Broke glasses and called to order new pair ASAP as partially blind. Not cheap and paid to expedite. I was told 5 days for fast service. Ordered August 23 and today Sept. 9 still don't have them. No follow up, found out by going to store on State that there was a problem and had to be redone. No one told me anything, have not received any communication advising status. Each location is the same--friendly staff, fashionable and durable frames at decent prices, and a terrific ordering system make shopping at Warby Parker stores fun. They've found a way to mimic the retail experience of Apple--staff that are helpful and trustworthy about matching styles (and sometimes not afraid to dissuade you from a style that might not be the best choice), honest pricing, and store layouts that are easy to navigate. This Armitage location is probably my favorite in the city--great location and close to the El and Halsted bus. A note about Warby Parker's frames: Yes, they are kinda basic and won't score with Red Carpet looks. This isn't Luxotica where trendy frames start at $600. To keep frames affordable, Warby Parker is has two or three base prices to keep things consistent. Most frames come in alternate colors and follow basic templates, though I appreciate how many come in both a regular and wide fit. So yeah, if you want super stylish frames, this might not be your place, but at least take a look. read more

I was running very low on contacts and the doctor and staff were able to update my prescription and send me home with trial pairs to hold me over. I love the Scout brand. When you step in, the friendly staff welcomes you, all ready to assist - they also let you mosey around and check out all of the frames on the shelves. I love how you can bring a prescription in from your optometrist/ophthalmologist, choose the frames that you're into, put the order in with one of the staff members, pay, and then boom - you're done! I was in the market for new glasses as my pair, was outdated. Pre Warby, I relied on well-known eye wear chains to purchase my set of specs however in past experience; the cost of buying a new pair (even with company eye insurance) was very expensive. After my coverage, I would find myself spending close to $500.00 (out of pocket) for frames and lenses; standard lenses mind you, not progressive. This time around, I wanted to shop smarter. I decided to do some research and came across Warby Parker. I checked out their website and liked a lot of their fashion forward styles, plus I was immediately sold on the price point of $95.00. That alone was the deal breaker. Luckily, I had a prescription that was close to expiring so with prescription in tow, I made the trek up to Lincoln Park to visit the storefront. It was late on a Sunday afternoon and the traffic driving into the city was proving to be a big challenge. As soon as I found a parking spot along Armitage Avenue, I had only 18 minutes to spare till closing time. Hurriedly walking towards the store, I grew anxious thinking I wouldn't arrive on time to get in and be seen. I was told prior to coming in, they accepted walk-ins and no appointment was necessary. Customer volume (on any given day) is unpredictable so I took a gamble hoping someone could assist me. As soon as I arrived, the store was packed! There were at least a dozen folks browsing the merchandise. Thankfully, I knew what I wanted as soon as I came in and within a few steps, in the center of the store, I was met with a helpful salesperson by the name of Faith who greeted me the instant I made eye contact. She asked if I was looking for anything in particular and with that opener, we got the ball rolling. I browsed the website days before to check out frames and already knew which styles I had in mind. Granted, I could've taken up their option to have five pairs to try on and have them sent straight to my home for convenience. This option would've been ideal but my shopping preferences don't allow for it. I personally prefer to shop the old school way and visit a brick and mortar where I have the liberty to talk to a sales rep and test drive merchandise in store. Shopping in store also provides an opportunity to ask questions should any arise. So I proceeded to tell her the names of the styles I was interested in. Faith was able to pull the exact pairs I was looking for from the shelves in an instant. After deciding between two pairs, I purchased my Millie glasses with light responsive lenses. The final bill after tax was under $197.00. Shipping was free and I received my pair within a week. It's been over a month since my glasses arrived and I am confidently satisfied with the experience. I'm in love with the brand, their people, and their mission. In fact, I plan on bringing my husband back for his very first pair in the coming months. The problem I have with Warby Parker is with my glasses (Bergen) the area around the glasses chipped all the way around the lens and they were not willing to exchange them. Unimpressed. I had my previous pair of glasses from here and the quality was quite low - they would loosen all the time and would require adjustments. I went for an eye exam + new glasses this time hoping for a better experience. The exam went fine, but the selection of frames was small and all their styles are similar to one another. Pricing is high. The salesperson I worked with