The DR was very attentive to my questions, and answered them all. I suffer from an eye condition called Map-dot-fingerprint dystrophy. It basically causes me to have slight double vision. The doctor suggested I try prisms in my glasses to help with this. No other eye doctor had ever suggested this. I now see much clearer than I have in years. I've been coming here to see Dr Mokaya for years, over 10 years. She is the best eye doctor I've ever had, so knowledgeable, while also being relatable and kind. She has excellent bedside manners for an eye doctor. I've seen Dr Geiderman at this location as well when Mokaya was busy and she was also fantastic! I think it's safe to say that all the eye doctors at this location kick ass. The other people who work here are also lovely and friendly people. I'd always recommend Dr Mokaya to anyone who's needing an eye doctor bc she's just the best imo. There's usually easy pay to park out on Lincoln at this location. read more

Second year having Dr. Mokaya evaluate our eyes. After moving to Chicago we were really sad to leave our Optometrist in AZ. I found this place after a good hour of reading different reviews. I came here just for Dr. Mokaya. Not a bad thing to say about her ever. I trult value her medical opinion and know she isn't just trying to up sell. Location is off Lincoln. Under construction right now but there is a parking lot in the back of Barry. It is a metered lot but 2.50 per hour so not horrible. You can walk right into the office through the back door. Exam is thorough. Patient history is reviewed. Dr was able to spot issue with eyes promptly. Dr. Mokaya is also conservative with prescription adjustments. Takes the time to think about life factors before authorizing certain scripts. Selection of glasses are hit and miss. I would say plenty of high end glasses available. When it comes to more economical glasses this is where this place falls short. They carry RayBan, Oliver Peoples, Alain Mikli, Tom Ford, Oakley, Giorgio Armani, Tiffany, Prada, Burberry and many other popular brands. Along with contacts from Acuvue, Coopervision, and Alcon. Service and Value is good. Quick turnaround for glasses. Sometimes same day depending on difficulty in lenses. They also have a good insurance plan for eye glass repair. Should of opted for that as I scratched my lenses. Front office staff and eye assistance are friendly here. I would say a minor upgrade is needed for patient records. We had to fill out paperwork for exam chart that should already be preprinted for return patients. read more

Dr. Andrea has been our family optometrist for about ten years. She takes her time addressing our concerns. Helped our son when he wanted to wear contacts and was struggling with placing his contacts on his eyes. The staff at this office are always helpful and thoughtful. This is a challenging review for me because I had a bad experience from a manufacturer and an error from an employee at this location leading me to become a frequent visitor of Pearl vision however they were very accommodating and provided good service each time hence the 5star review. I'd never been to a pearl vision so this years insurance sent me their way. Had a nice easy eye exam, picked out some frames and went on my merry way. Frames were supposed to come in in a week since I was ordering but after two weeks I received a call saying they were delayed but should be in soon. I called back in two weeks and they said they were still delayed and they would keep working to get them. After two months I called back and they said the manufacturer didn't give a date but they could make up another pair of glasses for me to use the in mean time. I took them up on that option, picked up my new glasses and started wearing. They were great but I was still eager to get the ones I actually ordered. To my pleasure another month later they showed up. I went back to pick them up, got fitted and went back on my way. About a month later I noticed they were flexing in a way that didn't seem right so I took them back to the store and was told that they needed to break totally to get replaced. I communicated that I only had them for a month after waiting two to get them, so she said she would talk to her manager for a replacement. To my surprise on Monday morning, I got a call saying the manager approved and the frames were on their way. One week later, got another call that they were in. Couldn't believe how fast so I ran on over to pick up but to my dismay, the wrong ones were ordered so I left empty handed. They reordered the correct ones and told me they would call when they came in. Two weeks later they were in and I came back to finally receive my new glasses. Needless to say, I got them, and they fit. I'm hoping after a month they don't have the same issue. That said, the staff treated me well and I don't fault them for the manufacturer's issues. Wow we loved it at Pearle Vision on Lincoln Ave. I took my mom there and it was such a streamlined, orderly, organized experience with a lot of warmth and welcome. KEVIN was fantastic. My mom found the cutest glasses, they were actually rather wacky--perfect for my mom since she has a history of choosing unique and rather wacky glasses and she was sooooo happy about that. This was my first time receiving an eye exam and I was extremely nervous because I had a sense that I needed glasses and I had no idea what the process entitled. The team at Pearle Vision was absolutely wonderful. They walked me through the process right from the start to ensure that I was comfortable. The doctor was so kind, patience, and helpful during the exam process. When she did in fact confirm that I need glasses she did not make me feel guilty or wrong for waiting so long. When it came to picking out a frame, lens additions, etc the lady who assisted me was such a great support and guide. I tried like 15 pairs and she was honest and straightforward with me on what complimented my facial features. Once I found a frame I liked she sat down with me to go over what my insurance covered and she provided me various price options based off what they offered. It was such a seamless process and we came to the perfect plan. As far as Covid-19 procedures, you needed a appointment to enter the location as they kept the door locked to limit the number of customers in the store. They had hand sanitizer upon entering and ensured when filling out paper work I had a fresh pen. After trying on frames, I had to put them on a sanitation table. They probably don't need another great review, but the total deserve it - best eye exam experience ever! I hadn't been to an eye doctor in about three years, partly due to what I've commonly experienced elsewhere (appointments that take forever, pushy sales staff, doctors who are checked out, etc.). There was none of that here. I was in for my exam and out the door again in about 30 minutes - it took me longer to pick my new frames than anything else. Note that Pearle offers an optional part of the exam for an upcharge, and when I declined I didn't get any kind of hassle or pushback the way I would have from other places. Also, kudos to Dr. Andrea who suggested an improved newer, and far more comfortable, version of the contacts I'd been using. Why the place I went last time didn't mention these, I'll never know (yes, the newer version was on the market at that time). Finally, the staff there could not have been nicer. Super laid back and helpful. Plus, when I showed up to pick up my glasses 30 minutes past their closing time (completely my fault - I didn't check their hours), they said it wasn't a big deal since the doctor was still there and helped me in a relaxed manner rather than kicking me out the door. Don't give them your email address!! Just recently I began getting emails from this Pearl Vision. It started with- confirm your appointment (which I did not have). I ignored the email the first few times, but then they kept coming. I scrolled down to unsubscribe and there is no such option. In order to be removed from their marketing emails you must call the store location. This is a completely unnecessary step with I suspect the idea is that most people won't take the time to call the store, but just keep letting the emails coming through their email. One star for this obviously bad email campaign I never signed up for. read more

