They don't have any places to sit unless you're meeting with someone, and if everyone is busy you're stuck standing around... so if you're disabled, you may have a bit of a problem here. It would be good if they remedied this with a few chairs for waiting customers to use. Hopefully they'll find an accommodation for you if you need it. I arrived 10-15 minutes early for my appointment and was helped about 10 minutes past the time it was to start. I do appreciate that rather than help the 2-3 parties behind me first, they asked those folks to have a seat so they could get me checked in. I got in with the doctor 25 minutes after my appointment time. Dr. Ward was very friendly and efficient. I was in with her for about 7 minutes. So although there was a fair bit of waiting time and my appointment started late, I paid and was out of the store within 50-55 minutes of arriving. Interestingly, they didn't have me try the contacts on or anything. That may also be because I've worn contacts since I was a teenager and planned to stick with the contacts I've been wearing the last couple years, so they weren't concerned about checking the fit or anything. But what was more surprising is that they didn't really seem to have a place for someone to put them on anyway, unless there was a sink in the exam room that I didn't notice. I'm not sure if I'd come back, though. I don't think I've ever had an eye exam that quick, and I know I've had the part where they compare different views "1 or 2, 3 or 4" go longer than that. It didn't seem as thorough an exam, and my prescription changed quite a bit on the face of it. Perhaps changing axis from 170 to 20 isn't as big as it sounds... but neither that, nor the reason for the shorter exam, were explained to me, and I couldn't help but wonder why (and I hope the busy waiting room didn't have anything to do with it). read more

Dr. Rabia is FANTASTIC! I love when I get scheduled with her. She's very passionate about eye care and gives you solid advice. There's no "stupid" questions with her. She's also so great about explaining what she's looking at during the exams, with her I actually understand what's going on and I always end up learning something new! All the other employees at this location are always very nice as well, it's always a great experience. I've been coming to this Target Optical for about 8 years and each time it's always a pleasant experience with other doctors as well, bur Rabia is by far my favorite! As far as COVID procedures they require a mask during the entire appointment. I did see some people come in without one and they will provide you with one if needed. They wiped all equipment down before using it. I felt very comfortable with their sanitization. I thought I'd throw this in as well if that's something you're curious about. read more

LET ME START OF MY SAYING THAT THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE POSSIBLY MADE. I ran into my appointment a little late but Ernest was more than graceful helping me with the insurance paperwork. Once everything was situated Dr. Ward took me in and I can honestly say she was the nicest, most helpful optometrist I've been to in my 19 years of wearing glasses/contacts. I walked out extremely happy with a new prescription, trial pair of contact lenses, and an order of a 6 month supply. It's been two days since this wonderful experience and I've ALREADY received my new pair of contact lenses. Had an eye exam and glasses made here. The exam was fine. The glasses started blurring and could not be thoroughly cleaned after 4 weeks.. I learned that this was due to the anti-reflective coating that target uses. read more