was useless - I couldn't even get him to definitively confirm whether a frame would work with progressive lenses. Will not return. My boyfriend and I are longtime Warby Parker customers. What keeps us coming back? The GREAT customer service and the low prices for the quality. This location has all the proper COVID precautions in place. When you get there you "check in" via name and phone number if they are full to capacity. Our wait was about 20 minutes, which was great to look around at nearby shops. Once there, we were each given a bin to put any frame we touch/try on so they can be cleaned properly. Everyone was super nice and took the time to answer any questions we had. I even like how they help give options on the frames (theres so many that we loved!). I ended up putting in an order for glasses while there. I received the glasses in the mail 2-3 weeks later. The frames I choose had random specks of blue in the frames. When I received them, I did not like the placement of the blue parts on the frames. I took them back in and they were able to pop out my lens and show me the other frames of the same style they had (with various placements of the blue specks) and replaced them for free! I actually had no intention of purchasing glasses. My husband needed to get his glasses adjusted so I tried on a few pairs and absolutely fell in love with the HUGH LARGE. I didn't buy them that day because I did not have a current prescription. Once my prescription came in I ordered the glasses online right away. A day later I received an email about getting my eyes measured. The email provided instructions on how to do this on my own but I felt more comfy going into a store. I walked in and was greeted right away. My name was placed on the short waitlist. While I waited I perused the selection. I fell in love with another pair...oh no! I had already placed my order for the HUGH glasses. While I was getting my eyes measured I told one of the employees about my predicament. In a nonchalant tone she said, "no worries, you can just return the your prescription glasses." How crazy right?! I paid the difference for the TANSLEY and have no regrets! Processing the return was so easy. And the kicker is the prescription glasses here range from 100-200 ALL IN! That's crazy cheap! Back to the actual store. This store is clean and well decorated. I can't believe how late I have arrived to the Warby Parker family. I mean, why did it take this long to find an eyeglasses option that gives you the FULL PACKAGE for $95?! Of course they have more expensive frame options and it depends on whether your vision is progressive or not, but still! The majority are $95 and it comes with a 1 year warranty, no questions asked. You really can't beat that! This is a great option for when I'm transitioning between my old glasses and I am so glad the employee David was there to help. He gave me honest opinions and explained the warranty so well. He even recognized me when I came back in and I can't imagine how many faces he sees on a daily basis. I hadn't seen an optometrist in9 yrs and needed new glasses. But I don't have insurance that includes eye coverage. Warby Parker charges only $75 for a complete eye exam- including dilation. I made an appt easily on line and and everyone was helpful and wonderful from the time I checked in at the front of the store to the end- where I paid for my exam and new glasses. The Dr. Rahul Sud was great. So friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment he introduced himself. He took the time to explain every step of the eye exam. I am disabled and feeling comfortable and taken care of is very important to me. Every step from check in to the exam and then trying on and selecting frames(Sam and Sam were so helpful ) it was a wonderful experience. I have been getting glasses for years at Lens Crafters and often felt I have way overpaid. I would get oakleys, or other name brand glasses and walk out spending $300+. They charge for AR coating, they charge for scratch guard... Every addition is ala carte. My biggest issue with lens crafters is they do not have glasses that fit me. I have a big head and usually need 50+ size plastic frames. Most places including costco has limited selection of these, here comes Warby Parker. Warby Parker is pretty much everything Lens Crafters is not. They have trendy great looking glasses with scratch/ar proctection starting at $99. The people who work here, are really great and will get you in a pair of glasses no prb. The only negative here is these glasses are more of the hipster type, super trendy and might not appeal to everyone. But if these glasses appeal to you, you will not be disappointed!! read more

I ordered the 5 frames to try after looking at their wide array of styles online. I was able to find a pair that I liked online but it was great to check out their store in the city because there were other styles that I liked that I couldn't order for a home try on. It's great that they give you specs on the size dimensions on the frame (narrow, wide, low bridge, medium) but sometimes you really won't know until you try it on. The store looks so cool and hip with all the books and art, it looks like a cool library. The glasses were displayed so neatly and there were a lot of representatives that greeted you right away and was trying to help you without being pushy. I ended up choosing another frame at the store and the original one from the home try on seemed a little fragile, surprising for plastic frames. I really liked that you can go to the store if the fit is not right and they can measure your PD (pupillary distance). I have astigmatism and really strong prescription but I really liked that even with ultra high index option add on (only $30) it was really cheap, total with frames $125. The only concern was that the prescription was not as crisp so I am going to get a second opinion before the 30 day return policy. read more