They have a decent selection of frames. Do not have their frame adjuster adjust your glasses. He did a really poor job, where he actually bent my Oliver Peoples frames in a really weird way. He also had a really terrible attitude about getting the frames adjusted to fit. I would also say that the customer service was great all the way up until I paid for everything. He quickly grasped my style and with his impeccable taste, I was able to find the perfect glasses! Didn't realize how much of a difference quality lenses made until I bought a bargain pair from a discount store. You get what you pay for. So glad I came back to Pearl Vision! I have been to this Pearle Vision 4 times now. It is not the closest Pearle Vision to my house. In fact, living on the northwest side of the city, it's definitely out of my way. And yet, each time I come here I am reminded as to why I do. Their staff goes above and beyond to provide helpful, instructive, and friendly service. They work very hard to provide the best quality frames for the best possible price. The fact that they have a technician in the building that can work on my lenses while I'm there and have them ready (sometimes within 30 minutes) is the cherry on top. Avoid this Pearle Vision at all costs! The DR. gave me the wrong prescription and attempted to blame it on my eyes!!! "It worries me that your eyes have changed for the worse in such a short time period..." Not at all true - she just plain messed up!!! The staff is very unprofessional and refused to take any responsibility for giving me the wrong prescription. I had to deal with horrible headaches for a month before I figured out why! When I went back to Pearle Vision to notify them what had happened, it felt like they were treating me as if I had stolen something. I will always have nice things to say about Dr. Elizabeth Mokaya (Dr. Beth) because she saved me from going around with one contact lens for a month. She's nice, professional, friendly, quick and listens. The downside to the location is the other doctor there is incredibly bossy. She KEPT trying to convince me to purchase that scan that takes a photo of your eye although it doesn't do much good for me at all. Then she was determined to try to put my contact lens in my own eye after dilating my eyes when Dr. Beth was out. I found her to be entirely too aggressive. And then I spent more money on the nearby parking meters than I would've on an actual lunch. And even creepier, someone called me pretending to be Dr. Beth about my contacts but got caught doing it because she made a comment and said, "When Dr. Beth..." I called whoever it was out immediately and asked why would she speak in third person. Then the person stumbled and claimed she really was Dr. Beth. It was too weird for me, but I'd already paid for my contacts and glasses. I'll never be going back to this location, but for those of you who choose to, I recommend Dr. Beth. Now as far as the reception area, some people are really nice. Others not so much. I remember one receptionist acted like he was doing me a favor when I called to ask a couple of questions via phone. He had a bit of a condescending attitude, but maybe he was just having a bad day (for multiple days). And nobody (not the doctor or assistants) felt the need to tell me how heavy my prescription of glasses would be on my face. They mentioned how thick glasses would be but not how heavy. And I've been stuck with a pair of glasses that leave that nose mark on the side of my face, which I never have gotten with any other pair of glasses in 24 years of wearing them. read more