Instead of explaining my insurance was not accepted the receptionist mislead me and did not explain that their facility was out of network. Absolutely love this location! First off, booking an eye appointment is SO easy! There is always a time available when I want to go in. And the location couldn't be more convenient! Who doesn't love shopping at Target beforehand (or afterwards)?! The place is clean and bright with a great variety of choices for eyewear as well as contact lenses. Staff is incredibly nice and professional. I wasn't happy with the current brand of contact lenses I was using (recommended by an outside optometry office) and my optometrist here recommended another brand which are the best contacts I've ever used in my life. I'm so incredibly happy with them! Dr. Le loves her job and it comes through to make your appointment pleasurable! She is professional and my appointment was super quick. She listened to my concerns about not being able to see as far, and answered my questions about the pre-tests with enthusiasm, even showed me some "bad" scans from the retina scans so I could see how good my eyes were! The man and woman in the front of the office, and the man who helped me broke everything down based on my insurance, and made sure I used my red card for even more of a discount on my frames. Still Need to Make an Appointment to See other Eye Doctor I went there with my parent to do eye examinations. Eye examinations have been done and new eyeglasses were prescribed. We both cannot see clearly through them. Everything was very expensive (it was over $ 1000 for everything despite having insurance). I've been going to Rosin Eyecare for years and, let's be clear: I still love them. Buuuuutttttt.... I was getting a bit tired of spending more money to go there than another place and their location is ultra-inconvenient for people who drive since there's ZERO street parking and tons of un-validated, $30 parking at the NMH lot kiddie corner from the eye place. SIGH. So, enter Target Optical. I moved to Uptown and really began to love the Target in the neighborhood. I noticed pretty early that they had an Optical center that seemed pretty busy on the regular. I decided to give it a try since I frequent this Target often and I can walk to it in like three minutes. Super. Satisfied. I called, the person who answered was incredibly friendly, appointment was made in less than five minutes and was promptly seen when I arrived for my appointment. Great and friendly service, quick but thorough appointment and and more quickness when I ended the appointment and checked out. Since this is Target, the price for daily contacts is WAY lower than most eye care places and 1800-Contacts. I've had a few follow-up phone calls since to remind me to make next year's appointment and to purchase new contacts since I only initially bought a three-month supply. I've been highly satisfied with the attention, care and service I received here and I will definitely go back next year for my annual eye check. read more

Very unexpected but great experience. I opted out of vision insurance at work b/c I don't get an eye exam every year. I was looking for a place that was cost effective and stumbled upon some good reviews about Target Optical. I called on a Monday morning and they were able to see me within half an hour since they had an opening. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and not pushy on sales at all. I told her I didn't have vision insurance, however, I did have Aetna Medical. She said she would check to see if Aetna had a discount. Lo and behold Aetna does offer a discount on both eye exam and eye glasses!! I ended up paying a copay plus a small balance on the exam and saved 40%. Dr. Sheade was friendly, worked fast and answered questions that I had. Will definitely recommend. read more

He asked me multiple times if I had any questions, explained the process of the instruments he was using as well as some technical stuff about the eye. Conjunctivitis is not a great birthday gift, but that didn't matter. Dr Le did a great job wth my initial exam. My old brand of contacts had been drying out like crazy. She switched me to Air Optix, and we were good to go... for a few months. They lasted 4 weeks, the next batch 3 weeks, the next batch 1 week. The next available appointment was on my birthday. Yay. Dr Schaede was fast and efficient, and very clear in explaining why my eyes had such a reaction to contacts. He made sure I got the most cost-effective RX, and when my pharmacy didn't have the drops he recommended, he directed me to a place that does. Since I need to switch to daily lenses once my eyes heal, I decided to replace my 3-year-old frames with some new glasses to wear to work and just reserve contacts for weekends and Date Nights. Jacquey was very helpful with the new frames, helped me find the best discounts, and when she found out it was my birthday, nabbed an extra birthday coupon for me. For the first time in my life, I have vision insurance (Humana). So I decided to "splurge" and get a pair of prescription sunglasses. (I bike so much that it would be wonderful not to have the sun in my eyes! I envy those who can just pop any old pair of sunglasses on.) I've also had my current glasses for about 1.5-2 years, and I could tell they weren't fully correcting for my astigmatism so I wanted to get a new prescription that did. (I had a bit of blurriness that wasn't corrected by squinting.) I'm a few blocks away from this location, and I saw it had good reviews, so I went to the website and signed up for an eye exam for Sunday. The signup on the site was smooth, and a few hours later I got a call confirming it. I came in the next day, and was greeted by Nick, then had an exam with Dr. Ross. Both were very pleasant to work with, and Dr. Ross was efficient and knowledgeable about sunglasses options, and about what circumstances probably contributed to my current prescription not being 100% right (in short--I went from ages 18-28 with one pair of glasses and the same prescription, so he felt the previous doctor didn't want to strain my eyes by correcting all the way with that big of a prescription jump. Now that I've had a few years at my current strength, we could correct it the rest of the way). Afterwards, I picked up a few frames to try, and Jacqueline helped me out. I told her this was the first time I had insurance for this type of thing, and she turned the screen towards me and we went over options to see what my insurance would cover and what it wouldn't. She was also helpful with identifying what frames of the ones I'd chosen looked best on me--a plus because my eyes are so bad that when my glasses are off (or I have model frames on with no prescription) I can barely see myself in a mirror without pushing my nose to the glass. Also, the ones she thought looked best were actually the cheapest by over $100, so clearly she wasn't trying to pressure me into a big $$$ sale! Which is awesome because I hate pushy salespeople. So all and all, it went well. I'll update when I get my glasses in--they said about 2 weeks. One tip - if you want to buy glasses on the web afterwards, ask them for your prescription and pupil distance (PD). I didn't get it by default, but when I asked it was all written out for me on a half-page form. read more