Nothing against the store really. But the Armitage store offers to submit the paperwork for out of network insurance. Beware of this as i went there just for that reason. What a nightmare this is...still ongoing. Just don't count on anyone you contact on the phone to help, from supervisor to anyone else as they don't know their own policy on this. All i hear is we never process out ou f network and will give you an itemized bill for YOU to process on your own. Explained to them they do process this and they said no....they even check with supervisors to confirm they don't. So i checked with my insurance and confirmed they never received my claim....i then went to anagram who process this for warby. This is a review of the location, not the company in general. I believe this is the largest store in the city, and if not, it's certainly up there. This means that they always have all the current stock available in store to try on. This is huge for me. Although the at home try on is convenient, being able to avoid unnecessary contact with the post office is even better. I've had experiences at all the Warby stores in the city, and I prefer this location because I've found the staff here to be the most knowledgeable and competent. I've needed *real* reading glasses for the better part of a year. I'd been making do with stealing my husband's glasses whenever I needed to read a menu at a restaurant or a book before bed. He grew quite annoyed that I didn't have my own pair, and he was constantly making comments about how my various face creams and such were smearing the lenses. Eventually he went to Costco and bought me some old-lady readers, but finally I realized I needed, nay, deserved, a proper pair of glasses. I had never even had an eye exam before, let alone bought glasses, so I didn't even know where to start. Warby Parker always stood out to me because the glasses are very stylish, so I figured it was as good a place as any. Once I learned that for every pair purchased, WP donates a pair to someone in need. How awesome is that?! I had a terrific experience. Everyone from the optometrist, to the person who wrote up my order for frames and lenses, was friendly and helpful. The doctor was funny and charming, and assured me that at my age, glasses are more of the rule rather than the exception; most people need them (at least to read). I'd always had better than 20/20 vision my whole life, so I was bummed at eventually having to face the cold, hard truth: that my eyes weren't seeing as well as when I was younger. Getting older sucks, doesn't it? I wanted frames that were stylish, but didn't look like I was trying too hard to look cool. It's a fine line. I tried on a bunch of frames from their vast selection, and found the perfect pair of tortoiseshell frames. I only needed them for reading (thus I don't wear them all day), so I also didn't feel the need to spend a ton of money either. WP was very reasonably priced. Although they don't take vision insurance, I was able to use FSA money. I am quite happy, and now I can see again. It's a whole new world! If you're looking for a cheap pair of plastic frames that look fashionable then this is definitely the place to go. At this point I have two pairs of Warby Glasses and I love them and fully intend on purchasing more in the future when I need them. The show room provides a lot of options, though sometimes it's hard to distinguish what's REALLY different between some of the options. The staff can sometimes be a little aloof but are really friendly and attentive when they know you need help. I think the aloofness just comes from them needing a better system of keeping track of who is or is not being helped in the store. You order the frames in store and can either pick them up with the prescription later or have them mailed to you, free of charge. Adjustments can be made free at Warby Parker for your glasses. And, customer service online is particularly great at being responsive, helpful, and accommodating. Bear in mind, Warby specializes in plastic glasses with some partial and fully wired frames available as well as a part of their selection but if you are looking for something else, this is probably not the best place to go. But, for what it is, affordable, plastic frames, this place can't be beat! read more

