Can we say clean clean clean! This facility is very kept well, not to mention the 2 gentlemen working the office were very helpful and made the process very stress free. Sometimes we may be skeptical about leaving our things in a storage but this place looks and feels safe. Thank you to Barry and Tyler for the great service! Oh and they offered me water on a hot day that was awesome. Thank you again and I will be sure to recommend SPS to everyone! read more

John and Marianne are great and the process was easy. Great location in San Mateo and the rates are really good for storage on the Peninsula. Really happy with the cleanliness of the property as well. read more

Marianne and John are great! They are very responsive and provide fantastic customer service. We've rented a storage unit there for the past three years and they have helped us as our needs have changed. Wouldn't trust our belongings with anyone else. read more

Friendly staff and a clean facility. I have stored here for years and always found the experience to be satisfactory. There are always plenty of trolley carts to use for big items. There are also handy items (boxes, tarps, tape, etc) available to purchase in the office. Very convenient location and they are closed only a few holidays per year. read more

I've been using Security Public Storage for half a year now and must say that everyone I have dealt with is profession and very service-oriented. Couldn't be happier with the place. Everything is clean and orderly and the staff if super courteous and go out of their way to help out whenever possible. For example, one day, I used my locker and forgot to put a lock on my space (duh!). The staff actually put a lock on for me until I came back again so that nothing was stolen or tampered with. Now THAT'S service. I highly recommend these guys! They get my highest rating! read more

I've shopped around and Joan & Michael over at SPS in San Mateo have always been very kind to us and given us the best price possible. They even gave me a deal for being on the first floor. The place is very convenient to get to - near downtown San Mateo, 101, 92 and even when you get inside, the units are all "right there". It's clean, safe, quiet - even a clean bathroom in the office. The passcode to enter the property also turns the alarm off in your unit. When you leave, you enter it again and the unit's alarm goes back up. Cameras and and computers everywhere. I think it's one of the best around. read more

I've has my storage there for years. Staff has always been nice, but the current staff is outstanding! Desire has called me to remind me about my due date to help me avoid Late Fees. Now THAT's Customer Service. Access times are convenient, and I can't think of anything that they don't offer (including trucks for rent). read more

Best storage company I ever used. I was referred by a friend and glad I was. It is secure with 24 hour security, yes people who live on the property, clean, and awesome service, Desiree was the most helpful in what I needed to store and it all worked out to my benefit without spending too much money. Rates are great!!! I would refer them to every and any one in the San Mateo county!!! read more

Used Security Public Storage for a short period of time but had a great experience. The price was right, the location was clean and safe. Great location. Desiree was great to work with! Thumbs up....here! read more

I have been with security public storage for 4 years and they have always been great with us in helping to down size when we had two units and now we have one unit which is so much better. As time has change we had gone through two management teams and never had a problem, we always had wonderful help. We are so very grateful for having a team that works with you and helps to get a better price for you. Thank you security public storage. David Padilla read more

Not a good experience here at all regarding my unit. Anyone renting here make sure to measure your unit before putting some stuff in. I rented a unit a month ago that I believe was supposed to be a 5 x 10 ft unit. I thought it looked a little tiny since I had a 5 x 9 in SD for my stuff but thought I must be wrong and am getting what I paid for. After putting half of the stuff in I knew I must be right and measured the unit and it was 4ft 10 inch by 8 ft 9 Inches. Now if it was off 4 to 6 inches I am ok with it but by being off over 10% was ridiculous. I asked if I could have a small 1 ft area for the extra area and she said no. I wasn't going to move everything out and switch locations so had to pack my car full with the excess stuff to manage. It was a major hindrance and the lady just kept saying I want to make you happy what can I do and told her the suggestion of the extra foot somewhere or a discount of 10% since it is over 10% smaller than what I paid and she said she couldn't do that or help me move stuff already inside to a different unit. We kept going in circles and was a lost cause since they just keep saying what can I do to help but they wouldn't offer me anything beneficial other than me moving all of the stuff I had already put in the unit to another storage area a ways away.. Water under the bridge now but was a great lesson on saying you want to do whats right in customer service and doing nothing. Other than that everything was good and nice people at the facility so I will give it a star for that. . Short story check your size of your unit before moving stuff in which I didn't measure and made me look foolish. read more

I want to start off with saying the interim Manager Desiree is awesome! Always very helpful, informative and friendly. This place has gone through a series of new managers over the last few years. My first complaint was when my first unit was getting crowded and the next unit became available, the old manager took down the wall and I was able to get a discount for renting a larger unit. When it happened again and I wanted to rent the next unit next to me the new manager said they didn't do that, but I could upgrade to a larger unit. When I talked to Desiree she told me they can do that and she's not sure why the Manager told me otherwise. The new management moved in about a week ago, and as I was leaving they approached me and said I needed to be sure to be out by 8 o'clock or I would be locked in. It was close to 8. Although, it may have sounded like they were being courteous, it came across a little rude an accusing. I came by 2 days after Memorial Day and the office was closed 6 minutes before 6 o'clock. The paper signs saying they would be closed for the holiday were still up throughout the facility. A few other cons; the facilities are not climate controlled so it can get rather hot when the temperature rises. I have seen mouse droppings, probably because some folks have unwittingly stored food even though they aren't supposed to. I have smelled smoke in the facility as someone smokes there, even though it isn't allowed. The tops of the unit are all open, so it is possible for someone to take a ladder and pull small stuff out of other people's storage units. read more