I love my visits to this Target Optical. In the past I had gone to boutique eye doctors and had okay experiences. I ended up with a cute pair of classes but oftentimes a slightly damaged ego and definitely a damaged wallet. All the staff - including the doctors - at Target are extremely friendly, personable and honest. They'll let you know what looks good and what doesn't, why your eye sight is improving or becoming worse, etc - they take a genuine interest in you with not an ounce of pretentiousness. The fifth star is due to their savvy with eye insurance - I was able to get a years supply of contacts and a new, snazzy pair of glasses and pay for my visit for the same amount as I was able to pay for my visit and get a years supply of contacts at other places. Target Optical at this location has a great product at a decent price. Because of that they are super busy. You need an appointment and you might have to wait ten business days to get your glasses. An exam with dilation is $105. I bought two pairs for $430. My lens are an extra big deal because my prescription is so complicated. I had to wait an extra week for the second pair so they refunded 10% of the second pair. If I had gone to one of the local Lakeview optical boutiques one pair would have been at least $500 and frequently the product isn't very good. The cheapy two for one places won't even try to make my lens. Basically I thank G-d I can see at all. read more

I decided to cancel my appointment at Spex and instead came here. I could not have been happier with my experience. Dr. Le was very professional and the technology made the appointment go by very quickly, without a lot of reading, covering eyes, etc ... The associate who worked at the desk (I forget his name) was extremely helpful, from recommending particular glasses to helping optimize my insurance benefits to get the most for my money. I've been seeing Dr. Sheade for a few years now, and I'll never go anywhere else. He's a great doctor, and everyone in the practice is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Going to Dr. Le was the best optometrist experience I've had. Usually when I go to the optometrist office, they just sit me down, give me the exam, prescription, then done. With Dr. Le, she takes the time to ask about you and how your eyes are doing and is really concise with with her exam. Dr. Le gave me a sample of some eye drops because my eyes were dry, and they made a huge difference. While I was getting the prepping before the exam, I saw that she had new and clean medical equipment. I asked her about one of the devices and it takes a picture of your eyeball to see if your retina is still in place and all the blood vessels in your eye. I have been a client at the Target Optical in uptown for 07 years. Through out the years, I have gotten my yearly exams, glasses and contacts lenses from them. The staff has always been very personable, patient, pleasant and professional. That's until last week, when I spoke to one of their staff members, Thea. I was scheduling a future appointment when them. Her demeanor was just plain rude, short and overall unpleasant. I thought she was just having a bad day. Didn't pay to much attention. We all have "those type of bad days". Today, I contacted them again to reschedule last week's appointment secondary to a personal matter. Once again, she was rude, unpleasant and unprofessional. This type of behavior is non productive for businesses. Customer services is what make businesses grow. I will NEVER do business with Target Optical in Uptown. My appointment was done in no time at all but was not rushed, she looked over my file and we talked about my last prescription and the new one to make sure I was getting the best benefit. While initially would have given this place four stars I had and issue today where I was in need of a quick replacement after losing one and was near the store. After calling to explain Was told that they don't sell single use lenses even though it was an emergency and wanted me to pay for a years worth even after explaining I had already ordered some and they hadn't been delivered yet. This was never an issue at the last target optical used while living near the west loop location. Moving forward I'll take my business back to west loop. read more
