I love going to this shop. The owners are very sweet. The nice lady working there went through so many glasses with me and had so much patience I really appreciated it. I just went in to get a pair of glasses and expected to wait a week or 2 for them to be ready and I was shocked when they were ready for pick up in 30 minutes. I broke my glasses. I knew the frames could not be repaired. The lady said that she could not fix it. I told her I understood. I asked if she had frames that could fit my lenses. She said they do not have those frames. I asked her if she wanted to sell me anything. She never left her stool behind the counter. I said I need to get something. I was willing to by a new pair of glasses. I just saw my ophthalmologist two weeks ago so I had a prescription. I asked again if she wanted to do business with me. She never moved to show me frames or check my prescription. I told her that I would never be back and she said nothing. I went to another store a few minutes away and purchased new glasses. I was a serious customer and not treated that way. They were rude and indifferent. Nobody should waste their time walking into this store. read more

Dr. Pham is great optometrist and provided a great checkup for my daughter in the neighborhood after needing to switch doctors when her insurance coverage switched to AllKids/Medicaid. Free parking in the back is available and not much wait that day. What did get a little more tricky was when it was time to pick out frames. He had one other staff person (during the two times I went) who was nice enough otherwise, but my daughter had a hard time picking out frames on her own (needing to decide too big or too small) even from the select trays of frames that are covered. Maybe I should be more explicit asking the optician/front staff for help, especially if they're available. It just didn't seem to be part of the service I've found with other opticians. But it could also be that simply my daughter was frustrated by the selection there (it should be same though at each optician that accepts Medicaid for glasses). What I did do was express on my second visit that my daughter had trouble picking out frames and that'd we'd like her prescription to try another place. The same front staff person, nice as before, provided me that. Wound up going to Grinman Eye Care in Evanston that also accepts Medicaid and has good Yelps. That office has 2 to 3 staff up front and sat with my daughter for about 5 minutes going through the trays of frames that are covered and picking out frames that might work. My daughter picked two possibles, identified her preference, and the optician checked it and took measurements for the order. Having staff assistance seemed to help but it seemed my daughter found two frames she didn't find at Vision 20/20 which seems unusual that both opticians wouldn't have the same covered selection. read more

Their "new-ish" location has plenty of free parking and is absolutely spotless. This is a well-managed, well-organized medical facility. You can't help notice how perfectly the spacing is between the display models of frames for glasses- how exact everything is. Clearly, this facility is run by a perfectionist. Make an appointment, and verify your insurance. You will receive a text message reminder from them, and they will be ready for you when you arrive. Filling out the form is quick and easy. Dr. Pham's eye exam was about 20 minutes and covered everything. He explained things to me, took the time to ask about my "screen time" usage as well as how much light I have to read with, etc...He came up with a prescription that was exact, and 10 days later my glasses and personalized frames were ready for pick-up. Dr. Pham is a class act. He is a true professional that gets the job done perfectly. He is only 20 minutes away from us, but even if he were 2 hours away he would still be our eye doctor. She is so rude and i honestly think she is oblivious to the whole situation or its a language barrier. Dr.Pham is great. Medicaid is accepted, I state this first to help out those looking for quality vision care regardless of their insurance. The entire staff is pleasant and friendly. They have stations set up to quickly move you through your appointment. Dr. Van Pham is excellent, he does a thorough exam and takes time to answer any questions you may have. They offer higher end and affordable glasses. They will even give you a discount if you find a pair you really like. My appointment took less than 40 minutes, this included filling out paper work, the exam and selecting glasses. Granted I came in when it wasn't busy this was still the quickest experience I've ever had seeing an optometrist. My glasses were ready in about 2 weeks. I came in to pick them up and after trying them on I found them to be a bit loose, the staff corrected the fitting in about a minute and I was on my way. My entire experience was painless and although I live almost an hour away I will always make the trip to visit Vision 20/20. read more

