I came to Pearle Vision to have my 13 year old son eyes checked. We didn't use insurance, the cost was $107. A lot less than I thought it would be. Of course the price is more if you get lenses and glasses. The office is very professional, clean, warm and inviting. It's very spacious, a lot bigger than it looked on the outside. The optometrist was very sweet to my son. We were seen immediately, so no wait time. Delilah was our tech and she was exceptional. Friendly, helpful and made us laugh. I came here for something very simple and ended up wasting time, money, and an entire DMV appointment because of this place. I was in town for only a few days and needed a DMV vision report. Since they originally issued my prescription, I figured they could provide it quickly. I asked if they could give me the standard DMV vision letter. They told me the doctor "wasn't in," but then said that if I did a vision test and my prescription stayed the same, they could give me the report. Based on that assurance, I agreed and paid $90 for a new exam. After the test, they confirmed my prescription hadn't changed -- but then refused to give me the DMV report anyway. At that point it felt like a complete scam. Their refusal meant I couldn't complete my same-day appointment and had to start the whole DMV process over on another day. Because they wouldn't provide the report, I ended up buying a new pair of glasses I didn't even need just so I could finish my DMV renewal during the limited time I was in town. The glasses weren't optional -- their refusal forced me into it. I'm extremely disappointed. The staff gave me information that turned out to be false, wasted my time, cost me money I didn't need to spend, and left me without the simple document I came in for. Completely unprofessional and absolutely not a place I'd ever trust again. read more

We have been coming to this location for 4 years now. Doctor Hungerford is awesome and also the manager Debbie, they took care of my wife and I great but this year they also took amazing care of my 6 year old with his eye exam. They truly give the red carpet treatment. They have hundreds of frames to choose from for any budget. My wife has purchases glasses, sunglasses and contacts and is extremely happy with the options available. They have all the insurance details ready and explain what is covered and what is the patients responsibility. During these COVID times we were happy with their safety protocols we witnessed as we were asked to wash hands and all machines wiped down THROUGHLY before each patient. When I broke my glasses while quarantining out of state, they were quick to work with me to order replacement lenses and even the exact same frame that I had been wearing previously. As my eyesight is not very good, they knew every day would matter in getting replacements out the door to me = the team went out of their way to check other locations for inventory to ensure I could get my frames and lenses as fast as possible, and they came fast. I was able to call this Pearle Vision at 3:45pm on a Saturday. Get an appointment at 4 and was out the door by 5, with a full exam, including fitting for a new brand of contacts, which I love. I have bought new glasses and had a complete vision work up, including that bizarre glaucoma test where they blow a fast burst of air in your eye, twice here. Although the location is obvious for those that drive down Division regularly, many people just drive by, although the service has been very good. The optometrist that I had last was exceptionally personable and made the appointment as painless as possible. I was surprised by the options for glasses selection as well. I got a pair of Hackett frames (a British company that is higher-end) and, although my insurance required the order to be sent out, they came back quickly and were exactly as ordered. During the closure my exam expired, I was out of contacts and ONLY had glasses from 2009 that were all sorts of scratched and old. I arrived without an appointment and received an exam very quickly and then got a lot of help picking out some new frames. A week later I picked up the glasses. After several days I want back because I could see better with an old prescription than with my new glasses. I was given another exam but was never given a clear description of why my new glasses weren't working. Maybe it was something about the height of the progressives--but I really don't know. I was told the new lenses would take a week. It's now been nine days without glasses and I was just told they may not be ready for another six days. This is totally unacceptable service. read more

I have been going to this unit for 4 years, but last time was the last. I have an account to be paid and I bought a new glasses that was completely paid. I need to have the money in my insurance card to pay the open account, and when I went to pick up my glasses they didn't want to give me because I had to pay the other account first. No matter who helps me, they are always friendly while also professional - and know how to work with my insurance company. Today it was Tatiana who helped me. She offered her opinion on frames when I asked, and continued to be patient with me while I went back and forth between a couple of styles before deciding - even though the store was very busy with year-end customers. I chose to go to Pearle Vision over a "fancy" eye doctor because I just wanted a simple exam and a replacement pair of lenses for my current frames and I just live down the street. Steve, the owner (or manager?) of the store was very pleasant and helpful when I called to schedule my appointment, even fitting me in the same day after work! The exam was fine--don't remember the young woman's name but she was nice. They needed to order the new lenses, so I was told to return in a few days when they had arrived. Things started to go downhill when I came in a few days later to wait for the lenses to get replaced--the technician broke my frames, which were about 3 years old and I loved a lot. They encouraged me to look around the store to pick out a replacement pair. Unfortunately, I feel like their selection is not that great, and I couldn't find anything that closely resembled my old glasses. The next day I received a call from Matt at the store and he said they were unable to order my old ones from the manufacturer, but that I would be issued a store credit for their value. I asked him if he could order frames that weren't carried in the store and still apply the credit. This is where things really turned around. Not only did he let me do that, he was extremely patient when I called back several times with questions (can you order this brand? what size should I get? etc.) Once the new frames arrived, he even suggested I come in and try them on before they installed the lenses--much appreciated since I'd only seen them online. To be honest, I'll probably go elsewhere the next time I need a complete pair of glasses, but I was really pleased with how they handled my situation. Forget all other eyeglass places if you are looking for a place within the Gold Coast, River North, Mag Mile, or Loop area. I've been to all of them since I'm picky and a comparison shopper for high-end items, and no place compares to the doctors, service, or eyeglass selection as this Pearle Vision location. You can make an appointment over the phone or online and select whichever doctor you wish. I have gone to several different eye doctors here, and consistently I have found them all to be friendly, helpful, and quick to put you at ease if you have any angst with doctors. Afterwards, you are free to roam and try on glasses as much as you want. High end, middle of the road, inexpensive, and glasses of all shapes and color are there, and the pricing (with insurance) is extremely competitive. Should you like a frame but prefer a different color, you can have them check the catalogues and do a special order without any sort of payment or commitment to purchase them. Within a week, the sample frames wil come and you can choose then if you like them or not: you are under no obligation to purchase them, in such cases. If you don't need an eye appointment, just tell the people at the desk when you first walk in that you're needing to browse for new glasses, and they'll let you browse at your leisure. This is a welcomed difference compared to every other place, including the large Lenscrafters at Michigan Avenue that shadows you like a hawk and locks most of their designer glasses. Sorry, if I'm going to pay $400 out of pocket for my high-end glasses (excluding the cost of the lens and insurance allowance for frames), i should not be treated like a criminal. Pearle VIsion is not like that - they welcome all of their customers and treat them well. When you do get your finished glasses, the technicians will take their time to properly fit them to your face. As they adjusted mine to my bridge and temples, I felt like they were giving me a free head massage considering the amount of time they went to painstakingly ensure the glasses fit and looked perfect on me. Talk about excellent service. Don't waste your time visiting other stores with sub-par quality glasses and small selection of frames. Just book an appointment and get here. You'll be done and have your glasses quicker than Clark Kent can change in a telephone booth. read more

