I was very disappointed with the service. My move was relatively light and I usually have a couple of friends over who help me out. This time I had a leather reclining couch that needed disassembly and reassembling because my apartment door was too narrow and the entrance wasn't wide enough to take the couch as a whole. So I decided to opt for professional movers. Big mistake ... After most of my furniture and the bed was done, the couch was all that remained. The movers and I took a look at the screws and bolts below the couch. We had no idea how to disassemble the thing and were making guesses. Finally the movers decided it wasn't worth their time and left me stranded with no help at all. One of the movers did contact the owner to let him know that he couldn't fulfil his obligation and left me with a big fat check which added an extra half hour. I was too tired to argue since I had a ton of stuff to do and was still tense about the couch. There were a few things that really disappointed me: 1) How did the movers not figure out the disassembly for the couch. They are professional movers after all and need to know this stuff? Ultimately, I called a friend over from work. We sat for an hour and figured out what needs to be done to disassemble it. Us, a couple of amateurs could figure it out and professional movers couldn't? 2) I had told the owner that I had a couch that needed to be disassembled. It wasn't a surprise. The movers were ill prepared and didn't have the necessary tools. 3) I was tense since I was left with a couch and no help at all. I had to move out by end of day and this was an issue that had to be tackled in the next few hours. The owner never got back to me to even ask how things were going. At the least, the movers could have opted to say that they will consult professionals and get back to me. Nada. 4) When businesses can't fulfil their obligations, they usually discount services or do something to say that they care. I didn't get anything here. The movers were ready to go for their next haul and wanted to get out as fast as possible. The only good thing about this experience was that the movers were friendly. So I can't fault them for being rude or anything. But in this competitive world, there are expectations for businesses. If they can't fulfill these expectations, they need to refund money back and that is the truth. I'm giving my business to someone else next time. read more

We did not use these guys to move, but our neighbor did. Our new neighbor is a very nice man, but the movers had MAJOR temper issues about having to move their truck so we could leave. He actually dropped a load on the sidewalk and charged towards us because he couldn't believe we asked him to pull forward. Soo so so unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude! Not to mention they dropped his couch going up the stairs when our neighbor wasn't present. This moving guy needs a talking to, or be terminated if he can't handle it. read more

We used Seattle Movers for a local move within Seattle city limits. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING SEATTLE MOVERS. We had several damaged items due to careless packing and moving. We had damage to the house as they banged the furniture into multiple walls and banisters. They did not install the washer and dryer as expected and discussed prior to the move. They also threw their trash (from snacks) in my boxes. I found this garbage while I was unpacking the boxes. We made attempts to contact the company, but they initially denied any responsibility for the damages and subsequently ignored our attempts to contact them. read more

I have moved 21 times, including a recent move from the southeastern United States to Seattle. In all the moves, I've never had as much damage as occurred with Seattle Movers in moving from one Shoreline address to another. Two big chunks were torn from my new Thomasville dining room table; two chunks torn from the legs of my leather sofa, and a hideous scratch approximately 12" inches long on the side of a night stand. To their credit, they did have these items repaired by Gable's at no cost and Gables did a superb job on the work. Martin and Kirk delivered and installed the items 8 business days after our move In addition, one of the crew scooted boxes across my new hardwood floor as I stood by and watched him do it. I respectfully asked that he not scoot the boxes because they were scratching the floor. When I told the co-owner, Kirk, about the incident, he basically called me a liar, saying, "that's moving 101 and my guys wouldn't do that." In the next breath, he told me that one of them called to tell him when it happened that I'd ask them not to scoot the boxes and scratch the floor. In fairness, I commend Martin. I believe he did what he could to rectify the situation. I will never, ever do business with this company again and would never recommend them to anyone else. read more

****** Please read bottom section!!! We moved again and decided to use them again. We had three guys and it took exactly the 6 hours they quoted us. They were professional, especially Travis who we had move us last time so we were glad to see a familiar face. They were great about moving from the 2nd floor apt and from the garage into the truck and then into the new space. Only problem we had wasn't related to them at all and we only had two things damaged in the move. which I always consider a success. Totally recommend these guys but not their management. They used the wrong card for our payment, threw that bank account into the red instead of using the card on our paperwork. Struggled for days to get this resolved as they billed us not once, but twice but three times for our move. Luckily they caught the third before it went through and they did try to stop the others when we realized what was happening but between them and the bank we were out $$$$ plus the amount they finally pulled out from the card they were suppose to use so we were out $2700. The manager tried to help but he couldn't do any refunds so we had to wait for the owner to come back from vacation and he wrote us a check for the amount that was owed to us as he had tried to do a refund through their service which could take up to a week to process. So we had to write him a check once the refunds came in and it took them over a week to cash that. What a disaster. The movers were great - the management, the tried but it was sort of a stressful situation all around. read more