If you're in the market for a shorter term storage unit, I recommend this hidden place in San Mateo. The staff here are super helpful & accommodating! read more

Very disappointed after paying a premium compared to a nearby competitor. Problems: 1) was told that I could use truck for BOTH move-in AND move-out. Yet when wanting to reserve if for move-out Manager just hid behind company policy and used the lame excuse that "Bob who told you that is no longer with the company and was inexperienced". Same with 2) Was told how much better and more convenient their more expensive drive-up units are - so rented one of them instead of significantly cheaper internal unit. Was NEVER told that they are INCREDIBLY DUSTY and that dust blows in through top of rollup door. So did not use anything to cover belongings. Again excuse was used that Bob is no longer with company. No attempt was made to rectify either of those 2 problems. Apathy was shown when I said I am extremely disappointed by this and would post about my negative experience on Yelp and never rent from them again due to this attitude. read more

When I first came to the storage unit I met a lovely manager name Desirre who understood my best friend and I were college students down the street. She helped us with discounts and realized that we both were not from the bay area and when we went home we can split payments and pay over the phone. Later on she called and told us she was leaving the company. Not noticing that her leaving meant that all of our amenities were going to be discounted. We no longer had our extra discount and now i have to pay extra for an extra 5 days. We also could not split payments and pay over the phone like we wee originally promised. Overall this experienced went from very helpful to very costly and I will not be returning. read more

The couple that works here have been here for several years, and they're great! I used this Security Public Storage location about two years ago to store all my stuff for the month I was between leases, and I am currently using them again, as I am again moving. The place is clean and very secure. I am very happy with them, and I definitely don't lose any sleep, even though all of my worldly possessions are there! read more

The lady at the front desk was real nice, told me everything I needed to know and than I was on my way. I love that they have those carts there. A dolley or two would be nice but I think people would steal them which is why maybe they don't have them but whatever. I love their prices. I found them on craigslist and bytheway, you have to print out and bring in the ads from there for special price which is the best! I'm happy. Been here a few months. Plan to be here longer. read more

Reasonable price, well maintained, safe and clean facility and friendly staff are the reasons why I continue to be a customer. Great extra services such as $15 flat fee rental truck( no extra charges) and no extra insurance charge( already included in the storage cost) are other incentives as well. The reason why I didn't give all 5 stars is the inconvenience of online access registration to make an online payment or check account status. You have to fill out a hard copy application and mail or fax it in or submit in person for online access. I wish you can just register online directly without the hassle. read more

From the time I first placed a call they have always been super helpful and friendly. The facility is always clean, well lit and has good operating hours. I also liked the truck they let you use when I first had to put all my stuff in storage---that truck saved me alot of money and alot of trips back and forth. I've never rented a storage unity before and this is a positive experience! read more

Great prices and excellent location. They also support the Passport Discount program. Nick at the office has always been helpful on the phone and in person. I have a 5x5 unit and access it a few times a week. Have never had a problem with the staff or location's amemities. read more

I was looking for a storage unit with a central location of my work area, Redwood City to Coastside to San Francisco. I called around and looked online and found that pretty much everywhere had a month discount in the beginning. I thought that was a good deal so I should worry more about location than price. Then I found out that these places had admin fees, must purchase their lock, and other random fees that I don't know what they're for. When I walked into Security Public Storage I was greeted by Desiree, a very kind and happy woman working the desk. She was pleased to help me get the storage unit at a better deal than the rest. A month and a half discount, no admin fees, and I could use my own lock. Awesome! I was moving into my new unit within 20 mins and couldn't be happier with thier customer service. This site is very secure. Each unit is alarmed, motion sensor security cameras, and gate code required to enter facility. And the gate hours begin at 5 am. Great for a contractor who picks up tools and equipment early in the morning. Great Job Security Public Storage! and Desiree, Thank You Huntley read more

Great place -very clean - and great people Maryann and John are the best - I will recommend this place to my friends.

Nice to have a bussiness that seems to care about their place and customers.

The staff at the SM storage: Joan, Michael and Jackie are very pleasant to deal with. The facility is very secure and has cameras on the premises to protect our belongings. I have rented many different storage sizes off and on over the years. I would like to see the facility stay open later like other storage places that stay open daily to 10pm vs closing at 7:45pm. I also would like to see them open on major holidays like other storage facilities are in the bay area. read more

I have been customer for over a year and I cannot express enough how both John and Marianne have been extremely professional, exceptional customer and have always gone above and beyond showing care and concern for the customers needs. Not only do I get treated this way, I have witnessed this with customers that have been present in the office while I was making a payment. I have referred several people I work with as well as family members who have asked me what storage facility I used and I have told everyone security public storage in San Mateo and explained why, it is due to the exceptional customer service extremely knowledgable and professional. I live in walnut creek California. And it is worth the drive to make a payment . Even though there is a security public storage in my area , it would not be the same . I refuse to relocate.
