What went well!? How about everything! I had a classic storage issue: too much stuff and nowhere to put it. That's where Alicia at Security Public Storage came to the rescue. She was super friendly and explained everything in a thorough and efficient manner. I appreciated her professionalism and her commitment to helping me find the appropriate sized storage space to keep the ridiculous things I'm attached to. I would like to suggest that future storage facilities be constructed where at least one unit is actually an industrial incinerator or compactor that will destroy the contents at the 6 month point. It's not for everyone but I know at least 2 people a year would take advantage of this service. I know I would. read more

When you are signing up, the manager is helpful, she will say if you need anything just let her know. After signing up the attention to detail is gone. My lease? Had to be redone 2x and still isn't correct. Insurance and all that I had to call back and ask for her to send it. My email? Spelled wrong so for the first few days I never got a lease or any documentation to prepare me for the move. I felt like I was the manager the amount of times I had to call to correct legal documentation. Now? I am waiting outside with my movers that I pay by the hour because I never got my access code. There's a lock on my storage which means I'll wait longer. Moving is already so stressful, I shouldn't have to be behind ANYONE for documentation or codes because I'm already juggling everything on my own and my plate is absolutely full. To keep it PG this is BULL CRAP! The only plus is they have good rates, but obviously you get what you pay for. read more

Just reviewed this after a year as I have moved on. However, I read my contract and there was nothing listed in the agreement regarding not refunding pro rats once a person provides a 30 day notice vacating the storage. In addition, I pride myself with being a very clean person, have never in my life had rodents in my home, specifically rats. I was told by one of the associates in the office that your storage units had a rat problem. That was the reason for all of the rat traps outside of the storage units throughout the property. There were no perishables in my storage! Therefore, I recommend prospective customers to look at other storage units before utilizing this one. read more

From experience, I can attest that your information is confidential, your belongings are safe, and they will always work with you. BUYER BEWARE. I rented a unit here while I was traveling for school for a year and a half. I returned today to find my furniture COVERED in rat droppings. The insurance that they make you get through the facility covers "fire, smoke, explosion, and windstorm", but not rodent infestation. Now I'm stuck having to pay to have EVERYTHING I OWN hauled to the dump. What a nauseating waste of a $100 a month. Edit: The contents of my unit was furniture and books, there were no perishables. The rodents used my couch for nesting in addition to chewing my bookcases. The facility seems to keep trying to blame for the loss, like I did something wrong by storing my furniture and paying my rent on time every month. What complete insult to injury. read more

The customer service was horrible from the first day I arrived 9/2014 until last Sunday. The office attendant/manager/security was is always rude, condescending and if I didn't know better I'd say racist. I would love o go into detail on every experience specifically, but it gives me a knot in my stomach just thinking about it and that awful cackling woman Lana or whatever driving up and down the aisles smoking cigarettes and barking into her cell while watching my every move. Rented a 5 x 10 space for $88/mo. Linda & Lonna were so nice and were a pleasure to work with. Very friendly & personable. Every unit is ground level so you'll never have to deal with stairs, hallways or elevators. I would recommend this facility way more than any of the large chain storage facilities. read more

I had recently become disabled after some mutilating surgery to remove part of my leg. After surgery I had to move to a much small place and had to store most of my belongings. My IHSS worker and I picked a self-storage unit nearby (Vallejo, Ca.). It became very difficult flnd a part time job so I fell behind on my payments with this storage unit. They promised to work with me until my stimulus check came My stimulus check came on April 7, and I called them to arrange to make a substantial payment the next day. It was too late.....my belongings were sold that past Friday I was told. Nothing of value but it was my whole life.... My books, all my beloved books for over forty years, my inexpensive tv, my clothes including a big, warm winter coat and my old bed. The women were rude. Unfeeling, even mean, especially a Maria. Ashley the resident manager found my daughter the perfect size Unit all via phone conversation due to Covid-19 between myself, who is in SoCal and my daughter who lives in Vallejo and who needed to move out of her Apartment. I used this Storage Facility for over a year and found it to be quite dependable. Consistant good customer service and a good tight storage with no weather damage or water damage. I would use them again if I needed. the only thing I would offer as a downer is the mall that it's located in. The in and out are inconvenient and there is no place to park when you go to speak to the office. It's not a fault of the business but it's a consideration. read more

This place has the worst customer service. I spoke to Alissia (sp?) who was very rude and told me " the owner was a very busy man and I wouldn't get what I was asking for anyways. I am still waiting to hear back from said owner. Late fees of $15 and $25 were added to my moms account while she lays in the ICU on a ventilator. I had my brother call in to bring the account current after I found about this account from going through her things. They refused to waive the late fees. Now I don't know what kind of business wouldn't waive a fee on an account when someone in the hospital and clearly couldn't pay. Nevertheless I brought the account current after to make sure her things wouldn't be lost. I was then told that now that the account was current they couldn't remove the late fees as the account had a zero balance. Now really?! I don't believe I was asking for much under the circumstances. And to still now have heard from anyone is just bad business. I wish I could give less than one star. read more

My first impressions was that this storage facility has a highly secure front gate and is professionally supervised by staff. Cameras everywhere and alarms are on every storage unit. That gives me peace of mind knowing that this facility is always being monitored and my personal property will be safe. I read some of the previous reviews and wanted to add this: Lana was just wonderful. I don't understand the two reviews that are not complimentary to Lana. I was in the process of moving my things from Hayward to storage. One morning as I was plugging in my code to enter storage I got a call from the apartment I THOUGHT I had that the people decided they would stay!!!!!! I had already given my 30 day notice !!!!! I went in and told Lana. Lana immediately went on line and helped me find some apartments. Now....that's what I call above and beyond.