Had the pleasure of using Seattle Movers for our latest move from South Lake Union to Capitol Hill. The movers (2 guys) showed up a little bit before their schedule arrival time (which was great) and they were very professional, personable, and relatively quick. We had most of our boxes already packed up and ready for them to load, but they did break down our bed and move a few heavier pieces (desk, couch, kitchen table, etc...). All in all I was happy with the service and would feel comfortable recommending them to anyone who needed help with a move. read more

This was the first time I had used Seattle Movers, and it was a great experience. Leland and Adrian showed up right on time, were very nice and professional, and took great care with my belongings. They even had extra boxes for loose bulky items that I did not have boxes for, wrapped some of my furniture for me, and laid down mats into the house I moved in to, to avoid tracking in dirt. The only con was that I was not made aware beforehand that the start time of the pricing would begin from the time that the movers left the office (this tacked on an extra 30 minutes to my pricing). I'm not sure if Seattle Movers has the best value ($110/hour, took 2 men 4.75 hours to complete my move from a studio apartment with about 30 boxes and bins plus furniture to the ground floor of a home minus 30 minutes travel time from their office to my apartment and 30 minutes travel time from my apartment to the new home), but they were reliable and friendly. read more

I used Seattle Movers late August 2013 to move from Ballard to Mukilteo and the move when perfectly, without a hitch. They were right on time, called fifteen minutes before arrival and completed the move in the time I expected. Both of the movers (Xavier and Tim) were very professional and friendly and worked hard from the time they started to the time they were done. I don't expect to be moving again but if I did I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

I used Seattle Movers in early June for a move between Ballard and Wedgewood. The two guys that helped me, Tim and Peter, were pretty efficient and friendly. They quickly got things out of my condo and into their truck -- ~2 hours or so for my 700 square foot condo, but I also had a stupid amount of things. They had materials to protect and wrap fragile items such as my wall art, tv, kitchen table, etc. In the future I'd probably wrap that stuff myself so I could have peace of mind that it was properly protected, but they seemed to do a decent job at protecting my important items. When we got to my new apartment building, the elevator was down for service (!). Despite the setback, the guys continued to unload items from the truck, and when it was clear that the elevator wasn't coming back anytime soon, started hauling things up 5 flights of stairs. I felt pretty bad for the guys but they did what they had to do to get the job done. I really appreciated their efforts. I'd use Seattle Movers again in a heartbeat, it's worth the $ to have a worry free move. Overall, they did a great job despite the headaches of the day. read more

Leland and Joshua were professional, courteous, and efficient as possible. They recently moved my family out of our 1,900 sq ft home, into a storage unit, and new house rental. Their experience and ability to consolidate all of our items was A++ work. Nothing was damaged or broken. They took great care to wrap and use packing blankets on anything that needed it, including light-colored furniture that was going into storage. They had no problem with the extra request to help us consolidate our other smaller storage unit into the larger new one, and then turned around back to our house, and helped us move all relevant boxes to our new rental location. Seattle Movers was an OK moving company. I wish I could write a better review because the crew worked hard but a few problems - a broken lamp and was never reimbursed upon request. Finally bought a new one - cost me about $200 so add that to the moving fee. Scratched my most expensive piece of furniture. I asked them to be careful with a portable dishwasher wanted to sell and that got dinged. They didn't have an allen wrench to take apart a bed, so they sent me to the store to buy one. I spent a lot of time trying to find and buy that and by the time I got back they had the bed figured out and moved. Kind of wasted my time. That being said, the guys worked hard and fast and probably moved more than expected. Every single time I move, things get damaged. I just was disappointed because I paid movers with insurance to cover that damage and they didn't pay for damage. read more

I had to move a 1 bdrm house to a 4th story studio apt this month, and I ended up needing movers kind of last minute. Seattle Movers were available (when many other places were booked up for a month), and very flexible, when I had to change my moving day/time twice. I got a call from the crew in the morning, giving me an update on their time frame. They were on time, professional, and efficient. We got the whole move done in under 2 hours. I also really appreciated that on weekdays, their minimum move time is 1 hour (some places, it's 4!), and after that, they charge you by the quarter hour. I wish I could give zero stars. I hired Seattle Movers to pack up moving pods for my trip from Washington to Minnesota this month. When I opened the pods today, I found more than half of my furniture to be destroyed, many items which were heirloom antiques. I instructed the movers to wrap all furniture in the moving pads I provided, but instead they just threw several of my valuables in willy-nilly, stacked heavy, unpadded furniture pieces atop lightweight and fragile-filled boxes. The damage and loss is going to set me back tens of thousands of dollars. I called them this morning to inform them of the disaster, and was greeted by very little empathy. A simple "we are sorry" would have been appreciated. What an enormous disappointment. Do yourself a favor, hire someone else. read more