I have been to this location to see Dr. Patel for 2 years, even though Warby is outside of my insurance. I just really like going there! Obviously, the ambiance in Warby is great, but the people who work there are helpful and nice. The doctor is personable, easy to work with, and knowledgable. I was attracted to Warby Parker because of their slogan that you can get high-quality frames for only $95. I liked how they were more hip and chic and not so clinical like a Pearle Vision or Vision Works. They were much friendlier with good return policies and great customer service also. And they appeal to millennials which is nice. Lastly, the quality of the frames seemed really great. I bought my first pair of frames and so far I've had them for over 2 years. Now it's time for a new prescription but the only thing I don't like about Warby Parker is that they don't make their own kind of frames they just follow trends... Maxwell Murray (Armitage Chicago) gave me some space to 'struggle' with the generous display before walking me over to the PERFECT frames for my face size & shape and my grey hair. Without Maxwell I would have left the shop with no plan. He asked me questions about my goals that I really "had to sleep on" - most notably - progressive tri-focals, bi-focals or just readers? It took me a WHILE to get glasses because I thought it would have been such a hassle. I finally set up an appointment with Warby Parker for my eye exam. I made my appointment online, the eye exam took no longer than 20 minutes, I walked around the store for another 20 minutes to try on every style/size/color they had to offer and had my glasses ordered. I had my new glasses within the week! It was such an easy process from start to finish. Now I can see crystal clear all the time! I went with the bigger sized Louise (they offer a small) in the tortoise color. I get so many compliments on them and always reply with "They're from Warby!" without hesitation. I also have the Foley in the clear frame and love those! Price wise, $95 and I have a pair of glasses I can guarantee to fit my face. I go to their location on Armitage. I've stopped in two times without an appointment over the course of the last year to have my glasses cleaned and adjusted (tightened around my ears/face), and someone has always been happy to assist, free of charge! I've heard of people ordering glasses online through third party generic websites. Sure, those are cheap in price, but I guarantee those people did not get the satisfaction of the customer service Warby Parker provides to make sure you actually like the frames you wear, and they they continuously fit and look good on you. I had read an article about a year ago about Warby Parker offering a line of glasses for folks with wider faces. It's no secret, I have a big head. I get it from my Dad's side. So when I found about glasses for wider faces, I had to check it out! My PIC was the Osi V and at our first visit immediately found frames that we each liked and looked good on us. They have frames for wide, medium and narrow faces. The frames are all stylish and modern and just fun. Fast forward several months and we each have our eye glass prescription in hand so we visit again to place our orders. The service at WP is stellar. They are so friendly so ordering frames/lenses here is a breeze. Since we each had our own script, we didn't have to make an appointment, they were able to assist us no problem. They quoted a 7-10 day shipping service but mine arrived after 5 days. And shipping is free! My glasses arrived safely and packaged so nicely in a nice glasses case. The fit was a little off, but I've worn glasses since I was 12 so I was able to make some adjustments on my own. They do welcome you to come back for adjustments so I wasn't too worried if I couldn't fix it on my own. I tried on a few frames at my optometrist's store last week. The only pair that I left considering would have cost $267 AFTER my VSP benefits. (Check out the Luxottica story by 60 Minutes!) I didn't even like them that much and weren't a name brand. Warby Parker changed my hatred for frame shopping! I had limited time to pick out a pair of frames during my visit, and they had a huge selection! I told the sales associate what I was looking for. He directed me to a section of frames he recommended. There were about 8 styles in that section, and the color options were all displayed together (hooray for organized frame shopping!). He showed me one pair but allowed me to browse through the other 7 styles. I texted my husband some pictures while trying them on. I also tried them on for the sales associate. He showed me a couple more options. I loved their low pressure approach as I browsed. They only approached when asked and happy to provide their objective, expert assistance. The consensus was soon clear. After less than 5 minutes, I ended up with the initial style he recommended in a darker shade. I opted for high index lenses which were only $30 more!!! The lenses are already equipped with UV protection, anti-glare, and scratch resistance. For just $125, I have a stylish pair of frames en route to my house in 7-10 business days. Icing on the cake? Shopping at Warby Parker is an incredible experience. First, let me preface by saying I called around to get some basic pricing info. The boutique eyewear shops of Chicago basically charge $400+ on the most basic rx sunglasses. Warby is $175. Allie helped me pick out some glasses and she was so kind, patient, and helpful. I have a huge head and we even poked the dark lenses out of some sunglasses to find a pair that fit right. The place as packed but Allie remained super professional and helpful. A true retail superstar. Gina was also super helpful with my glasses tune up. Great staff, great products, great pricing. Warby Parker is the future of eyewear. read more
