This is actually a review for two Big City Optical locations, the one on Grand Avenue where Dr. Rassa did my eye exam and also the location inside Northbridge mall (by Nordstrom) where I found the eyeglasses. Both were very professional and caring. Let's first talk about the exam. Upon meeting Dr. Rassa I explained how my right eye was bothering me and it had been a while since my last exam (which was elsewhere). She had me take out my contacts and look into her equipment which was very state of the art. As wild as it sounds, I was able to see my eyeball and all the blood vessels in 3D on her big screen. Then we talked about my vision and current lens prescription. She took extra time to fully evaluate me as a new patient and answered all of my concerns. I never felt rushed and I could tell Dr. Rassa genuinely cares about her patients. As it turned out, I needed an eye drop prescription for a mild eye infection which was the cause of my discomfort. She called it into Walgreens for me to pickup on my way home. I was quite impressed when Dr. Rassa called me two days later to see if my eye felt better. After getting my new vision prescription I looked at frames on display but just didn't see anything that totally captured my interest so I walked over to the Big City Optical location inside the Northbridge mall and found a few I liked. Note: This location has the big designer frames like Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Cartier, Victoria Beckham, Persol, etc. Thankfully they take vision insurance on prescription eye wear because it can start to add up! George is the store's optical manager and he is simply fantastic!! He took time to help me decide which frame to order based on how I plan to wear the glasses. Was it just for reading or watching shows or would they be for long hours of computer work? We talked about the function and fashion for eye wear and he made the whole decision-making experience fun overall. Tell him I sent ya:) It took a few weeks for the prescription glasses to be ready. Upon pickup, George enthusiastically greeted me back to the store and made sure they fit properly. While I know he sees customers all day everyday, he made me feel like I was important and to me that's top notch service! Walked in to see if they had contacts available. I had traveled to Chicago for an event and forgot my contacts at home. The gentlemen helping at the front was so lovely. I provided my prescription and they didn't have any pairs of my two week contacts, but hooked me up with some daily trials to help me out! The store is centrally located (across Nordstrom's and bus stop in front). Door is secured and needs to be unlocked via buzzer. There's a lot of great selection for frames - good brand names and modern frames. It seems like they also offer delivery. Very helpful, clean, and convenient! read more

I had a really rough experience at another place (rhymes with Bends Afters) , and once Miguel knew I needed help, he was right on it. The folks at this location are incredible! They're prompt, communicative, knowledgeable, and very kind. They not only rectified my previous bad experience but made sure I got the best deal and the best lenses and glasses for me. When I needed a follow up appointment with a specialist, they made sure to give them all the necessary test results and followed up with me personally. They even let my dog accompany me to the initial appointment and promptly fell in love with him! I highly recommend this Big City location, and ask for Miguel. Wow! My glasses cracked and i needed fast action. I walked into BCO on the day they were just setting up to open and still unpacking. I originally discovered the location because they are a preferred vendor with VSP insurance, which I confirmed with Victor when I called. Everything went great, they process your insurance and provide you a full fee breakdown before you make any decisions. Went to Big City Optical for the first time last month! The tests and exams were thorough. Doctor Chu explained everything during the exam and talked through new contact options. Everyone was kind and helpful. Victor was great and assisted me with picking out new glasses (I'm fairly indecisive!) and going through benefits and cost differences. I hadn't utilized my visual insurance so I figured I should make an appointment to get my eyes checked, and I am so glad I did. I called ahead to ask if they allowed dogs, and Miguel said that they were! I walked in for the appointment and was greeted by the extremely friendly staff. The doctor (I don't specifically recall her name) was knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She answered all my questions throughout the exam while Miguel took care of my crying dog. Ava and Michelle were amazing. I would like to start with Ava. it was my first eye exam ever my entire life for contact lenses so it took little bit longer than usual :) Ava was patient and also explained many details during the exam so I was able to understand what she was doing for future references. She was also extremely friendly and very knowledgeable so I felt so secure and comfortable during my eye exam. Michelle was also very knowledgeable and informed me about the details of my insurance since it was the very first time that I'm using it so I didn't know much. Michelle also informed me about the products (contact lenses and frames, technology behind them) So she helped me to choose the right product for my eyes and also helped me to save some money :) I would probably spent more without her recommendations. I needed an eye exam before having a second Lasik surgery and randomly found Big City Optical on yelp. WOW. They completely exceeded my expectations for an appointment at the optometrist. This was an EXPERIENCE, an exceptional one at that. From the moment I called for basic information, the Manager, Miguel, spoke to me like we have known each other forever and took care of me with kid gloves. I explained what I needed and he took his time to call my insurance (BCBS PPO) to find out about my coverage and scheduled me immediately. He stayed connected with me every. step. of. the. way. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by a smiling team and Miguel personally came up to say hello. I felt like we've been friends forever. The optometrist, Dr. Rasa was amazing. She was so nice and so genuine!! Their equipment was brand new and the tech was wow! They sanitized everything and made sure I was comfortable. She took time on my exam, stopping every step of the way to explain what she was doing and why she was doing it. She was very patient in answering all of my million questions and was very honest. She was transparent with what I needed and didn't need at this time, which I truly appreciated. I highly recommend this place. If you need an optometrist or glasses come here! Don't wait.