This was the first time I hired movers so I was very nervous of things not going according to plan. These movers were the best. They were in and out of my 2 bedroom apartment within an hour! Friendly, professional, and honest guys. They were moving me up 49 stairs so it was no small task. They completed this in roughly 2.5 hours. It would have taken me and 10 friends 8+ hours to do in a single day. Nothing was broken. They took extra care of little annoying difficult to move objects and moved everything within the house as well. I would recommend these movers to anyone. Seattle Movers was great. My husband decided to pack everything in one night - so needless to say, things weren't packed well....and boxes weren't labeled. The guys showed up right on time, had to deal with the fact that they had to park in an alley at our place, and they were so quick that we paid less than what they had quoted us. They were so thoughtful when they were moving the boxes into the new place - they tried to guess what boxes should go where in the new home (which was near impossible because of the lack of labeling). These guys moved my furniture up a little hill and down a narrow walkway and managed to maneuver everything through the small doorways of a cottage. Clown Car in reverse. Very smooth from beginning to end - Martin Cook sent us an estimate promptly after we filled out the form on their website and was very quick in communication; we chatted a bit about details and he added 1 hour to the estimate, which was spot on. Our move crew was Bob and Adam, whom I'd definitely recommend asking for. Friendly, careful, and kept the pace up throughout the day - these guys never slowed it down to pad out to the estimated time. I called this company (the Eastside number) last minute after suddenly freaking out that the company I'd previously selected wasn't licensed. They were able to fit me in on the day I wanted and the movers showed up right on time, just after 12pm. I was amazed at how quickly they moved us out of our 2 bedroom apartment - we had a TON of stuff. We kept packing even as they were loading the truck, and they worked until they'd carried out everything they possibly could. Didn't even blink at my thousand-pound desk. At the new place, they unloaded even faster and for the most part did a great job. I did take off one star because some of the clearly labeled boxes were put into the wrong rooms, meaning I later had to move things around a bit. (e.g. box labeled "living room" was put in kitchen) But overall they were fantastic and I would definitely hire them again. read more

The next day, the crackerjack team Garrett/Vic/John/Jack, moved everything carefully and efficiently into our new home. They were tidy, polite and in good humor. I just had a wonderful experience with Seattle Movers and their employees Leland and Ty. I was quoted for a move that would take between three and five hours; the work was finished in four hours. Although they feasibly could have finished the job faster, the care and diligence they took in moving my furniture was well worth it. At the end of the day, there were no scratches on the walls, and my belongings were handled with extraordinary care. Nothing was damaged. I finally treated myself and hired a moving company for a move from Ballard to West Seattle. Bob and Leland showed up early and finished the move within 3 hours. I was impressed with how efficient they were and everything arrived in perfect shape. The only thing I would have done differently next time around is to move during the weekday. Since I moved on a Sunday there was a 4 hour minimum...even though the job was done early I had to pay the full 4 hours. But regardless, I would recommend the company. read more

I had to move a few days after Christmas. I did all the packing myself and just wanted someone to move the boxes and furniture so that I didn't have to bother friends and rent a truck. I had 25 boxes, a bed, kitchen table and couch. I got 3 different estimates for moving. Since I could only move on a weekend, all moving companies in the area charged a minimum of 4 hours. My job was only going to take 2 hours since where I was moving from and to were so close to each other (both in Seattle). I wasn't thrilled about the 4 hr minimum but had no choice. Seattle Movers estimated about $380 hours for 4 hours work. The competition estimated anywhere from $600 to $1100 for the exact same work! I was a little hesitant to go with the cheapest quote, since sometimes that means shotty workers or having damage afterwards. Anyways I went with Seattle Movers based on the great Yelp reviews. I made everything as easy as possible for the guys. Everything was packed and just needed to be put on the truck. The movers were supposed to come at 2:00pm. About 2:30pm I got a phone call saying that they were running behind because the previous job took longer than estimated but they were on their way. They arrived about 2:45pm. Kyle and Josh (I think) were very friendly and took their time setting up their truck and planning so they made the least amount of trips from my apartment to the street. They were very careful to lift smart so they didn't hurt themselves, damage my stuff or the building. They worked quick and moved all my stuff efficiently in around 2 hours. Since it was under the 4 hour minimum, my cost was exactly as quoted. There was NO damage done to either building and I saved several hundred dollars compared to the competition. I would absolutely use them again. The only bad part of the experience was that they were a little late. read more
