely say they are the best. 1. I have been looking for glasses for the past six months. I've tried almost all the glasses sites online and have tried numerous eyewear shops in the city, including the famous Spex. Not only does See have the absolute best selection of fabulously cute glasses, but the staff and atmosphere is the best!! 2. The staff is unbelievably amazingly great!!! A big shout out to Kris who was an absolute doll and a had a fab pair of glasses herself. Pros: decent selection, friendly staff. Cons: It can get expensive (at least for my broke ass). I believe I was charged $95 for anti-reflective lenses. Add that to the cost of the glasses and it starts to add up. I realize they have overhead and need to make a profit, but it will be hard for me to go back there considering I've found some really cool eyewear elsewhere, w/AR lenses already included, for less than $95. read more

okay, i am a cheapskate. i had a groupon for $200 worth of glasses. sometimes when i walk in with a groupon i get treated like the dirt on the floor. not here. best eye exam ever. liked the frames so much i bought a second pair at the full cost..i got a regular lens with thick black frame and then a clear frame with tint and transitions...my boyfriend is a bit jealous of those...since we bicycle alot. i was served by a few different people...2 on the day of my exam and picking out the frames and someone else when i picked them up...everyone, EVERYONE was really nice and helpful. i will be back and will most likely get an appointment for my boyfriend there too. only bad note..when i first wore my black frames to work...i had my hair in braids and i got the red eye and i looked just like the girl on the cover...the underemployed cover...i had an ACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!! moment when i realized i looked like a hipster. oh well. read more

What I'm looking for in an eyewear store is great selection and service -- and SEE scores amazingly well for my needs. As a working mom of three I have no time for my errands, so when I came in here with all of the kids I asked for some help. Michelle, the store manager, brought out the frames that would suit my prescription and lifestyle (nothing that can't withstand grubby fingers) and did it all in just a couple of minutes. She found a stylish frame that looks great, and my glasses were ready within a few days. Michelle adjusted them while I was parked in the handy 15-minute zone in front of the shop. Couldn't ask for anything more! Will come back for sure, and you should try it out, too! read more

I've purchased many glasses at SEE and have dealt with both Ty and Michelle and recieved very good customer service from both. There's a posting on the door that says when they are open and it only makes sense to not open the door, especially while counting money. They have great product and are nothing but pleasant everytime I come there. They will continue to be my choice for future eyewear purchases. read more