So, here's a funny/sad story. I had the same glasses/contacts Rx for roughly 2 years. I started to realize that, soon after getting this Rx (NOT from Pearle, mind you, but from a shall-remain-unnamed place that definitely does not rhyme with Schmens Schmafters), I really couldn't see all that well. Now, one would think you'd be like "hey, this isn't right!" ... but not me. I was all "well, maybe THIS is how I'm supposed to see?" ... Anyway. One day about a month ago, my boyfriend asked for some help with Excel, so I went to the computer to try to help him, "Hold on a second," I said, "I need to put on my glasses." I return, put on my glasses, only to realize I ALREADY HAD MY CONTACTS IN and just couldn't see. Needless to say, the next call I made was to Pearle Vision for a new checkup. Fast forward, I meet with the doctor (unfortunately I don't remember which she was, but she was SUPER nice) and sure enough, my Rx has been pretty wrong this entire time. Jeff helped me pick out my frames & was insanely helpful... very patient with my indecisiveness & giving great feedback, and even had a specific frame sent to the store so I could try it on a week later before purchasing. He helped me with the price & figuring out my insurance & all that jazz, so that was much appreciated as well. I left Pearle with a new Rx, new contacts, new glasses & Rx sunglasses, along with a new revolution of SEEING! I think I was so overjoyed to see, that I wanted all the things to enjoy this newfound sense of mine. They even fixed my old glasses so they weren't falling off my face. Man, I sound like a hot mess. It feels almost silly to rank an vision center a "Woohoo! As good as it gets!," but this place has EARNED this ranking. It is a remarkable place. I have been seeing Dr Andrea Johnson-Grote for years (and years), and she is always professional, interested and quick with a smile or a laugh. Though she might not always remember my name, she always remembers my wife and I when we go in, and always makes us feel welcome with her easy congeniality and happy disposition. All the staff is great, not just Dr Andrea. Jeff does remember my name when I go in, and always has me laughing or is engaging me with witty conversation about this topic or what book I have been reading. As a team they work to make you feel this is YOUR community place to go for eye care, contacts and eye glasses. The feel of the place reminds me of my grandfather's small town pharmacy. He knew everyone, everyone knew him. It is a happy thing to go see the eye doctor. And the staff doesn't turn over much either. Same smiling faces, same consistent service, same willingness to do the hard work to figure out the insurance BS, always done with a smile and customer attentiveness that makes you really believe YOU DO matter to each of them as a customer. I had Dr. Beth, and she was the perfect combination of friendly (but not overly friendly) and professional. I was in and out quickly. I was worried beforehand that I would have trouble parking, so I scheduled my exam during a weekday - no issue parking out front. I fell in love with some Warby Parker glasses online ($95 versus the $300 ones here), and they didn't pressure me to buy anything. Instead they just printed out my prescription and wished me a good day. I overheard an elderly woman come in and complain about her glasses (I think she got them somewhere else a long time ago) and she rudely asked if there were any buy-one-get-one deals here. While I don't think there were any deals available, the sales person was more friendly with her than I would have been and said they would help her out with something. I ding a star because the whole time there was a man loitering around and talking very loudly to everyone, at one point talking about some woman he once dated. He was wearing old jeans and flip flops, and then I happened to notice that he was actually an optometrist - and the owner nonetheless. I guess I just expected him to dress and act more professionally because I was pretty put-off. Overall, I had a great experience and look forward to coming back. read more

I absolutely love this Pearle Vision. I admit I was leary to go back after a bad experience a year ago with the other male doctor. They now have a wonderful woman doctor who has helped me switch from part time glasses/part time contacts to a pair of contacts that I love so much I rarely wear my glasses. After sitting in epic traffic only to get there within 8 minutes of closing, I arrived expecting to just start the process then come back on Saturday to actually get the lenses I needed for my existing frames. They had the lenses in stock and blew me away by saying they'd get then done tonight! Twenty minutes later, I had a pair of perfectly cut lenses back in my super cute frames and I was ready to go. The staff here are amazing. Very warm and welcoming. You can meter park on Lincoln or there is parking in the back. My total time waiting for my appt was no more than 5 minutes. My exam (basic exam) took 15 minutes. The selection of frames for men and women are fashionable and they allowed me to take my time. I spent a while there because I was waiting for my mother to come and help me decide so their patience was much appreciated. I did not have insurance, so not only did they let me double coupon it PLUS my yelp deal, but the ALSO they gave me an extra courteous discount so I could afford two pairs. They are compassionate and care about the customer. Since my glasses would take a couple days they were able to give me a loner until my real lenses came in... WOW!