The doctor was super funny, quick, and efficient. He explained everything to me and answered all of my questions with occasional joke in between. After standing at the Counter for a while she said Hello to get her attention, Instead her saying can I help you, she Abruptly said HAVE A SIT I WILL Be THERE. Update: Once again, Dr. Van and his attentive staff, including the ever-present LINH, have always given me excellent customer service when it comes to fitting me for a new set of glasses and examining my eyes. When I go to a new business, I always pay close attention to the customer service and how clean the place is. In this case, the store is exceptionally clean and when I went back for my eye exam the doctor even cleaned the vision machine before examining my eyes. His staff is professional and everybody speaks fluent English. Hardly a wait at all. Love the attention to detail and the way they all work so well together. Of all the optometrist's I've ever gone to, Dr. Pham Van is one of the most conscientious and thorough doctor's I've ever had to examine my eyes. He explains everything to you in a clear and concise way and is more than willing to address any concerns you may have. Upon my second visit today he gave me a detailed explanation of how to properly care for my glasses and what to look for if I suspect I have cataracts. I've been going here for more than three years, and Dr. Pham Van and his staff have everything you need, at a very reasonable price. Given the Vietnamese and Asian nature of the neighborhood populace, the service is of course bi- and tri-lingual. It's never been a problem for me or my family. You can make an appointment or just walk in; usually the wait is not unreasonable. The decor is pretty basic, but how much does that really matter if you get the same product? I'd rather save some money than help an optician pay a very high rent. BTW, be careful not to leave the parking lot. Look over to the right, the Lincoln Park Pirates are often just lurking, waiting for the moment to pounce on your car to tow it. Last year when I went to get my eyes examined (and new glasses) I had such an unpleasant experience, it garnered my only 1 star yelp review. So, I knew I wasn't going back to that place again for this year's optometric task. As other reviews for Vision 20/20 have noted... the staff is amiable, conversant. And Dr. Van Pham blew me away with his humor, charm... and his patience in explaining technical and anatomical details to me. The entire experience was a joy. I have been coming here since I was 15 years old and now since last year been coming here with my daughter. I like this place, I have never pay to get frames because I used the medical card, and is a plus they accept the medical card since most places don't. The only reason why I don't give it a 5 stars is simply because last year that I came for my daughter follow up, he was hurrying up the hole check-up and I have to wait a 30mins or more even tho I went in on time. read more

Such a terrible bad service I experienced from the eye doctor. Today I went there for an eye exam, but when I told them I don't need a free eyeglasses then the eye doctor sent me home. It makes sense that they want to make money from public acid insurance. As a customer I'd have a right to choose whether I need a free eyeglasses or not. If they really want to make money I don't mind pay for my eye exam out of pocket. It's nice they accept public acid, but with a terrible service I wouldn't even want to step in their store again. I rather go somewhere farther to receive a good service. read more

Dr. Pham diagnosed my brother with high eye pressure. He advised to come back. He gave no eye drops nothing..no information on how to deal with it. He examined my bro like he had a time limit..you know like 10 mins. We went home and googled about high eye pressure. My bro has asthma and his primary care physician gave him a medicine which gives high eye pressure as a side effect. We informed his primary care physician that he was diagnosed with high eye pressure and if taking the drug was okay..The PCP commented that the eye doctor was supposed to give him eye drops. We went to VISION 20/20 after a week as asked by Dr. Pham. He did not prescribe anything. Just told us to keep coming back for checkups. When we told him the suggestion given by the PCP, he got angry. I like to ask questions. It is in my nature. If people get irritated or angry by the questions, I simple loose respect for them. It seems like he only wants people to keep coming back so that he can get paid. Lastly, his jokes are bad and we had to pretend they were funny. WE ARE NEVER EVER EVER COMING HERE.. read more

I live two blocks away and was about to go to a practice downtown that was recommended by a friend, but a simple Google search showed Vision 20/20 with such favorable reviews--and no need to leave my neighborhood! I gave them a try in late 2015 and was very pleased. I came back last month and had another positive experience. Dr. Pham is very affable. Dr Van Pham is FANTASTIC! Not only is he a caring, fun , pleasant doctor to speak with, he is SHARP! Dr Pham figured out a contact lens prescription error ( originally from a Walmart Doctor) that had been over correcting my left eye for 5 YEARS! I am disabled and the free parking lot right out front is absolutely great. He gives free trial contacts so you can try new brands and recently when I ran out of contact lenses right before the holiday weekend he gave me a free pair to get me thru the holidays! He is so considerate of your eye health! They have a really good selection for the free pair of glasses that come with your insurance. They accept Medicaid with a smile and do not try to overcharge anyone with hidden fees. The staff at Vision 20/20 was very helpful and friendly. There was little to no wait, and they were upfront with pricing and helpful with my insurance coverage and what they wouldn't cover. The doctor even gave me contacts (less expensive alternative to the contacts I've been using) to try and see if they work for me! I even got a free pair of sunglasses (non-prescription) as I have light sensitive. They even have a great selection of glasses, great pricing for the brands they carry!