I made an appointment online. Got to the confirmation page and everything. So I go to my appointment on a Saturday. I'm running late so I take an Uber. When I arrive I'm told they have no record of any appointment for me. They ask if I'l made online and I said yes. They said they have problems with online appointments. She then brings over another employee and I repeat everything and the two employees keep looking at each other saying someone should talk to the doctor and asking if I got to the confirmation page online. After a few minutes of watching the two receptionists keep saying to each other someone should contact the doctor, I walked out. Waste of an uber, waste of a trip, waste of an afternoon. I allegedly save $345 by using coupon(????). Damn I still had to pay $798. I wanted a nice pair though. I'll get supplemental pairs via online retailers. I went back on 1/10/17 to pickup glasses. Watch your charges! Even though their on hold recording insures you won't receive un expected charges that is not the case. I returned to this location 12mo after getting my first pair of contacts from them because their customer service was so great, the doctor so nice, and they let you try contacts to make sure you like them, which was great since I was new to contacts. During my second visit I mentioned many times that I was in to use my insurance to buy contacts and get an exam and that I'd pay out of pocket for my new glasses and buy them on the internet. During my check out, I went over this again with they guy, making sure I was using every last dollar my insurance allotted me for this year, double checking that I wasn't missing out on an option for them to buy my glasses. He confirmed that it was a fixed amount and that with my exam and contacts I'd be paying about an additional $25. I sign my credit card receipt and left. Checking my transactions this morning I see a charge for $177 from Pearl Vision and so I call assuming there has been an error and knowing they'll happily correct it because they are so nice. But after being on hold a lot, I am informed that my insurance only covers contacts or glasses ever 24months and they just went a head and charged my for the contacts without my authorization. Yikes. I'm returning the contacts today. Luckily I didn't open them! read more

I actually find this place to be a bit more expensive than other vision centers. But their frame selection is pretty big and they carry lots of designers that other places don't. The service here is great and they usually have your frames ready in a short period of time. You might have to pay a bit more, but you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been a client of Pearle Vision for 4+ years. I really liked my Doctor at the Ashland location, however I work across from this location (400 Division), so I decided to call there when I was in need. I had a piece of fiber from my sweater stuck in my eye for about 4 hours at work. It got so bad, that I couldn't work anymore and I had to do something about it. Now going to the ER would have been a little extreme, so I decided to call the place of business that I have had my eyes poked and proded from for the last 4 years; I trust them and how big of a procedure could it be? I told whomever that answered that I was an existing client, and that I needed someone to help me fish this fiber out of my eye which would just take a rubber glove, some eye drops and 5 seconds. The voice on the other end wanted to charge me $70. Are you kidding me? I spend $40 a month here on contacts, which is high to begin with but because I believe in customer loyalty, I look past it. I felt so slided and treated like a number at this location. I really think I will be ordering from 1-800 contacts, and boycotting this place for good. read more

My mom and I went here to get new glasses. She has a very complicated prescription. The lenses she received at first were slightly "off" (not that unusual considering her prescription needs to be very precise). After a few weeks, she went back to ask them if the glasses could be adjusted. The guy we spoke to offered to re-make the lenses at no cost. He was extremely friendly and worked hard to precisely measure. A week later and my mom had her new lenses and they were perfect. Bought my glasses here about a week ago. Paid for anti-reflective and scratch resistant coatings. It's very obvious that the coatings were not put on my glasses. I have scratches, although the glasses were never dropped or handled without care. They also reflect light. This is not my first pair of glasses and I know, that if done properly, the lenses should not scratch unless they are mishandled. My last pair lasted 1.5 years without any issues. This one didn't even make it a full week. I will go back to see if they address this problem. Will update! They fixed my glasses within 24 hours after I brought them in. read more
